If I could I would give this place zero stars. I went in with high hopes to get my hair cut short. My hair dresser was Nayeli and she looked about 20 years old. When I showed up I was expecting to have my hair cut by Samatha as that's who I was originally booked with via confirmation text. That wasn't a big deal so I thought.. I explained to nayeli what kind of cut I wanted as well as the dye of my money pieces not to forget I showed her pictures as well. She first cut my hair dry to a perfect length originally then she began to dye my money pieces I told her specifically I wanted them to the root which she did not do also completely missed a portion of my hair in the front. I came in with my hair boxed dye because I haven't got it professionally done since the start of Covid so I completely understood that my hair wouldn't lift as much as I hoped the first time. But then she took me to the sink and probably left me in there unattended for half hour the only reason she came back to wash my hair out from letting it tone a little bit was because my aunt who was with me told her to. She came back then told me we were gonna trim my hair and I would be all set. I told her okay I did not want my hair to be blow dried because I was already so upset with the dye and she goes on to say " well it's my work at the end of the day so I would like to finish" and that's when I was in complete shock and she began to chop and chop my hair to almost a pixie cut which is what I DID NOT WANT. Then her hands began to shake as she realized that I was becoming more upset she went on to say " if you have a problem with the cut you can come back and have it fixed" and I was nearly in tears by then ignoring her. I told her it was much shorter than I asked for she then said " well at least hair grows back". After that I ended up walking out of the salon looking like Willy Wonka LITERALLY. I ended getting my money refunded which was the least she could do after her unprofessional comments. Moral of the story is even though you are a licensed stylist does NOT mean you should be doing hair. I would never recommend anyone to go to Nayeli so save yourself before it's too late read more

I have been going to Salon Cheval for about 1 year and 3 months now. The place is modern and airy. lots of open space. Usually I dont have to wait more than a few minutes and they always have coffee, water and sometimes cookies or breads. Thwrw is a small table for kids to sit and be occupied while mom get their hair done. I, My daughter, grandson and granddaughter all get our hair done by Angela. She is a doll! She always has helpful suggestions and is not afraid to tell me if she thinks something will not look good. I originally went to her only for a cut, but when i found how reasonable the color treatments are i was sold! i went from black to almost blond from October to March. I will be back to go platinum. Oscar was 30 minutes late and never apologized. I asked for highlights and a dark gray color and cut. He said I would have shiny silver highlights "as the color faded." Instead, I got overly bleached hair with a brassy brown and NO highlights. The cut was almost exactly what I said I didn't want. This was my first visit to Salon Cheval and I was very impressed. The outside is totally deceiving. It looks like it would be small and probably not too nice, but once you walk in, it's a totally different story. The place is huge...very open with plenty of space between each station. The feel if very relaxed but still modern and "hip." I gave this place 5 stars not because of the actual building itself, but because of the service i received. I made an appointment with Dianna and she was great. I wasn't too sure as the to the style i wanted, all I knew is that I wanted something different (maybe a little bit lighter in color and a tiny bit short in length). We went over colors and she actually showed me pieces of colored hair. That was great because she placed them by my face to see which colors would complement me best. Once we got the colors down, we went over pictures of different haircut styles. She then offered me a cup coffee and a declisous pastry and we begun. About 2 and a half hours later, I had great color and a very nice cut. I am so glad that I went to her. I will for sure be going back to her again. read more

