My husband took me here to celebrate my birthday. This is one of the fanciest restaurants in the northern neck area. We got the reservation at 8:45 pm (slightly late for our liking as we like early dinner), as the restaurant hosted a mahjong dinner event in the evening. The host was very friendly and gave us good recommendations as we waited to be seated. Ambiance is very nice. We had been here before when it was a different restaurant. It's beautiful during the daylight as they have nice water views. Food was great. We ordered crab cakes on coconut sauce for the appetizer. It was once of the best I have had. I am definitely going to try crab cakes with coconut ginger sauce again. For entrees, my husband has the beef tenderloin and I had the beef short rib with risotto. So delicious. Short rib was very tender and the risotto was very creamy and flavorful. For the dessert, we had peach crips with vanilla ice cream. Presentation and the taste was amazing. Overall, a great experience. The only reason I gave them a 4 star is because of the pricing.

Salt & Meadow was such a great experience! The food was delicious, especially the house-made linguini. Shayne at the bar was amazing!! So friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back!

We had a great, laid-back experience at Salt & Meadow while visiting the Tides for an anniversary trip. The staff were friendly and very flexible, the food was tasty, large portions, and reasonably priced (considering it is a resort restaurant). For those concerned about price, I'd say there are more than a few value options and small plates like the cocktail shrimp. We ordered the catch of the day (halibut) and duck which were very high-quality. Buttered rolls were also dank - No notes for the chef! Our favorite things about the restaurant were: 1) The finishes - all the furniture is thoughtfully curated with beautiful wood pieces throughout. The prohibition era lockers when you enter are so cool. 2) The lighting/ambiance was perfect for a date night and the music was chill 3) The wine station in the middle of the dining room was unique and refills were immediate. Staff suggestions were great without pushing us to order more expensive wines Only suggestion is that it was cold AF in there... usually NBD but we were ready to get out of there! Would have probably stayed longer if it wasn't freezing Overall would recommend to stop by especially if you are staying at the resort!

Service was great. Views were amazing. Crab cake, octopus and rock fish amazing. Halibut and filet very good. Ordered filet med rare and it came medium well. Other than that all was very good and highly recommend.

My husband and I ate at Salt and Meadow for dinner and breakfast during our stay at the Tides Inn this week. The service was fantastic and the food was good! For dinner I had the catch of the "bay" and my husband had the Halibut. Both were portioned fairly and prepared perfectly. We had the tuna tartare for our appetizer and since we were celebrating a special occasion (noted when we made dinner reservations) we had a glass of sparkling wine brought to our table. For dessert we split the lemon curd and I had a cup of fantastic coffee while my husband finished his old fashioned (which was perfectly made). For breakfast I had the egg white., shrimp and mushroom omelet with a cappuccino and my husband had the French toast. Both were very yummy! The restaurant itself is beautiful and the staff were all very polite! We have been very fortunate to dine at nice establishments around the world and this one makes the list! Thank you Salt & Meadow and Tides Inn for a great experience!

Chef Kyle has developed an amazing new menu for the renovated Chesapeake room. He has brought new and exciting items to the table. Breakfast included new Benedict's, breakfast burrito and blue corn grits. The crab BLTA sandwich was delicately baked and perfectly seasoned. Dinner had new stars of basil linguine with shrimp, duck, lamb chops and shrimp and chorizo with the blue grits. My only complaint is that we didn't stay long enough to enjoy every entree! Absolutely delightful!! We are looking forward to returning to enjoy all the renovations

Truly exceptional experience. Best juicy burger like mama makes.. delicious flavor, must be local beef.. I poached my husband's burger while I had fresh soft shell sandwich with Obay fries, hot and crisp.. so stuffed,, wished I had room for their tasty desserts.. look so good.. worth the trip and a very beautiful view, amazing sunset on water. Special place to take family and or love one.

The band was playing inside and we decided to sit outside for several reasons. First being the lively view from the porch of the vineyard. Second being the lively weather while sitting on the porch. Third being the general ambiance of being on the porch with the weather and the view. Even with a light sprinkling of rain, it was lovely to hear the pitter patter above while sipping wine. I did a tasting flight that they normally don't offer on Friday nights but since they were busy they offered it. The bartenders were really great. Genuinely kind, funny, and informative. You could tell that they enjoy their jobs. The wine was enjoyable and always fun to do a flight to get a good variety.

