I first went a couple months ago with my mom to get our nails done, and now I go in at least every 3 weeks. I've never been the type of girl to go to the salon, let alone on a regular basis, but I love this place. The staff is so so nice. I've had work from a couple different girls - Monikaii, Mya and Pa (I think?) - and they all do such a good job. I loved it so much that I also started getting my hair done there. I've always had super long hair, but recently had the urge to chop it all off. I get super bad anxiety when I cut my hair, but my stylist (I forgot her name :( I know it started with an R) helped me relax (the complimentary mimosa helped even more, haha). She did such a good job, I'm in love with my new hair! I recently saw Christela for a trim, and she was amazing as well. The salon itself is spotless and beautifully designed. It's super open, has comfy waiting area, and is really inviting. It's more than I'd normally spend, but you get what you pay for!! I refer everyone here. I'll for sure keep going back! read more

I have been to many salons and this salon is by the far the best one I have ever been to! The problem I had with other salons was that they didn't listen to what I wanted. Every artists in this salon listens to your every need so that you get the best experience. Their work is full of quality! When I first came to the salon, Christina listened to all of my concerns and hopes for my hair (cut and color). She also gave me good suggestions on what hair colors would work together and what products would be good for my hair. Now, she is the only hair stylist I will go to for any of my hair care needs! Christina is wonderful! I have gotten my make-up done by other make-up artists, but Jo is the best make-up artist there is. She makes you feel and look beautiful! I would also like to recognize nail artist, Monikaii. One word for her, astounding!! Not only does she listen and create amazing nail art, but she is an awesome nail educator who has taught me all the things I need to know about nails! These attributes make her different from all of the other nail artists I have been to. She is creative, experienced, and admirable. As my first real time going to a salon this was a great experience. I arrived early and sat comfortably to wait with nice and helpful staff right there to answer my questions. I booked my session with Crystal for a hair cut and she was absolutely great, everyone here seems super friendly and the atmosphere is really nice. The place is nice and tidy and feels very comfortable and relaxed but professional. As for the haircut itself Crystal did fantastic at giving me the cut I wanted, checking with me every step of the way about exactly how I wanted it given its unusual style and offering plenty of helpful tips and advice for it. Melly is, without a doubt, the most incredible artist I have met in the world of manicures and pedicures. She is not a nail technician, no... that does not even begin to describe the talent Melly has ... but this talent also comes in a friendly, caring, easy to talk with package. Melly is kind and smart with a knack for making you comfortable from the minute you sit with her. I will be honest, I'm a pretty plain jane kind of gal when it comes to my nails... or at least I was before meeting Melly. Since then she has given me the gift of new colors and designs. For my romantic vacation away with my husband, I wanted something fun... Melly designed the greatest set of nails, with palm trees and designs. I felt pretty fabulous. Melly also takes care of my daughter's nails. We have always had a problem with her absentmindedly picking at her nails until they bleed... well, we did until we met Melly. My girl loves Melly so much that they sat down and had a heart to heart chat about working on not destroying her nails and Melly checks every time we are in the salon. She treats my girl with admiration and love which makes our experiences even better. We love to go get "cool toes" and Melly has me excited for my "Minnie/Mickey Mouse" design for October. I can't wait to see what wonderful art she creates. If I had to put it in one sentence I'd tell you that Melly is immensely talented and a very special personality, as well. read more

