We ended up here at Huzzah's Eatery out of convenience during our visit because we were staying at the adjacent Woodlands Hotel & Suites. When we arrived the first night, it was a little late so my husband and I sat in the bar area since it is open until 11 p.m. while the restaurant closes at 9:30 p.m. We ended up sitting in the same area the next night after a long day of walking around Colonial Williamsburg because we enjoyed getting to know the bartender that was working both nights. Our server/bartender recommended the local IPA and it was refreshing and tasty. It was a surprise to see the "Impossible Burger" on the menu so my husband and I decided to split that and the Caesar Salad. We both enjoyed the burger and the accompanying yummy tater tots. The salad was just ok. This place definitely has the feel of a hotel restaurant and caters to tourists. We may not have gone here both nights if not for the convenience of its location and the kind and interesting bartender whom we got to know and looked forward to seeing. I don't really get this place. It's the only restaurant on property for the Woodlands hotel but it's more like a glorified snack bar. There are some burgers, sandwiches, pizza but nothing we had was particularly good and it was kinda pricey. In a pinch, it may suffice but there are a lot of great options within 1-2 miles from the hotel that are way better. read more

The first place we saw upon walking in to the visitor's center was a place to eat. Unfortunately the place was closed. No matter, there are more places to eat than just at the visitor's Center. We did eat st the Secret Garden and had drinks and icecream. We found it very relaxing. There will be many more food places to check out. This is a decent option if staying on the grounds at a Colonial Williamsburg property, especially if staying at the Williamsburg Woodlands Hotel across the sidewalk like I did. However, I would never go out of my way to dine at the Huzzah's Eatery. The Huzzah is a CW property. It has the feel of a hotel restaurant as friend Christopher pointed out. It also feels like your on a Disney property if you've ever visited their hotel/dine options. The comparison of food is not even close to being on par with what a Disney would do. My family dined here for dinner and utilized the building for a complimentary breakfast buffet. The restraint hold an estimated 100 guest. There is also a nice patio. It's fitting in decor with a colonial theme of dark wood. The menu features kids favorites like pizza, burgers and chicken fingers. For adults sandwiches and a variety of well rounded meals with different proteins, vegetables and fruit. A hostess seated us to our booth and a waitress followed with a drink order. They do offer beer and wine. The young female server was friendly and personable which was great with small children. The restraint during the Summer was at least a quarter full. Our waitress returned with drinks and we ordered our dinner. The kids sandwiches and pizza. I ordered a brisket wrap. Unfortunately drink refills were not paid attention to as we waited for our order to arrive. Once food hit the table approximately 25 minutes after ordering refills were addressed. The food was served hot. The kids did not complain and were happy. I did try their pizza and it was pretty meh with gross cheese topping. My brisket sandwich with side of fries was just ok. The waitress did perform a check on the food at the appropriate time. The food overall gets a passing grade, but do not expect extraordinary cuisine. Service gets a pass, but improvements could be that they get a floating staff to provide refills. A 3 really fits this establishment well. read more

We were staying at the hotel right across from the restaurant and instead of going into town we decided to try this place. The waitress we had was so sweet. She anticipated all our needs as if she was one step ahead. The fried chicken had just the right amount of seasoning. The mashed potatoes was homemade and tasted amazing. The veggies were nice and fresh. You also cannot beat the price. 3 pieces of fried chicken with mashed potatoes and fried for $16. It was a steal. read more

Found this place only because I was staying at the hotel. The service was good and the staff friendly. I wasn't expecting much as the reviews weren't bad but left me a bit perplexed about choosing to dine. I was glad I did but there were a few minor things. The fried chicken was nice and hot and the mashed potatoes tasted and the broccoli fresh. I would have preferred it sautéed but it was fresh. The chicken had a good amount of seasoning along with a hint of heat. I wasn't sure what it was...the flour or the seasoning before the batter but it was good. The only drawback was it was a bit salty. Dessert: sweet potato pie! Delicious but the slices are way to small. I will totally admit that we went here solely to entertain the kids with the make-your-own pizza gimmick. That being said, we had mixed reviews of the place overall. I ordered the ribs and they were horrible. Dried-out and gross to the point that I ate the tots on the plate and nothing more than two bites of the meat. Husband had the pot roast and loved it and the kids were all about the fun of putting an apron and hat on and making their pizza, which they ate fairly well. For $82, I would have liked to eat more than a leftover piece of pizza and some tots, but if everyone else is happy, I'll take it as a win. read more

