Thanks to a coupon I got at a promotional Yelp event a while back, I got a discounted blowout! I noticed the expiration date was around the corner so I went ahead and made an appointment, even though there wasn't really an occasion for it. Who can say no to someone washing, blow drying and styling your hair for you? Am I right, ladies? The online appointment booking system was pretty easy. I made the appointment and made a note of my coupon. They gave me a call prior to the appointment to confirm. Pretty painless. DryBar is located in a nice part of Buckhead, but the plaza it's in is pretty run down. The interior and decor of the salon is gorgeous, though! They greeted me at the door and sat me down in a chair with my stylist. They brought me a glass of champagne after rattling off a list of drink options (water or wine). I asked for beachy waves that looked natural and not so "hey everyone I just went and got a blowout"! It felt so good when she washed my hair, although I could have used an extra minute of scalp massage. I'll have to say, a few days after, I hadn't washed my hair and it still felt soft and smooth and almost as clean as the day I got my hair washed! The blow dry and style takes the longest. But I have a LOT of hair so I made sure to tip my stylist extra. She was friendly but didn't bother me when she noticed I was basically on my phone the entire time. Overall, I wish I could have her move into my house and wash and blow out my hair everyday. Unfortunately, I will have to make do with the spontaneous splurge for a blowout. I wish there were more DryBars in Atlanta (ahem, Dunwoody or Sandy Springs), but until then, this is the most convenient location for me! read more

I have been coming to dry bar for years and have been to several locations. From Los Angeles to Atlanta . A few weeks ago I went to this location ( buckhead ) and had a friend come as well as she has never been. I had a 1pm appt and my service did not start till 1:30. The front desk was not professional or apologetic for the wait. Fast forward to the end of my service . My friend and I both tipped 20%. The stylist called me to ask why we did not tip, and I was so confused because we did. EVEN if we didn't this is so unprofessional and no establishment or stylist should ever call a client to ask that. A few hours later our hair was a mess. I do not recommend this location as it is not ran professionally, stylist are rude and overwhelmed and gossip and the service you are receiving is rushed. read more

Seriously the worst dry bar experience. I go all the time , so I am familiar with the styles and the way they serviced. However this time I could tell it was going to be not great by the technique . You know how you can just tell your hair is going to come out bad ? Yeah, what a waste of money. First of all she did not blow dry my hair all the way- meaning my hair still had moisture in it. I have curly hair so I knew that was going to be a disaster.I asked for it straightened. She went over it in big chunks and with little to no heat. My hair was not sleek or nice when leaving. Drybar is an awesome concept. It's a hair salon that only does blowouts. The price is very reasonable compared to other similar businesses, it is only $40. There is a "menu" featuring a variety of styles to choose from with names like "The Mai-Tai", "The Cosmo" and "The Southern Comfort". These styles offer a variety of looks that range from voluminous with flippy ends to slick and stick straight. You could even add loose curls and braids. I don't even choose from the menu, I just show my stylist a picture of my hair when it was blown out before and they nail it every time. My blowout never involves heating tools other than a blowdryer. My hair is super thick and wavy. Perks: complimentary beverages (mimosas, wine, coffee, tea) Snags: You are randomly assigned a stylist, you can't choose who you want. You can request someone in the comments box but the website says they will do their best to accommodate you- no guarantees. I've not had a problem yet because every stylist has been great. HORRIBLE , HORRIBLE , HORRIBLE service. Arrived at my appointment on time at 7am. Took 30 min for anyone to do my hair. When she was finally ready to do my hair she had a horrible attitude. As she was doing my hair she was very rough with me. As if she was taking her frustrations out on me. She kept pulling my hair as she was combing and burning my scalp with the flat iron. Afterwards when my hair was done it came out as if I did it myself using a lower brand flat iron. Buckhead location has to do better. If you are upset because someone makes an appointment in the morning and you have to provide the service don't do hair. Worst experience ever. I am angered and disappointed with the service I received on the afternoon before my wedding for my rehearsal dinner/welcome party. The service was awful and ruined my look for the entire evening. I booked an appointment months in advance and asked for a simple, slick-back bun, and showed a couple inspiration photos. My appointment was at 3:00. First, they did not start on time, and began around 3:15. By 4:15, the woman styling my hair had still not even begun to put my hair into a bun. She kept picking up pieces of hair to start, and then dropping them and starting over. I have thick, longish hair, but this is not an excuse. She clearly did not know what she was doing and should have spoken up and found someone to assist her. My mom was with me and had been done with her blowout for over 30 minutes at this point. I was trying not to stress, as my rehearsal at the church started at 5:00, and I still needed to get to the hotel, quickly change and freshen up my makeup. My mom says to the lady, "are you almost done? We've been here over an hour and have to leave to get ready for the rehearsal." The woman's response is, "you really should have done a trial session for your wedding". This is when I started to lose my cool. Number 1, MA'AM, this is not my wedding, it's my rehearsal. Number 2, do not tell me I should have come to you for a trial. This is your every day job and I asked for a simple bun. Clearly you are incapable. I responded with "can you just put it into a ponytail I really need to go." She resumes to "trying" again and is not even doing the basic steps of a ponytail. I seriously just wanted to say "please let me do it myself". I probably should have. Finally, my mom went to the front desk and informed them of the situation. The manager came over and took her place and as quickly as possible, threw my hair into a bun. They gave us a measly 50% discount and we ran out. I had to change in the church bathroom as my rehearsal had already started and did not get to redo my makeup from the morning. My bun was immediately falling out, and my bridesmaids had to try to pin up pieces to make it stay. My mom had to miss more than half of my rehearsal because she had to actually go to the hotel and get ready. By the time my welcome party started, my hair looked like a strange combination between a ponytail and bun with pieces falling out everywhere. I did not let it ruin my night in the moment, but looking back at photos, I am sad and angry because I am so unhappy with the way my hair and makeup looked. In need and desperately looking for a hair salon that would be open on a Sunday without having to drive far out, I found Drybar. This was my first experience there, my experience was awesome! I was offered mimosas or wine. I declined and had green tea instead since I wasn't feeling my best. Everyone was nice and seemed to enjoy their job. My stylist was Justin and I just loved him. He has gentle hands and I could have sat for the scalp massage all day during my wash. As a natural curly girl, I often went to the Dominican salon for a blowout, but this place has opened my eyes to new and great experience. He didn't use extreme high heat and yet my hair has stayed straight for almost a week now. I will be back and this is now my go to place for a blowout. Not to mention the fab price of $45 plus tip. I've been a Drybar barfly member for 5-6 years. And I recognize them for the convenient blow dry service they are meant to be. And perhaps it is the change in ownership that has sparked their lack of customer service. But this is the reason why I have cancelled my monthly membership and will not be back. At its essence, hair styling is a service industry. If the customer and their satisfaction is not central to their business model, what was a good idea and a great business will falter as a franchise. Nothing is wrong with the model. But the service has declined so much - especially at Buckhead - that I wonder if their pragmatic approach to maintaining their schedule is a result of COVID or if they simply struggle to hire good front desk leadership. Either way, it has lost them a long standing customer and the future revenue associated with my patronage. Take your chances there. I won't. read more

