She assessed my hair and decided what to do (we ended up removing 50% of the extensions -- the previous salon had added too much hair so she could charge me for more hair, which was one of the reasons I ended up looking like I was wearing a wig). I ended up booking for Wednesday afternoon, parked nearby the coffee shop. Wasn't a busy day. Arlene is such a hair expert! I told her I prefer short hair for the volume and she showed me some ideas. We decided that a short bob would be best to fix my mess! She did a fantastic job fixing up the uneven pieces, making sure to fix the bangs so it would grow out nicely. She also showed me how to style it at home, since short hair is high maintenance. I'm super happy with how it turned out, and I'll definitely be back when it's time to trim. Hopefully by then I will have learned my lesson!

Through the non-profit "Children with Hair Loss" Du Japon Hair Club was vetted for donations and is the only approved salon in the Los Angeles area. I met Yuki, who owns and operates this salon and also one of the best stylists I've had in my years of barbers. She is so nice and explained the process of the donation and also provided guidance on selecting the best hair cut for me. After looking at a few photos, I decided to go with a moderate cut to ease back into the general population. I was so happy with the results and would recommend Yuki to any of my friends. She will only take appointments and is the busiest during the weekend. I would recommend calling well in advance for your appointment, as she works generally towards the end of the week through the weekend.

Yuki should have warned me that my hair was too fine for this process instead of taking my money to ruin my hair. If she is so experienced and so great she should have known better and know that the process she was doing would ruin my hair. This is my warning to others that are going here to have straightening done. Don't rely on her to tell you it's not right for your hair. To top it off when I called to tell her she did not apologize, she did not act as though she felt bad her response was not caring at all. Not to mention she didn't offer any advice or a refund. Now it will take me years to get my hair healthy and I'm so upset.

I said I had another appt after but that would be fine. I arrived and sat down and waited. They said I was checked in. I waited one hour before going to the front desk to say that now, I would not have time to do the appt because, as I told them, I would have to leave for another appt. I had allotted 2 hours and now there was only 1 hour left and I had not even been seen or sent for hair washing. All the while I waited, I could see Sal doing at least 2 other people's hair. When I asked the front desk if I could reschedule, they said they would talk to him. Several minutes passed. Sal was aware that I was there, but chose not to speak to me himself. He chose not to even take two minutes to face me and apologize. He was going to Mexico the next night, and could only offer the next day during hours I had to work. The salon manager apologized for Sal and offered another hair dresser. I have curly hair and want someone experienced in curly hair- especially when the haircut is right before my wedding and will cost hundreds of dollars. I think the worst part was that Sal was right there but simply didn't have the courtesy to apologize. I will never return to this salon. As for my wedding in two weeks, I have asked my makeup artist to help me find someone.

She is 100% the doctor and the surgeon. I got exactly what | asked for. Read that again: EXACTLY what I asked for. Having experienced the accuracy of an exclusively blonde colorist, I cannot overstate that value. 3) Communication It's possible your colorist may have to interpret what you're asking for. It's possible this takes time. Cait spent time with me. Of course, I turned to Yelp for the scoop and zeroed in on Ms. Glen's Therapeutic Manicures & Pedicures. I finally got a chance to go see Ms. Glen and it was everything I wanted and more. It was relaxing (I fell asleep)! It was restorative! My feet felt and looked healthy and cared for. I didn't get polished which is great because I have been wanting to go natural for a while to let my nails breathe and focus on what's really happening with my toe nail health. So may things I loved (in no particular order): - Very communicative from the appointment (via phone) to the confirmation and directions (via text) - Ms. Glen greeted me at the door - The studio smells divine (really sets the tranquil mood) - The studio was intimate (just me - yay) - The space was very clean (I am a stickler for clean) - There was a complimentary water waiting on me - Ms. Glen has developed her own techniques and products which speaks to her dedication and specialization (I love people who are passionate about what they do!) - Every step of the treatment was appreciated! (very detailed, very attentive, think - pampering your feet from the in-depth massage to the parrafin to the soaks to the grooming and much much more) - I got socks! This was such a special and much needed last step that I never knew I needed. It made my feet more comfortable and protected after such a beautiful treatment. She even asked me my size. How's that for customer service! - Now this one may seem trivial but I never had to hold my feet up during the treatment unless I was transitioning from the bowl to a towel. I do not like having to do that while someone attends to the bottom of my feel or heels. Ms. Glen has it worked out where I can truly relax the whole time. I also left with one of Ms. Glen's therapeutic hand and foot oils in Lemon. She makes the oils herself! It smells so good and leaves a refreshing but not overpowering scent. It feels good oiling my feet every night. Like another reviewer said, this is not your run of the mill pedicure shop. This is a therapeutic service that is worth every penny. My goal is to make this a regular treatment. If my feet are healthy, I am healthier! Thanks Ms. Glen for such a wonderful experience! I'll be back. And thanks again for the massage therapist recommendation. Rest and recovery, here I come!

