Great casual and fun spot to get authentic Mexican food!! This location specifically is quite large and has a ton of seating including an outdor patio. My boyfriend and I popped in without a reservation and they were able to seat us immediately. They give you complimentary chips & bean dip (it has cheese, but if you can't have cheese they'll bring you a bean dip without the cheese!). The chips are crispy and addictive. We ordered the fajitas combo which comes with steak, chicken, and shrimp. We were debating adding on another entree but our waiter honestly told us the fajitas is a large portion and is good to split amongst 2 ppl. I really appreciated that honesty, it really made me respect him & the restaurant so much more - often times, people recommend ordering way too many dishes! The fajitas came out unbelievably fast so it's great if you're hangry and impatient haha. They were sizzling so we waited a few minutes for everything to cool down. It was delicious! Once parked we were on our way inside oh man they were pretty busy we put our name on the waiting list. We were called within 15 minutes. After being seated we looked at the menus LOL all the prices were punched out of the menu. Our waiter said to scan the code on the table. The prices were different from the menu and the website they had a price for cash and a higher price for credit cards. We were served tortilla chips and bean dip. Delicious Fajitas or carne asada plate for under $30 what a deal. I can never finish it and can get almost 3 servings out of this one order. It's probably because I start off with the chips and bean dip which are so good with a tall glass of Modelo with a lime. By the time the main entrees are served I I get full off chips. I never forget the beer, but I always forget the salsa because you have to get it yourself at the salsa bar. I have yet to try it, but is another reason to come back. I was told 25 mins, went back to the car and we waited about 15 mins and got a spot. No problem. And by then, our table was ready. I have not been back to this location in about 8-9 years. As I last remembered, their was a line to get into the parking lot but it moved quickly (5 car wait). I waited no more then 10 mins before I was escorted to my parking spot. The wait time for groups 2 people or more was about 35 mins, not to bad compared to their usual 50-85mins. Because I know my way around this restaurant I went straight for their 2nd bar off to the left past the entrance and what did you, there was plenty of room to sit down enjoy a nice house Margarita, eat and watch today's Dodgers game ! While the bartender was busy he immediately greeted me then offered if I wanted anything to drink! I ordered the House Margarita which does the job every single time! My drink arrived within 3 mins along with freshly made warm chips and their renowned bean dip! I love their bean dip! Within 5 mins or less I placed my order Guadalajara Carnitas and I added charred Jalapeños on top! This is the dish that made me fall in love with this place! The food came in under 10 mins. Just as I was finishing my 1st Margarita. The flavors were just as I remembered! BOLD, RICH, CREAMY and SPICY JUST HOW I LIKE IT! I did visit their salsa bar as I always benefit from more flavorful spice! 2 large plates were placed in front of me, one with the cárnitas sitting on top of grilled onions and peppers covered with a soft stretchy cheese along side of a small salad. I remember one time we tried ordering from somewhere new around Christmas, but they were closed, but Salsa & Beer came to the rescue. Not only were they open, but the food was prepared quickly and there was so much of it that we had a proper holiday feast. First of all, the portions by themselves are big, like I always end up taking half of what I ordered home. This is by far the best Salsa and Beer location I've been to! The decor really captures a great Mexican theme and their atmosphere is lively from start to finish. They've got a good-sized bar, but the booths are just as comfortable if you're looking for something more relaxed. The bean dip is absolutely delicious, and the chicken taquitos and margaritas are made to perfection. My family and I have also ordered catering from them for our Christmas parties, and although it's first-come-first-served (which can be a bit of a hassle), it was completely worth it. The amount of food we got for the price quoted was an absolute steal. Since this is their best location in my opinion, it does get packed and you can end up waiting a while. But it's worth it every time, especially given how great the food is. The staff is wonderful too, doing a great job of taking orders and getting everything out in a reasonable amount of time. The salsa bar is great with a load of sauces to choose from. Depending on your spice level, there's pretty much a good selection. Chips and dips is bottomless but don't overdo it. They have several locations but this is the only one I've been to. There's multiple