Love this place! My hair is pretty standard and easy to cut, so this affordable one stop shop is perfect for me. Mani, Pedi, and haircut all for under 60 bucks. Cheap, clean, friendly, and my toes don't chip for weeks! $30 haircut is done by a super friendly guy who was trained at Vidal Sassoon so you know you aren't going to some whack shack. This mom and pop shop makes a day of pampering affordable. read more

Ly Duong is a decent hair cutter. For the price of getting your hair done ($20/haircut; $50+ wave), it is really not bad. He is extremely friendly, and since he owns the joint, he can even make exceptions. (He let a girl come in for a straightening at 7 PM which is the time he closes on Sunday--other salons aren't even open on Sundays!) Another thing is that his wife does nails. Haircut: I love this place especially the owner and the employees. I accidentally did a "no show" for a haircut appointment. They were nice enough to let it slide and not be snooty about it. I walked in around 1030am (They open at 10am not 9:30am as listed) and was pampered by the owner. He shampooed and cut my hair. He was so precise in his cutting and too his time. The blow out was very nice and I loved it. His other employees were so cute. I heard mixed stories about their waxing and that they use hard wax rather than the strips (which I need done since hardwax is sensitive for my skin). read more

Excellent quality work at very reasonable prices. I used to pay $300 minimum at a Union Square salon for my roots, cut and blow dry. Salon Devie charges me less than half of that and for the exact same quality work. I am so happy I have found them during this hard economic times! read more

So I've gone to my fair share of salons to get waxing done on most parts of my body and most have been less than sterling experiences at most. I've been searching my part of the city for a decently priced Brazilian wax (mine was $35) whose store front doesn't say "What's sterilization?" The interior was clean and appealing, with lots of light and pleasing colors. Amy was the woman who did my waxing and after getting over my initial embarrassment, was easy to talk to even through some of the more painful parts of the waxing. She was very thorough and it was on the whole, the least painful of any of the waxings I've had in the past. read more

First of all, this place is no longer closed- unless I completely hallucinated the excellent half hour Chinese massage I experienced here yesterday. My go-to massage place down the block referred me to Devie when they could not squeeze me in at my preferred time. Lavie was recommended as "LEGITIMATE Chinese massage"- scoped the prices, $35 for half hour massage? Worth a shot. Definitely NO FRILLS massage, but did the trick- I would describe Chinese massage as a cross between Swedish and Thai- lots of oil, kneading, and mounting (for those of you who've experienced Thai massage, you know what this is all about). Half an hour definitely did the trick and I walked out a few inches taller. The women who work here are efficient, the place is clean (albeit sterile), the prices are right, and the massage hits the spot! read more

Super fantastic. Ok I've never had a mani/pedi spa, so it was about time girlfriend. I'm a man, pretty much a Neanderthal, yet I'm also gay, so there's no excuse for not having a mani/pedi in my life. That's why we have a new day every day to explore new ways to pamper ourselves. This place wasn't packed, nothing like the overflowing salons of sorority hell in the Marina. It felt very homemade and welcoming. I love the massage chairs and the foot soak, massage, the works. I'd recommend a few more refreshments other than just water or white wine, however, they were great! Thorough, funny, nice, and bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. I may just have to come back every couple weeks for a little pampering. read more

Great neighborhood nail and hair salon - very clean and tidy. They are super friendly and always remember my name. Pedicures are great as are manicures and tips/acrylics. Acrylics definitely last for a full week and sometimes two. They have lots of great nail polish choices. They also do wash/blow dry which was awesome as I was feeling lazy, and the blowout lasted for 3 days. Prices are excellent. read more

This is my favorite salon. The girls here give a great mani/pedi. Clean and gentle, yet get the job done! My pedicures from here last a good three weeks! However, after the remodeling, I think they got a new manager. The don't have ANY magazines anymore and they now have only two nail chairs. What happened? I totally agree with Maureen. Ly is great. He just opened the salon and it's extremely clean. He remembered me immediately when I went back for my second haircut. Not only did he remember me, but he remembered how I like my haircut and he did a hell of a job cutting it too. I don't have complicated hair, but he cut it like a pro. He also did a great job on my girlfriend, I think he charged her 30 bucks and she got I guess they are called layers? I think the last time she went to one of the "chop shops" she got something that looked more like an amazing mullet. Not the case here. read more

I needed a haircut BADLY and found this cute little salon. I took a picture of what I wanted my hair to look like - the guy looked like he understood, but the final look turned out WAAAYY different. It was still cute though so I left happy. he cut off all my dead hair and now i am back to shiney healthy hair! WOO HOO. I also got a mani pedi - which was cool it lasted me over a week, the best part it was all $61. I'll bring my happy ass back here again! read more

