I am just passing though NJ, but after some Google search I found this salon. It was close to me and the cost seemed reasonable on their website (135+ for bayalage). Which is totally normal for my hair, it's usually 250 after tip. My salon experience cost me 414 after tip, which is mind blowing-I was so flawed over the price my hair color didn't hit until the next morning. I shouldn't have offered to pay before the service was over, I was just being kind so the owner didn't have to come back and close up after us. I never got a recept or a breakdown of what I was charged for. I have a feeling I was charged for additional services I didn't ask for, nor should have been warranted for a bayalage. I had Yngrid as my stylist and I LOVE how she cut and thinned my hair, but she missed the mark on the color after showing her pictures and telling her how I wanted it. Ultimately my hair was just highlighted an ugly gray color, it was "glazed," which I've never had done, and a root treatment...the point of a bayalage is that it doesn't start at the root, which I had stated in the chair...I wanted it to start a few inches from my root. Therefore a root treatment should have never been needed to "blend" the color. While I was also getting my hair done a client came in because she was not happy of the color of her hair. If I had time I would have gone back to have them tone it but I'm on the go and work late. I took time out of work to have my hair done (it was very over due). Overall this salon over charges for services, and it seems like the artists just do their own thing. If you can't simulate the style in the photos don't do the hair!

I got my hair cut by Cynthia and she did an incredible job, totally understood what I was going for, and delivered. She was more conservative and thoughtful when it came to the fringe and ended up giving me the perfect result. I appreciate when a stylist gives feedback on what might look good or be a good option given lifestyle, etc.. Cynthia is thoughtful, real, & talented and I'll 100% be back. All the other ladies at the salon were really kind, knowledgeable, and fun to talk to. The space itself has good vibes & great lighting.

She did a great job with my highlights and left me in awe. I was recommending everyone I knew to her, I was singing her praises. I even took my own aunt (who lives in NY) to this place. I made her come here for HAIR. Fast forward to July 1 2021. My cousin was getting married and I needed my hair done really nice. My hair was grown out. The artist I went to claims it is was 6 inches, maybe there was but it didn't seem like it to me because the highlights from the previous job were still pretty high. I told her I want a full head of highlights, and I want them the same color as I want them last time. She kept talking about how much regrowth I had and that the salon usually doesn't allow this much regrowth to be worked on (which i found so odd) but that she would do it for me anyway. I was pleased that she would do my hair because I liked her work... ALOT. I didn't get my hair blow dried because I was going to do it myself and see and feel the hair because I like my hair done a certain way and no one can achieve the look on yourself the way you would know. And I don't know what it is about salon lighting, but everything looks great under it. So I am like okay it looks good. It wasn't something that I was absolutely in love with but I thought maybe I don't like it because it my hair is still wet. I get home and I'm trying to blowdry my hair and it's YELLOW. I asked for neutral toned hair, and I came back with YELLOW. There was no blending done in the highlights, the bleach bled everywhere, my hair strands were making me look like a zebra. I messaged the artist and she was like come back tomorrow and we will fix it. I show up the next day, July 2 2021, and first thing's first I spoke to the manager and asked for a 50% refund because this was ridiculous but at the same time I felt bad that she spent so much time and effort on my hair so I thought it was reasonable to ask for 50% and I got it to. I went to the artist after speaking to the manager and she has an attitude with me. Acting like she doesn't see what I am talking about, being weird about the 3-4 places I showed her that were looking bad. And at the end of it I was like, "Please take a comb and look through the layers of my hair. Look at the bled bleach that is on my hair and look at the chunkiness and the look of it." And she see does that and goes, "Ah, I see what you're talking about. But I don't know how this happened. You see, you had a lot of regrowth." And I cut her off, like excuse me??? Me having regrowth does not mean you botch my hair. But she said she was going to fix it. And she did - only the parts that were very visible. She fixed the parts that were on top of my head, but anything in the layers of my hair was still the same. She fixed the tone of my hair so I was okay with that but I didn't realize she didn't thoroughly fix my hair. She made sure that I was so satisfied, she was giving me their top hair mask services, and blow drying and cutting my hair, making sure I was as happy as could be. When I left the salon, I was satisfied and I thought everything was great, but boy was I wrong. I am in California now, I am getting my hair done by hair stylists because I am the (technically) sister of the groom and I am front and center and I was having all these intricate hair styles done on me, but every time I sat in the chair of the hairstylist, they said "I can't do this hairstyle because your highlights are is chunky from within and there are so many harsh lines that it will show and it will look bad." So the entire wedding, I WORE MY HAIR ONE WAY. Straight or blow-dried. I was there for about 2.5 weeks so I couldn't even come back and get it fixed again because I had been gone for quite a while. It was a fine job for the price but if you want something efficient and decent, it did that. There is an uncharge to pay by credit card. They have a price list upon request from behind the counter. I wish they had their prices out on display and on their website. In this day and age, it should be easy to make prices transparent. Inside was clean but nothing fancy. I would come back now that I took the pricing guide.

I have not gone local to a salon for 7 years because people have made me feel bad for the thickness in my hair in the past and did a bad job. But, Studio G, I've learned today, is definitely where I'll be going and recommending from now on. 20% your first time there, and for getting color, blow out, and a cut it was reasonably priced I feel (around $100). Had gone to many different salons with very different pay scales. I can't say enough about Studio G & Brianna. She nailed it!!! I was very happy with the results, professionalism, & cleanliness of the shop. It was my first time there & Brianna made sure she kept looking at the picture that I wanted my hair to look like. Most places I've gone to prior, you show them a picture & they never look at it again & just do what they want to do. Brianna had a lot of different steps she had to take for processing the color I wanted w/o damaging my hair. I very highly recommend this salon & Brianna. It's were I'll be going every time & so will you if you give them a chance.