If your feet are in need of TLC, renewal and restoration, Ms. Glen has a carefully curated service that will leave your feet feeling brand new. I had recently purchased a soap that helps with skin discoloration. It hasn't been making any improvement in the uneven skin tone and dark marks on my feet. Turns out I just needed an appointment with Ms. Glen. The exfoliation she provided literally rubbed away 15 years from my feet. My dry scratchy heels were left supple and smooth and the calloused areas were left soft. Had I known what I was in store for I would have taken before and after pictures. She even provided socks for me to leave in, to seal in the moisture. My favorite part hands down was the massage. She kneaded into these tired soles, and I needed that! I paid a little more than the price listed (which she does quote as a base price) but she also spent almost 2x the amount of time listed. My Fiancé noticed the difference in appearance and feel immediately. I intentionally waited until 24 hours+ had passed to write this review, wanting to see if my feet would feel just as nice. THEY DO!! Ms. Glen definitely puts pride in her work and I love how she checked in throughout the process to ensure I was satisfied along the way. I recommend her service to anyone looking to give their feet a more youthful feel and look. And if your feet have severe issues that might keep you from visiting open public salons, her private suite will help you feel comfortable and secure. Right before I left, Ms. Glen threw in a bottle of her therapeutic hand & foot oil once she saw how dry my hands were. I had discussed my upcoming nuptials with her and she wanted to make sure my hands moisturized properly for my big day, even providing a demonstration on proper application. Ms. Glen is a gem!

I trusted the front desk staff to guide me, and was quoted $80 for Gel-X, builder gel removal, and French tip. At my appointment on Friday 7/18, I was unexpectedly charged $110! I was told the card on file couldn't be used for the service--only for late fees or no-shows--which made no sense. If the salon can charge the card for penalties, why not for the actual service being provided? This was especially frustrating because the appointment was a gift for a huge accomplishment of mine, from my mother, so of course I didn't have the physical card with me. On top of that I was also charged extra for nail length without warning, and billed twice for polish: $20 for gel color and $15 for French tip, even though I only received 1 design; french tip. When I asked for clarification, staff just pointed to the online pricing--but I booked in person to avoid that confusion. The experience felt misleading. I intentionally came in person to avoid confusion and relied on the staff to guide me accurately. Unfortunately, that did not happen. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. If you're considering booking here, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere for more transparent and customer-friendly service.

