I have been coming to see Joanna for years. She has absolutely helped guide me by answering any questions about hair cuts or colors whether I bring in photos for ideas or use a hair term that I'm unsure of haha. A little over 2 years ago I went elsewhere to have my hair dyed into a pink balayage (tried to test a local salon to me) and after over 7 hours my hair was wrecked, and not the right color at all. Joanna saved my hair! Literally offered to give me what I wanted or discussed my options financially too. I decided let's do blonde cause I've never done it. She warned me it was a slow journey to do it in a healthy manner that would maintain the integrity of my hair. I've never been happier with my hair. I get SO many compliments about how it suits me and everyone asks how they can get this color overnight. (You can't, or you shouldn't haha) I attached some photos to show the cut and color we have achieved and my hair is very healthy for being so processed. I happened to be in the area and in serious need of some hair TLC. I called and lucky me, Salon Seraphim had an appointment that worked with my day. I was booked with Joanna. Plenty of parking. Shopping center location. Joanna was easy to talk to and very knowledgeable. I have really curly hair and not everyone knows how to deal with it but she's a true pro. She was detailed, I had pictures and she gave me realistic expectations. I don't think I've been this happy with a cut in a while. My wonderful hairstylist (Alina) moved here end of Aug. last year (Covid times) and introduced me to this hair salon. Unfortunately (for me!) she moved to another state in April; however, before she did, she left me in the good hands of Joanna. Joanna listens to what the client likes, can handle short-med. long hair (European styling) and offers good suggestions on colouring. Front receptionist /manager Courtney and Michelle, the owner, are very sweet, too, and ensure every client enjoys good customer service. Salon Seraphim are open Sat. and Sun. and have a late-eve weekday, too, for those who can't do daytime week days (if not worried about which particular stylist cuts your hair then - but all stylist I've seen look perfectly competent - you won't go wrong). All in all, been there 6x within the year and very happy on all occasions. Thanks for becoming my new hair salon, Seraphim! PS: Yelp asks about mask measures, etc. The Salon follows all the NJ guidelines. They recently relaxed the requirement for masks for fully vaccinated customers. Also now removed the seat/area distancing and plexiglass barriers at reception, tho' you will still be asked to have your temp. measured on arrival, which is perfectly reasonable. read more

I am SO glad I came here! What a gorgeous, friendly salon. Everyone was so professional, from the reception desk to the shampoo girl. I love the decor, they played great music and all the employees were so nice. Melanie, as usual, did a gorgeous job on my highlights and cut. Joanna Joanna Joanna! I came to her for the first time 5 years ago because my mom found her to do my hair for senior prom. She did an incredible and very detailed updo for me. Later on, I came to her for a cut and she killed it, I never thought I would love a dramatic bob but I did. She is fantastic! After moving to NY, I didn't have too much luck getting cuts after that, so recently I found her at this salon because I've been following her on instagram for years, and she cut my hair again into a more squarish bob, and still, love it. Fun to play with and have all messy. She's super cool and the salon in general is very nice, everyone that works there is pleasant. They carry Bumble & Bumble which I purchased on the way out (heat protector spray) which I use on the daily since I'm constantly blowing out my hair. read more

I went after reading all the reviews to dye my hair balayage n came back very disappointed. I saw some work of a hairstylist on instagram so I booked her and strictly told her no brassy looking caramel balayage n that's exactly what I gt from her. I came here about three months ago for a haircut. I have long thick black hair and needed to get it restyled. The salon had great reviews and I am new to the area so it seemed like a good idea. I had asked for a couple inches off in the back with some light layers in the front. My stylist confirmed hearing me and then did her job. She didn't talk much, even when I tried to start a convo so I assumed she was a worker bee type. Before I knew it, they had washed, cut, and "dried" my hair and I was out in just 30 minutes. I was surprised it went so quickly until I got home. Basically she had given me a trim and nothing else. My hair was still wet and not even properly combed as I had to find now detangle the knots in my hair. It was an awful haircut and for $60 a complete waste of time. I eventually went to visit my mom and got my hair fixed from her salon. I will not be coming back. I have two stars since the salon was clean, they offered me tea, and I guess it was quick. read more

