This is a very delayed review but I have to gush about how amazing Salsita Tacos was catering my 150 person wedding in September. Dezare was extremely communicative and helpful throughout the entire process (which is huge for a wedding) and most importantly the food was DELICIOUS! We had a buffet set up and we still have people gushing over how the food was some of the best wedding food they've had. Who wants bland overcooked steak when you can have delicious tacos. Wow! Top notch business. We had a 150 person event at the church and Dezare and her crew were nothing short of amazing. Communication was quick through text and email. Every detail is included in their service, so we did not have to worry about anything the day of. As a matter of fact, the crew even arrived earlier than us stating that "they like to go in early to ensure that everything runs smoothly." Amazing! My friend had Salsita's catered for a party and they were pretty good! The Agua frescas were light and refreshing, but maybe needed a little less water. I'm a vegetarian, so I ate rice and bean tacos. I wasn't sure if the rice had chicken broth or if the beans had lard, but I didn't get an upset stomach. (Usually a tell tell sign) They had plenty of toppings on the bar, and the green salsa was good. Service wasn't anything over the top friendly or underwhelming, they were just doing their job and maybe a little stressed considering there were only two guys. Had a backyard birthday party of about 100 for my hubby and I'm so glad we went this direction . I still kept busy with other details of a party but the food was delicious and handled . I love how professional they were. They came set up prepped and cooked everything onsite , so organized you can tell it is not their first time . I ordered the street dogs as an add on and maybe should have ordered more as they were a hot ticket item adults and kids loved them . Packaged everything up when done serving amazing . My school had the absolute pleasure of being catered by this amazing taco vendor today. Wishing I had more of it! I was so impressed, I immediately looked them up on Instagram and was thrilled (and a little bummed!) to find out they're based in San Jose, where I live! The sad part? They only do catering. Seriously, if they had a storefront, I'd be a regular, no question. I devoured both the chicken tacos and the carne asada tacos, and both were unbelievably delicious. The meat was flavorful and perfectly cooked. They also had some fantastic toppings and their fresh salsa and green sauce were out of this world, so flavorful and just the right amount of kick. & let's not forget the Mexican rice! It was so good, not dry at all, and seasoned perfectly. Honestly, this was a 5-star taco experience through and through. If you ever have the chance to book them for catering, DO IT! I hired this company for a birthday celebration, and there were definitely some positives as well as some frustrations. Communication leading up to the event was great- pricing was clearly discussed, and they were helpful in recommending the right chicken-to-vegetarian ratio based on the number of vegetarian guests attending. Food-wise, the quesadillas were a hit with guests, although the chicken was unfortunately very dry, even with the salsas. My main frustration came on the day of the event when the owner requested an additional $70 because my parents' backyard has some steps. While the contract mentioned a stair fee and that steps are steps, it was NOT clear that this would apply even when the setup was essentially on ground level and the team did not need to walk up or down actual flights of stairs. What made this more frustrating was the lack of explanation about why advance notice of knowing there are steps would have mattered. The owner mentioned that the equipment was heavy, but there was NO indication that additional staff, equipment, or accommodations would have been needed had there been some steps. From a customer perspective, it felt like nothing about the setup or service would have changed had we mentioned the steps beforehand, so the extra charge felt DIFFICULT to justify. I highly recommend adding some verbiage to the contract regarding the justification and that despite being on ground level, these charges will STILL apply. Additionally, the onsite team was not particularly friendly, and when my mom asked for clarification, she did not receive a clear explanation. Given that this was for my birthday celebration, it was especially disappointing that the owner was not more flexible, particularly after I had brought a large amount of business to the company and it wasn't cheap. I was deciding between this company and another company, which also had good reviews and slightly lower pricing, but I chose to go with Salsita because of previous reviews. Several guests who learned about the situation also felt the additional charge was unnecessary and not properly justified, including some who had previously used this company themselves. Overall, while communication before booking was strong and some food items were enjoyable, the unexpected fee, lack of empathy and priority on customer satisfaction, and overall handling of the situation left a disappointing impression. It felt like the owner just wanted to get more money from us. Because of this experience, I likely would not recommend this company to additional family or friends. However, if you do decide to book with them, I would strongly recommend clarifying their stair policy in detail beforehand so there are no unexpected charges or misunderstandings on the day of your event. read more