Have you ever felt frustrated, because you could never find the right words to communicate your vision to whomever you were consulting with? If not, then great, but for me, it was a struggle. I tried so hard to trust and communicate what I wanted to every person I let paint my hair, to then be let down everytime I left the chair. After 10 years of having my hair done by many sets of hands, I became accustomed to it; thinking I was the problem for simply lacking in communication, so I accepted what was always given to me. Now we can fast forward to the consultation that I'll never forget. I happened to meet with Beau THREE days after I had my hair "highlighted" by my ex-colorist. Something in me told me to see him & I'm so happy I listened to my heart. The first time I sat in his chair, was the first time I ever felt at ease. His warm presence alone, is something a hair school can't teach. He started off by asking me my hair goals, taking the time to listen & in the midst I could already see something in him that set him apart from everyone else. His wheels were turning, observing every section to see what state my hair was in & then sharing with me what he could do to put me in alignment with those goals. He filled me with so much insight that I made an appointment to see him the following week. I can't stress enough how thankful I am to meet this man, because in ONE session alone, he made a transformation that every other colorist told me would take several months to achieve. For instance, my blonde didn't lay naturally how it should have prior to meeting him (a disastrous ombre of uneven tones). The colorist I was seeing prior had been telling me that my ends couldnt be as bright as my base because it would damage my hair. One sitting and Beau fixed it. Something that I was convinced was impossible. I turned around to look at myself in the mirror for the first time and I was brought to tears. Obviously not the first time I've cried, but the first time they were happy tears. He sprinkled his vision from base to ends and I finally felt like the words I could never find to describe were there in plain view & way better than I had ever imagined. Make a consultation. What do you have to lose? I promise you he will take just as much care of you as he did me. Having moved from London to LA, and leaving behind my beloved stylist of nearly 20 years, I dreaded the search for new hair people. I was recommended a very fancy, high-priced salon in Beverly Hills, which frankly turned out to be an awful experience - dropping a ridiculous amount of money I walked away with highlights that were terrible, left a very obvious regrowth lines and a color that was brassy, topped off with a crappy cut that left layered chunks missing from what was a perfectly blunt Bob. Obviously I wasn't going back there! Yelp to the rescue! After doing an in-depth search, and some "affectionate surveillance" via Instagram, I decided to try the Beau / Chaie duo at The Powder Room, and I can't describe how thrilled I am that I did. Beau spent time asking me what I wanted to achieve from my blond(ish) highlights, what kind of color / look I wanted, questions about the roots/regrowth, how it was styled etc etc, really taking the time to find out about me and my hair wishes. And I'm delighted to say he far exceeded my hopes in just the first visit. I came away with a beautiful rich natural beach blond look I've only dreamt of having until now (I'm naturally a dark brunette). Not only that, but Beau is hilarious, and just wonderful company to natter with while you're sitting in his chair. I was then passed over to the delightful Chaie. Again, I was asked in depth questions about what I wanted before she started wielding the scissors. Whilst we giggled, gossiped and swapped fabulous stories, she created the most precise and meticulous cut ever, which not only managed to repair much of the damage done by the previous BH stylist (a little still needs to grow out) but meant I left with a stunning sharp cut that even days later, and after several washes, still styles like I've just walked out of the salon, even in my untrained hands! I thought I was going to have to salon hop for a while until I found the right fit for me, but I'm delighted to say my search is most definitely over. *** Since that first appointment at The Powder Room, Beau and Chaie have moved to pastures new - and I couldn't be more pleased for them both. I'm happy to say I continue to see them both here at Salon Beau (Chaie comes in on request) and am still as thrilled with my hair several months later as I was with the first visit. I don't ever do yelp reviews but I just had to do one for Beau! He is AMAZING. I've gotten my hair colored before with other people and it's never been a great experience, it was like whatevers and kinda boring so I stopped doing it for a while. This month I decided to change up my hair (new year, new me lol) I went to Beau and I cannot emphasize enough how amazing he is at what he does. I wasn't sure how to explain what I wanted but he totally got it. He asked me about the history of my hair which I loved because the past colorists I've been to just start coloring without asking me anything. He told me what he planned on doing before he started, which I appreciated. He was very patient with my hair, I have A LOT of hair. But he never showed any signs of frustration or anything, he made me feel comfortable. It took a few hours and I Love LOVE my hair!! It was well worth the money. To think of the years and money I wasted on other people. I'm so happy I found Beau! He's a true artist. With great hair, comes great confidence. And it's all thanks to Beau! From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave, he makes you feel welcomed. He gives off such a positive vibe, I love it. I'm trying to think of what to say that hasn't already been said, but it's ALL TRUE. Beau is a master of his craft and years ahead of his time. If you want a color that is current and flattering, just go sit in his chair. Something I really respect about Beau is that despite his expertise and ever growing clientele, he is always striving to stay educated and ahead of the trends, (he's like a hair trend forecaster!) The sign of a truly great colorist is how it looks months after... and if you follow his after care guidelines your hair will continue to look fresh AF. If you want a blonde that gives you a fresh glow, that somehow looks natural even with your brown eyes and eyebrows, go see Beau. He WILL find a blonde that looks good on you. Not that it really needs to be said, but Beau is also a lovely, genuine, humble (and hilarious) person that truly cares about the integrity of his work and making his clients feel beautiful. I'm not the most feminine woman but let's face it everyone wants to be pretty and feel sexy! Beau is the one stylist that I know will always make me look good and feel good. If I am having a few bad days I know I need to go get my hair done by Beau or on my happiest day which was my wedding I knew I could count on Beau to create the perfect blond highlights and the curls that fell ever so perfectly. The only complaint I have is that for some reason he doesn't show up at my house every morning to do his mind blowing blow outs!?!? He listens to what you want, he is honest about what will look good on you or what won't and he is willing to grow with you and develop you as your own brand. I have been getting my hair done by Beau for two years, and have really tested all of his skills and color wizardry in the process, going from black to platinum blonde, to pink, purple, and then back to black. Beau is a master of his craft. He concocts these color mixtures that, until now, I thought could only be made with the use of multiple instagram filters. My biggest issue with colorists is that my color always comes out too warm-toned. Beau is the first one who understands my obsession with keeping cool, and has never disappointed, even spanning the entire color spectrum, as we have. He's just the best!!! read more