TVs near the bar areas, usually playing sports. Never heard any music jn there nor is it really loud. It's a little dark and divey on the inside, with lots of smoke from all the sizzling fajita plates being brought to tables. Items I personally recommend: The taquitos: they're not dry liked you'd get at most places, great flavor (I like to get mine with a side of the cream sauce which is similar to queso) The carnitas: HUGE portion, well seasoned and juicy Burritos: they're gigantic Bean dip: this automatically comes to the table with warm chips. It's thick, well seasoned and has a little spice. It's the same dip that comes on the plate with rice. The margaritas: I prefer mine in the rocks with no salt. You don't need more than 2 cuz those babies will sneak up on you You'll always leave with leftovers. Come before dark to avoid the line for parking, the line gets long because the lot is small so you may be waiting a bit for parking. The parking lot is a bit tough to maneuver in and out of due to small spaces and a narrow exit, but there is street parking as well. We were greeted and seated quickly to a spacious booth in the back. Our waitress was friendly and arrived with bean dip and chips. There is a salsa bar with a variety of salsas that range from mild to very spicy, all fresh and delicious. We love a good jalapeño margarita and these were top notch and so very delicious! Uninspired food. This establishment used to be the great and have such amazing flavors. My chicken had grill marks but was cold and dry on top of sizling vegetables which were great. Salsa & Beer is one of my favorite Mexican food spots. They have a couple locations in the valley. This location is always very busy, typically have to wait to find a parking spot, but it goes pretty fast and even though they are super busy, they get you seated pretty fast normally as the place is really big with indoor seating as well as a large patio area. This location also has two bars you can grab drinks at while waiting, nice to be able to relax with a cold beer while waiting and catch the game or just hang with friends or family. The salsa here is excellent, my favorite is the Orange Habanero salsa, can't get enough of it, nice heat, but also tastes so good. They serve you unlimited chips and salsa and bean dip, can't fill up on just those while waiting for your food. Speaking of the food, they are very generous with the portions her, so come hungry and you will probably have plenty to take home as well. Pro tip: make sure you bring cash, otherwise they charge you a fee to use a credit card, I think it is 3.5%, could be more these days, but save the extra money and pay cash. You can't go wrong with anything here, have gotten so many things and loved them. Tonight we ordered steak fajitas, asada burrito, asada burrito molcajete burrito steak and shrimp tacos. Everything was amazing and we have food for a couple more days I'm sure. A family of 4 will cost over $100, if you get drinks, could be well past. We went to Salsa & Beer in Sun Valley off Sherman Way on a Friday evening around 7 PM, and overall, our experience was excellent!! When we arrived, we were given a basket of chips with bean dip while we waited for our food. The bean dip was a great surprise and had a nice kick with a lot of flavor. They also have a salsa bar available, but honestly, we never even needed it because everything tasted so good on its own. My wife had the chicken taquito combo, which came with rice and beans, and I had the carne asada and cheese enchilada plate, which also came with rice, beans, and three tortillas (I chose flour). The food was extremely tasty, perfectly seasoned, and came in very generous portions. One plate could easily feed two people. We were STUFFED!! My wife's chicken taquitos were packed with flavorful chicken, and my carne asada plate really caught me by surprise. I was expecting maybe one portion of carne asada, but it came with THREE large pieces! The food was so good that it didn't need any extra salt, salsa, or seasoning. It was already that good!! We also ordered two blended mango margaritas, and they were delicious! They were a good size, full of flavor, and the perfect addition to the meal. The only downsides to our experience were the parking and a couple of small service issues. Parking is very limited, but that also shows how busy and popular this place is. We were told there would be a 15 to 20 minute wait when we checked in, but we were seated after only about a minute, so that was a nice surprise. Our server also didn't really come by to check on us during the meal, which normally would be a problem. However, because everything tasted great and we didn't really need anything, it wasn't a big issue this time. Another thing to note is that they have different cash and credit card prices. I'm personally not a fan of that and would rather see one set price that factors in the cost of doing business, but at least we knew about it ahead of time and it wasn't a surprise.
