I happen to have a Groupon and made an appointment to come in and get a wash, haircut and deep conditioner treatment (according to the Groupon.) I walked into a very warm and family-esque environment, sweet ladies, conversations back and forth, was really surprised that this place even existed. Its a hidden gem off the corner of Rt 1, not much to look at immediately, but a traditional mom and pop kinda salon feel when you walk in. I arrived early, my hair-dresser finished up a little late, was in no rush so I was completely understanding. She listened to my concerns about getting a trim, cutting the dead ends off. She decided it was easier to do this after washing and styling and doing a dry cut. I trusted her expertise and went ahead with it. The wash was a bit rushed, there was an odd smell from the sink area, though I imagine it was because of the hair-dye that was lingering in the salon (it's a small place.) She conditioned following the wash, I didn't get a deep conditioner treatment but didn't make a point to say anything out of courtesy. She followed up with taking me back to my seat and immediately started to tackle the blow-dry in my very thick long hair. She did style is beautifully, she cut some of the ends off, she suggested my hair was in rather decent shape and didn't need much. I accepted her opinion, she was very polite and kind, and she finished up and offered some nice suggestions on how to close up my split ends. I closed off my tab with the Groupon, gave her a $10 tip and went on my way. Overall, not a memorable experience, I felt the whole thing (minus the hair styling portion) was rushed, I didn't get the deep conditioner which would've really been nice for my thick hair, and lastly, I could've honestly had more trimmed off my hair. She said it didn't need much, but when I got home I saw and felt the straw ends that really should've just been cut off. I'm going to have to wait a little bit and get a proper cut to make sure the dead ends are off. They're all very nice people here, I imagine they're amazing at their craft in different areas, my experience isn't necessarily a reflection on poor service, more-so could've just been an off day or maybe just bad luck with my hair. read more

I found this place on yelp and saw they had good reviews. I came from out of town to go to my sister in laws wedding. I got my hair done and make up done and was very happy with their services. I can't figure out why this place doesn't have a million glowing reviews. It's tucked a little back off of route one and def use the gps to get you there. But once you're there, you're family. There were yummy treats and a cozy couch. My stylist was Taylor and I am overly please with me entire experience. So pleased that I am going back for more services next week. If you want to have your hair highlighted or colored, go here! I took a risk and came here for the first time last week...2 weeks before my wedding...to have full foil blonde highlights done. A groupon was purchased for this experience. The young lady who did my hair was very tentative in cutting my hair the style and length I asked for. So I did not get what I wanted with the cut. The color was ok. No mistakes ...after consulting with all 3 ladies working there ( their idea) I got a medium brown shade. It wasn't a complicated color...no correction needed or anything. It was acceptable. Here's the part that was inappropriate... Even though the groupon was for a cut and one process color the owner told me it would cost 20 more for the toner! Seriously?? I would love to know how your going to properly offer a color ing..WITHOUT a toner??? It is a necessary element to the color process...unless your fond of Orange hair. That's the equivalent to charging extra for a freakin towel because you washed hair... It was just crazy. I didn't argue it because these ppl were about to work on my hair...kinda felt trapped into paying it and being cooperative even though I know how nutty it was. Look, if you don't want to offer color service at the groupon rate you've got in place then pull it or up the price. Don't be slimy and add it on to your customer when theyve already paid for a part of the service that SHOULD be included. That's called "strong arming". You've got them in a vulnerable situation and they feel compelled to appease you and pay it. The ladies were nice... Offered coffee and water...seemed genuinely concerned with the customers comfort level, I just can't see doing a color and not toning it...I've never heard of that...ever. read more

I love this place, it's like a little family. The prices are great and the atmosphere is wonderful. First appointment is 50% off!!!! They always have water, coffee, and plenty of snacks available. My stylist Michelle is THE BEST. I am VERY PICKY about my stylists and VERY CAUTIOUS when it comes to what I allow a stylist to do to my hair. Michelle is highly skilled and I trust her 100%. I feel like I came out looking exactly as I did when I went in, except with shorter hair.....and the reason being because "my hair was damaged." Granted it is, and even if they had to chop off some more, i would have taken it just to get some more volume in my hair, which is what I was really looking for. mmmm. I went last night and saw Angela for a wash and blow dry. My hair is kind of wavy but tends to frizz on top and it usually poses a challenge for anyone to blow dry. I have given up trying to tell a stylist what I would like my blow dry to look like, even at the blow dry bars that have "menus." My hair always comes out blown dry extremely straight and sometimes finished with an iron. Not so last night. Angela took charge immediately and first washed out minerals in my hair, no doubt from chlorinated swimming pools. She did a light masque. Then came the blow dry. As usual, I said nothing and let her work. When she was done, I had the perfect blow dry. I had the volume that I have always desired with blowouts but never really get. She did not ask me the usual questions like "what side do you part your hair on?" etc. The finished product was amazing. She parted my hair on the opposite side which gave me a totally different look and I loved it. She then showed me how to use root spray to cover gray at the roots, something I had been fearful of trying. Angela has the amazing ability to look at your hair, shape of face, etc., and just know what would like great on you. She doesn't listen to you and then turn around and do something completely different. I can't wait to go back next week for my hair color! (And prices are very reasonable). read more