To anyone staying at the Williamsburg Woodlands or Lodge, Huzzah's needs to be avoided because it's just basic and mediocre compared to all of the other dining options if you're visiting Colonial Williamsburg. The food isn't terrible by any means. I have certainly had much worse. Aside from the saltiness, the prices aren't even that bad (ok, I'm from New York so I'm used to higher prices for the same fare, others may find them kinda pricey) The service honestly was forgettable. They were not rude, but again, considering all of the other options, if you know your food is meh, perhaps even bleh, and you have tourist prices, at least the service should be worth talking about. It was not. They give you a bowl of salty popcorn when they take your orders. Cute. Nice to chomp on as you play with the little talking points cards they have at every table Fried Chicken: a little too salty but good. Enough to share. Biscuit was great. Ceasar Salad: again, a little on the salty side. Fair size. Spinach artichoke dip was good. Can't complain about it. Mint Julep: Awful. Way way too sweet. Need an alternative to mediocrity at Huzzah's? Head to Colonial Williamaburg and check out: Dog Street Tavern. Not very good at all. We had burgers that were dry and over cooked. The service was slow but not because of the server, they had too many tables and not enough help. I watched the server cleaning her own tables and working inside and outside tables. The prices were quite high and the only good thing I found was the kids pizza. This restaurant was a great place to eat. It was across the walkway from my hotel. The food was great, I would suggest the pizza if you eat here. The waitress gives popcorn bowls while you're waiting which tasted great, it was slightly salted, warm and fresh which made me surprised. There were 4 of us in my party we sat down to eat and were were promptly greeted. Which we should have been because we were the first customers in the restaurant as soon as they opened. The waitress did spill my soda on the table, she didn't clean it up but she gave us napkins to clean, which obviously we did. The waitress seemed very clumsy and overwhelmed, obviously we were the only customers so her being overwhelmed was something else she was dealing with. This is a decent hotel restaurant geared towards families. The place is buzzing after the last of the Williamsburg tours get back to the hotel. They brought out mini southern style biscuits with jelly (yum). We ordered pork rinds for an appetizer and crunched on the leftovers days after. I had the beer flight (good) and chili dog (poor). Eating here is sort of like eating in a hotel's restaurant in that you know things are going to be overpriced, you're only doing it because the location was convenient and if you are able to order something that was even remotely edible then you've left a winner. In other words, I had very low expectations when we ate here. Now this place seems to market itself based on three things: BBQ, homemade BBQ sauces and pizza. Now at a place like this there was no way in hell that I was going to order anything BBQ related as I had zero faith in having something of quality put on my plate. So that led us to naturally go the pizza route but since we wanted to try something additional we opted for the chicken nacho appetizer as well. Let's start with the good part with the chicken nachos. The nachos are actually chips that they make in house as opposed to sort kind of corn based tortilla chip from a bag and surprisingly when combined with the chicken, cheese and other toppings it equaled something that was honestly awesome. So after that high start we were lulled into thinking that maybe the pizza would be good but ehhhhhh, not so much. The cheese was greasy rubber and the sauce tasted like something that would have made Hector Boiardi proud with it's sickeningly sweet flavor. No complaints at all with the service it was just simply a matter of what I assume are inferior ingredients being used to make an inferior product in regards to the pizza. Overpriced, food is average tasting at best, and BBQ sauces leave something to be desired. Wife and son ordered the beef brisket dinner and it arrived with FOUR slices of brisket. I wouldn't be complaining if it didn't cost 16 dollars per plate! Additionally, both my wife and son wanted to substitute a side for the slaw, a request they honored but charged an additional two dollars for the substitution. So, the four slices of brisket with Mac and cheese and fries now costs 18 dollars a piece! The slaw and Mac and cheese are on the same side item list so I'm not sure why they up charge to swap one for the other. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and it was so salty that I could only eat half the sandwich. I tried drowning it in what they attempt to pass off as BBQ sauce, but the four choices they offered were all bad. The server was attentive and friendly so bonus star for that. This is a good place to go if you are staying at the Woodlands Hotel and you don't want to drive or take the shuttle to a nice place to eat. They begin by putting a bowl of popcorn on you table and the salty popcorn is expected to entice you to order one of their many draft beers. It worked for me at $6.95 per 12 ounce glass. I also had a Caesar salad with fried chicken, asparagus, and broccoli. I like greasy chicken but this was about two levels over my level. The chicken was evenly cooked and the inside meat remained warm. The asparagus and broccoli were tasty and tender. My wife had the soup and salad which she said was okay. When I ask about her food and she says "It's okay" I don't pursue my question. If you don't want to drink in your room, you may want to make the short walk to Huzzah's for their drink offerings and take your meals elsewhere. read more

