Sal's was really good. No reservations but the wait wasn't too long & was able to sit inside (cold in Dec.). We went twice on our visit. First time was seated backed up to a door & was cold. Didn't enjoy my food as much as I could have. Next time asked for a booth & dinner was much more enjoyable. The ambiance is so "Italian" & enjoyed. Needed a Stromboli fix and Sal's hit the spot! Ordered the Stromboli to-go and over the phone the woman taking the order was kind and helpful. The Stromboli was hot and ready to go when they said it would be and it was delicious. We had the meat lovers minus ham and it was stuffed full and all the ingredients tasted great. Real Italian fare. Plenty of tables; perfect families and groups. The portions are rather large. The marinara sauce is rich and great tomato flavor. Food was not as good as I anticipated based on the reviews. Small cheese pizza was good, mostly buttery tasting, couldn't taste the sauce. My child enjoyed it. Chicken Saltimbocca was different than we have had. The prosciutto had a clove taste to it. Appearance: did not look too appetizing. Ravioli Cacio e Pepe was one of their specials. It's ravioli, I thought how bad can it be? The cheese filling was so dry and inedible. I tried to make the best of it and sure the filling out and eat the pasta portion of the ravioli, but I had lost my appetite by then. Salad wasn't appetizing either. The greens were rubbery and the one cucumber slice given was dried out. Disclaimer: We are visiting from NYC. We have excellent Italian restaurants near us, in my opinion. Found this restaurant based on distance and yelp reviews. A traditional Italian restaurant but in a shopping center. It was clean and cosy. It is a little hard to find, but it is well worth it. If you are lucky, your server will be KeKe. She was amazing offering suggestions and great service. I will start with dessert since it was so good. Cannolis were delicious- as good or better than Boston. Wonderful carrot cake. For dinner, we had the Chef's sampler - amazing! When I go again, I know that I want the stuffed shells because they were so delicious, but I want everything else too! The pizza looked amazing too. If I could give 25 stars I would! I've been visiting "Sals by Victor" for over 13-years and stop in every time we visit Williamsburg, VA. Sals by Victor is, in my opinion, the best Italian restaurant I've ever visited and I've been to many. Every visit the food has been fantastic, flavorful, hot, and next to perfect. I've had veal, chicken, seafood, pasta, stromboli, pizza, much, much more. This last visit the server wasn't as on-point as other visits but she could have been new and she was managing seven tables; so maybe over-stressed. I am giving a 3 due to the ambience, speed of service, cost point extremely reasonable and the portions being extremely generous. For my daughter I ordered a small cheese pizza which was extremely well made from the surplus of stretchy cheese not chewy to the light sweetness of the sauce. The lobster ravioli had me expecting more due to the rave reviews however it was a mix of chewy overcooked lobster and imitation yuck. Also the sauce was extremely thin almost soup like. They actually delivered my food to another table and once the customer mentioned this they then brought it to my table no thank you. I requested a new one but I'm pretty sure they served me the same one again This place will always get customers as it doesn't close until 11 where the others closed hella early. SAL's, it's all you, not me. When we're in the area, we always have to stop by and order their massive steak and cheese hot sub with a side of fries. However, we recently did a carryout order, and I had a weird feeling that something was off - the sub looked different, as it was prepared incorrectly. The cheese wasn't melted, the meat was all dried out, and there was hardly any mayo. The bread was also super stale and chewy. The side of fries, while generous in portion, was super greasy and didn't seem to have been drained of the oil properly. I stopped after taking a few bites, while the hubs finished the rest. Unfortunately, both the hubs and I got super sick from the sub, and we knew exactly who the culprit was... Maybe the rule of thumb is to always dine in, but there was some handling issue here - whether it was old meat, unsanitary practices, or all of the above, we can't say we'll return to this place in the future. +food made us sick T____T read more

My family and I have been eating at Sal's by Victor my whole life. Tonight was the first time that I have had the lobster ravioli. It was delicious and you could tell that the lobster was fresh! I additionally had the tiramisu for dessert which was perfect. I would say that the server could have been slightly more attentive but she did her best on a busy night. My grandmother also ordered a vegetarian dish and was brought a dish with chicken, but being that I have eaten here many times before, I know this was a one-off mistake. The owner honored the deal, but we gave it back to them for the tip. This place was hidden in the strip mall, but just follow the red sign. Inside the place is really huge as you can get lost. It was busy for a Wednesday night We ordered the following 1. Calamari - I saw a lot of people order it, definitely get this one 2. Seafood Risotto 3. Strawberry cake - the owner's wife made it definitely good 4. I forgot the 4th dish what it was called, it was my wife ordered and it was good Bread was not so good, but it is okay as we were hoping the meal itself was good. Where do I begin. We were courteously seated very quickly and the waitress asked us what we wanted to drink and we asked for water. The water was served then the wait began to order our food. After our food order was brought to us and we did not see the waitress until she brought us the take home pizza box and bill! She must have passed our table six or more times. Busy is not an excuse just to check on your service. The owner, I believe, walked around giving well wishes only to the people he knew. That is not Italian style. My wife ordered pizza that she enjoyed. I ordered gnocchis and there was more sauce than gnocchis!! How much do gnocchis cost to charge the customer $19.99? If there was one cup of gnocchis that was a lot! See picture! I was very disappointed because this is the number one Italian Restaurant in the area. I wonder if Dominos was its only competitor! I usually take home half of the order I received. I ended up eating another piece of bread to fill myself up! Very sad experience. The cashier asked me how everything was and I said fair. She did not even ask me why my experience was fair. Don't waste spending your time and money here and go to a local fast food for dinner! They do not service liquor, only beer and wine and all drinks are by the bottles (there is no bar). Ie juices are in bottles too. The service was a tad slow but it was NYE so I'll give them a break. The flounder Florentine and the works pizza were very enjoyable, and we used the pizza crust to soak up the lemon butter sauce. Amazing place, great atmosphere and excellent food. Went on a Saturday night, sat immediately. Waitress was pleasant but not overly friendly, seemed like she did not want to be working that night. Ordered drinks, just sodas and perused the menu. Prices are steep but the quality was worth it. Had to ask for bread from the waitress but noticed other tables did not have to do that. Started with some fried ravioli, very good, decent amount for three people. Chicken parm dinner was excellent, chicken tender and the portion was large. The nice part was it was a lot of chicken, not just pasta filler. Also ordered a hawaiin pizza, son said it was very good. Ordered a baked ziti, which was excellent and again a great portion size. Three of us were unable to finish our meals which allowed some to go home with us for a nice lunch the next day. I would have given 5 stars but our waitress brought this down. We had to wait a bit to get the check and that after putting down the credit card, waited awhile. Another waitress saw our displeasure and took our bill and brought it right back.
