This auto repair shop is so trustworthy that I had my car towed from a dealership in New Hampshire to Sal's in order to replace the engine. It was less than half the cost and I have put another 50,000 miles on the car. Bob and all the guys are old-fashioned, decent people. read more

I would give this shop 0 stars if possible. The most unprofessional "service center" I have ever been to, no respect for customer property. Went in for a tire mount and balance, very simple job. Left with about $800-$1000 in damages. Even with very clear before and after pictures of the damages that could have only been done here, they only decided to compensate me for 200! Stay away! unless you enjoy paying for others mistakes. My wheels had 0 curb rash, scratches, or any marks before bringing my car in. read more

I have lived up here for about 8 years now and it took me a while to find these guys. I myself am not a car guy and especially with newer cars I am totally lost. I struggled to find a place I could trust and believe me when I say I shopped around. They have consistently fixed both my car and my wife's promptly and at reasonable prices. I own and operate a large farm in cross river, the guys at sals have been very helpful, towing cars, tractors and once even a stump for me. I bring my many farm vehicles and trailers there for service. Over the years I've gotten to know the staff, all very pleasant, the owner the large fella, Mike is great he's very helpful and has got me out of a few pickles. Bob and Artie really helped me out on the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend. They fixed my flat and inspected the tire to be sure it was safe to drive. This is the second time that people at this shop have gone above and beyond to help me out. Terrible. If your in a jam don't get it towed to here! They are crook's especially when your dealing with your insurance. I had my car towed there in a snow storm. They literally let it sit there for month before saying they couldn't do the body work and get it towed to a different shop all the time incurring 75$ storage fees daily. It ended up costing over 2000$ in storage fees and they did NOTHING to the car. This place should definitely be investigated for their practices. Warning to all please think twice before going here even if your in a jam and it's the closest shop. it won't be a good experience read more

"Just" the annual safety inspection--that's all they had to do. But the boss was not in. It took him fifteen minutes to do my wife's 2015 SUV with no problems found. These guys took my pickup in and FIFTY MINUTES later they had "found" problems that *spoiler alert* they could fix it for an additional $41 in parts. After getting home, I googled the problem and found the parts cost $17-22 everywhere else. Also while I was waiting "Arthur" was a real jerk to a quiet, pleasant woman who needed help with a new car. Note: only one of the persons behind the counter could be bothered to wear a mask, and even he had it off part of the time. read more

These guys are crooks. They way overcharge--they just keep adding things to the invoice, especially if you are going through insurance. They should be investigated. Storage charge, $60 per day. OK. Mike and his team at Sal's Service it top notch. Have been coming here for 10 years. Be assured you and your car will be taken care of every time it's repaired or inspected. FYI, MA from Brooklyn reviewed Sal's saying they always purchased their vehicles here and said there was some confusion about getting their car inspected. They must have Sal's mixed up with another garage, as Sal's is not a dealership in any way. They don't sell cars, only repair them. So, I wouldn't put any value in their review. read more

The gentleman that towed my car was AWESOME! My car was towed off the highway with a flat, after business hours. My concern was the next morning when I called the shop they were not friendly, they ordered a tire for my car without speaking to me first. When I called 5 hours later for an update, I was made to feel like I was bothering them, only to find that my car was ready. Mind you they knew I lived in NJ an hour away. When I asked the price, they didn't know and told me to just come in. Then when I got there, I was looked at by the person cashing me out and he decided to starting talking to his buddy's about how Trump was going to win. I keep politics out of business at all times. I feel like the color of my skin set him off in some way, not even knowing if was supporting Trump or not. There was an ASSumption. I don't play the race card ever, but I was uncomfortable. I would never go back there. Would have gotten at least 4 stars otherwise. Very disappointed in the customer service. read more

I visited this business for an emission test. The man working claimed that the light bulb by the license plate needed replacement after he had "replaced it." I wondered why he would not tell me beforehand but I didn't read too much into it. Long story short, he charged me an additional $10 more for the light bulb "replacement." The next day while opening the car trunk I realized that the same lite fixture by the license plate was dangling on one end and held together by clear scotch-tape on the other. The light did not work, too! I called Sal's immediately thereafter. I recognized the man's voice on the phone, the same man who worked on the car- I don't know his name but he is heavy set, tall and Neanderthal-like. He pretended not to remember me. I refreshed his recollection. He finally admitted that "the screw had broke," and "I put the tape there," and that, "no body could see it." He let me leave that garage with a non-working and improperly installed lite fixture and never informed me about it- in fact the opposite- and charged me for it! That is really what I dealt with when visiting this place. Be very very careful. read more

This morning, I was trying to remove a foot of heavy frozen ice chunks from the top of my driveway to get to work. A Sal's truck just happened to be passing by, and just stopped and plowed away the heavy mess, saving me plenty of time and aggravation. Very thankful for the kind deed. read more

I came here today to do my annual inspection. My husband and I have both brought our vehicles here for years. I showed up at 1 o'clock and the guy at the front desk said that they only take appointments to do inspections. (this is new. I've never made an appointment for inspections in the past) I try to make an appointment for 215, however they apparently only take appointments on the half hour. The guy assured me that an inspection only takes 10 minutes and told me to come back at 2:30 (I was concerned and told him I had to leave for work at 2:45) . I showed up at 2:30 for my appt and was told by a different guy that inspections take 20 minutes. He said that the first guy should have never told me that it only takes 10. When I spoke to the guy that scheduled my appointment, he was SO rude and dismissive. So, after coming here twice today, they didn't honor my appointment time. A COMPLETE waste of time!!! So disappointing, as my husband and I purchased a home in the neighborhood. We definitely won't be coming back here! read more

HORRIBLE service. I called to make an appointment on Thursday of last week for Monday of the following week for a NYS inspection and photo inspection for a recently purchased car (required by insurance). This is one of Liberty Mutual's "authorized" shops however when I arrived, I was told quite rudely that they don't make appointments and the guy that could do the inspections was out on a tow job. So I guess they don't care about the customer that called in advance. The place is also disgusting - dirtier than a normal shop would be. It is dilapidated - it looked like part of the building structure was going to collapse. I'm glad my car didn't end up going in there but BEWARE - THIS PLACE STINKS. read more

If I could give no stars I would. I brought my car to these people because it broke down and had to be towed somewhere, and this was one of the few Triple A approved places where they'd tow it at no charge. The task at hand was to replace the clutch and the clutch slave cylinder. Now I know my way around a car pretty well, and I know that those things should only take about 8 hours of labor to do. It took them 2 WEEKS! I don't have another car, so for those two weeks I had to bum rides off friends or family members in the area. Every time I called them asking what the progress was I got "yes, we're working hard on it" but for days I'd pass by the shop only to see that it hadn't moved an inch. When they finally started the work, they messed up the install (I know this because they told me) and then they had the nerve to charge me for the time it took them to fix their own mistake!!! Never again will I let them touch my car, and I STRONGLY suggest you do the same. Easily worth it to pay extra to have the car towed somewhere else. They have a terrible reputation among the car enthusiasts I speak to. PLEASE DON'T USE THEM!!!!! read more