hands down best cut i've had in at least 10 years. I've gone to multiple stylists in CO and have asked to cut my hair super short... and every cut has led me to disappointment (for the most part) or not what I was picturing but still nice. My stylist today was Nicole. RIGHT off the bat she was super friendly and asked what I wanted. I explained it to her and let her know just how nervous I was. She threw some ideas my way and we started seeing things eye to eye. She played a lot with my hair, and seemed to be studying it (SHE WAS) and was so confident and said "this is going to look awesome" She cut all my locks off and then started to work her magic. In no time at all she had cut my hair to this incredible work of art that left the biggest smile on my face. I will forever continue to go to Nicole for my cuts, and you should too! Jay did a great job with my balayage. I was very scared to mess with my natural hair color so drastically, especially after finally growing out another salon's terrible ombre for 2 years. I let Jay take the reigns and the color turned out wonderfully. I have gotten a lot of comments from coworkers that the color looks great. My hair feels soft and healthy. I plan to return to see Jay! I also had Cristina cut my hair a few times last year. She too did a great job. It seems like the salon really makes sure to employ true professionals. An added bonus was my strawberry mimosa! I was so excited to try this place because it has such good reviews and I desperately needed a haircut. I was very specific about what I was looking for. My layers turned out terrible. I said the shortest layers should start at least a few inches past my shoulders - the stylist cut them at my shoulders. I told her I like the layers to be really blended - there is a two inch gap between two shelves of layers that are not blended at all, with no layers in between the two sections. I also ended up with lots of layers on the left side and zero on the right or in the back. I said I had had haircuts in the past where I didn't like the layers because they were too short and choppy and that is exactly how she cut it. I'm very frustrated. They also took me 15 minutes late. I'm going to call and see if I can at least get someone else to blend the two shelves of layers together but obviously I can't do anything else about the layers except wait for them to grow out. Super disappointed with my haircut and will not be coming back here. read more

I love the end results of a manicure/pedicure, but after a few unpleasant experiences at other salons, I was turned off from professional mani/pedis for several years. However, my great experience at Salon Joa has changed my mind! The salon itself is very sleek, clean and modern-looking with lots of natural light and soothing grey and white decor. I went with a regular pedicure and gel manicure, and Melly did an amazing job. I've gotten gel manicures in the past at other salons that chipped within a few days. After more than a full week, my gel manicure is still going strong. Melly was very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. I have no reservations about recommending this place. I definitely plan to come back and am intrigued about all of the other services they have to offer! read more

Crystal does an amazing job with my hair -- she has made it go from extremely long (mid-back) to a shoulder length cut (donated 11 inches), and has since then been helping me to grow out my hair more and keep the volume to a manageable level with expert thinning. She listens to how I take care of my hair, and makes recommendations for products/styling tips that work quite well. I've gotten some of the best haircuts in my life from her. I was going for a blonde ombre and what I got was an uneven, spotted, platinum blonde, dead end ombre. After hating what I ended up with at another salon I decided to try to fix the problem myself, well this didn't go well. My hair was VERY unhappy and dead. So I made an appointment at Salon Joa and Jay is who worked his magic!! He got my hair back to its original color (dark brown) and back to life! He also made me feel very comfortable. This salon has the right idea! Friendly, fast, efficient, beautiful results! The best thing about this place is that the prices don't come at a surprise. I wanted highlights, the price on the website (at the time) stated $100. By the time I was ready to pay, I was cringing waiting for the excuse of "we had to use so much more product because of your long, thick hair", but it never came! It was a flat $100!!!! This is an absolute first for me. It's nice to be able to trust your salon. The staff is friendly and bubbly. The only downside for me was that I didn't have enough time to get more services done! I only have one regret since moving to this amazing city nearly 10 years ago for grad school. That's not having Hoa Vu as my barber from day one. I came to Denver from Phoenix where I was used to getting tight, clean fades once a week. I hit up at least 4 to 5 different barber shops before settling on a stylist named Antoinette at Great Clips in Glendale/Cherry Creek. She was pretty awesome. My cuts were consistent (unlike other shops), and she was really friendly and accommodating to whatever requests were made. Yet, something was still missing... I had to get cleaned up for a family wedding in Houston about four years ago. Antoinette wasn't available so I researched several spots, before coming across Hoa's profile at Floyd's on Leetsdale. I had hit up Floyd's one other