Eh. I got what I needed done (mani/ pedi)...after nearly two hours! Gen and I stopped by after a lovely day walking around Hayes Valley. I am pretty sure we came around 4:15 or so, we were immediately told to chose colors and sit down in the massage chairs. The woman doing my pedi (we'll call her W1) was very nice, she started of quickly and was careful not to scrub too hard on my incredibly "in need of a pedicure" feet (the running will do it, trust me). Once she finished the polishing and my feet had been drying for quite some time, I thought she would start on the hands. However, the woman that was doing Gen's nails (we'll call her W2) had to move her car, and W1 went over to finish Gen's nails and I sat there waiting for quite a while thinking that maybe W2 would just come back and do mine. It was nearing 6 by this point (and I had somewhere to be mind you) so I was getting a bit frustrated. Eventually W2 comes back from moving her car, but instead of finishing up on my nails, it appears she is going to work on a completely different client! I had to say something at this point, so eventually they remembered about me and quickly did my manicure. In the end it was fine, I like the color, but the service just seemed a bit discombobulated. Next time I will try The Pampered Girl in Hayes Valley. read more

BEWARE!!!! Indignant, rude and sleazy! If this is what you want then go here! I was walking by last night when I noticed the newly remodeled "spa" with the foot massage seats in the window so I thought I'd stop in for a foot rub. Hey, for $30 per hour who could one go wrong? Well, let me tell you. First of all, the guy sitting next to me questioned whether or not the girl massaged his feet for a full hour. He claimed it was about 8 min short. I should have taken this as a clue that disaster was on its way. My massage girl comes out and gives me a massage that also ran short. It was an OK foot rub and I was in the mood to relax rather than argue so I accepted it. She suggested a body massage as well. Foolishly I agreed. Thinking this place was legitimate I went into the private massage room thinking I had hired a massage theroapist....not a HOOKER! 45 min into the massage I am on my back and she is massaging my stomach uncomfortably close to my waistline. All of a sudden she puts her hands on my penis and asks if I want that "rubbed" too. I casually said no and tried to relax and deal with the remaining few minutes. I'm no stranger to this having been to Asia and had it happen there. However, at that, the tone of the massage changed. She became hurried as if she could not wait to get out of there. She left the room and before I could even get my shorts on she comes barging back in and strips the table and begins cleaning up abruptly. So much for relaxing and absorbing the massage for a couple of minutes while I dress in peace. I then ask where the bathroom is and she down the hall followed by :"What about my tip?!" Still trying to act cool about things I assured her I was not leaving without tipping her. So, I go use the bathroom and come to the front where she is waiting. The total for my services was $78. I tipped her $20, more than 25%. Hell, even in the top spas 20% is a solid tip and you get a quality service! Well, she turns to her buddy and starts obviously bitching in Chinese and looking at the $20 bill in her hand. I asked her what the problem was. At that she launches into how the tip is not enough because she gets $20 for an hour massage alone and I also got a foot massage. At that I had had it! I told her straight up that the reason she gets $20 tips for a $49 hour of average massage is that she is jacking off her customers and that I hired a massage therapist not a prostitute! I told her if she did not like the generous tip to give it back. She refuses and continues to complain! So, I ask for the manager, this women's name, etc. and get nothing. All of a sudden the girls in front who spoke fluent English perviously can't mumble a word of it. Disgusted, I left. So, if you want: Rude massage therapists Less time for the services than paid for Hookers instead of massage therapists An insulting experience A waste of time and money then by all means come to this place. They have it in abundance! read more

After reading the hilarious but somewhat racist ramblings submitted by Mr. Scrooge on Christmas Day my curiosity got the best of me and I decided to visit Salon Devie this week. I started with the foot massage for $30 which took place on a comfortable massage chair that actually massages your back four different ways as you control it with a remote. Before the foot massage you are given a whirlpool bath for your feet in a basin attached to the massage chair. This is the first place I have encountered such a luxury as most places provide only a bucket to wash your feet. The foot massage itself was very good and I enjoyed the double sensation with the back massage and I was able to close my eyes and relax for the remainder of the session which ran for over an hour from beginning to end. I was also surprised when the massage therapist asked me if I wanted to receive a facial. I accepted because my skin had felt very dry and for $40 more it was a good value. I tipped what I thought was appropriate for both services and I received appreciative smiles. I was actually most interested in the body massage but having spent two hours there already I decided that I would come back later for that. I was very impressed with this place from the standpoint of comfort, cleanliness, and professional attitude. I will return soon. read more