They don't have food but they do have some small snack options. We ended up grabbing some cheese and crackers and it was a perfect pair. The wines themselves were all fantastic. I'm more of a dry wine person but they definitely had options for sweeter wines as well. They had a large wine list and truly something for everyone. It was such a cute little spot.

What a great decision! When you walk in, you immediately notice that all of the wines are beautifully displayed -- it doubles as a wine shop, which gives it such a warm and welcoming vibe. It feels cozy but elevated at the same time. They don't offer flights for groups larger than five, but we were able to order one dealer's choice flight based on our preferred flavor profiles. From there, we could select a bottle inspired by the flight. A few of us gravitated toward reds. Our waitress was incredibly knowledgeable -- we told her the flavor profiles we liked, and she brought out three reds to try. The Wade & Wayfarer Pinot Noir was our favorite (so good!), though a bit pricier. We also tried the Alkoorai Cab/Merlot blend, which ended up being our least favorite. Ultimately, we chose the Denner Nightshade GSM -- excellent pick. Bonus tip: if you purchase a bottle $50 or more, there's no corkage fee; under $50, there is. Our waitress also mentioned that South American Merlots are the best Merlots as we all mentioned Merlot tends to be more dry. A few in our group ordered the Masterpiece Theatre cocktail on our waitress's recommendation -- she did not steer us wrong! Food-wise, everything was a hit. Our friends ordered the Cacio e Pepe burrata, pickled shrimp, Caesar salad, mushroom and leek flatbread, and the Brie and pear flatbread (both flatbreads were huge!). They loved every dish. My husband and I shared the bread with olive oil (simple and delicious), the charred octopus (tender with amazing flavor), gnocchi Bolognese, and lamb chops. Everything was fantastic -- the only small note was that the lamb could've been a bit more rare -- but still very flavorful. By the end of the night, all six of us agreed we'd absolutely be back. We're even looking into their wine club -- $60/month for two bottles (pickup required at the shop), which honestly sounds like a great deal. Apparently, they change up their wine flights weekly, which makes it even more fun and gives us a reason to return. Such a great experience all around -- can't wait to go back and try more wines!

As soon we entered we were greeted with warm, genuine smiles from owner Shawn Pickett and Sarah the beer/wine slinger and oyster roaster extraordinaire. Rustic tables and local art adorn the walls of this authentic Virginia tavern. All the food prep is done out in the open - and owner Shawn shucked oysters to order - not a minute earlier than necessary. Sarah offered to serve batches of three oysters at a time so we could try four of their most popular treatments in a dozen oysters: Urbanna Rocks, Waterview Herbs, Port Royal, and Fredericksburg Artillery. Every treatment was unique and delicious- without overpowering the taste of the FRESH LOCAL OYSTERS. After we made quick work of the first dozen, we zoned in on a dozen more of our favorites - the Port Royal (Olive Oil, Thyme, Lemon, Parmesan, and Breadcrumbs) and split a Lansdowne sammich (Ham, Brie, Fig Jam, and Greens on Pressed Sourdough). I'm a HUGE fan of a glass of fruity Sangria on a hot day! The fact that it was Happy Hour with $5 glasses made it even easier to draw me inside!! When I explained this was my first visit, they explained the Curio concept, the various areas for sitting, sipping and gathering as well as the Curio Card process. They even had a small but really intriguing menu of various snacks, from charcuterie to flatbread and even dessert. The menu changes a couple times a month, making me want to plan more visits! The staff offered me sips of each so I could decide on a Sangria flavor. Despite not being a Moscato fan, I chose the Moscato Mule Sangria. It was light, refreshing and had the Moscow Mule flavors with the added sweetness of Moscato wine. I wandered into the cellar to explore more wine offerings and wound up running into fellow educators and their friends I had never met. We chatted like we were catching up and laughed about shared birthdays and teaching!! They invited me to hang with them, but I had to get home for Dog Mom Duty. We exchanged numbers so we could plan another "run-in" downtown SOON! If you haven't visited Curio, I HIGHLY recommend it. Bring a friend, or plan on making a few.
