I don't understand why this place doesn't have any reviews for haircuts, coz Jordyn is awesome at styling! I bought a Groupon to this place when I was looking to get a haircut. I was sold when I saw the reviews and the proximity to my apt (just a couple of blocks away!). Jordyn was amazing although I was 5-10 mins late to my appt. She is super friendly, really personable and I didn't even realize how time flew by! We did 5 mins of consulting before we got to it since she wanted to know what I was looking for and I wanted her opinion and input about the same. Once we had "the look" decided, we just ended up chatting the whole time while she cut and styled my hair. And the end product was just what I wanted-in terms of length and style (something others haven't quite been successful at). The real test though was when I washed my hair and set my hair (just a regular blowdry), it was just what I wanted. I would like to mention this specifically since in my experience, and it might just be me, but every time I come out of a salon, I am pleased with my haircut and style but the minute I wash and blowdry my hair, I can never ever get it to look like it did the time of the haircut. Not this time. I got and continue to get the look I wanted and got when I left her salon space. THAT'S the level of expertise and skill that you'll get with Jordyn. I would TOTALLY RECOMMEND Jordyn. Jordyn knows how to share her professional opinion while still listening to what her clients want - a rarity in stylists these days. What can I say... I've just got in from having my hair done by Jordyn and I absolutely love it! I tried highlighting my own hair at home and pretty much ruined it :( I phoned around to different hair salons in the Chicago area and just couldn't find a reasonably priced place.. I debated before writing this review, but decided that as a loyal Yelper that I couldn't just let this go as much as it sucks to have to write it. Disclaimer: Jordyn did NOT do my hair or makeup and I think that's where the problems arose. I made an appointment online through an automated system that is clearly flawed. It sent me 1000 text messages and emails before I'd even gotten close to my appointment time, never mind the day of. Just too many. Then the times for my makeup got mixed up and caused stress, but it was fixed fairly easily. I showed up and met the vibrant and bubbly Jordyn and wished I had known more about this place so I could have made a better decision. I definitely would have gone with her doing everything. She's put together and just gorgeous. I had an appointment to have makeup/hair done for a very important photo shoot/event the day of. I was paired with Madison for makeup and Camrin for hair. I walked in and had to find this little bitty room of a salon. Not typical at all and had I known that this was the way it was set up I definitely would have made a different choice. My mistake. Camrin and Madison were both the sweetest. I really loved their outgoing personalities and how kind and accommodating they were. I had made an appointment for a blowout with Camrin but when I sat down and got ready to have it done she pulls out these HUGE rollers. I have never in my life gotten a blowout with rollers. I expressed my hesitation and said that wasn't what I was looking for but was assured it would be fine. I showed her a picture of what I wanted with curls and was told she could do that. Camrin would blow out tiny sections of hair, one at a time, and then put a roller in. My roots are curly and she wasn't really getting those. It was really not a blowout. Then she gave me the curls I asked for and they doubled the cost of my blowout, but they didn't tell me until it was already done. I wouldn't have paid $55 for someone to curl my hair. My blowouts in NYC (that I get twice a week) are the same price whether I blow it straight, have it flat ironed, or curled. This was a VERY overpriced hairstyle. It also lasted one day. When I slept on it all the curls came out. It wasn't worth what I paid for it. I don't really want to get into the mess that was made of my makeup. Madison was clearly very new to this. My makeup was horrible and I had to do it all myself for my photo shoot. She used drug store products and was just not good at it. I was devastated. Jordyn did apologize and refund my makeup (rightfully so, it was awful), but charged me for the blowout and curl that didn't stay. I wish I had never come here, it really ruined my photo shoot and event. I agree that Jordyn probably does do a good job, unfortunately the people she hires to work for her don't. read more

I had a really good experience at Salon Snob. The owner is the only one who works there, and she is so sweet! It was nice because it was just us the whole time, so we got to get to know each other better than you normally would. It struck me that she is just such a real person. I got a deep conditioning treatment & blow out via a Groupon. She loved that I had used the Groupon, which was nice compared to some frosty receptions I've heard about at other places. She started with a shampoo, then put the hair mask in and gave me a wonderful hand massage. Then she shampooed again and offered me magazines and a beverage while she went to get the hot towel. I asked for water, so she gave me a real glass with bottled water. So nice and homey! Then she gave me a hot towel and did a blow out. She did a great job. My hair looks super shiny and bouncy. She also explained what all the products were doing just so I would know, but she didn't try to sell me anything, which I also appreciated. Also, even though the appointment technically would have been 2 hours, she got it done in one and still had me feeling relaxed. Loved how she was efficient yet friendly. Definitely a loyal customer now! Even if I see a groupon for another place, I'll probably come back to Jordyn. Bonus: She said she'd be in the area for awhile! Note: The salon is a little hard to find by the address alone. If you go down the stairs next to the Gaylord Indian restaurant, through the Phoenix Salon doors, then continue through the back of that salon and the different suites all have individual doors on the left. read more