I was very excited to try DryBar, as I've never been to any location and have heard great things. However, although both the staff and the salon were fine, I was not impressed with my overall experience and left unhappy with my hair. With regards to the finished product, I would normally have asked for it to be fixed. However, I was running late for my event and could not see the final product until it was completely done (there was no mirror for me to watch anything). I had asked for a straight blowout, and made clear I did not want any curls. She asked if I wanted "just a bit of wave" and I said ok, but only a little at the bottom. I also made clear that I wanted volume at the top, since my hair becomes weighed down and flat with too much product and when hot tools are used. Unfortunately, I left with big bouncy curls all over and no volume at the top. It seems they book all client for a very set time limit, and felt like they were pressed to make sure they make their time. I felt like my hair had taken too long, so they were getting backed up and needed to keep the assembly line moving (AKA get me out and move on to the next). I did appreciate that I was greeted upon arrival and offered a beverage, and the products smell amazing. The shampooing was also probably the best washing I've ever had. I will likely return to another DryBar, but will have to be more clear next time, I suppose. read more

I made an appointment using their cool app and showed up a few minutes to 1. Turns out, I made a noon appointment and somehow convinced myself that it was at 1. Epic fail. I felt awful and they were so cool and understanding, let me take a walk-in appointment instead. LIFE SAVORS! My engagement party was at 6 and they were amazing for squeezing me in even after I messed up the time. Not many places would do that or even care and DryBar made it happen. My stylist was Anna and she did a fab job. I went with a combination of Mai-tai (messy & beachy waves) and a Dirty Martini (long loose curls). Love it! Considering my party is at 6 I wanted a look with lots of volume and soft curls so it would fall enough by that night and look natural instead of stuff and structured. I had so many compliments on my hair that evening and I am going to go back for dry runs for my wedding hair and probably use Anna simply because she did a fabulous job. Overall not very pleased and would recommend a Dominican salon instead! When I called to make the appointment, they said they would have someone to work with my ethnic hair. Now I don't consider my hair to be ethnic. Long and wavy maybe, but not ethnic! Instead I think they could have said they have diverse stylists experienced with various textures of hair. After I finished getting the blowout, my hair was dry with parts of it sticking up in the front. When I asked the stylist, he said we don't have gel here (assuming that's what I use on my hair) and offered me molding creme instead. It would be nice to see a more diverse slate of products for various hair types. Overall the ambiance is nice and the service is quick, but I don't feel like its a salon that can cater to my particular needs read more

