Used to love this spot and it's fallen off. Last appt my toe was cut and manicurist refused to do French tip in regular polish. I understand it saves time to do in gel, but my nails can't handle that. I was still charged for full price of manicure even though cuticles were left unfinished, no polish etc. Wanted to give them a second shot - called in advance to make appt for 2 at 5:30 pm. Came in for a regular pedicure. The nail tech was a friendly, older woman , hair dyed blonde. She asked how I was doing and I said I was a little stressed because I was running around before graduation. She told me to relax and I said I'd try lol She asked what color I wanted and I told her I wasn't sure but said she could pick it out. I'm always open to their suggestions. She chuckled. She looked at the color cards that I had been given and told me that the cashier had given me the wrong ones and that most of those colors were almost discontinued. She came back with the updated color swatch or whatever it's called. I thought that was nice of her. Then she asked what kind of pedicure I wanted and I said just regular. She then asked if I wanted gel and I said no thank you. She said "But it lasts long and drys quickly" Again I said no thank you. I'm not really a nail person so I wasn't expecting it to last. I just get it for special events and that's it. She asked if I wanted my hands done and I said no thank you. I'm never completely opposed to getting my fingernails done. Sometimes the right person can convince me but this time that did not happen. I was on a time crunch anyways. It was at this point that things took a turn. She was no longer friendly. She asked what color and thinking she may remember my original ask for her to help me choose, I showed her the ones I was considering and she did not attempt to help so I gave her 2 nail colors and she snatched the color swatches from me to give to another client. Fair enough, I had held them for a while. She brought back the 2 colors and usually the nail tech offers to try one on one toe and one on the other. She simply said pick one so I went with one I thought would work. She proceeded to paint all of my toes. She looked up at me and I said I didn't like it. She said you sure? And I said no and gave a look like I didn't want it but she looked back down and kept painting so I thought, oh this lady is ready for me to be done. From start to finish it was about 30 min. She quickly hopped over to do another clients nails across from me. She didn't tell me how long to wait for them to dry or ask if I wanted her to spray it with the quick dry spray. She didn't say thank you or have a nice day. She just walked away. True I was a bit indecisive with the nail color but in the end she was annoyed that she couldn't upsell me and I think at that point she turned super rude. read more

The man doing my nails was so rude and every time I asked a question or asked to change my nail length he would mock me and talk about me to his employees. then a black woman walked in the salon and they ignored her presence and there was only me and one other lady in there and plenty of nail techs and she went back out to her car and the man doing my nails mocked her and said "racist" in a patronizing manner. i did not tip because the behavior was completely unprofessional and he was also being difficult about showing me the entire color selection and he only wanted to do one coat on my nails... the decorations was cute though. read more

This is my 2nd try at this place and still just "NO!" I feel the pedicure was rushed and the shop was completely empty so the tech, just rushed job me to sit down and chat. The tip wouldn't have been an issue but the service was below average. It seems like you're being judged by the amount you spend and the quality provided isn't held to any standard by staff. Providing quality will retain more customers than trying to force an up charge ever will.. I used to see Rachel bc she's amazing! She had her baby, which yay, but no one is good as her. Even if I just get a basic SNS manicure she does amazing. She usually does my designs though and she's so perfect. I recently went and it just not the same. They don't pay attention to detail. I mean paying $150 for everything doesn't seem bad. Which my pedicure is usually great. It's just the design and manicures that could use work. Francis pedicure great! Mon manicure and design not so great. I asked for a different shape, but just the design was okay but the clean up and attention to detail was just not great. I went in for a simple dip manicure. The top coat was not going on correctly, so she rebuffed and put a gel top on. The gel top started to chip, so I had to go in a second time. Then, my nails started chipping after only a week, so I had to go in a third time. They did not charge me but it was a complete waste of time-especially since I spent $70 in total with tip. The final result still does not look good-my pointer finger is way darker and a slightly different shape than the rest of the nails. You would think by the third time going in, they would take more care to make them look good! This was sloppy and careless work. I never leave reviews like this, but for $70 and a simple manicure-going in three times and it still not looking good is very disappointing. I have been going here for 2 years and will not be back or recommend. Update: my nail broke within an hour of having it redone a third time (see second picture), so I had to go in a total of 4 times. Very crowded on a Sunday afternoon, so I waited despite having an appointment. The linens and techs' carts and floor are all dirty. My pedi was pretty bad - I had to ask the technician to fix two obvious problems in the polish, and it smudged an hour after the pedi because it was flopped on too thickly. My nails looked fantastic leaving the place, and the technician had impeccable painting skills. But by day 1 of my vacation, I had 5 chipped nails. Day 2 (not even 48 hours later, there were cracks in my manicure (see for yourself in attached picture). And I'm seeing signs of chipping on my $37 pedicure (wearing sandals, no shoes that would rub my toes). I don't usually take the time to review places. Again, the staff was pleasant (reason I gave at least 2 stars) but not sure about their materials/polish. Would not recommend, especially not right before a big event or vacation. read more

Today was my 2nd time at Salon Five and I am slightly disgruntled. The first time was right before my birthday, and the nail tech did an awesome job with my design and shape of my nails. First picture attached. I paid $150 for that. The 2nd time I went, I just had one repair and wanted a refill. I didn't necessarily need the design anymore and just wanted the simplest most economical option. She charged me $80, which in my opinion, is A LOT for a fill in with no design. I asked her how much a new ombré set was and she said $80-90. Albeit, I do love the shape she does, I have lived in buckhead for 15 years, went to all sorts of nail shops and never paid more than $65 for an ombré new set and $55 for a fill in. To add injury to insult, there are specks of powder that were not brushed off which appear in my nails. They are nice in there - I will give them that, but highly highly overpriced.
