Saw Jian 6 months ago for an awesome haircut, cut exactly like I wanted and she followed the picture I showed her. Took her time, insisted she wash my hair, cut and then style. Took about 1 hour (I have long, thick hair). Fast-forward to this week and I decided to get the same exact cut and showed her the same exact picture. Didn't wash my hair and took 20 minutes tops to cut. I think the problem was she was booked solid today and when someone walked in right after I did, they were a drop-in asking for hair color. I found them on yelp and made an appointment for the same day. I went with Jian since she was the one with the most reviews and she did not disappoint! Initially all I wanted was a trim of about an inch. However when I walked in and we started chatting, she suggested some bangs to complement my face shape and some layering. I could not be happier with the results! For being so timid with my hair I feel like I have finally found someone I can trust to do a great job! Tried this place out based on the Yelp recommendations. Got an appointment for the same day. LOVED the haircut that Jian gave me! She spent a very long time getting it just right, and I felt very cared for. And the price was great -- I can't remember exactly but it was between $20 and $25. Came here because I saw it had excellent reviews. I asked if they took walk-ins and they said yes! I took off my hat and she asked what I wanted and suggested I get a shampoo. It was $17 and I said no I don't think that's necessary. The woman looked at her the employee next to her and started speaking another language and then says to me, "I think it would be good, your hair is very oily." At the point I said I don't think I'll be getting a haircut and walked out. She just stared at me flabbergasted as if I had done something wrong!! Horrible customer service read more

She's very friendly has a very good eye for how your hair should look but doesn't pressure you into doing anything you wouldn't want done to your hair just friendly recommendations . I have always gone to Regis or other places where they do a decent job and have ok customer service. I decided to shop around for Japanese straightening and called Salon Muse and was very happy to know that the price was great!!! about 1/2 of what Mall salons charge. Salon Muse is in the middle of the San Bruno shopping district on San Mateo Avenue. I wanted to find a hair salon close to where I live, so after some research, I found them. I have been going a couple of months, and so far, they have done a great job! Amy has been my stylist, and she is experienced and professional. I think they prefer you call for an appointment, but the last time I had a cut, I called with no appointment- on a Saturday, no less- and she was able to work me in, which I appreciate. I get a good cut for a fairly inexpensive price, so I'm happy with them. read more

i don't write that many yelp reviews, but this time, i need to write this WARNING...for the sake of community service. knowing it has 4.5 stars on yelp, i took my grandmother to this place for haircuts. what a MISTAKE. we would NEVER Go Back! -the haircuts were mediocre at best; not impressed at all. remember someone in your family gave you a crappy haircut at one time? you couldn't complain because it was a family member, and it was free... that's how i felt (stuck and frustrated) after i got a mediocre haircut at Salon Muse, except i paid for it this time. -both Amy and Gian have bad manners; they ask customers too many personal questions. the way they asked some of those questions were borderline insulting and offensive. they have attitudes. i didn't expect them to always smile; instead, i felt unwelcome throughout the entire time. -after the haircut, they verbally demanded a bigger tip. though we felt the haircuts were mediocre, we still gave them a 10% tip. No! they demanded a bigger tip shamelessly in our face. i didn't want to cause a scene (given my grandmother was there and all), so i dropped a few bucks more for tips knowing we will never go back. read more

I wanted a basic trim with long layers (boring, yet easy, I know.) I said I wanted the shortest layer to be about 6in off, the longest being about 3in. She very quickly combed thru my hair, pulled up a piece from the back and started chopping! All I could think was Edward Scissorhands!! Haha (not funny tho...) She cut one very choppy layer in the back. Overall, my hair is one blunt length all the way across the back and has one small choppy 'layer' on top. It's awful. I measured when I got home and she cut 8 inches off!! I am so angry. Will never go here again. Only positive, I made a same day appointment and was able to get right in. I arrived early and Amy took me sooner. At the end, I realized this was probably because she was in a hurry! So rushed to get thru and botched my hair! read more

So I'm gonna say I appreciate the work that they do however, I'm not impressed. The first time I went I had a really great experience, I got my hair washed, cut and styled for an amazing grand total of $18. So I decided to come back this time I got my hair washed, and trimmed, NO STYLING, and I had so much trouble telling her how I wanted my hair. Unfortunately for me I paid in advance because I was so sure that I would love it! I paid $60 dollars for a haircut that wasn't even worth the original $18 dollars. My coworker also had a horrible experience with their waxing, she was burnt pretty badly and her skin peeled and it scabbed. Maybe it was because I went to Amy this time (also did the waxing) and not Jian like the first time. If you go please see Jian. And never go here on the weekend, I went on a Saturday morning and was left unattended several times my 20 minute trim turned into an 1 hr of mostly waiting for her to come back to me. My work schedule make weekdays (and most Saturdays) pretty hard to schedule -- so I was really thrilled when I was able to walk in (pretty much) on Sunday afternoon and get a really quick and clean hair cut. I called in around 1:40 p.m., they said they could see me at 2 p.m., got there and waited three minutes for Amy. She's got really confident hands -- maybe heavy for a super sensitive scalp during the wash/shampoo, but fine (actually, reassuring) for me. She did the fastest cut I've ever had that didn't require cleaning up at home. She did a cut with it wet, blew it out, cleaned it up. She listened to what I wanted and did it professionally and efficiently. I will be going back next time. (For reference: I went in with hair down to mid-back, asked for 3-4 inches off, face-framing chin-level layers, rounds layers all around, U-shape in the back, and cut evenly so I can split my part on either side of center.) read more

I tried this place a few months ago after getting a bad haircut elsewhere. Jian did a great job with my wavy hair. Layered it the way I like it. Paid $25 for wash, cut and styling it.
