I went to Salon Joa on a recommendation from Larry Ulibarri and also from a FB Post...I can truly say that it was an on point recommendation!!! I made an online appointment on their website and went today to see Crystal...she is AMAZE-BALLS!! I had been growing my hair out and had enough. Crystal was super confident and she made me feel like she understood what I wanted for a cut. She also let me know that she wanted to take time on getting my black hair lighter. She did not want my hair to get further damaged. I really appreciated that she was not just interested in cutting and coloring my hair and getting me out the door.. She was truly professional and took her time. I cannot wait to go back and see what she does next. I ABSOLUTLEY recommend Salon Joa. I had a great experience at Joa Salon. I normally get my hair cut elsewhere, but today--the day before heading off to visit my fiancée's family for the holidays--I needed a cut, and my normal shop was closed. I made an appointment with Hoa. I arrived, checked in, was offered a glass of water, and Hoa was ready for me in a timely fashion. Melly is THE ABSOLUTE BEST nail artist I have ever met,,, EVER!!! As soon as you walk into Salon Joa, you will definitely feel the positive vibes. The location is so modern and clean, best in Denver for sure. On several occasions- Melly has squeezed me in due to my busy schedule. All of the staff here are SUPER Friendly and professional. I refer my friends to Salon Joa all the time. I've been 3 times since April 2015 and every visit has been spectacular. The salon is clean and modern. The stylists and employees are professional and extremely friendly. I'm offered a beverage and magazines. You have choices ranging from mimosas to coffee. I work on the night shift so I always opt for an energy drink. Felicia is the wonderful woman who transforms my mop into a gorgeous cut and color. In the spring it was a fantastic ombré with awesome layers. Come summer she helped me go lighter. And just recently she gave me a gorgeous dark brown with a healthy trim. She is a great conversationalist and an even better hair stylist! I leave with a beautiful color, cut, and blow out within two hours without damaging my bank account! HIGHLY recommend this salon!!!!! She really took the time out to see what I wanted and made the necessary recommendations if she thought it wouldn't be a healthy ideal for my hair. After reading positive reviews about this place and especially a specific makeup artist, I called to inquire about setting up a trial run with her for my wedding makeup. The receptionist I spoke to was very nice and told me that she was going to not only schedule my trial but tentatively book my wedding date in the makeup artist's calendar so it was reserved. She also told me the trial run would cost $75. When I arrived at the salon for my trial, I was immediately underwhelmed by the professionalism of the front desk staff (they were all on their phones and socializing with each other, didn't bother to say anything to me when it was 10 minutes past my appointment time and I was still waiting). When the makeup artist was ready for me, she had no idea what I was there for. She also said that she keeps her own schedule and usually only books her own bridal trials. So, my wedding date was NOT reserved, in fact she was already booked for that day. She said it must have been "someone new" I spoke to when I called. She then proceeded to tell me that she charges $100-150 for trial, not $75 which I was quoted. After some protest, she grudgingly agreed to charge me $75 and also said she could still do my wedding date as her other booking was in the morning. But, from that point forward, she was extremely unfriendly and acted annoyed the whole time, particularly when I asked for adjustments to what she was doing with my makeup. Although she certainly knew what she was doing and was clearly a good artist, I was unsatisfied with the results-- she claimed that the makeup she gave me "matched" some Pinterest photos I showed her, but in my opinion it is a makeup artists job to personalize and advise about what will work on me. The worst part was her attitude; she practically pushed us out the door without so much as a thank you. Very negative experience and a waste of my money. read more