I was so upset with how my hair turned out, I asked for "Hollywood waves" she ( I didn't even get her name ) gave me big curls that she said would eventually loosen up and give me the waves I wanted. I have never been more disappointed with the salon than I was today. I went in for a cut and told the stylist to cut it short (below my chin - middle of my neck). I usually cut it to my shoulders and thought an extra inch wouldn't hurt. I didn't realize while I was sitting down how short she actually cut it. I was not expecting it to be this short. It's also very uneven. I told her I usually part it in the middle and the side and when I got home and tried out different hairstyles and parted it from the middle the left side is much shorter than the right. I also told her I wanted a blunt bob and this is more shaggy cut than a bob. She just kept cutting the edges and I didn't ask for that. I don't know what happened this time but I literally had to order extensions because of how ugly I feel. It does not look good at all and I don't believe I will ever be coming back. I always get my hair cut with Joanna, and she's always wonderful. I have very thick hair, and often times stylists will give me a great cut the first time, and really slack in giving me a thorough haircut for times to come. Joanna has never given me a bad haircut. She always pays attention to the detail and she always gives advice for what she thinks will be a good choice for your look. I recently got a keratin treatment here, it's not the Brazilian Blowout, but I honestly can't remember what it's called. Julia was having a deal with it for the Spring, and she was absolutely wonderful. She explained everything she was doing every step of the way. She explained to me that he treatment would not permanently straighten my hair, just relax the curl. She told me not to use certain shampoos. She explained the less frequent I wash my hair, the longer it will last. She even warned me that when she was applying the chemicals close to my face, it may burn my eyes a little bit and to close them. I didn't feel lost of confused about the entire process, and she was absolutely wonderful. I would always recommend Salon Seraphim to anyone in the area looking for a great hair cut. It is a high quality salon without the snobbiness you may feel at competitors. read more

My first time here! I have been going to by girl for over 10 years and she was completely booked and going on vacation next week. I needed a cut desperately and looked on Yelp for a salon ( don't worry my girl knows I went somewhere else) the reviews were great for Salon Seraphim so I gave them a call and they booked me right away! First off the atmosphere is so cute! Secondly the receptionist was so kind and so sweet! Thirdly Michele my stylist was very friendly and listened to what I was looking for! The girl who washed my hair was phenomenal as well! My cut of my hair is outstanding! I was nervous going to someone new but I am so happy with my cut! On my part I forgot to tip the girl who washed my hair!!! I feel awful! Since tomorrow is a holiday "4th of July" I will be coming back Friday to tip you! I am sooooo sorry totally my fault! Joanna is really amazing! She is a full package - a great hair stylist, a great colorist, and a great person to be around. I am so lucky I walked into this salon one afternoon on a week day and Joanna was available for a blow out. She did such a great job without me telling her how I like it, that I came for the roots few weeks later. She managed to pick such a great color, again, without me telling her anything at all. And finally, yesterday I went to her and had the entire thing - highlights, cut, base color, and blow out. She is so amazing! My color looks great and my haircut is just like from the cover of the magazine. The best thing is that I can also style it myself and it looks as good. Joanna is a TALENT! Great salon! I've been here for a haircut and was not disappointed. Recently, I got a Brazilian blowout from Courtney and I love it. I was hesitant because of all the health concerns revolving around Brazilian blowouts and not knowing for sure how well the stylist is trained. Courtney explained the whole process, as she was doing it. She answered all of my questions. And I love how she was gentle with my hair throughout the process and even trimmed up my bangs. She was attentive and gave me a cloth in case the chemicals would burn my eyes (which they didn't) - she would blow it out away from my face. I would absolutely recommend this Salon and in particular Courtney. The reason I didn't give a 5 star is because they should really have better ventilation for this treatment for all the stylist and other clients. read more
