I've never written a Yelp review before but I absolutely love to read them. I find them SO helpful. For my first review, I'd like to comment on the stellar service I recently received at Salon Di Amici. Even my initial phone call to schedule an appointment was great! I was greeted by friendly staff and received the BEST service from Jordan. He was so thorough in his explanation of everything he did, including the cut itself. Barbara also reviewed the cut and made a couple adjustments...she was super sweet too! I definitely recommend this place! Jordan is a magician and very thorough. My hair was damaged ,dull ,split ends, flat and not growing. Now my hair is shiny, luscious, and growing. The colur and cut is fantastic. I will never let anyone else touch my hair ever!!! The staff is also very friendly. read more

My hair has recently thinned due the extreme stress of losing close family members to cancer then having my husband diagnosed with Leukemia...as my usual stylist (downtown in the arts district) was fully booked for a few weeks and I had heard that this salon specialized in such cases i decided to try a consultation. On the day of the consultation the gentleman assured me that he had a method that would actually repair past damage and prevent further damage...he assured me of how relaxed the and easy going the salon was, told me he "NEVER OVERBOOKED" and would schedule plenty of additional time for my first appointment so he could take his time with my treatment (and my son's hair cut) then he sent me home with a ($30) at home pre treatment. Sounds like heaven right? also I should add that he had NO CLIENTS while i was there and never mentioned why I had to wait so long for an appointment when I told him i could be available any day or time with a little advance notice. The salons location is EXACTLY 3 blocks (2 traffic lights) from my home. I had belatedly realized that my husband would be in Frisco TX having a medical procedure done on the same date I was given by the salon, my husband selflessly advised me to go to the appointment as we would be out of town for the next couple of weeks...So I (as an attorney) had totally rearranged and rescheduled my day/life around this appointment. I left my home at 2pm for the 2:30 appointment...At the first traffic signal (Bluebonnet Elementary) i am at the end of a line of stopped cars and construction SEEMS to be allowing one car to cross the intersection around every 3rd or 4th light change...This does not bother me at first as i know i have allowed myself plenty of time to transverse the few blocks to my destination... of course my mind wandered to worry about my husband and other issues during this time...by the time i realized the line had come to a complete stop I panicked and did a quasi legal turn in order to find an unobstructed route...it is 2:15 at this time...i realize the first couple of blocks are also at an impasse but finally make it into the parking lot DIRECTLY in FRONT of the window in full view of the shop @ 2:05...of course by this time I am panicked, tense and fumble every thing getting my son out of the carseat and gathering his snacks and toys to keep him occupied until time for HIS cut...I walk in the door at 2:10 take a seat in a very crowded small, bright and loud section with a few hard metal chairs around the windows (the very opposite of his description of a relaxed salon) and start deep breathing trying to relax...a few minutes later @ 2:15 the "gentleman" comes over to reprimand me in front of other clients and my son as he explains the salon is "tightly booked" and has a policy that if anyone is late...they must reschedule??? WTF? You would think that this "Policy" is something that the client would be cautioned of at the first consultation??? I hope they remain"overbooked" because this (usually $300-$400 client every 10 weeks) has decided never to spend a dime at this rude and pretentious place... read more

I love Salon di Amici! I have been using Barbara for at least 3 years and now they are in a great new location! They have the most amazing staff, good natured and they always make me smile. I always am so relaxed when I am there! Barbara does an amazing cut and lowlights/highlights on me! I get so many compliments on my cut and color! So after having my hair down to my lowerback for years, I decided to chop it off to just below my shoulders in layers with a V on the back.... I did it and hated it, because it was not done at Salon Di Amici, the stylist that first cut my hair massacred it, the layers were to short and uneven, the V in the back was crooked and one side was longer than the other, I was super upset. The next day I went to Salon Di Amici to get a corrective cut, Barbara ( the Owner) felt so bad about my situation that she offered a protein shot ( hope that's what it's called) on the house. Jordan really took the time to figure out what was going on with my hair, He was really great in explaining what he was doing to get it fixed, both He and Barbara worked their magic on my hair and I must say that I left there very satisfied. I will not trust my hair to no one else other than these two, They are true professionals. read more