time when my stylist was out of town and came away unimpressed. I decided to give it another try. I requested Hoa since he mentioned fades as his specialty on the website. Not only did he hook me up with a great cut and fresh fade, I was getting compliments left and right at the wedding. Needless to say, I only hit up Great Clips one other time out of "loyalty" for Antoinette. I felt really bad since she had been cutting my hair for nearly 5 years. She did an awesome job, but what was missing was the nice, clean fades I used to get back home. Needless to say, Hoa has been cutting my hair ever since. I've followed him to two other spots before he and Jo opened up their own salon on Colfax just west of Quebec. Sorry for the long, drawn out story but I felt like it was necessary to describe how amazing this guy's skills are and save all of you from jacked up cuts before wising up and hitting up their shop. Their whole staff is amazing!!! From the make-up artistry of Jo, the mad nail skills of Melly, and the ultra-talented stylists of Christina and Crystal. My fiance is now a regular there. They're too modest to advertise it, but they service many of the local celebrities in Denver, several newscasters, radio personalities (see KS 107.5 crew who's always giving out props), models, and many more. Although Hoa is known for the newer, hip, and fresh styles, you see a lot of business professionals, physicians, attorneys, and others coming in for cuts. Now I have been ecstatic with my hair experience for 18 months and counting. I started coming to Salon Joa three months ago because my hair was quite damaged and needed some love. Mel has been the best hairstylist and hair doctor! Mel knows hair like no one I have ever met and really strives to give her clients amazing cuts and color while helping the hair grow and get healthy. I have naturally blonde, curly, thick hair which by itself can be damaged easily and then with my modeling that just adds more damage. Mel has me on a plan, using the right products, getting my hair dusted regulary and not bleaching and already my hair has grown 4-5 inches in 3 months! And don't get me started on her color game, Mel is one of the best in Denver. Mel is one of the sweetest people out there with a passion for hair and I would and have been recommending her to everyone! read more

I went in for a mani/pedi and eyebrow wax today. The eyebrow wax was outstanding! And the price of $15 is just right and this was quick, which I appreciated as a full-time working Mom. She did a wonderful job with my brows I loved this service. The mani/pedi was good but I am rating it as okay because of the price and time. It was $75 for both services and you get paraffin wax and a milk and honey scrub. These are fantastic but at other nail salons I have been to I have received a calf massage and forearm massage with these services and they have usually been quicker. I didn't get a massage with mine today so I wasn't as relaxed I suppose. But, it was still very good. My appointment was 2 hours and 30 minutes today which is longer than I was expecting. My appointment started on time at 1pm so it wasn't due to running late or waiting to start. But, the girl was very detail oriented and did a great job. For the price and the time I think this place is good but I wouldn't say it is the best especially for the prices. The staff was very professional and polite. I did appreciate that everyone kept asking if I could have drink refills when it was empty. I am editing this post after receiving a response from Hoa V. I have to say that her prompt and thorough response was very much appreciated. After reading the details provided it sounds like the experience I had today was atypical. I had a 1pm appointment but I did not leave until 3:30pm after it was all said and done. I paid for my services at 2:45pm (we interrupted my mani to do the brow wax before the polish was applied for the mani.) But, I did not leave until 3:30pm after the polish was applied and my nails dried. If I get another chance (as a full-time working Mom of twins free time is harder to come by) I would be willing to give this place another try. Hoa V. is an owner who cares and wants to do what is right for the clients and I certainly applaud that! I know my feedback was taken to heart and will be used to make improvements. Thanks Hoa. Love Salon Joa. This place takes customer service to a new level. My daughter and I come here regularly for hair, nails and waxing and we are never disappointed! I highly recommend Mel, Roaya and Felice for curlier hair ladies like myself for cut and color. Jo is an amazing makeup artist / waxing specialist as well. Jo does a work of art with eyebrows. I woke up today and realized I really needed a haircut but because the last place I went to kinda messed up my hair, I needed a new stylist. Got on yelp and decided to give Salon Joa a