Tried to make an appointment. Since they're only open a few days a week I left a message on their answering machine (which they encourage in the message) to give me a call to set an appointment. No call back. So a week later I called again, this time during business hours. Got the voice mail and left another message. No call back. So I was in the area on a day they claim they're open and guess what. They were closed. Smack in the middle of the business hours they claim to keep. Found out through the grapevine that Judi, my (terrific) cutter, moved out of state. The least they could do is call and let me know. They didn't. I've found someone else and revised my rating from 5 stars to one. And by the way, every time I was there (probably 10 times total), all I ever saw were geriatric ladies. I called Salon on Villa yesterday to schedule an appointment for the next day. Unfortunately it was all booked, but she was happy to squeeze me in yesterday. I arrived there and waited for Debbie to be done with her previous customer and honestly I was a little nervous because of the review on here by Jennifer R about her haircut being uneven. However, everything turned out great! I showed Debbie a picture of the type of haircut I wanted and she did exactly what I asked for! We took off 5 inches of my long hair and added a ton of layering to the front and some layering to the back. It turned out absolutely amazing! I have never loved my hair so much. And it only cost $17. Such a quality deal. The pricing here varies, but is very affordable. A simple cut is $12, but it increases depending on layering and maxes out at $25 for haircuts. Although I love the feeling of getting a hair cut, I hate getting it done because I can't stand the inane banter with the person cutting my hair. They always try so hard to talk and be friendly, and often are, but it makes me feel awkward because I am forced to engage with them or I feel like a jerk. Found this salon on Yelp and it was worth the try. I'm very picky with my haircut's and how much the stylist takes off. I called yesterday and made an appointment with Debbie, she was AWESOME made me feel very welcome and listened to my request about my hair. My hair is very thick and long and asked if she not touch the length but give me more layers and volume on top so when I do curl my hair it will look very full. I've attached a picture of my hair curled today and will be posting another of it straight. THANK SO MUCH DEBBIE! Have recently relocated to the La area and was in need of a hairdresser I could afford and put my faith in that I would not look up in the mirror and be greated by something stomach turning. In The Salon on Villa I found both of those things as well as an environment both welcoming and incredibly amicable. Both hairdressers are absolutely lovely and very interested in the customer's satisfaction. I had Debbie do my hair for which she gave it a trim and the always nerve racking (for both parties) new set of bangs. In both arenas I was greatly pleased (to say the least). The trim was perfect and Debbie took off just the right amount of my hair and the bangs (which were no basic blunt chop) look fabulous. I wanted wispy, edgy, mod looking bangs that gently swooped back into the rest of my hair and despite the caulic I have in the front center of my head, Debbie managed to work around it and get the bangs to look just as I had envisioned them to be ( I also want to add that my hair is heavily fried from bleach and was no easy mane to work with). So, in all, my experience at The Salon on Villa was a tremendously pleasing one in deed and I will most certainly be returning for more.- read more