Some of these reviews are pretty unfair. I have been coming to this salon for two years at this point, and it's very obvious to me how much they care about making their clients look their best. Went to this salon a couple of times, two different stylists. Second one, I think her name was Kendall, did a pretty good job, but $160, before tip, for cut and hilites seemed a lttle pricey for this area. Also, she left at least half of an inch of roots! I will go back to my old stylist. She is a bit farther but charges $50 less and her work is just as good. read more

I am new to the area and always had the same hair dresser growing up. For a few years now I've been trying to find the right place to go and get my hair cut and didn't think I'd ever find THE place. I was wrong. Today I went in for a fresh new look and booked an appointment with Barbara. Reading the rest of these reviews I realize the stars must have aligned for me to get an appointment so quickly. From the moment I walked in I was greeted with smiles from everyone and I had a good feeling. Barbara and her assistant chatted with me about life, my style, and were super friendly and supportive the entire time. They even helped me take my before and after pictures! I absolutely love the cut I got, and was even given some tips on how to recreate the look on my own. This place deserves more than the five stars I was able rate it. I'm a people person and to me the people are what set this place over the top. I went in a stranger and left feeling like I had been coming there for years. I will definitely be coming back for all my hair needs and recommending this place to all my friends. read more

I was really excited about this appointment. I was hoping for this salon to be my new home because it is so close to where I live. I booked an appointment with Jordan. I asked for an all over color to cover my gray (dark brown) and ombre highlights at the bottom. The highlighting process took forever, but it always does. He rinsed my hair and said he would cut my hair dry. Fine. We go back to the chair and he starts loading my hair with product, starting on the left side. Midway around my head he decided that he didn't like that product and stopped using it. After an hour of drying my hair (that takes me 5 minutes to dry) he says "well what do you think???"... I didn't know what to say... other than... I can't run my fingers through the left side of my head. It was a sticky gummy mess. And.... he was going to dry cut my hair with half of my hair sticky and gummy?!?! So he said - yeah, I don't like that product, lets rinse it out and start over...... remember.... we had just dried my hair for an hour. But ok... I'd rather get an even cut. SO he rewashes and conditions the portion of hair that is a mess. Dries it with a flat paddle brush in like 5 minutes (used a round brush on the rest of my hair). Now for the cut. I said I did not want anything off the length. I have long layers and it has been 6 or so weeks since I got my last cut. So they needed to be cleaned up. Well, I guess when I said I do not want anything off the length, it scared him... I did not see hardly any hair on the floor at all. He said my layers looked fine. So basically no cut. I wanted the ombre highlights so that I could do the big waves and it would look very "beachy". He said he did not want to curl my hair because he had used toner and didn't want it to heat back up.... even though he blowdried my hair for an hour. So when I left... I knew it wasn't what I wanted... but sometimes with highlights when you curl your hair, it looks better, so I left, willing to give it a chance. I curled my hair when I got home and no... it looks like CRAP. The highlights on the left side of my head are more pronounced than the ones on the right. The ombre was only put on the middle layer of my hair, so the top portion covers it up.The caramel color starts about 2 inches from my head, so basically the top and bottom layers of my hair are dark brown and the middle layer is caramel. I really wish you could post pictures on here so that you could see that the picture I showed him, and what I got, are NOTHING alike. I paid 120.00 for jacked up hair. I am so so disapointed. Update - I had called the salon right after I got home, they had already closed. I think I was one of the last customers for the day. I called Friday and the owner was not availible and wouldn't be until Saturday. I called Saturday and finally got the owner. I was FLOORED by how rude and ugly she was to me. I was hardly able to speak. She said I left happy (which I didn't... I left trying to be optpmistic) and waited two days to call and ask for a refund. She offered to have it fixed, but I am scared to go back. She said she would not give me a blind refund, even though she was there when it was done, and took pics of it. I agreed to come in, and then suddenly it turned to having the cops called if I showed up. Please understand that my voice was never raised. There was nothing heated about the conversation on my end. I just wanted my money back so I could have my hair fixed. I saw all of the great reveiws on yelp and thought this would be an awesome experience. It has instead been a nightmare. And obviously I am not getting my money back. lol read more

