I had not had my hair professionally cut in almost a decade, and for the first time in my life, it had grown quite long. I was incredibly nervous to let somebody chop away at it, although I knew I desperately both a cut and some advice. Not ever having long hair, I had no idea how to properly care for it, and it was in major need of some intense TLC. Charity. My girl Charity. Not only was she so incredibly sweet and kind- I could feel the good vibes coming off her the second I saw her- but she really listened to my requests and concerns. It was fascinating to watch her work- she was deft and quick. You can tell she'd been doing hair for some time. And while she cut, I asked her questions on how to better car for my hair, and she gave absolutely the best tips. She kept every millimeter of my length that she could while trimming away all the split and breakage and dry dead ends and gave me some lovely long layers that are easy to manage as a toddler mom. She cuts my hair dry then washes and dries it and checks it to make sure everything is even. I used to color it to hide the gray but I decided to go with the gray.