In desperate need of color and a cut and based on satisfied customers high reviews on Yelp as well as other social media sites, I decided to give Salon Snob a try. I am so glad that I did! Saying that Jordyn does a phenomenal job is an understatement. She's elite. I've been highlighting and coloring my hair for 15 years. I've frequented top salons in NYC and no one has ever done as beautiful of a job as Jordyn does. She is not happy unless her customer is happy. I walked into Salon Snob with not knowing what to expect. I opened the door to my own personal boutique salon. Super amazing. Jordyn's set up made me feel so special. I love that there weren't any other stylists and extra noise a larger Salon can make. OK-sooooo... I have a bit of a long story, but I feel compelled to share it because of how much Jordyn has helped me after just one visit to her salon (bear with me here). I'm in Chicago this summer for an internship (I live out-of-state) and during my time here I decided I wanted a change. I went to three different high-end, respected salons over the course of about a month, and with each visit, my hair (and self-confidence) deteriorated more and more. Background: I'm Asian, and my hair has been dyed increasingly blonder and blonder for the past two years. I wanted to go back to my natural color-something I thought was a relatively easy process (easier than going platinum, at least!). The first salon I went to got my hair dark, but caused a ton of breakage in the process. I left the salon with rocker-chic hair with short bangs (I'm talking closer to my hairline than my eyebrows), because my stylist had to cut my once-long chin-grazing bangs into a choppy Joan-Jett undercut (not a bad look, but I'm totally not that kinda girl... I like long, feminine styles). In other words, I hated it. Fast-forward to my panicking and heading to the next salon, which promised me ashy blonde balayage and a better haircut: what I got was brassy orange highlights and a bob (to "repair the damage"). I was totally hysterical by this point (I felt so unfeminine and unlike myself) that I went to another salon that specialized in color, asking to go back to my natural color and get rid of the brass. I ended up with like... an orange-y head somehow? I also had even more breakage (with an inches-short bob surrounding my crown) and even shorter bangs after that process. I was totally devastated. Finally, I found Jordyn online-and her personality in conjunction with her ability to empathize (and see my hair as I saw it, instead of some "ohhh, it's not that bad" kind of mentality-instantly put me at ease. I walked in and she was honest with me about the condition my hair was in, where we could go from here and why my hair was in the shape it was in. It's obvious she knows what she's doing, and the 5-star ratings on here make all the sense in the world. She fit me in for a color correction (even though she was closing soon... angel) and finally got me to a great starting place for my hair's road of recovery. I now feel WAY more comfortable in my own skin, and my hair looks ten times better than it did when I walked in... as good as it can, you know? She's amazing, and it's clear she actually *cares* about her customers, beyond just a one-time money transaction, which is actually so heartwarming. I got the impression she gave me the exact same treatment and care and customer service she gave her client of 8 years (who she was working on when I arrive), even knowing I'm an out-of-state visitor. Anyway, she recommended extensions to me to help fix my mullet situation, and after mulling it over (see what I did there?), I'm going to go for it. It's wonderful, because I can tell her suggestion of extensions wasn't just to make more money-it was genuinely in my interest, something she thought would improve my looks and self-image while my hair grows out and recovers. We're in the process of figuring out what length/bundle number to go with to fit my budget, but in the meantime, it's wonderful: she's working with me (not judging), she's not just trying to take my money/sell me products/push me out the door (like the other 'top' salons I went to, and spent too much of my savings on their services/products) and she understands the sadness of the situation I'm in. I've never met a stylist who works with clients so willingly and kindly, and who doesn't make me feel pressured or uncomfortable if I'm not able to afford certain things. I'm a student, after all, and I think she sees that. She reminds me of the complete opposite of the saying "They may have won the battle, but they lost the war." Instead of just sucking as much $ as she can from me over my time here, she genuinely wants to build rapport and like... HELP ME AND MY HAIR! In the long run, that kind of character pays off. If I'm ever in Chicago again, she's my go-to. Once I get my extensions, I'll write an updated review and include pictures. Just know, if you're sad about your hair, this is your girl-she'll help you fix it, while making you feel like a cared-for human being. LOL-but really, sometimes that's all you want! It's been a while since I've found a stylist I really liked. Jordyn did an amazing job and I'll definitely be back. She took the time to discuss what we were going to do when I came in - asking questions to learn about how I am with my hair (I like to air dry in the summer sometimes, relatively low maintenance in general). Then she gave suggestions and made sure we were in agreement before we started. She really took her time with the cut and cared about making sure everything with it was perfect. My cut is amazing and I've already received so many compliments on it. On top of that, she was a pleasure to sit and chat with during my appointment. I'm incredibly pleased and relieved to have found someone who has charm and skill. I also got a keratin treatment with her. I've had a few in the past and some were better than others - this one is great! She uses GK, which I prefer (it's so excellent and makes my hair incredibly shiny and smooth). She takes her time and applies it well - my hair looks amazing! Side note - Jordyn rents space in a suite of salon units (it's really nice because it's private and you have her full attention). AMAZING! I cannot emphasize how AWESOME Ana was! I can't recommend this place enough! I came here after a TERRIBLE job by a different salon, and was so nervous and freaking out. I didn't want my hair to be ruined more, and Ana could tell I was a complete nervous wreck. At the other salon the stylist bleached my hair (when I asked for a few light brown highlights) and totally ruined it, making my hair dry, fried and terrible looking. Ana SAVED the day.
