    Green Salsa Skirt Steak Chilaquiles
    Angela A.

Upon arrival, you must check in by writing your name on their list. Unfortunately, they don't have an updated system where they text you once your table is ready, so you have to wait inside or be close enough to hear your name called out. There really isn't a waiting area, so everyone stands by the bar top and entrance. Best chilaquiles I've ever had. The green salsa was perfection, the tortilla chips are crunchy, and the meat was tender and well seasoned. Topped with queso fresco and pickled red onions is just one of the greatest breakfast combos ever. This dish is what they're known for, and the chicken and waffles were good too, but they didn't even come close to the green chilaquiles. The waffle is fluffy and moist, and the chicken has a great texture. They don't have Louisiana hot sauce, only Tabasco, Tapatio, and Cholula.

My friend and I decided to check out the Hungry Fox for brunch. I got there a little before her and put our names down. It was about a 15 minute wait on a busy Sunday afternoon, but I would say that 15 minute wait is not that bad. They have a parking lot with free parking, so that's very convenient but that space inside is quite intimate but it's a cute diner. The host and staff were all friendly but the service was a bit slow and not super attentive. I ordered the fried chicken and waffles and my friend ordered a chicken chillaquilles with a red sauce. The food in my opinion was underwhelming. I enjoyed my waffles and I appreciated the smaller pieces of chicken but, I felt like it lacked flavor. The chillaquilles also lacked flavor and felt a bit bland. It was disappointing because those two dishes are supposed to be their best selllers! They also forgot my Thai iced coffee and charged it to our bill, so I made sure to point it out to them before paying. Overall, I feel like this was an overhyped brunch place and I'm glad I gave it a try but, I would not recommend it.

I can't recall when I first drove by The Hungry Fox. I kept wanting to go, but was always on my way somewhere. Today, my husband took me for my birthday breakfast. All I can say is that I wish we had come sooner. The Hungry Fox is a really cute diner with the loveliest two women running it. Gina was absolutely wonderful. But the star is the chef behind the scenes. I had the Brian Likes It! A breakfast sandwich made with waffles, eggs, ham, cheese and avocado. It comes with hash browns or home style potatoes. I'm ruined for any other breakfast. SO GOOD!! And a massive portion. My husband had the California Omelette. Not a crumb left on his plate. It also came with the best homemade strawberry banana jam. That needs to be bottled and sold. Hungry Fox, thank you for a delicious meal.

I'm a sucker for a legacy location that's survived through the decades and changed just enough to stay relevant without losing their charm. That's why I was excited to try Hungry Fox, which I've only just discovered despite living here for 39 years, and despite the fact that the HF has been open since the early 1940's. Unfortunately the experience wasn't quite what I'd hoped for, though there were definitely some bright spots. To begin, the exterior of this neighborhood coffee shop is a vibrant green that catches the eye in a very inviting way. Inside, the staff is as friendly as can be, offering a quick, lively greeting and seating me fast. I was seated at a booth on the long side of the venue, and you can tell that this area was originally occupied by an old-fashioned counter with stools. At some point, the counter was removed and replaced by booths and tables in order to increase seating capacity, but the service shelving that would have been hidden behind the counter is now completely visible, and a big stash of back-up dishes and cleaning supplies isn't the most appetizing environment for a meal. Additionally, the wood trim around the booths and the textured wallpaper have absorbed quite a bit of grease, and could really use a deep cleaning. I normally love the throwback nature of these old-school gems, but this one just seemed a tad too untended. As to the food, I opted for a diner classic: Corned Beef Hash with Eggs Over Medium, Home Fries and White Toast. The hash was the best of the components, seemingly made in-house and cooked to a nice crisp as I requested. The flavor was memorable, with unconventional seasonings that were a really nice surprise. The eggs, however, were a disappointment: cooked in too much oil that was probably too hot, the egg whites were "fried" to a crispness that made them tough, and if you look at the close-up photo you'll see the oil pooling on the eggs. I only ate one of them. Home fries were also cooked on a too-high heat, the skins getting burned without being truly crispy, and there was very little flavor despite the inclusion of onions and peppers. Toast was made too soon after my order and arrived cold. So, while I accept higher prices in our current economy, this really didn't feel like a breakfast plate worthy of its $20 price tag. In the end, the people here are nice, and I hate to not be supportive, but I don't know that I would return anytime soon. And with other similar legacy locations starting to close, it would be great if the owners here were able to step up their game at least a little bit to attract new folks like me and keep us coming in.

