Delicious food, and fast service. They load up their bowls and burritos so the portion sizes are generous. Everything is completely customizable which I love. Picked up an order for a Sam Juan salad that was disgusting. For a salad there was barely any lettuce to be found. It was mostly room temperature rice, not even listed in the description, that was somehow soggy, overcooked and tasteless all at the same time. Portions were off all around- minimal chicken and cheese, a tablespoon of guacamole at best (and that cost extra) but tons of rice and beans that overpowered the taste and gave such an off putting texture that was impossible to eat around, They forgot the sour cream. The only star is for the lime dressing that was very good but couldn't make it taste better. Have been to other locations with a better experience. Will never return to this one again. read more

We went there last night for a dinner before a movie. The service was quick, efficient and friendly. The food was delicious. I had a "Make your own bowl" and made it vegan. It came with chips and salsa. Both the chips and salsa were fresh and the chips were crispy. The seating area was clean and neat. I would definitely return! read more

OK.....I'm going to address the problem right from the giddyup: The place is called "Salsa Fresca" BUT!!! The salsa they serve is AWFUL!!! As in, it's seriously the worst salsa I've consumed. And "salsa" is in the restaurant's name, LOL!!! You think that would be their pride & joy. My son and I both agree it tastes more like Italian tomato sauce rather than a good salsa. So as for the actual food on the menu, yes, that's all good in my book. It's pretty much standard Mexican or Tex-Mex fare, whatever you want to classify it as. But seriously, fix that salsa. This use to be one of my favorite places to go. Like other reviewers have said (Jennifer Z review nailed it), they have gone really down hill the past year or two. They purposely serve smaller portions, while raising prices (they have been instructed to cut back on the portions) The quality of the ingredients have also decreased substantially and numerous customers are noticing this. The food itself is okay. Similar restaurants like chipotle are better quality. The chips were stale and the beans were still hard. The service is pretty poor given the fact that I was given a bowl smaller than the typical portion. I hate to bring these kind of things up, but 17 dollar to be skimped on the size is ridiculous. Absolutely delicious. I went here with my fiance, he said I would like Salsa Fresca, he was right. Similar to Chipotle but what I noticed was everything tasted fresher (like the sign says). I ordered the shredded beef tortilla bowl with cheese, black beans, a salsa/corn mix, guacamole, and brown rice, everything for the most part was delicious. What I noticed was that the tortilla bowl was a little soggy from the condiments inside which I didn't care for, they did for some reason give me a side of tortilla chips, I thought that was odd since my bowl was made out of tortilla. The guacamole was roughly the same price as Chipotle's guacamole which I had expected. The inside of Salsa Fresca was very clean and open, the employees were very friendly. What I didn't like was the fact that they didn't have steak and barbecoa, I guess they can't be just like Chipotle. The location is great, I'm particularly happy with the fact that it's a closer drive than Cipotle. Definitely going back again. read more

So this place serves, you guessed it, Tex-Mex inspired Mexican fast food of the somewhat healthy variant. Walking into the store it was very clean, small, well lit yet held plenty of seating for the dine-in goers. Totally worth it with the shortest wait imaginable on a Tuesday Afternoon. I walked in here with the intention on satisfying my SoCal Chipotle taste however was feeling a little chilly. Chilly, chili, heat, a nice warm chili bowl! Hit the spot with some tortilla chips, a warm sauce and some protein. I was it was just as tasty in my mental image as it was in real life. The dish itself was bland, the chili soaking up on the bottom of the weakly enforced cardboard bottom with a lack of spice or kick. Other than the dish, the staff were very friendly and eager to help. They answered all my questions and even asked a few custom questions to improve my bowl! The environment was clean and inviting making me feel as though I owe this place another shot when I arrive back home. Just not to start with the Chili Bowl! read more

So much better than Chipotle. A must try. I go all the time now, for the grilled vegetable bowl. So many fresh unique toppings for vegetarians. I've never once been disappointed. The brown rice is always cooked properly. The place has the absolute HOTTEST habañero sauce you could ever imagine. I dare any experienced hot sauce lover to try it, mixed with their very hot jalapeños on the side. Your tongue will literally burn for 20 minutes and you will sweat through your scalp. And it's so flavorful too. Hottest fresh sauce I've ever had. It's hitter than Indian Vindaloo dishes. And all orders come with delicious chips that aren't oiley at all. The manager and servers are so nice and will abide by your requests. They are very sanitary and the place is immaculate. Great location too! read more