WOW!!!! I can't say enough about Suzanna and Sabrina at this location! I went in for a blow out appointment last night only to find out that I scheduled it for the next day by accident (and they were closing in 30 min) :/. Sabrina at the front desk was SO amazing and told me she'd ask the store trainer, Suzanna, if she'd be able to take me even though the store was closing soon. Suzanna took me under her Drybar wing and helped me with a smile! My blowout was GORGEOUS and I loved chatting with Suzanna about everything, including how she got started in the company 7 years ago (WOW!). Suzanna recommended an amazing scalp product, On the Rocks, that I purchased and she used on me right then and there! I am visiting Atlanta for a few weeks and Suzanna even offered some great spots to check out while I'm here. They were both SO sweet and I was in and out of there with a FAB 'do in an hour. I am a SUPER loyal Drybar customer, as I travel for work often and visit stores everywhere I go (I am probably plopped down in a drybar chair twice a month or so!). It makes me SO happy to see that the company I spend a lot of time and money with is so fantastic with their customers. I will be visiting this Drybar again (at least twice!) before I leave! So the first time I went to Dry Bar was at the Avalon location & I wanted waves because my hair was short then. I absolutely hated it. There was no volume and the hair didn't hold one single bit so I forgot about dry bar. I was going to dream dry this past Sunday but they were closed so I went to dry bar - Buckhead location on West Paces and oh my goodness what a big DIFFERENCE!! These guys are AMAZING & have fully restored my faith in dry bar. I wanted waves again this time and my hair is down to my chest (almost) and I wish I could remember the stylists name but she's African American and had pink-ish hair on her. She was amazing! And I got this done on Sunday for a photoshoot. It is now Tuesday and I haven't had to do ANYTHING to fix my hair. I kid you not the curls have held perfectly!! I just had to tease it a very tiny bit but other than that I haven't had to re curl my hair or anything. This has never happened before!! This used to be one of my favorite places to go but now it has gone downhill terribly. Most of the stylist don't know what they are doing and are not comfortable with this type of blow dry. I expect when I pay to have my hair done, for someone to get it bone straight and for the texture to be silky smooth. I can say with confidence this hasn't happened at all in the last 6-8 months of the services I've received from them. To add insult to injury, I have sewin extensions and I have discovered that they now charge an additional $20 for a wash and blow dry. Please note, they don't charge extra for beaded or fused on extensions....just mine. Hmmmmmmm.....I could understand if there were extra work involved or if there were something possibly wrong but this just seems to be a way to drive up cost. $65 for a bad blow out is not ideal. If you've got money to blow- go for it. Otherwise, stick with something that lasts a little longer. I had an event on a weeknight where I really wanted to look my best. I made a reservation online (major plus!) for a blowout + a floater. I showed up about 10 minutes late- darn you Peachtree traffic. When I arrived I checked in at the front desk and apologized for my tardiness. I was offered a drink and agreed to some wine, but my wine didn't arrive until several minutes later...to the point where I figured they forgot, so that service lost some of the "Wow" factor for me. I probably waited a good 8-10 minutes for a stylist - didn't I have an appointment? Things just seemed a little slow. I met with my stylist and explained that I wanted a style that was smooth but with some curls. She gave me a blank stare and told me to look in the look book. I told her I wanted a mix of the Manhattan and the Mai Tai, but she still seemed confused, so I just went for the manhattan. I found the washing area to be less than comfortable. There were foot stools in front of the chairs that didn't really make sense to me what they were for. To put my feet up? My legs are long and I was wearing heels, so the foot stool thing was really in my way. Also, the bowl and chair didn't seem to make sense for my height. We had to experiment and adjust a few times. The wash itself I felt was sub-par. I don't feel like she really got all my hair clean, just the top layer if that makes sense. As for the Floater -- did it happen, or didn't it? So many people rave about the floaters but I didn't find anything rave-worthy, so I'm wondering if she skipped it? I was still charged for it, so I'm not really sure what that was about. The styling took about 30 minutes, and while the style was OK it wasn't really what I wanted. I'd try the Mai Tai next time, since I saw someone walk out with the Cosmopolitan and she looked like she just had a bottle of hair spray dumped on her. I kept my style for 2 days...it was still clean, but I got annoyed with the style, so I washed it. It probably would have lasted another day or two. So $55. I think I'd rather spend that money on a mani/pedi. I will say that I am now convinced that getting a blowout before you know you'll be in a bunch of pictures is a great idea. But maybe somewhere else...not DryBar. read more