We drove about 40 minutes to have brunch at the Hungry Fox. I think my husband came across a review on social media. There was a crowd outside waiting for a table. We probably waited 20-30 minutes to be called. Once seated we quickly got drinks & our food followed soon after. We were trying to have something different but the chilaquiles always suck us in. Overall it was a good experience, good food, fast service & lots of street parking. They do have a private parking lot but I'm sure it fills up fast. I tried Thai coffee for the first time, pretty yummy. The loco moco was unfortunately bland. I sprinkled pepper on it to give it a kick. Our chilaquiles came in red & green salsa, although we asked for green. Not a problem, my husband ate the red side & I ate the green. The steak was tender & perfectly medium rare. Try it out!

We always have the absolute best experience at Hungry Fox in North Hollywood! Finding a spot that serves legendary comfort food while being genuinely welcoming to families can be tough, but this place nails it.The customer service is outstanding from the moment you walk in. The staff always go above and beyond to make sure my kids and I are well taken care of. They are incredibly patient, attentive, and bring a warm neighborhood energy that you just don't see everywhere. As for the food, the Fried Chicken and Waffles lived up to all the hype, and the massive portions mean nobody leaves hungry. It's the perfect, cozy tradition for us now. If you want a phenomenal breakfast paired with top-tier hospitality, this is the spot!

This place has become my new favorite breakfast spot. We got the chicken and waffles, and marinated skirt steak with chilaquiles (with half green and half red sauce). Both were phenomenal. The sweet and spicy sauce that came with the chicken and waffles was absolute perfection. And the steak was the softest most tender steak I've ever gotten for breakfast. We will definitely be coming back and soon. Their cafe de olla was also divine.

Back in 2026 and this place never disappoints! Their menu looks updated to have spam kimchi fried rice and some other new items but we couldn't resist getting the oldies but goodies. Thai green tea: floral and sweet in the best way possible! Pam's loco moco: still seasoned perfectly with lots of garlic and peppercorns and just the right amount of fat. Country fried steak: their batter is seasoned perfectly and it tastes like a giant nugget and I mean that it's so delicious!! Service is always great here, best breakfast in town!

The Hungry Fox had to be my first review of the year!!! Our first time there and now we will be forever patrons! Staff was super friendly and the menu was vast - I was so excited to see options like spam, loco moco and white rice!!! The rice was cooked perfectly and was so good! It hit the spot on a rainy day, exploring North Hollywood. Thanks for a great start to 2026!!

Large party 15% overcharge for just a family of 4

Came to the hungry fox for the first time with Wife and two kids . Food is good . I would recommend people to come over and try the hungry fox. Just wanna give you guys a heads up that they charge you 15% ( 15 dollars ) for large Party of 4 . I think it's really ridiculous because large party is 6 to 8 people.

I've been to the hungry Fox a couple of times. I have enjoyed every visit and meal here. As always, there was a bit of a wait but as soon as a table is available they don't waste any time and prepare it for the next party. Everyone who works here is welcoming and friendly! You can tell how much they care about their business and creating yummy meals for others. Once my mom and I sat down, our order was taken. The food came out in 15-20 minutes. My mom and I orders the eggs and bacon meal. The hashbrowns were a generous amount and just your plain hashbrowns. They are very generous with the bacon! I was only able to eat two strips and took the rest home. The bread with butter and their house made jam was delicious. The waffle was delicious. My mom usually isn't a fan of waffles but these won her over for their soft and delicious flavor! I love the waffles here, and two squares was more than enough to satisfy my craving! While eating my meal I noticed customers around me happy and enjoying their food. It's clear that The Hungry Fox is a gem in the San Fernando valley that creates homemade meals and a place for loved ones to come together. I will definitely be back. :)

Are they still adding the $18 tip on the check?

Hi! Thanks for asking 😊 We include a 15% service charge for parties of 4 or more. For smaller groups, gratuity is entirely optional. Hope to see you soon!

Does 'not sold by the piece' mean I can't get an all white meat chicken & waffle order?

You can get it but its extra

Do they gluten free options or dairy free? Do they accommodate for those with food sensitivities?

Truthfully I do not think so. It's a very old school type of place, which is its appeal. They gave by caught up on these times. Sorry. I do hope this was helpful.

