Sal's has easy parking and a central location in Williamsburg, VA., and offers online ordering and pickup. It's always busy but usually worth the wait. I enjoy several of their pasta dishes and on occasion get the pizza. I would recommend you ask for the pizza cooked well done, otherwise, it's not crispy enough for my liking. I've had two pies recently that were pretty much undercooked and the side of sauce was the only reason I'm not as mad as I should be. The worst thing for me when it comes to food, is an underdone pizza with doughy too soft crust. :( read more

Wanted to try this place heard good things so me and misses went it was around 6pm we got seated in what felt like a supply closet see picture which wasn't so bad but the problem was there was only a few tables so out of sure out of mind because the waitress had tables in the main dining room so it took forever for just to see the waitress but then after everything we had to wait extended times for. My complaint Is it took over an hour for two fish dishes we had to get up to find the waitress to ask if we had been forgotten and the lie was fish takes a long time to cook and as we all know it does not but oh well the salad was pathetic it had one onion ring and one grape tomato cut in two and the lettuce was wilted not a great way to start the meal bread was good but served cold , now when the fish finally came out it was a good dish just the setting and service was the problem I think this place has been a big place for years and complacency has set in and they have got away from taking care of the customer and just running on the coat tails of there past success unfortunately I believe that will catch up with them in the future read more

I threw a surprise birthday party for my husband celebrating a milestone day for him. Hosting twenty one people is difficult to do including copious wine, pizza, and a special cake. Everyone had so much fun even before we enjoyed the wine. This establishment has been here for so many years that the locals have known about it before it expanded. We got a variety of wines for each table and then a variety of different pizzas for each table. The men loved the meat pies while the women enjoyed the vegetables one along with a small white. Chicken Saltimbocca was different than we have had. The prosciutto had a clove taste to it. Appearance: did not look too appetizing. Ravioli Cacio e Pepe was one of their specials. It's ravioli, I thought how bad can it be? The cheese filling was so dry and inedible. We came in and were seated all the way in the very back of the restaurant. Our waiter blazed through the menu, telling us what was best to order. We took his reccs. Our appetizer ended up being superbland, unseasoned tomatoes with a slice of mozz and a few shreds of basil. However, we recently did a carryout order, and I had a weird feeling that something was off - the sub looked different, as it was prepared incorrectly. The cheese wasn't melted, the meat was all dried out, and there was hardly any mayo. The bread was also super stale and chewy. The side of fries, while generous in portion, was super greasy and didn't seem to have been drained of the oil properly. I stopped after taking a few bites, while the hubs finished the rest. Unfortunately, both the hubs and I got super sick from the sub, and we knew exactly who the culprit was... Strawberry cake - the owner's wife made it definitely good 4. I am giving a 3 due to the ambience, speed of service, cost point extremely reasonable and the portions being extremely generous. For my daughter I ordered a small cheese pizza which was extremely well made from the surplus of stretchy cheese not chewy to the light sweetness of the sauce. The lobster ravioli had me expecting more due to the rave reviews however it was a mix of chewy overcooked lobster and imitation yuck. Also the sauce was extremely thin almost soup like. They actually delivered my food to another table and once the customer mentioned this they then brought it to my table no thank you. My grandmother also ordered a vegetarian dish and was brought a dish with chicken, but being that I have eaten here many times before, I know this was a one-off mistake. Where do I begin. We were courteously seated very quickly and the waitress asked us what we wanted to drink and we asked for water. The water was served then the wait began to order our food. After our food order was brought to us and we did not see the waitress until she brought us the take home pizza box and bill! She must have passed our table six or more times.