We did not have a good experience at Huzzah's, unfortunately. The service was not good. The food wasn't great either. For example, the southern fried chicken was over cooked. And the mashed potatoes were pure butter. The service was so bad too. By the end, my credit card was charged for the wrong check. Instead of refunding me for the mistake, I was charged the wrong check a second time AND charged for my check. So I basically paid three times. By the time I saw my bank transactions, I was no longer in the area and had to call. Mistakes happen and they were able to fix the two incorrect charges. Overall just a bad night for Huzzah's. The 2nd star is that they allow the kids to make their own pizza, which is a nice touch. read more

Soup was too oily, focaccia bread in my BLT, as good as that sounds was not very good, kind of saggy, and over buttered. As guests At Williamsburg Woodlands we came for dinner after a travel day and were pleasantly surprised to find such delicious food and pleasant service steps from our hotel. So much so we returned our second evening. Our waitress Stephanie and bar keep Joey created a fun and relaxing dining experience. The Mexican Mule cocktail was icy cold, biting with flavor! I could have slipped down a couple too many! Stephanie made certain we had everything we needed without breaking the flow of conversation, and afterwards gave us recommendations for our next meal, which almost guarantees our return. The Cobb Salad is huge, crunchy fresh and filled with flavors from pickled veggies to a deviled egg. The salt and vinegar smoked wings, seriously the best wings we have ever had! The side dishes are...odd, to say the least, My cucumber and (grape) tomato salad was fine as was the coleslaw but my dining partner liked neither his baked beans (with chopped tomato) or succotash (with grape tomatoes). I have to say. I was blown away by this place. We were staying last weekend at the Woodland's Hotel (next door) and I was excited to hear there was a restaurant at the hotel. The Huzzah! Restaurant is located in a separate building just steps away from the Woodland's lobby. After a tiring day through Colonial Williamsburg we decided to shower and have a casual dinner here before going out later in the evening. When we walked in at 5:30 (Friday night) we were thinking of just sitting at a high top table at the bar but instead grabbed a cozy booth by the window. It was pretty empty for this time so noise was not a factor. We were greeted by John O. Who hands down is my favorite server of all time. Being a craft beer lover (but not as knowledgeable as I'd like to be) I asked him what they had on tap. Instead of running down the list he asked me what type of beer I liked and proceeded to give me the perfect selection. Their beer selection is extensive and is all local breweries which is great! I went with a Pale Ale from a DE brewery (can't remember the name, oops!) but it was perfect and just what I needed after a sunny day full of walking. The place is BBQ style reminding me a lot of Famous Dave's (if you're familiar with those). I went with the half chicken, which was seasoned to perfection with a tangy/sweet BBQ sauce. Their table is filled with different sauces ranging from sweet to vinegary. Sure to please any palate! I opted for the mixed carrots which you may seem is not that exciting but boyfriend and I were blown away. The boyfriend went with the tomato soup and fancy grilled cheese, which was served on a nice crusty bread. It was gone within two minutes! We didn't have room for dessert but if we had, we would have tried the "Kitchen Sink Sundae". Go! Don't be turned off by the fact that it is a "hotel restaurant". They have different mules (I tried a couple and they were delicious) and Also got the 'burg hot chicken sandwich both nights, which hit the spot for me and came with tator tots! Service the first night was so-so, but the second was excellent, so it all comes out in the wash. I waited for a refill for at least 15-20 mins on Tuesday night that wasn't overly crowded . I wound up going to the bar to get a refill because our waitress was out of sight. A very comfortable place with great music playing in the background. I wanted the Flights & Bites, but they said they were not preparing the bites for lunch. The four local beers were decent, but the craft beer market has grown so much, these just don't stand out. Williamsburg Alewerks had 3 of the 4 beers on the flight; the wheat was the best of them, but the spiciness was overdone and seem to be added spices rather than natural esters from fermentation. The pork BBQ sandwhich was decent, but a little fatty. The four sauces were okay. I liked the South Carolina mustard sauce the best; I'm not sure what was in the North Carolina sauce bottle, but it was not typical of the style (it was more of an infused vinegar, rather than a vinegar-based sauce). Overall: comfortable, friendly, and convenient, but there are better options in Williamsburg. read more

Highly recommend this place! All of our food was great. Went there on a whim with the family haven't been there in five years and the new menu is great. Everyone in our group cleaned their plates. Large portions and complementary biscuits and honey butter that were amazing. Don't skip on the loaded tots and the deviled eggs. Spent $18 on fettuccini Alfredo with grilled chicken to take back to the room. It was a small portion and more than half of the pasta was stuck together in giant clumps. It was also bland and needed a lot of salt and pepper. The sauce tasted of a cream and butter sauce as opposed to a creamy cheese sauce.
