I've been thinking about getting a perm for awhile now so that I don't have to curl my ultra-fine, pin-straight hair all the time. After doing some research online and finding several glowing reviews of Lueria Miller's perms (among her other hairstyling talents) as well as looking at her website, lueria.com, I called FYI and set up a consultation. I was a little nervous because online information had made it sound like getting a perm was a risky business and something to put a lot of thought and research into. Lueria was so warm, so professional, so enthusiastic, and so obviously experienced, that within a minute I had total confidence in her and what she could do for my hair. I booked a slot for three days later. And she didn't let me down!!! The perm is fabulous, and I feel like a new woman. No more being frustrated with my volumeless, boring, seemingly-hopeless hair every day. Lueria came in for me specially that morning to fit my schedule, and was so welcoming and excited. It was quick and easy and she was extremely friendly and enjoyable to chat to. She also recommended hair products to me and gave me some samples, as well as instructing me about caring for my new curls. I can't recommend her too much. I plan to stay permed from now on--I just don't know what I'll do when I head back to Europe because I can't afford to fly her over there! I plan to go to her when I next need a haircut, too. As for the salon itself, it's a lovely, bright setting with big windows, and I was offered tea and coffee (and chocolate!). There were a couple of other customers there and such a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. If you're thinking about getting a perm, let Lueria transform your hair! read more

This was my first time with a new stylist in years and I was feeling a little nervous, particularly with my long overdue for a cut, self-dyed box blonde mane of glory. Lueria made me feel incredibly comfortable, incredibly fast-- like we'd been friends for ages. I could tell right away that she has a combination of years of experience along with an eye for current styles and trends. Basically, she knows her stuff. Convenience factor too: you can book an appointment online at lueria.com. That's what I did, and it was really simple. When I arrived, I showed a few pics of the style I wanted and with a flash of scissors I had that exact cut-- seriously, she was so fast but it was EXACTLY the cut I wanted and it looks fantastic! Also, I was feeling a little out of place with the salon being in such a trendy area of the Pearl. If you're feeling that way too, DON'T WORRY. Lueria was so incredibly down to earth and laid back, honestly like hanging out with a friend. I can't recommend her enough! Lueria is a fantastic stylist!! She is the very best, she will listen to what your goals are for your hair, give you ideas, and will follow through each and every time! I have never been disappointed with the results. Lueria will work with you on your schedule, even opens early at 6am to accommodate her clients (who does this?), and has passion for her work-this clearly shows. She has colored my hair (translation-covered very stubborn GREY hair), and has cut my hair many times. She even takes continuing classes to learn trends and techniques-an investment in her clients! I don't know how Lueria does this, but even her snips or small angled cuts make all the difference in how my hair lays. Yes, she gets it!! The day of my wedding I was incredibly stressed, like most brides are. My future husband had only been home from Afghanistan for 6 days and I had just finished my last round of finals and graduation the day before the wedding. Yikes! Fortunately, my husband in his infinite wisdom instructed me to let his mother's best friend style my hair for our big day. I am so happy he did, as I could not have been happier with the results. Not only is Lueria an exceptionally talented stylist, she is also a wonderful friend. She had coffee delivered to help keep me alert and was helpful in calming my anxiety about the the wedding. I wanted a change, so I went to Lueria at FYI Salon and asked her to dye my hair. I'm a young college student, and I haven't dyed my hair in about four years. I've been blonde all my life, but I told her I want dark brown with some warmth which is exactly what she did. I absolutely love the way it looks and feels! Lueria is great. She really listens to what you want, and she takes her time making sure everything is how you want it. I have very long hair, and I am pretty attached to it! Thank you FYI!! Lueria Miller is amazing!! I came in with extremely damaged hair from an over bleaching that melted my hair. I have long hair and knew it would have to be cut to get the damage out. Lueria assessed my situation and assured me that not only did it not have to be cut but with time and treatments of a great product regiment it would be healthy once again. She was careful with details and understanding what I wanted. Overall it was one of the better cuts I have had. After mine cut she did my wife who has very very long hair but also an undercut. We came in for the undercut but she did end up getting 4" cut off to ensure that the hair remained healthy. It was a good suggestion. When I sat in her chair, she commented how great my hair looked grown out. I said I wanted to continue to grow it out and she firmed stated "no." Then I said I wanted the hairstyle more blunt where the back is not shorter than the front and another "no." Finally I showed her a photo with cute bangs and a third "no" so all things I communicated I wanted in my hairstyle were dismissed. She stacked the back after communicating to her I how much I dislike this. The side are choppy with uneven layers. (see photos). While I appreciate Nichole's strong personality and opinions, at the end of the day I am the client paying for the service. Not once did she apologize or show concern in our text messages. She refunded the cut but it will be a year before it grows back to the length I had before this unfortunate incident.