Do they have high chairs available for babies?

    Yes

When does the early bird menu end?

We were genuinely excited to find a BBQ spot we enjoyed, and for a while, we were happy customers. Unfortunately, over time, our experience became increasingly disappointing, particularly when it came to the size and consistency of the ribs. The first couple of times we ordered, the ribs looked like a standard, reasonable portion. But on our later visits, we noticed that the ribs appeared noticeably smaller. It wasn't just a one-time observation; after seeing the difference several times, we decided to call and ask about it. We weren't looking for anything unreasonable, we simply wanted an explanation and some consistency in what we were paying for. We were told, "Sorry, we'll have our manager get back to you." We appreciated that someone would supposedly follow up, so we gave them the benefit of the doubt. It has now been a couple of months, and we have never received a call, email, or any kind of follow-up. That part is honestly just as disappointing as the portion issue. Bludso's prices are high, and when you're paying premium prices for BBQ, you expect the quality and portions to be consistent. We understand that food costs, labor, and operating a restaurant are expensive, we're not expecting bargain prices. But when a restaurant charges what Bludso's charges, customers have every right to expect that the portions will be consistent and that legitimate concerns will be taken seriously. In a time when the cost of everything continues to rise and people have to think carefully about where they spend their money, spending more at a restaurant should come with the expectation of getting a quality experience. If we're willing to pay higher prices, we expect the food and customer service to reflect that. What really sealed the deal for us was that we actually tried to address the issue directly. We didn't immediately leave a negative review or complain online. We called the restaurant, explained our concern, and gave them an opportunity to respond. Unfortunately, the fact that nobody ever bothered to follow up after promising that a manager would contact us left us feeling like our business and feedback simply weren't important. We enjoyed Bludso's when we first discovered it, which makes this even more disappointing. But there are plenty of BBQ options out there, and at these prices, we don't feel there's a reason to continue spending our money somewhere that doesn't provide consistency or follow through with its customers. We tried. We gave them multiple chances. We reached out and gave them an opportunity to make it right. Unfortunately, we've moved on. No more Bludso's for us.

The owners and their family work there, too, and always make me, my dog and my friends feel so welcomed and special. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

There is also large separate side patio area that is great for large parties. The menu is varied, and the food is excellent and fresh. I had the pleasure of meeting owner the last time I was there. She is the loveliest person who takes so much pride in her restaurant.

Usually these places don't want the likes of me at a table ruining the ambience. The management (Katie) at the Capital Grille genuinely treated me like a guest. If the Capital Grille in Burbank treats the lowly AV guy as a guest imagine how well you will be treated in this establishment. I'm continually surprised by the pretentious attitude of restaurants. This is not the case with the Capital Grille in Burbank. They genuinely have a sincere concern to ensure every person that walks through the door has a wonderful experience.

Was in the area, and had never been here, plus the menu looked good, so made a quick reservation…read moreand stopped by for an early dinner. Sat at the bar and we were greeted immediately and provided water. After a quick glance at the menu, started off with cocktails. The Mai Tai want your classic Mai Tai, and the better said they were missing an ingredient, so he did a twist on the Mai Tai. It was ok, felt it was missing a needed flavor element though. The passion fruit mojito was pretty tasty though, definitely had that mojito taste with a little passion fruit pop. For food we started with two grilled oysters and the lobster and crab cake. The grilled oysters were delicious, but how do you go wrong with anple cheese and bread crumbs texture on an oyster? The lobster and crab cake was also great, plenty of crab and lobster meat within. Exactly what you would want in this dish. For entrees we went with the dry aged New York strip and, they had a special wagyu Burger with blue cheese and truffle. The strip was aged for 18-24 days, cooked perfectly and was so tender. Just a bite you want to enjoy each time. The burger was also delicious with the truffle mixed with the blue cheese and caramelized onions. You get a little of everything in each bite, just makes your mouth happy. Overall, nice steakhouse spot in Burbank that is well with the trip. That burger was phenomenal, as was the NY strip, and that lobster and crab cake along with the oysters, delicious. The Mai Tai could be improved but they did what they could with the ingredients on hand, so that's my fault for choosing something they didn't have everything for. Definitely a nice gem in Burbank so, if you're in the area, and are hungry, go stop by and enjoy what they have to offer in an upscale space.
