We had a larger group so service was very good considering. Mixed drinks were horrible. The mojito I ordered had no mint and no soda water. It tasted flat & syrupy. I could not drink. 2 ladies joined our party later and without knowing I'd sent mine back- sent back their top shelf margaritas as undrinkable. All to say- stick with beer if you want a drink ... or tequila straight! The dips are overpriced - $6.99 for a small portion. Queso was good- guac was mediocre. I did the combo - ordered taco with beef and mushroom quesadilla. Shrimp came on quesadilla but I didn't feel like returning (there was an upcharge for shrimp). Rice was not warm- more room temp leaning to cool. I thought food was okay. Nothing amazing. I didn't feel like driving to my usual Mexican spot so stopped here instead. I don't really see how this place stays in business. I've only been here a couple times and both times I was one of a few patrons. We were seated immediately by a soft spoken hostess. Food time: The chips were warm fried and the salsa tasted ok, although we added picante sauce. We both opted for the taco plate con carne asada. The meal presentation was neat and appetizing. The steak was not really seasoned and was very gristly. The asada sauce was missing something and was not spicy at all. The rice and beans tasted pretty generic, with no added flavor. Picante was my friend on this visit. Although the food was just ok, the service was good. We had a very attentive server that asked what we needed just enough. I doubt I'll head back here unless it was for a happy hour or something. read more

Somehow, the wife and I were destined to try this Mexican restaurant out. Based on its overall 2.9 Yelp review, we had no desire to risk our money on eating there. While we researched numerous Mexican eateries, it came down to convenience being it was within walking distance across from our hotel. We entered with apprehension hoping our dining experience would not be a disaster. Ambience was very good. Greeted by a nice host, he seated us right away. Our server Crystal arrived, and gave us our menus. Warm Tortilla chips with salsa (plus white cheese dip) and drinks were brought to the table. Wife got the Tacos de Carne Asadas, which came with diced onions and cilantro in separate cups. It also came with rice and refried beans. I ordered the grilled chicken quesadilla, with rice and black beans a la carte. Food came in a timely manner. First bite of my food already had me thinking that a lot of these reviewers got it wrong. The food was very delicious and scrumptious. Everything was well seasoned and had excellent taste. Wifey really enjoyed her meal; I loved mine. We topped it off with a flan drizzled with chocolate. Everything about our dining experience was great, including the exceptional service. Meal was a little pricier than usual, but worth paying for. If I lived in Aiken, I would be eating here often. So, if you desire great Mexican cuisine, I highly recommend Salsa's Bar & Grill. Damn the naysayers. read more

Salsa's is a restaurant I 100% recommend. Our waiter. Eric, was efficient, funny, and great at customer service. There was a decent selection of alcoholic drinks. We had beer on tap and red wine. The fajitas and burritos couldn't have been any better. For as much food and drinks as we had, the price was very reasonable. I only write reviews if I feel the place is outstanding. There's a bunch of Mexican joints scattered all over Aiken, SC... and i stumbled upon this area because of the location close to the hotel. So it's a typical Mexican restaurant serving mostly to a gringo's tastebuds, but with a lot of authentic selections. Depending if you get a good waiter, you should have a good time. So i'm keeping this short.: Pros: tableside guacamole coronaritas fajitas are delicious nice atmosphere No real cons, but the waiter was a little cold, we had to keep asking for chips to go with nachos, he didn't really know the menu. The sopa de tortilla was my favorite- flavorful and a little spicy! The salad was good, but not as memorable. We came on taco night, which is what my friends ordered. Food was ok..nothing great. Had a huge communication issue with waiter. I asked question about a dish and he didn't know the answer. He said he couldn't ask cooks because they don't speak English. He brought another guy to our table that spoke minimal English. Margarita machine was broken. A group of 5 were there and acted like the place was reserved for them. Visited Aiken to check out the antique stores and Dillards. After Dillard's we were hungry so we stopped here for a bite to eat. We both ordered the fish tacos, which comes with three tacos, beans and rice. I ordered the black beans my date ordered the refried beans. I've never been to a Mexican restaurant that offered BOTH salsa and chips and queso with beans for FREE. Usually, you have to pay for the queso. Anyway, he began eating the queso/beans mixture. I only had the salsa. By the time he'd dipped his third chip, I noticed what looked like beef in the queso/beans so I told him that I think there's beef in that mixture. (We do not eat beef). Sure enough, when the waiter came back to take our order, he confirmed that there was beef in them there beans. The fish tacos were okay. If they had not added the cilantro to the top of them, they would have been grand for me. The cilantro gave them a bitter after taste so I had to spend a little time removing the pieces from the rest of my tacos. Had I known, I would have requested no cilantro as I did with the tomatoes. Anyway, the tacos were pretty good after I removed the cilantro. The wait service was okay, could have been better. We were almost about to put an APB out for the waiter when we were ready for our check, but the showed up just as I was rising out of my seat to go find him. read more

I have been here many times. Today, I went to pick up a simple to go order. I notice an additional 'to go' charge on the bill. I asked why they charged more money to go than to dine in? The server had no idea. No manager around to ask. It's kind of like going through the drive through at McDonalds and having them charge a take out fee. I'm lucky they did not charge me for parking. Funny, I didn't charge them for my gas to go pick up the food. Last time in, order was all screwed up. but that can happen anywhere, so I didn't get upset. This 'to go' fee is just bad business. If you really feel you need to recoup some change for the to go box, add another 30 cents on to the menu price and nobody would ever complain. There's ways to do things. I will find another Mexican place in town. There are plenty. So, in closing, for 50 cents, you lost a customer. Good business plan! Try Maria's on Pine Log, Tequila's by the hospital, or Margarita's downtown. read more

