I just finished my long journey this weekend with my hair. It was definitely a roller coaster! The salon reached out to me after hearing of my concerns. Kristina- a receptionist- asked if I may come back in to see the owner to correct the issue. I did try to correct the coloring with lemons on my own (it worked LOL) but I said sure. Summer, the owner, was the best! She definitely walked me through on lessons on coloring and knew what to do to fix my hair. I showed her a photo of what I really wanted and she suggested I come back in the next day (told you, long weekend) to see a specialist in balayage. After Summer pointed out several issues I had with my hair, I said why not at this point. Can't get worse...can it? Monday evening, I spent hours (5 hours, yes) with Erica. Her personality is great! It must be up north thing. We talked and joked for hours so the time went by very quickly. She analyzed my hair and the photo I showed her and knew what to do to correct what I already had. The results of my hair is probably the best I have ever seen it. Considering my first thoughts, this is completely 180. Thank you Summer, Erica, and Kristina for being more than just professional. They went above and beyond to make me fall in love with my hair. They didn't make me feel weird at all and it actually felt like I have been coming to this salon for longer than just 3 straight days LOL. Amazing salon! Super chic and unique decor, fantastic staff, great stylists. I actually found them on Yelp when my usual haircut person decided that he wanted to cancel my pre-scheduled appt due to not wanting to drive in the rain... Welp his loss of a customer! I called Salon Mixx thankfully got fitted into the schedule an appt an hour later. Upon arriving, a lovely host greeted me and asked if I wanted coffee or tea. The inside was very well decorated with neat vintage things. The salon is kept clean and neat. There's only around 6 stations I believe and one hair wash station in the back. Jackie was my stylist. She was very cool and blunt, loved it. She's a little rough with her hands so if you're expecting some soft spa treatment, maybe she's not your girl. But if you want efficient and skill, ask for Jackie. I was taking around 5 inches and told her I had a fear of stylists taking too much and it becoming too short. She understood and cut it just right. She did a great job!! My hair looks more voluminous even with just air drying. It's light and bouncy. read more

Loved this place! I called about an hour ahead and luckily there was an opening for me and my friend to get our hair cut and blow dryed. My stylist was Yanet. She was really sweet and was very nice when we met. She asked me if I had any photos of styles I wanted to do. I really wanted to try something new and go really short. She openes up her pintrest account with all the photos she bookmarked and had me choose. I choose a short do that from one of Heidi Klum's looks. She said "ok, I could do that", I was excited! She then proceeded to cut my hair for a good 45 minutes, perfecting it, and straightening, and making sure both sides with even because I like to part my hair down the middle. When she was finished, my hair looked exactly like Heidi Klum's! I was so happy! She thinned it out on both sides, it fell nicely on my shoulders, and was super soft and fine to the touch. For reference I usually get a cut, full highlight, and toner, but have had interesting thing over the years like an undercut that came out super cool. I felt as if my yellow balayage wasn't complimenting me. I decided to do something very different and get gray-blue toned hair. I went 3 weeks after my balayage for a consultation. Once I parked my car I decided "we'll why not just talk to Karla again". I thought Karla might be better with color since she's one of the ones in the salon who currently has the hair color I was going for. I walked in asked for Karla; I spoke to her briefly about what I wanted. I showed her pictures of exactly what I wanted. THE GENERAL IDEA WAS GRAY BLUE HAIR. After I showed her the pictures she was like "oh yes, we can do it, we can do a full highlight, add blue and gray toner and use your natural root to get the shadow root effect". She never gave me any indication that it couldn't be done. I make the appointment for a week later. I go in for my appointment, Karla then decided to switch the entire plan. She decided "I don't want to have to bleach your hair more if I don't have to, I want to do test strands to see how it comes out" I again showed her the pictures to make sure she knew what she was doing she said "yeah yeah I can do it, I just want to avoid bleaching so I'm going to do test strands on your yellow balayage pieces to see how it comes out, just trust me". Okay fine. I trusted her. She did a test strand and it came out to a deep royal blue. I literally told her "it's a pretty color but DO NOT PUT THAT ON MY ENTIRE HEAD". I again showed her a picture "this is what I want, it's gray with light blue". She argued back "the blue washes away and it'll turn into the gray blue you want, we don't have time, just trust me!" I again told her "ok fine, but I want gray hair with light blue pieces, so don't put the entire royal blue on my head". She agreed. After a couple of test strands the receptionist whispers in her ear reminding her of her 1 pm appointment. She asked her other coworkers for help but they couldn't because her with the other client because she specifically requested her... so she mixed the dark blue toner or dye and gives it to one of her coworkers Shelly to apply to my entire head. End result: my hair was dark blue/ leaning more toward a sea foam green. I was so upset, I cried on my way back home. I called a week later to tell them I wasn't happy with my hair. I was told they can try to correct what was already done. I went back a week after and this time they gave me Amanda. Amanda was very sweet and honest which is what I wanted. She told me she can try her best to make my preexisting blue more of a steel blue but I will not be able to achieve my hair goals without going platinum first (which I knew before going to Karla but I never got). I did leave with steel blue hair but my hair was dryer than a mf. Amanda couldn't achieve what I wanted in this visit only because of all the shit that was done to my hair before. Overall experience: I was lied to. I paid $200 to never get what I asked for. I feel robbed and I absolutely hate this place. I never got blue hair, if anything now I have green hair because Karla never fixed the yellow tones before adding the blue. It's just an awful experience and I pray you guys take all reviews into consideration before coming here. Protect your money. Karla wrote a review posing as a client which make the business look like they have 5 stars and I'm sure it's not the first time an employee wrote a review. read more

