She asked what style I wanted and I never know the name, so I told her waves and made a gesture with my hands of how I want it to look and she knew right away. When I tell you that this blowout lasted me a good 4 days and probably could have went a bit more had I not decided to work out and sweat in that 4th day! I have never had the waves last that long. From the minute I got there the whole appointment felt tense. I asked for a simple trim, some face framing pieces, and something low maintenance since I don't spend a lot of time styling my hair. It didn't feel like a difficult request but I felt like my preferences were an inconvenience. Even the shampoo was so rough it was uncomfortable instead of relaxing. The haircut itself turned out nice but what really shocked me was the finish. I paid $150 and expected at least a basic styling. Instead, my hair was blow dried with her fingers... no round brush, no comb, no straightener, no curls. Nothing. I genuinely couldn't believe that was the finished result. I understand COVID social distancing and even a minor language barrier, but I did not feel that welcomed at either salon. So I traveled right on to Roswell Rd. and I am so happy that I did! I was given a walk-in consultation and was warmly greeted by the owner, Patrice. Patrice is literally a ray of sunshine! She made me feel welcomed, comfortable, and gave me the individual service that I needed because I had questions and was in the market for a permanent salon. The second stylist, Nia, who is young and talented, was slaying another client's hair; but Patrice brought me right in, sat me down, ask me about my hair goals and where I was currently in my hair journey. She explained to me how the Silk Bar has specials for folks like me, who want to be repeat clients. I was so excited to come back the next day. I arrived and learned that Patrice had written a personalized analysis for me and my hair goals! She provided products that were tailored just for my hair and scalp.