Absolutely horrible service and food was even worse! Waited 20 minutes for drinks ( tea). We were told it was because they ran out of glasses. I'm not sure how with only about 25 people in the restaurant. The cheese dip was less than luke warm. We sent that back to be brought a bowl that was the consistency of milk. The table next to us asked about their food and was told the kitchen had forgotten to cook it. The guy waiting on a carry out (for 40 minutes) came back with his food in hand. He was given the wrong order. It was been about 40 minutes for our food now and we haven't seen our waitress since she brought our one glass of tea 30 minutes ago! Lesson learned! read more

Food is Ok, but a bit pricey for the quality. Service is horrible. I ordered their signature fajita. The order was set on the table with about three mouth fulls of rice. I assumed it was a mistake, and asked the waiter for a little more. He said no. Dumbfounded, I asked why, and he said that's what you get. I pointed at the little pile and he shrugged his shoulders. I asked for a manager, and he said he was it. So, I said, "OK, fine, but I warn you that this poor service will keep us from coming in again". He walked away. Soon after, the "real" manager same up to the table. I explained the same. He sighed, and said that's what we give, but if you really want more, I will give you more. It's not like I was asking for more shrimp, or steak or what ever. It's not like I got a budget meal and wanted a better deal. I bought their signature, top of the line meal and merely wanted more than three teaspoons of rice. Then I received nothing but poor service. So, we paid our $50 for two people for food and drinks and left. And will not be returning-- All over a few pennies worth of rice. Stupid. We eat out a LOT. read more

Absolutely the worst food! Never ever again!!! Ordered two of their 'to go' combo taco dinners (menu said 7.50 for 2 tacos n rice n beans) then we changed it to flour tortillas instead of corn. (Usually no big deal, right?) Received the food. Got home and It was plain hamburger meat, two pieces of lettuce and some funky tasting cheese. The rice n beans were orange and blan!! It was awful!! And It costs $27.70! Are you kidding me? I called to speak to manager and not only did I get put on hold for 5 minutes never to hear from them again, But i called back and it took 3 times to talk to anyone. Finally explained to the manager and he says flour tortillas are 50 extra each and cheese was extra as well. I complained nicely how non tasting it was and i come there often never to have it cost so much or to have it tastes so badly i threw it away. They never said I'm sorry, let me replace your meal nothing! Never will go again! Advise you to another Mexican restaurant! This one is rated lowest!!! Dont go! Much better at diablos! read more

This Mex-Mex, not Tex-Mex. For the CSRA I do not think you will find better Mexican food. Prices are not high for the quality. They have a regular lunch menu, but check out the daily blackboard specials. Great appetizers, especially the ceviche. Shrimp cocktail, seafood burrito, and their authentic tamales are some of favorites. I eat there at least twice a week and have never noticed a service issue. read more

Visited this restaurant one afternoon after running errands. Hostess was prompt and professional, and our server was attentive. This restaurant provides a free cup of queso/beans/meat, as well as chips and salsa. I don't eat beef, so I requested a lone cup of queso. Server did not notify it was a $4 charge! I would've declined otherwise. Ordered my 'pick two' meal and the server asked if I wanted a lunch or dinner portion. Asked for dinner so I could have leftovers (I typically don't eat a full dinner portion at Mexican restaurants, but will gladly pay more to have leftovers). Received my meal, and it was tiny! When the server appeared again I asked the difference in the lunch and dinner portion. Basically said there was no difference, just the patron request. I asked why 'dinner' portion was even offered at 2pm if there was no difference in portion size, and the server just shrugged their shoulders and walked away. My husband and I looked at each other bewildered. When they finally appeared again, I asked if they could change it to lunch, and they said 'no, I already entered it.' Really? The order couldn't be cancelled and re-entered? It's a computer. Everything can be reversed or cancelled. I think what was so upsetting was the lack of communication (or empathy) from server to customer. I should've been told upfront about the $4 charge for 'free' queso and the unnecessary 'dinner' charge at 2pm when it was clearly the same size as lunch portion. Brought the family tonight. There was only 7 of us this time. We have visited this restaurant on numerous occasions but this time was quite disappointing. In the beginning the server started out very attentive. She took our order and delivered drinks and chips very quickly. However as our meal came out only half the meals were served. She said they were finishing up the other meals in the kitchen . Over 10 minutes goes by before we get the remaining meals then she says she will bring the wraps for my fajitas. At that time I order my second margarita. It is another 10 minutes before that margarita is delivered to the table. When she delivers my margarita she fills the other glasses that have been emptywith water and then she disappears and we do not see her again in the restaurant at all until we are waiting for the check. Spicy food and no water makes for unhappy customers She never came back to the table to check on us or to ask us how everything was ,she never brought my fajita wraps. When she did return to the table and brought us our check she was back in a flash to get the payment. Normally the fajitas are quite appetizing but this time the whole plate was extremely salty and unappetizing. On a second note when I first entered the restaurant I've visited the men's room. There was no hand soap in the dispensers. I advised the employee behind the bar about no soap for me to wash my hands properly. He said thank you and he take care of it . Fast-forward one and a half hours when we're leaving I figured I check the bathroom to see if the soap was in there. Still no soap. I sure hope the servers have another place to wash hands. Again highly disappointed in the service or lack there of, The excessive salty food and the failure to comply with osha regulations. read more
