I've struggled for a while about whether or not to write this review. Because they're very kind and sweet, and that may have been the only Positive part of my experience. I visited on March 5, and saw Karen. I showed her a picture of exactly what I wanted (see below). She argued with me, claiming that my hair "pulls red" (it doesn't-I have well water that has a heavy concentration of iron. I have since installed a filter to avoid this issue moving forward). I asked for platinum, icy blonde. After about 5-10 minutes of "explaining" why it wasn't a good idea (despite the fact that I've had it done 100 times before), she finally relented and said ok. $200+ later, my actual result is posted below. Finally-the cut and style. It was ok. Technically, it was exactly what I asked for, but she took off much more than I had asked her to, and my layers are chunky and choppy, making my hair appear much thinner at the ends than it actually is. If the color had just been a mistake, I would totally understand. But, she argued with me, told me I didn't know what I was doing, and proceeded to do what she thought was best. For the amount of money that I paid, that is totally unacceptable. See the pics. My hair came out DARKER than when I walked in. I'm very, very disappointed. read more

The stylist, Jessica, is the reason for the 5 star rating! She listened to what I wanted, and she delivered. I came in for a color (greys) and cut. From the moment she had me sit in her chair through the color application and hair cut, I was confident she knew what she was doing. I was a new client so you understand my apprehensions. Bloom is a really nice atmosphere and do a great job of taking care of you as the customer. Each of the hair stylists here do a great job, listen to what you want and make good recommendations. Precovid they even provided coffee and sometimes wine if you came in the evening. Now in the covid times they do a very good job of making sure that everything is clean and orderly before the next person comes in. I have to shout out Sheena specifically because she has such a wonderful personality, a great amount of knowledge in what she does and she takes great care with each and every customer to make sure that they are happy and then she gives them the best possible style. I am extremely picky with my hair and I've jumped around between people over the years but I've consistently been with Sheena for at least the last few years and I can't say enough good things. Definitely worth checking out the salon. Also it's right next to the main strip in Barrington so you have coffee, liquor, and great food options all in close proximity for post haircut positivity. so what could be better than that? read more

I just got my second hair cut at Bloom Salon and love the staff and the atmosphere. My girl Sheena always styles me the way I like it. (The main reason to return to a salon or hair dresser). The bonus is loads of natural light, easy parking, attractive and interesting stylists and free cappuccino and treats (if you like that sort of thing while getting your hair cut). Thea, Jennifer & Sheena are all excellent stylists. I get my hair done mostly by Thea and sometimes Jennifer. They both are equally good at what they do. The salon is beautiful and the atmosphere is relaxing and fun. The prices are perfectly reasonable, I would even pay more, that is how good they are. They have an awesome color line and they always listen to exactly what you want to do to your hair. (Some stylists do not listen to what the client wants..not here) They are great at formal occasion style as well, my friends and I came in to get our hair done for a ball we had at our University and all of our hair turned out perfectly. If you are looking for a new salon in Rhode Island, it is worth it to check it out! I promise you won't want to go anywhere else. read more

Thea has taken excellent care of me! My haircut feels wonderful, and she went out of her way to give me a great bang trim and blow dry on a stressful day before a professional head shot. The salon is very accommodating, and I never feel like Thea is rushing to her next client. She makes sure to give you her full attention, and makes you feel the best you can feel. What can I say... Bloom is more than a fantastic place to get your hair done. It's an experience. Owners Jen and Thea are on top of every aspect that makes a salon amazing. From the high end products used (Oribe...yes- Oribe), the calm and relaxed atmosphere, the fun conversation, every new magazine one could think of and a delicious latte to top it off. More importantly, I have never left Bloom with anything but amazing hair. Jen and Thea listen to what you would like to have done, and ensure that when you leave their salon, your hair has never looked better. I could not speak more highly of Jen, Thea or Bloom. I am so happy I found Bloom Salon! I've been going to Sheena at Bloom for about six months now and have been consistently happy with both the salon and cut / color with Sheena. It's a relaxed, fun atmosphere and I've never had a problem getting an appointment. Most recently, I messed up my schedule and had to rush out of my appointment early, so she didn't get a chance to blow dry and finish styling my hair. About 10 days went by and I realized I could really use a touch up. I called and was able to get an appointment the next day. Sheena was so gracious and gave me a fantastic cut. I couldn't be happier! If you're looking for a new salon or stylist, I'd highly recommend Bloom and Sheena. Make sure you get a latte when you're there too- they're great :) read more

I have had a hard time finding a salon near here that gave me a good haircut. I recently have been going to Winchester MA where my daughter got her hair cut--but it had been way too long since my hair was cut and a trip north was not happening. I went to Yelp and found a listing for Bloom. The salon is lovely- bright and open, but even better I met Thea, a stylist with the unique ability to really listen to what I wanted, and then to suggest some improvements to my vision. The chatter was so fun, cooking, babies, beaches--all things I love--all while giving me a great haircut. I got my new style yesterday--loving it so far--but if I have and problems, Thea said "just come back,and we'll make it right". I'm 67 and this might be the best cut and salon visit I've ever had. A good hairdresser is like a fairy godmother - she skillfully uses her scissors like a magic wand to transform sad, limp hair into something gorgeous. Having recently moved to Barrington, RI, I was apprehensive about finding someone new to do my hair. I loved my hairdresser Shana in Boston and even followed her from the South End to a different salon on Newbury, including a steep hike in price for her services, during the three years I lived there. My uncoiffed hair was starting to look outright depressing when I called Bloom and had the good fortune of getting an appointment with Sheena. Sheena had exactly the bippity boppity boo needed to make my hair happy again. In addition to the cut, she suggested brightening up my hair using true blonde (an inexpensive, lightening-fast miracle in a bottle). She also expertly shaped my eyebrows, which had been a bit neglected, and offered some helpful tips about an inexpensive product at CVS to enhance my eyebrows. I walked out of Bloom feeling like a new person for less than $100 - now that is magic! read more

Most importantly, the stylist Jennifer understood my unclear description of what I wanted for my hair and was able to translate it into an absolutely gorgeous haircut.