I've been going back to Oscar for about a year and a half now! He did balayage last January and it looked natural and the color was beautiful. It's faded out a bit but has maintained a really good color. He's also awesome with styling my hair, even with it being so long! Definitely recommend this salon as a whole and Oscar. When I called to make an appointment for hair and makeup for my wedding day, I asked how much it would cost. The receptionist told me $55 for hair and makeup, unless I decided not to get false eyelashes - then it would be $50. I said, "It's the same price for the practice run and the day of the wedding?" because I had assumed it would be cheaper for the practice run. She said yes. I said okay. I made appointments for the practice run and the wedding day. I'm not going to write the woman's name who did my hair and makeup, because she was really nice. I liked her as a person. However: 1. She tried to talk me out of teasing my hair so it would have volume at the crown, and I had to ask her to do it several times before she would. When she finally did, it came out lopsided. I thought the reason she was resistant to it was that she personally thinks teased hair looks bad, but after I see how it came out, maybe she's resistant to it because it's hard for her to do. 2. I told her my wedding was going to be outdoors in the afternoon and stressed it needed to look good in natural sunlight. When I walked out of the salon and looked in the mirror, my face was a noticeably darker shade than my neck and chest. 3. In the car on the way home I noticed my eyeliner was smudged, even though I hadn't touched my eyes. It smudged from me moving my face. I'd expect a makeup artist to use smudge-proof eyeliner for a wedding. 4. In the car on the way home I noticed the false eyelashes were placed too high on my eyelids. Imagine a row of false lashes, then a gap, then my real eyelashes. I was really unhappy with the price bait-and-switch, so when I called to cancel my wedding day appointment, I told the receptionist about how frustrated I was about the unclear pricing. She defended herself by saying the prices are listed in the salon and on the website. I told her I believed the receptionist when she told me it was $55 for hair and makeup, so I did not separately look up the price to verify that the receptionist was telling me the truth. That's not something I should have to do. If EACH service costs a certain amount, the way to communicate that is by using the word EACH. If BOTH services cost one amount, the way to communicate that is by using the word AND. "Hair AND makeup for $55" means BOTH for $55. The receptionist should have said, "Hair and makeup EACH cost $55, unless you don't get false eyelashes, and then the makeup is $50." I'm disappointed I wasted an afternoon and over $100. read more

I have been going to Salon Cheval for over two years now. I have made the transitions of having black brown hair to now having almost golden blond. I was a super scary decision to make at first and especially thinking about who would I ever let touch my hair. I was recommended Diana through family and since going to her I have not gone anywhere else and I have trusted no one else with my hair. Dianna is a miracle worker. I went to Salon Cheval after a disastrous experience at another hair place where the lady literally cut my hair into two or three tiers (her idea of layering, I guess). I went in expecting that my hairdresser would have to cut my hair even shorter to even out the horrible "layers" and start all over. I found this place by reading these reviews on here so I have to be honest. I scheduled an appointment which included a hair cut. At the end of my process, I was told there was no time for the cut because my application took longer than expected?? I felt bad but who has the time for another day to come back in and sit for another appointment. I was going to have a brand new color on top of out grown, out layered hair? I ended up getting the cut but I felt like there was tension after that.. The next client came in for their appt. And it was a simple haircut also? I spent nearly $200 for my services and $50 of that was for this haircut. My hair was simply blow dried straight by someone else all together. I'm a little disappointed. I love Vanessa at Salon Cheval. I changed stylist/salons since my haircut was always the same, even though I would bring different pictures. When I first met Vanessa, she was friendly and talked to me about my hair type, style I wanted, etc. I was in hair heaven. Not only did Vanessa do my hair for my wedding, she managed to help me achieve a lighter color on my long, thick dark brown hair. It looked amazing and healthy considering she had to strip my color off. She took her time and researched how to do this without damaging my hair. It was beautiful. My haircut was done by a new stylist name Gia. She was very professional and made sure she understood what I was looking for, I can be very picky. On top of the atmosphere, getting my hair washed before a haircut was something I'm not used to at a barber shop but I really liked it! Elise beautifully colors hair. If you ask her, she will share her expertise on the molecular structure of hair color types/ calibers (which I found 'tres interesant'). I've come to this welcoming salon over the years and have been helped by many stylists, from hair cuts, to updos, and of course, color. I am always able to get in to see a stylist on time, per my time needs, and get what I need done in a decent time frame. These things are important, because this hasn't been the case for me at other salons, where a stylist may be over scheduling several clients at a time and generally unavailable when I need them. Right now I'm sporting black hair and bangs with long straight hair. In time, I will pick Elise's brain for new suggestions, I'm sure. For now, I'm rocking the do! read more