Overall great place! Great atmosphere, reasonable prices and talented stylists! After searching for years for a stylist to cut and color my long and thick hair the way I like, I have finally found her! Cristella is amazing and I am extremely picky. I have tried so many swanky salons from downtown Denver, Cherry Creek to Park Meadows and Colfax. All of which where over priced and none could deliver a stylist who could do both cut and color as good as Cristella. The atmosphere is clean and classy without being pretentious. I was a new customer and super excited to get my hair cut before leaving for vacation this weekend where we will be doing Xmas pics. I received a call an hour before my appointment stating Crystal had a hair color that was going over the time and they had to reschedule me for this weekend - which doesn't work since I'll be out of town. I was so upset with their service. They didn't offer to get me in with another stylist or for Crystal to stay late to do my hair or to do the cut while her other clients color set.When I asked about these options I was told it wasn't possible. I'm thinking they just wanted to close and get out early because I've never before been told you can't squeeze me in around hair coloring. Very poor service. My family and friends will not be going here for our hair needs. Super amazing! I scheduled an appointment for highlights. Though I have had highlights before nobody could quite project my vision. I was set up with the wonderful Jay and for the first time I felt like there was a stylist who understood what I wanted with also helping with their opinions as well. Young, old, short, tall - It doesn't matter! These guys do it right!

I wanted to find a good barber near my house rather than commuting to Northglenn so I went in to see a barber at Salon Joa twice. Asked for a shadow skin fade with a fresh line up on my hairline and my beard. Barber didn't know what a shadow fade was so I asked for just a normal skin fade. I wanted him to do a fade from my longer hair into that had an obvious line separation which is what I liked. Instead he gave he a high fade and used a razor on the bottom part of my neck line and around my ears. He used clippers to etch out my line up on my hairline but never followed up with a straight razor. When he went to line up my beard he used a comb as a guiding reference rather than using skills and talent for a fresh line up. All in all i received great service with poor skills and talent. There's a lot of money in this salon by the looks and I'm sure they are great at everything else but they lack barber talent. I'd rather travel to Northglenn to Scissorhand Design Studio!! read more

This was my first time getting my hair colored at Salon Joa and I could not be happier. I have been trying for at least 6 months to have a stylist color my hair from a medium blond to a strawberry blonde. I have even showed past stylist a picture and at the end it didn't turn out anything like what I wanted (or like the picture for that matter). I found Salon Joa through their Instagram page which is filled with amazing shots of hair transformations. When I went to their website I was excited to see an option of having a consult prior to making an appointment. I promptly made a consult appointment with Christina and then made an appointment to have my hair colored by her. Christina obviously put a lot of thought into how to achieve the color I wanted in the weeks leading up to my appointment. At the end of the appointment I was pleased to see that my hair looked exactly like the picture I had showed her! I so so happy with how everything turned out. First of all, I was looking for a place to have my hair chopped off to be donated and have my hair colored. I am the type of person that would only get a haircut or hair coloring once every year or two. Salon Joa is located right off Quebec and Colfax, there is parking in the back, also in the front, however the front parking is off -street on Colfax. As I walked in, the receptionist acknowledged me and offered me something to drink. Pretty fancy, they have all kinds of things to drink. Felicia, did my hair cut, she parted/braided/cut, for the donation I will be sending out. She also did my hair coloring and everything came out looking great. I love my short hair and ombre coloring. I told her to work her magic/to do whatever she wanted and most of the time customers get something they do not like, however I liked the end result. I also got my eyebrows waxed. Then, I got a gel manicure done by Miyah and they had the tiffany & co. blue that is so hard to find!!! I love my nails! I had only made my hair appointment and they were nice enough, they weren't extremely busy, to accommodate me and get my eyebrows waxed along with getting a manicure. Plus, I kept getting asked if I wanted anything else to drink or if I needed anything to make my visit more enjoyable. Everyone was so pleasant and encouraging since I was chopping off my long hair. This place made me feel so comfortable that I did not even cry after my hair got chopped off. I loved this place, not only were the employees great, but the owners were there on site all day and were very nice too. The owner's son was so adorable in his Halloween costume! I will definitely be coming back for more trims, coloring, waxing, and manicures/pedicures!!!!!!! Beautiful, well organized salon. Thank you all! read more