I purchased a groupon for this salon in the spring to get my hair cut. I am a very low maintenance beauty person, I don't go to a specific hair dresser but instead I just buy a groupon for a new place each time. I have relatively straight, moderately thick hair and I don't do anything too extravagant with it, so it works out for me. The salon is a little difficult to get to in terms of getting into the parking lot, but once I arrived everyone was very welcoming and friendly. My stylist Ashton was very young, which I know can be an issue for some people (I am young too and I get it all the time!) but she did a great job. As other reviewers have said, she consulted with some of the other stylists in the salon on certain points, which I liked, because to me that shows that she is putting some thought into what she is doing rather than just going with it. She gave me her feedback and suggestions on what I was asking for and was able to come up with a simple hair cut for me that worked for my face and got rid of all my dead ends. Overall I am very glad I found this place and bought the groupon for it, and I would definitely return to get my hair cut there again. read more

I am so happy to have found this Hair salon, I gave it a shot, and now they have a customer for life. I couldn't believe they fit me in on a very busy Saturday...who does that? Just the crappy mall salons...yuck! Even though they fit me in, Angela still took her time and treated me like I've been coming for years. I bought a groupon so wasn't expecting that much. When I came the salon was ok itself but people working there were very nice and happy to have a new customer. My hair is damaged and I had my last haircut maybe a year ago. Now my hair looks so much better! Even my boyfriend, when I came home said: wow! Your hair looks great! Loved getting my hair done by Melissa. She listed to what I wanted and I loved the subtle layered cuts and the right color which suited me.

I wanted to like this place before arriving, I really did. I went in for partial highlights and a cut. Partial highlights were extremely partial...meaning I didn't really see them in my hair and had to have them redone elsewhere. Why? I told the stylist that I pull a lot of red and the highlights came out golden, not blonde. They were also far from my roots. The cut was fine, but it was shorter than what I asked for. I asked for an inch off and showed the stylist a picture of what I wanted. Instead I got 2 inches off and it wasn't what I showed her. Like I said, I REALLY wanted to like this place because I had hopes it would be a hidden gem and the staff was friendly. I didn't want to say anything at the salon because I felt it would have been rude to the stylist and other staff. Seeing how the other stylists did their clients hair, maybe it was the luck of my straw. I was hoping for their same experience. I gave them the biggest benefit of the doubt, but instead I went home very unhappy. read more

I bought a living social deal for a full-body spray tan here. I hate to give one star because the woman who sprayed me was so nice, but in all honesty, my spray tan was just awful. First, you're basically inside a tent inside the main salon. Weird. The woman asked me how dark I wanted my tan to be, and since I was going to a wedding the next day, I said "just a glow." Somehow, "just a glow" got translated into turning me into a cast member of the Jersey Shore. I generally have a fair-natural skin tone, so to come out of the salon with BROWN skin was quite scary. My fiance had driven me to my appt and I was incredibly embarrassed that he had to see me with the awful tan. We laughed about it later but his reaction was pretty hilarious. I was so brown that my eyes and teeth looked weird and blindingly white. It was awful! I went home and immediately showered. I literally didn't care if it ruined the whole tan, I just couldn't go anywhere looking like that. After I showered, I wasn't brown anymore, but was really worried about what I would look like for the wedding the next day. Luckily, the next day, it was just a hint of a tan, and nothing drastic. on my cousins yelp ( I don't have one) But I needed to write about this salon. I came in after months of research for a keratin treatment, I have a ton of hair and I just didn't want to spend all that money if the treatment wasn't going to last. I ended up coming to Salon Bamboo for the keratin, and OMG the results were amazing. I still cannot believe how awesome this treatment really is. Before the treatment it would normally take me up to an hour and a half to blow dry and straighten my hair, after the treatment it takes less than 20. And I don't even have to do anything to my hair now if I don't want to. I can throw some leave in conditioner in it and call it a day, I could never do that before the treatment because my hair was way too frizzy. The treatment is a long process, just about 4 hours,so I even ordered dinner with the stylist. They make you feel like family there. I would highly recommend this salon to anyone. Hey guys! I just wanted to spread the word about this amazing salon. You will never feel more at home than at Salon Bamboo. The stylist Angela is honest and kind. She tries to do her absolute best and really she does an amazing job! Anna is her sister and she is the front desk/ reception (I'm not sure about her exact title) but she is also just wonderful, she calls to confirm twice and really walks you along the process of choosing what to do with your hair. At first I wanted to go completely blonde but Anna suggested that I should probably just do an Ombre and then ease my way into blonde. That was great advice because I love my ombre its fun and cute and much easier to maintain than a full head of blonde dyed hair. Anyway I used a groupon and I did not have to buy it on the website because they honor the deal in the salon if you just show them the coupon. I have already suggested this place to 4 other people after they raved about how cute my hair turned out. I 100% recommend this place it is wonderful! :D read more

I meant to submit a review a while back after going in with a Groupon to have my ombre touched up and roots. The woman who was going to do my hair had a family emergency and they unfortunately had to reschedule. Unfortunately I didn't get their voicemail so I showed up and found out they wouldn't be able to do my hair that day. Lucky for me, the owner and the awesome staff worked around their schedules to accomodate my appt. They were able to do the whole thing and they did such an amazing job, and faster than nearly anywhere else I've been! They truly are such a nice group of woman; very personable and kind. They have great treats, coffee, water etc and are very generous. During my appointment we discussed trying a keratin treatment and needless to say I booked my appt. for the following week. I cannot express how happy I am that I got it done! I opted for the more expensive treatment and it was well worth it!!!