Had an updo and a pretty fun experience - so I thought this may be the perfect place to have my hair touch ups done..boy was i wrong. I have never left a salon in tears. $120 later I walked out - without even a trim. I was very straight forward and asked costs on EVERYTHING that had been discussed. I wanted my platinum blonde hair touched up - I showed pictures of how my hair had looked right after my typical hairdresser is finished (she is out of state)..I left Salon di Amici feeling uglier then when I walked in, my hair was a frizzy mess, no trim, added costs to our original cost that was discussed and no mention of adding costs to what he was doing. My roots are still sticking out, my hair is dull, even 2 days later. Not even with the Chem shot! I spent over 4 hours to walk out with no difference. Not a soul can notice my hair was done let alone touched up. Explaining a past experience with another salon and the agreement the same would never happen - I put my trust into this salon, this stylist. I noticed other stylists offering a beverage to their clients upon arrival. On BOTH occasions I had never been offered one I felt singled out after noticing every other client had been offered, if not by their stylist, then by Barbara. I asked how much to do my eyebrows, the cost was more then the "with a service" fee advertised on their website. I felt so betrayed. I've had my friends who are stylists themselves point out many flaws. The stylist was such a fun and entertaining guy - I had never had so much fun in a salon - until the end..that was all shattered. My friend also had to come in the same day to have her hair fixed (she had it done 3 days prior)..she also just has her roots touched up..we both have not asked for a change in our hair, just a touch up..and that still cannot be managed properly. Hopefully better training for the prices they want to charge will take place soon.. I do not believe my expectations were out of line whatsoever..touching up my blonde and roots. read more

Salon Di Amici is amazing. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming and they definitely know what they're doing when it comes to hair. Jordan took my hair from a brassy blonde bleached color to an amazing shade of platinum ice blonde. He took every precaution he could to keep my hair from frying from the bleach and it feels softer than before i went in, and no breakage (which is amazing for how long my hair is) i couldn't have asked for more. it was far better than what i had expected to get. I will definitely be going back every time i need color or a cut and would recommend it to all my friends and family. read more

The first time I went to Salon DiAmici my hair looked great. The second time, not at all. My hair is cut super choppy and looks terrible. I can't even straighten it because it makes the poor cut look even more noticeable. Not only is it choppy, but my layers are crooked too. It was colored a little too bright blonde than what I asked for so I was charged double to tone it out to something a little more neutral. After four hours, I left with wet hair in a bun because nobody would style it out for me. Keep in mind that I paid $200+ for a cut, balayage, and toner and the other stylists were just standing around doing nothing and didn't offer to help. After leaving, I became even more upset and called to complain to the owner who didn't seem to care that a customer was so dissatisfied with their "service". In the end, I went in for blonde balayage and now have plain brown hair with color you can only see under certain lighting. Also I just cannot get over how poorly cut my hair is. Is this how they treat all their customers or just the ones who are young? Save your money because you can find better stylists elsewhere and by people who care about their customer's satisfaction. I never leave bad reviews, but this was by far the WORST salon experience I have EVER had. read more

Thanks Barbara! I couldn't be happier. It had been over four years since I'd been to a salon, but finally got brave. Having been through some medical situations and medications that really hurt my hair growth and health, I felt like I'd never be happy with my hair again. Then after reading reviews for Salon di Amici and Barbara in particular I decided that I was ready to get my hair back. Barbara listened to my concerns, studied my fragile damaged hair, and did her magic. I love the cut, color, and wearing my hair down after all these years. Thought I should write because over a year ago I had an appt. for all over color, when done it came out extremely RED not the strawberry blond color I had decided upon. After two weeks of trying to live with it, I went back in to have the color fixed, which Whitlee attempted to do and I had hair loss due to the over processing, not just a little, and some actually fell out at the salon. She tried to tell me it was normal, I tried to gently complain to her and the male owner/manager (I guess) presence and new I was getting no where. It has taken a year to bring my hair back to its normal health, and me driving back to Coppell to my old salon to fix the problem. I understand mistakes can happen but what I don't understand is that not one person attempted to take responsibility, nor offer even an apology. Unprofessional and arrogant. Word of mouth can be detrimental to any business, and I am consistently making sure to make my voice heard. read more
