I selected Salon 109 on a whim, due to its proximity to work and my desperation to fix a terrible dye job I received at a discount hair salon chain. I do not have a "before" picture, as the dye job decimated my self-esteem. When I walked in, the receptionist immediately greeted me with a smile. I asked for a consult with a stylist, and within minutes my hair hero, Justin Maxwell, stood before me with a smile and a number of suggestions to fix my mutilated hair. I was too afraid to risk another bad dye job, but Justin was very understanding and instead gave me an extremely flattering cut that distracted people from the color! He gave me some self-esteem back, and I scheduled my next appointment with him right away. People never stopped commenting on my great cut, until today when he changed my life! Today I was brave enough to try a dye job! Justin used the balayage technique to transform my hair, and he was extremely patient and supportive when I panicked during the process. I was so traumatized by my previous dye job that I started to panic halfway through the balayage. Justin talked me down off the ledge and vowed to remedy things if I was not pleased with the end result. I was still too scared to look in the mirror until he was finished, but when I did I was in shock- my nightmarish clown color was gone and my self-esteem was back! I have received so many compliments on my hair already, including one from a stylist at a different salon! My hair looks amazing- the color perfectly compliments my skin, and the highlights are blended so smoothly I look like I belong in a hair magazine! I should note that I have mixed, easily-damaged hair, and the processing today was so gentle! Since this was my first time here, I was nervous because I am always nervous to try a new salon/stylist. Ashley from Salon 109 made all my anxiety go away! I wasn't 100% sure what I wanted to do with my hair but had an idea (and no pictures - which usually is not a good idea). Together, Ashley and I were able to consult each other about what would be best for my hair. They have tons of hair magazines that I was able to convey what I wanted to get done to my hair. With my basic idea and Ashley's knowledge in hair coloring and cutting, let me tell you - I look smoking hot!! Walking out of the Salon 109, just down the street to the bakery, I had several people walk up to me and actually comment on how nice my hair looked! Everyone loves my new hair, thanks to Ashley and Salon 109! And one last thing, they will take care of you! Even if it is from getting you a magazine or a drink, they are really concerned about making you feel comfortable as possible. The only downside (which is minor as you can see from above), is that the parking is metered. If you can take a bus in or get a ride that would be the best way to get there. Made an account purely to review Salon 109. The employees were kind and relatively professional. However, I left having spent more than I have ever been charged for a gel manicure and with nails that look worse than when I have spent $20 less on the same service elsewhere. I would not have any problem with the pricing if the final result was a quality manicure. From the moment I left my appointment, my nails have been uneven, with the manicurist having let gel pool on certain parts of my nail. I could have excused this as it wasn't too noticeable, but it has been less than a week since my manicure and the tips of my nails are already looking worn on multiple nails. Overall, will not be returning and would certainly not recommend Salon 109 for any type of nail service. ----Update---- I will say, after posting this review that Mary reached out on behalf of Salon 109 to apologize and offered to book me for an appointment to re-do my manicure. While I will not be taking them up on the offer, the situation was handled quite professionally. read more

First, I had a great pedicure from Toni. Not only was it wonderfully relaxing, but she removed callous build up and took care of my almost troublesome nails. A real pro treatment, complete with complementary wine (or other soft drinks/coffee if I had desired). She has the very new Shatter polishes from OPI. My toes look so good I've even gotten complements from hot-rod enthusiast who love the paint job!!! Josephine gave my hair quite a chop (exactly what I wanted). I showed her a few ideas in pictures, and she totally understood what I was going for, and pulled it off perfectly, even with my very fine/wavy hair! She took care of my eyebrows too. She cleaned them up, and they looked beautiful and very natural, not over stylized (again, what I was looking for). She recommended product which I totally love!!! I recently had a fantastic cut and color experience with David at Salon 109. As a new client, David took time with me initially to discuss what I was looking for in terms of my color. We went over several options, and the owner, Mary, even came over to introduce herself and make recommendations about how to get a great result. Both Mary and David were friendly and very knowledgeable, and I ultimately received a fantastic result and great, dimensional color. David then discussed what I wanted for my cut, and he did just as I requested. Overall, I had a great experience for a great price (and I enjoyed getting to know David throughout my visit!). Salon 109 - have no doubt about getting a mani/pedi here. I have been a lot of places in this area, and other areas. You will not get a better pedicure ANYWHERE, and ou will not get a better mani anywhere, either. Toni DiPalma is GIFTED and you owe it to yourself to give her a chance. Also, for hair - Karen Gregware is amazing. I've never had a stylist who was intuitive about hair, and was dead on mixing color and applying highlights. When you visit this salon, you are treated as a guest, but with that touch of familiarity that makes you feel a part of things. It's super clean, state of the art, and welcoming. It is very rare to get a massage that actually relaxes and energizes while hitting all of the problem/tension spots. Even more rare is finding a skilled professional who loves what he does and KNOWS what to do. John Mitchell is FANTASTIC. Thanks to him, I left feeling calm, fresh and excited to attack the insanity of the holidays & final exams. After most massages, I feel "ehh", yet this experience was perfection. Dory is a supreme colorist, the best I've ever had. She picked out and personally mixed my color after showing me swatches and I requested some copper be added. What I left with was a most beautiful shade of red, totally natural looking with my skin tone. We tinted my eyebrows ( which I have never done!) and they came out wonderfully. Thank you Dory, you are the best! I also had a pedicure at the beginning of the month and I couldn't be happier with the results. I am so grateful to have found Ashley and Salon 109! Ashley is extremely talented, knowledgeable, and wonderful at what she does. I always leave happy with a great haircut, color, and style! She's also a super nice and fun person who's easy to talk to (even for 2-3 hours!). She takes her time and really listens to what you say when you tell her what you're looking for. I brought my daughter in for an eyelash curl/lift/tint and an eye brow shaping today. My daughter wanted to look good & be maintenance free as she heads back to college tomorrow morning. Just had an INCREDIBLE haircut at Salon 109. The salon is BEAUTIFUL and the the staff is very FRIENDLY and PROFESSIONAL. Mary spends allot of time making sure that you get the haircut that YOU want, but is also good at making suggestions about what would be good FOR YOU and YOUR hair. Had to get a wash and blow dry before leaving on vacation. I have naturally curly hair that I hate and love the luxury of a professional blow out. Stopped in with no appointment, was greeted with a smile and was promptly told sure we can fit you in. Ashley washed my hair and did the blow out and did a fantastic job.