I came because of the good reviews and was excited to try them out. I saw their specialist for blonde hair because I needed my roots done. Just my roots. I said I wanted it to be platinum but not silver or grayish, but more of a light blonde. I was told they got paid by the hour so the price would come out to however much time that was spent on my hair. I thought it a bit odd but I stayed with them because of the reviews. The hair stylist ended up putting foils in my hair and leaving the bleach dye in my hair for over 3 hours... I am not a hair stylist but I've never in my life had someone leave my hair in foils that long. I also said no to toner and was toned twice anyways and subsequently charged for it. When my hair was blow dried out I didn't really see what I liked at all. I left and went home figuring I would just never go here again and that it was a very expensive mistake. Weeks go by and I notice that my super long hair has been breaking in so many places at such high levels on my head I now have thinning hair and it will take years to grow back from the various random lengths that it broke from. Hair is still falling out today, months later. I always take very good care of my hair so I know it wasn't due to anything I had done but it was because of the fact that my hair had been in foils for way too long. She basically fried my hair, just to make more money for their paid by the hour system. Now it will take years for my hair to even out and get back to where it used to be, which was thick and so long it hit my butt. I'm pissed and frankly wish there was something that can be done now but extensions would just pull on my hair more and the breakage is too high in certain places to just cut it off. They should get their license taken away and the owner should change their policies about getting paid per hour because it just makes it a broken system where if you only have one client in the day that you would of course want to stretch it out as long as possible in order to make more money. Maybe I just had a terrible hair stylist/colorist and it's not the salon's fault but they shouldn't ever be working in the salon industry ever again. read more

I looooved this place! I used to only get my hair cut in Mexico bc every experience I've had here at other salons has been awful. As soon as I walked in, Jessica made me feel so comfortable & relaxed. I knew I was in good hands. She listened to all my concerns & was honestly so sweet. I told her all I wanted was to get rid of all my split ends while keeping the length since I've been trying to grow my hair out for a while. I wanted a few layers for volume & she did EXACTLY what I asked. My hair feels a thousand times more healthy & it still looks really long. She did an amazing job and she even kept me past their closing hours to ensure she did a perfect job. Other salons have always left me feeling like I was just in & out for money. I drove more than 40 minutes to visit this salon because I wanted to make sure my layers and bangs would not be messed up. Somehow, they did just that. Upon making my appointment, I was asked whether I wanted my hair styled for another $30 - I said no.The salon appears to give off an alternative and trendy vibe, however, I was assigned to a very dated stylist. I asked for short, blunt bangs, and gave examples and even pointed to another stylist's haircut. The stylist opted to cut my bangs dry, and cut them very haphazardly and unevenly. I pointed this out, and she only made them worse. She claimed repeatedly that my bangs would never look the way I wanted because I had cowlicks. I have literally had bangs all my life and never been told this was an issue. She washed my hair, then told me to relax and my bangs would settle. Still my bangs were completely uneven, and I was very rudely shut down when I pointed it out again. Eventually, I felt so uncomfortable that I just stopped talking. As I asked my friend if my hair looked even, the stylist told me to relax and she would put waves (?) in my hair and make it look better. She completely styled my hair, which I never asked for, and then had to pay for. I left the salon -$90 for uneven bangs and a terrible experience. I tried this salon because it had great yelp reviews. While I usually trust yelp - this was one I should not have followed the reviews for. I asked for my hair to be about mid length and showed the stylist where I wanted it to fall on my body. She was clearly too busy talking to the other stylists to listen to what I want and instead chopped off 6 inches of my hair, giving me a haircut I did not want and frankly isn't flattering on me. Even worse, the haircut was uneven. Everyone was nice enough but the women were too busy ordering lunch to actually take care of the customers. Will not be going back and do not recommend this place. UPDATE: The owner did reach out to me and offered a to fix my hair for free. When I declined and said I would rather go elsewhere I got yelled at instead and told my review was wrong. read more

I'd leave zero stars if I could. I had a consultation and was told the process of getting my faded blue to blonde would take 2 sessions and cost $200. A test strand was even done before I was quoted. At my actual appointment I was told it will take 3 sessions, over the span of 3 months, and that I have to go purple or pink before getting to blonde (after I'd been in the chair for hours). At the end of my appointment, I was told it'd be $370 (keep in mind I also paid a $50 deposit beforehand). When I said what I was quoted at my consultation, they lowered it to $340. So, that's a LOT more money than I was quoted AND I'm leaving the salon with purple hair when I asked for blonde! When I reached out to the stylist via text, she didn't explain why I was misled at the consultation (about the color, amount of sessions it'd take, and the price). She actually ended up completely ignoring me when I further voiced my concerns and blocked me on Instagram (even though I hadn't reached out to her on there). I can't believe how beyond effed up this experience has been and I'm only writing this to save someone from going through what I've gone through because of this salon. read more

Had my hair done for my wedding there. My stylist was personable and funny. She did an amazing job on my updo. She incorporated a barrette I brought with me, and she also suggested how I should place my veil once it was time to get dressed. I will likely return for a haircut and would definitely recommend to others. Update: June 20 I got my hair cut by I believe Jessica. She did a WONDERFUL job with my hair. It's curly. The curls don't follow rules, but Jessica wrangled them into an adorable haircut. I'm so incredibly grateful to have found someone close by that I can regularly trust with my hair.
