We loved him so much that we would wait as long as possible to get our hair cut there when we came in to town. My issue is with the owner who charged me $95 for a "last minute cancellation" because I called the morning of appointment REALLY sick with the flu. I had previously booked my appointment several days earlier. However, Miguel cancelled it because he was sick. My son visited him the next day and then got very sick (maybe from Miguel, maybe from our flight, who knows), then I got sick, tested positive for covid and looked like this picture. I can't imagine I would have even been allowed to come in with a fever and serious flu symptoms; so being over-charged for a simple cut and dry is very frustrating. I really hate to write this review, because I look forward to going to Miguel every time, but we won't be going back, unless the funds are refunded. I called 3 times and was very clear about the situation, and apparently the owner, Karen, would prefer to lose 5 clients, for a great stylist, than refund a sick client.

The stylists are all very friendly and actually listen to your opinion. I'd say I feel more comfortable here speaking up about something than I do at other salons. They don't get insulted, they just really want you to love your hair style. I've had full dye, highlights, hair cuts, blow outs and updo's here and can honestly say I've never been disappointed in the service or the results. As I mentioned though, you pay appropriately for the great experience you get here. I'm not as regular of a customer as I wish I could be simply because I can't always afford it. If you can swing the cash, I highly recommend trying out Revive for any of their services. They also have an extensive line of products from Aveda, Moroccanoil, DevaCurl and more in addition to many gift items such as hair accessories and jewelry. I will also mention they seem to give special accommodations for established clients so I would be sure to have them set you up a customer profile the first time you visit so you can build that up. It will really help you out in the future if you're trying to get a last minute appointment or if you may not be able to afford the full price for a service (i.e., bridal updos, etc.)

The space: The space is conveniently located, but immediately upon entering my husband asked if I was sure I wanted to get my hair cut there (and our kids), but I couldn't imagine just walking straight out as we were the only people there. It is an uninspired place, full of beige, completely empty except the one hair dresser. There are little chotchskies around, a drop ceiling, and large overstuffed leather couches. The music was good but cut out halfway through leaving us mostly in silence. The cut I thought it was ok in the chair and when she dried it. I also wasn't too concerned bc longer hair can hide a lot, it doesn't have to be perfect, just some basic layering skills. However when I got home my husband pointed out that on me and my son there are places where it's just chopped straight and not graded. After a day or two when I washed and restyled it, it just kept looking like a 90's suburban cut the way it would flip inward. The service: She was very nice and affordable, but conversation was tough. Even though I prefer to not talk much in the chair, it felt sort of lonely and uncomfortable. When I came home both my mother and husband (separately), and kind of looked at me and paused and said, "yeah, it's not bad." She may have offered to refund me if I had asked but I didn't want to fool with it on my vacation or possibly have her try to fix it. So I paid another $80 to go down the street and got an amazing cut after. The stylist there combed out my hair and said "what is this?!" I said I didn't know and so he took a picture and showed me the very uneven layering job. The picture isn't great, but you can see. I really hate to leave this review and negatively affect the nice lady that runs this place but hopefully it's helpful in some way.

Not only was she warm, welcoming and professional,,, she did a beautiful job on my hair. I visited on March 5, and saw Karen. I showed her a picture of exactly what I wanted (see below). She argued with me, claiming that my hair "pulls red" (it doesn't-I have well water that has a heavy concentration of iron. I have since installed a filter to avoid this issue moving forward). I asked for platinum, icy blonde. After about 5-10 minutes of "explaining" why it wasn't a good idea (despite the fact that I've had it done 100 times before), she finally relented and said ok. $200+ later, my actual result is posted below. Finally-the cut and style. It was ok. Technically, it was exactly what I asked for, but she took off much more than I had asked her to, and my layers are chunky and choppy, making my hair appear much thinner at the ends than it actually is. If the color had just been a mistake, I would totally understand. But, she argued with me, told me I didn't know what I was doing, and proceeded to do what she thought was best. For the amount of money that I paid, that is totally unacceptable. See the pics. My hair came out DARKER than when I walked in. I'm very, very disappointed.

A women's haircut is $45. You have an allotted 45 minutes but I'm usually out in less than 20 minutes. I saw a few reviews complain about the price when they come in for just a trim, but honestly I see it as a relaxing treat for yourself. You get your hair shampooed/conditioned, cut, and then styled/dried. Enjoy yourself! Michelle is the best and I am so glad I found her salon. Even after my very girst visit, she remembered how I liked my hair styled. If I ever moved out of North Kingstown, I would still make the drive here!
