At the request of a Yelper, I became a Yelper. There's nothing wrong with the salon. Tina is professional and very, very eager to please. This is obviously her baby on the line. The Chinese money trees and the few knick knacks here and there in the store are distinctly Asian as well. However, Tina should know that her yellow sign is really a neighborhood eyesore. When a store tilts the entire Piedmont Avenue into a more ghetto style, I have to stand up and fight for what's right. Just like when I see injustice or ugliness, I have to stop at the yellow vomit on Piedmont Avenue and say, "Enough!" Otherwise, Tina has long experience and her specialty somehow is coloring. I guess she picked this up from Panache salon on College Ave? I am a huge, huge supporter in beautification projects. I'm currently part of the Lake Merritt beautification team - which includes Snow Park - so I know that poor signage can deter potential business. I was just walking around on Sunday, and I saw Salon Fabuleux; I walked in. I asked if walk-ins were available. And they said come back in 45 minutes. During my wait, I went to Holly's Chinese Cuisine, and I really enjoyed my lunch. I went back to the salon, and Tina cut my hair. I have long, thick, curly hair and I asked Tina to cut off two inches and to layer and create side swept bangs. Tina did exactly what I wanted. She listened to me and understood quickly what I was saying. I was really happy with the results and I also bought some more Pureology glossing mist-my favorite styling product! She also gave me a bonus-no charge for flat ironing. My haircut was only $55! And it took her one hour! Such a reasonable price! She put a lot of effort in that hour. The salon looks really fresh and clean. I also loved the colors of the wall. I will be back in 2 months, to get another trim. I would fully recommend Tina to anyone who has a hair emergency or just for a hair cut. read more

This place is AWESOME! Tina is a great hair stylist and I was amazed with my hair cut. Nobody ever gets my hair cut the way I specifically ask for. Nobody until Tina. First she asks what style I wanted. She quickly does a little sample by pinning my hair to how it would look. Then if it's fine, she moved me to the most comfortable seats to have my hair washed. By the way, the hair wash was also amazing! It was the best head massage ever. After that she towel drys your hair and gets to snipping. I can't believe how awesome my hair cut was! The bright sign was the first thing that caught my attention. I was actually on my way to find a restaurant to dine in. While driving down Piedmont, I seen this bright sign and I told my cousin we HAVE to stop by this place since we're here anyways. After finishing lunch, I entered this salon and decided to get a hair cut and highlights. Oh my, it is amazing!! Her work is amazing. I love this place!! I'll always come here from now on! read more

Tina is back! Salon was closed for few weeks undergoing renovations, but she is back in same shop on Piedmont Ave. with same phone number. Tina has been doing my hair for many years and she's the best! I bring in photos and she gives me cuts and perms that replicate photo, but to suit my hair texture and features. I value her opinion when she tells me what length would look good on me. My perms are not too curly as she makes sure she uses correct size rollers for body. She's flexible in scheduling appointments and accommodating young and old. She is very friendly and always asks about my family and how everyone is doing. She even took time out of her busy Saturday to attend my father's funeral at Chapel of the Chimes! What other hair stylist would do that? read more

It's been a month since my last cut and highlights. I love the highlights because that meant I didn't have to re-do my blonde streaks. My top layers grew out a bit but Tina had cut my hair to my precise request! Previous places I had cut my hair had cut my hair wrong, but Tina matched every request I have placed. Her hair cuts are always perfect, especially when I just want to pop in and get a hair cut. Of course, I needed to get my hair washed because her head massages are great and relaxing! You have to try it out for yourself. I love how my hair cut shows the peek-a-boo highlights and the top layer isn't too short or too long. I'm definitely coming back! Always! If you're looking for a great hair cut, you can't possibly miss Tina's 'Salon Fabuleux'. The yellow sign, you can't miss. Piedmont Ave. is so packed with stores, you can't tell what is what. But the yellow sign is really an attraction. It stands and pops out, it's just a convience. Tina gives the best head massages while washing your hair. I fell asleep and didn't want to get up. The shampoo chairs are the best! They are so comfortable, unlike others. Oooh! I just love the smell of the shampoo and conditoner. I was back in town to visit family and friends. And I was very busy with work, since I was an vacation, I needed a haircut for the new year. So I was walking around the neighborhood around Piedmont Ave., and then I saw that Salon Fabuleux is a grand opening salon. So I went in and talked to Tina. The interior color was really nice and calming. Tina was very friendly and nice, then she gave me a new hair cut for my new year's look. I soo love it. This was my second haircut from Tina, and I must say she's done a very good job. I have wavy hair and she helped me thin it out with layers, so now my hair has volume without looking frizzy and unstyled. I agree, I loooved the massage. My family lives in Oakland so I'll be a frequent visitor. I don't know... the sign didn't really bother me. I guess it helped me find my way. I think the service was more important to me than the exterior. Like they say, you can't judge a book by its cover. Definitely can't with this salon. read more

I have been following Tina for all my years, since we met in Berkeley. I am so proud of her for opening her own hair salon which include skin care, waxing, and foot massages and much more. I love the colors of the salon, it may be small but it's very comfortable and cozy. Everything looks modern and classic. She also has stations available for stylists if anyone is interested. Tina at Salon Fabuleux is fabulous! I'm new to the area and desperately needed someone to fix a bad haircut that I'd gotten elsewhere. Tina did not disappoint. She gave me a cut that looks great, works with my hair type and is easy to style. I came back the next week for some highlights. I have curly hair, and I went to a salon in Berkeley; the hairstylist cut my hair with a razor which made my hair really frizzy. Then I went to Tina, who was recommended by one of my best friends, who have been following her everywhere from salon to salon; she gave me a totally different experience than when I was in Berkeley. Really loved my new hair color, which was previously a dull brown; now a vibrant red. The layout and the design is very appealing, not like all the other banal salons on Piedmont Ave. Tina introduced me to Pureology products- which I now discovered is the best brand for my kind of hair, it doesn't damage my hair and protects the durability of my hair color. I took my daughter there and she simply adored her new haircut. While my daughter was getting her haircut, she didn't complain about it, like previous salons we've been to.