The first time I came to see Beau was for a color correction. I had tried to go from my natural brown hair color to blonde with a different colorist, but it turned out orange. Within one session Beau was able to transform my hair from orange to a beautiful beachy blonde. Ever since I haven't let anyone else touch my hair! Beau does great work at a fair price. He's especially good at getting colors right for olive or yellow toned skin. I'm a pale Latina with warm overtones in my skin and he was actually able to make me look like a natural blonde. Everyone else gave me blonde hair that looked wrong against my skin, but Beau was able to give me the right tones with painting and the appropriate color. read more

The next morning, I received a text asking if I could come in much earlier due to a scheduling change. As a hairstylist myself, I knew exactly what was happening. Someone had canceled, and they were trying to fill a gap in the stylist's schedule. No problem. I rearranged my own day, moved a call, and made it work. What I don't understand is why I was then left waiting for about 20 minutes after I arrived. If you're asking clients to change their schedules to accommodate yours, shouldn't their time be respected too? That immediately put a bad taste in my mouth, especially after learning the reason for the schedule change was a cancellation. I went out of my way to help avoid a gap in the stylist's day, only to end up sitting there waiting anyway. The salon itself is beautiful, and the owner was very nice. However, during the shampoo service, the towels smelled strongly of mildew. Every time one was used, that's all I could smell. As for the haircut, it was fine. Not terrible. Not amazing. Just very mid. For a salon charging well over $200 for a haircut, I expected something that felt a little more special. The weirdest part was checkout. When I went to pay, they told me they weren't charging me because it was "just a trim." I still left a $100 tip, but honestly, it felt less like a complimentary service and more like they knew the experience hadn't gone particularly well. I was also given a candle, which was a nice gesture, but it didn't really change the overall experience. At the end of the day, if you're charging luxury prices, people expect a luxury experience. Between being asked to rearrange my schedule, waiting 20 minutes after doing so, the mildew smelling towels, and a haircut that was ultimately just okay, I don't think the experience matched the price point. Manage your expectations and be prepared to wait, even if the salon asks you to change your appointment time to accommodate them.