This place used to be one of my favorite places to go for healthy quick food but it's gone downhill. For $10, I get the aztec bowl mainly for the fact that it has avocado and they now only give you about 1/16th of one. I asked for hot sauce and the threw in another salsa. THE BEST PART? The "create your own tacos" option! I am not a big fan of fast food. And while I can certainly down my own box of fries in the blink of an eye, it's clear those burger fast food places are not the best option for my figure. That made Salsa Fresca a perfect alternative. I felt like I could choose from many healthy options. The wait staff was patient as I read through the posted menu. I decided to get the three tacos- one beef, one chicken, and one pulled pork. I worked my was down the line of toppings, and I was able to choose different toppings for each taco. The special mango salsa was delicious on the pulled pork taco. I added cheese, onions, and corn to the beef taco. The chicken taco received more veggies a touch of guacamole. I was disappointed to hear I'd be charged extra for guac. I get that it's a pricey food, but c'mon, doesn't everyone want some on their Mexican food? So just include it in the price, and I guess I would never know the difference! We added a side of chips and salsa and headed over to the eating area. This is a new restaurant, and I was pleased to see they had included a lot of outlets around the wall for people to charge their devices on. And, the tables even had hooks for your purse... a nice touch, though I clearly needed to bring a fancier purse! My meal was very good. It wasn't awesome, and it didn't knock my socks off, but it was tasty and fresh. I added some salsa and sour cream to my tacos, and my overall experience was quite good. I was glad I was able to order three different tacos- I wasn't bored eating a plate of the same food. And the tacos with the chips were all quite filling. It was a substantial lunch, for sure! So the next time you are shopping on Federal Road in Brookfield, Salsa Fresca is a decent option for lunch. read more

I love going here for lunch! Staff is very friendly and attebtive, sodas are by Boylan instead of the big brand although you can get coke in a glass bottle. Food always looks and tastes fresh. Stopped in because of the Yelp reviews. We're huge Mexican fans, so we had to try it. Found a new favorite after one visit. The space is clean, bright and industrial decorated with images of fresh ingredients from the menu. I love the contrast. We were greeted and helped quickly. Service was friendly and cheerful. Love that, too. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Quesadilla. My mate got the Red Hot Acapulco burrito. We added a side of guacamole to go with the complimentary chips and salsa. Great choices, all. Chicken was tender, buffalo sauce was hot enough to burn but the tasty ranch cooled it quickly. The burrito was hot as well, deep slow heat from the delicious sweet chipotle salsa and up front fire of the jalapeños. The guacamole is top tier, IMO. Unlike Chipotle and Moe's (both of which have their own places to shine) Salsa Fresca seems to have mastered the add ins to the avocado without overdoing it. 10/10 We also love that you can get just sliced avocado (for $1.25) on your food. Ok at first opening this review would have been a 5 star..love it here. However, if you have food issues like me, they have gotten terribly sloppy..they are happy to change their gloves but use the same lettuce that had "old glove hands" in it (defeats the purpose totally) I also have noticed cheese in the salsas this is just not ok. My husband loves it here but Im no longer able to go because Im afraid to get sick. I prefer Salsa Fresca to Chipotle but their better food handling practices and non-gmo options have forced me to drive all the way to the darn mall just to not get sick! (They will bring out fresh bins of what I order for you if you tell them you have allergies:) at Chipotle -without you having to ask them to!! The food is freshly made and it's not too salty nor does it leave you in a food coma after eating it like some of the other restaurants that are similar. I live in Wilton so my boyfriend and I frequent Qdoba in Norwalk and he lives in Brookfield so we sometimes trek to the mall for Chipotle, but never feel like it's worth it, so we were SO excited when Salsa Fresca opened. We went in with our $5 coupon from the News Times (thank you!) and immediately fell in love with the place. We loved the newness and freshness of the place and like the environmental friendly message that the company conveys. The "line" has a great selection and we I went with a "bowl" with half chicken/half rajas (peppers & onions). My boyfriend went with beef and we both had our bowls loaded with tons of fresh stuff including lettuce, pico de gallo, great guac, corn, salsa, jalapenos, rice and beans. We each also got a side of chips and salsa. We opted for fountain sodas (my fave) and they had this interesting brand (Boylan?) which was really delish. I stuck with diet and my boyfriend had the cherry and we really liked it. We met the owner, Mark who is super excited about being in the area and getting involved with the community. They have a great deal for students ($5 meals - I wish I was a student!) and it sounds like they'll be doing lots of promos all over the place. Salsa Fresca is EXACTLY what Federal Road needed and we can't wait until they come out with their "frequent flier" cards - because we will be frequent visitors for sure!! read more

New to Danbury. So glad I found Salsa Fresh right away! Everything has been delicious. The guacamole was perfectly seasoned, wonderful texture. I'd order it by the gallon! I don't usually order beef but I did and I'm glad! What flavor! I love to order a generous plenty for leftovers. I'm happy I did, because I was thrilled with the food for the next couple of meals.