whirl. The online booking is perfect and so so easy! I didn't have a stylist in mind so left it up to the gods in the random booking section. What the hell, it couldn't have been worse than my last haircut. I was paired up with Cristela and am really glad she happened to have a cancellation. She gave me a great haircut for a great price. I would definitely feel comfortable going to hear and saying "just do what you want." Women will totally understand what I'm about to say...you can leave the salon and go out and run errands without wearing a hat after because Cristela didn't give me a good cut but a goofy style! Omgeee! The absolute best customer service I've EVER received when in a salon, from the minute I walked in the door! Every single person I came in contact with was very pleasant and accommodating. I booked a full set (nails) and a hair cut. My mom had a pedicure appointment. When we arrived we both wanted other things done, Melly did everything she could and actually was able to do the manicure mom wanted that wasn't booked AND the pedicure I wanted that I didn't book... Love her! This is the first time in over 20 years of getting my nails done that I had a nail tech actually care about the health of my nails and not getting another client with a full set and the expense of it. She took the time necessary to soak off the acrylic and were currently working on growing my own nails! After my pedicure and gel polish manicure I had an appointment to get my hair done, I have been to two other stylists that attempted the style I wanted, without success. From the second I Sat in the chair I felt like she and I were actually on the same page! When she was done I felt like I heard Angels singing! I will definitely be back again... And if you haven't been here... I suggest you get here fast, What are you waiting for... Oh Yea... And hearing all this you probably think I spent a weeks earnings huh... This place is my new spot!! I tried them out today on a whim since I've been looking for a new barber and somebody who can wax my eyebrows the right way... I am a women who gets men's cuts and I have to say Son is a beast with the clippers! I left looking so good, fade was nice and he cut my hair just the way I wanted. Jo is awesome too, I went to work feeling fabulous. She tamed the face shrubbery I call my eyebrows and made me feel very comfortable. Heard about Salon Joa on KS1075 and decided to give them a try. They were able to get me in on the same day because I was having a hair emergency. Went in and got a cut and partial highlights by a very pretty Asian girl with lots of tattoos ( I can't remember her name) she did a great job and did a different cut on my hair. She texturized it which added a lot of versatility and volume. They offer you alcoholic beverages, sodas, waters, even energy drinks. I was having fun laughing with the ladies there- a good group if people. I was actually having so much fun that I decided to get my nails done too. The owner came out and did my nails. We chit chatted and she got to know me and I also got to know about her background and her husbands and how they came to opening their own salon. Great seeing their dream come true right before their eyes. I had such an awesome experience there. After I paid she gave me a goody bag with samples and a full size bottle if their pomegranate lotion and gave me a hug. Excellent customer service and I looked good when I left and when you look good, you feel good!! read more

Absolute hair colouring nightmare. I've been highlighting my light brown hair with t-section blonde highlights for about 6 years now. I went to Salon Joa in order to fix my regrowth with a block colour to change it up. After showing my hairdresser two pictures of the blonde tone(s) I desired, I was horrified, and distraught when she had turned my hair a rich, chocolate brown colour. I was charged an astounding $175 for the service, but after ringing their manager about my experience he was more than happy to bring me back in the following week to reverse the damage, free of charge. By this time, the rich, chocolate brown had already lightened to an awful brown/ginger shade. Unfortunately, once again, my hair was ruined as she attempted to turn my hair blonde but it turned out a weird beige, ginger colour - completely ruining my self-esteem. I was never once offered a full-refund, treatment products, OR an apology from the hair colourist herself (the manager did apologise however). Because of this, I returned back to my original hair dresser at home who not only had to fix the colour (as by this time, my hair had awful regrowth and was practically yellow), but also had to cut around 35cm off my hair as it was so damaged from the amount of bleaching treatment. I was so disappointed with my experience with Salon Joa after reading great reviews, but I will never go back there again. read more
