Spain Wine Bar certainly lived up to the hype. I've been dying to try it after hearing rave reviews, and it did not disappoint. The space itself is massive, and beautifully and intentionally designed. It's on the top floor of the hotel with a really stunning interior. We had a 9:00 PM reservation on a Saturday night. I highly recommend making a reservation in advance because this place was insanely crowded. Despite how busy it was, we were seated promptly right at the time of our reservation. The food and drinks were outstanding across the board. The steak was cooked perfectly and the Patatas Bravas were a favorite of mine. The cocktails and mocktails were excellent--the house Negroni was one of the best I've had. One thing worth noting: this is definitely a lively and loud space. Great for groups, celebrations, or an upbeat dinner night, but maybe not the best choice if you're looking for a quiet or intimate evening. Lastly, the staff were all incredibly warm, kind, quick, and hospitable. Even with how packed the restaurant was, service didn't feel chaotic or inattentive. Came into the Spain Wine bar to celebrate my boyfriend and I's anniversary which was on a Saturday. It was off season and I was so surprised to see the massive crowd waiting for tables outside the entrance of the restaurant. This restaurant is located on the top of the Cambria hotel. I heard it was popular, but even with a reservation we had to wait over 25 minutes to be sat at our table. And our table was a high top right in the bar area which was a little disappointing. It was up against a window that I'm sure would have given us an amazing view but it was already so dark outside. The interior of the restaurant was also extremely dim. Because of where we were sat it was extremely loud and I felt a little stuffed into the seat since there was a party of 5 directly behind me sitting. The menu is expansive. We obviously celebrated with a bottle of wine and our server Nina (I think that was her name) was very attentive and always made sure our glasses were filled. The bread was delicious and we decided on a couple tapas. It was hard to eat just because the table was tiny. The food was beautifully presented and came out staggered which was nice. The steak was great, the calamari was very standard. And the crab fritters tasted like a lot of filler.. our favorite was the mushroom and scallop risotto. I'm not a scallop girl but the risotto was cooked beautifully and had such a savory unique buttery flavor that I'm still thinking about! I'd come here again but 10000% please make a reservation!! Five of us went to celebrate a 91st birthday in the family! We had a reservation but seating was delayed by quite a bit. When we did get seated we were put at a table where we were pretty squished together elbow to elbow. Robbie, their manager, came over and spoke to my husband and myself was extremely professional and a great problem solver. He asked our waiter, Abdullah, to get us our drinks and he set up another table for us. Then he comped us charcuterie board for our troubles! He was wonderful and took care of us all. Even bringing out a champagne toast for the 91-year-old! Abdullah was a great waiter and saw to our every need. Both Robbie and Abdullah made a big deal over our birthday girl and she was thrilled. I would have given this review 5 stars if solely based on the food however needed to knock it down a few points for the service. We had a 7pm resy for 10 girls for a bachelorette party and were seated about 10 minutes late which was fine however after we sat it took another 30 mins for them to even bring us water or the two pitchers of sangria we had ordered immediately. We ordered a bunch of the tapas to split and the largest size paella. Since other people were bringing the food to our table though it felt like our waitress barely ever came back to check on us. When we were all finished the waitress brought the check over, we paid and then they brought out a dessert and a glass of champagne to celebrate our bride, a cute touch but I thought was funny that they dropped off 10 small plates assuming we were going to cut pieces of the tiny cake the gave us (enough for about a spoonful for each of us lol). This is when the service got troublesome. As our bride was finishing up her dessert the waitress comes back and tells us she forgot to add a few drinks we ordered to the bill (which again, we had already paid). However when she tells us this, she did not have a corrected bill with her, she walks away and says she'll be back. So now we're all finished and just waiting for her to come back. You'd think since it was her mistake for leaving the drinks off the bill she would either have the corrected bill ready for us when she told us or just comp the drinks since we already paid and we're getting ready to leave. Our waitress was nowhere in sight and we did not want to wait any longer so we left money on the table and left. On our way out the waitress saw us and said "oh don't worry about those drinks" to which we told her there was money on the table but overall just an odd situation. As for the food. Genuinely everything was delicious. The tapas style was fun although a little hard to split with such a large group but I did get to taste most of what we ordered. Would highly recommend the mussels, the shrimp balls, and the beef empanadas although I don't think you could go wrong with anything. And the paella was very very good. read more

I love trying a variety of dishes, so tapas are always a favorite of mine, and this place absolutely delivered, meeting every imaginable expectation. The food was delicious, our server Milos was friendly and attentive throughout, and the dining area was beautiful, offering an incredible rooftop view of Isle of Wight Bay. We started with the crispy calamari served with a smoky chipotle aioli and a perfectly cooked flank steak complemented by a flavorful green chimichurri. Next, we tried the beef sliders, BBQ pork ribs, and butter lobster risotto. The sliders were juicy and packed with flavor, topped with Mahon cheese, tomato, caramelized onion, arugula, and garlic aioli. The ribs were coated in a rich chipotle BBQ sauce and practically melted in our mouths, while the risotto was creamy and indulgent, with generous chunks of fresh lobster. For our main, the "Large Experience," we split the Valencia, a Spanish paella featuring New York strip steak, chorizo, sausage, chicken, green beans, chickpeas, and garlic aioli. Easily the best paella I've ever had. For dessert, we shared the pistachio lava cake and olive oil cake. We sat outdoors and it was windy and chilly. She noticed I was cold and offered me a blanket. We definitely ordered too much food for two people, but they have so many things on their menu that I wanted to try! Ended up taking some paella to go. My only complaint is that even though we made a reservation and we showed up on time for it, we still had to sit in the crowded lobby and wait maybe 30min extra. Nobody called us and we had to go up to the hostess to check on our status and it was only then that they finally said there's a table for us. Paul from Romania (Amazing), he took us through the whole experience, explaining the menu, explaining how the kitchen works, making suggestion about the drink menu. Stayed overnight at the hotel this restaurant is in so figured why don't we try it. Made reservations earlier in the day for 7:30. Got there a little before 7:30 and waited a little to be seated. Ordered lamb bolognese, duck breast, winter salad, meatballs and lump crab fritter things. The winter salad actually never came but the staff was very apologetic and comped us a dessert (we got the olive oil cake). Lamb bolognese and duck were both good, cooked well and good flavor. The meatballs (albondiagas) we did not like, they were dry and very forward in a spice we couldn't identify. Crab things were fine but I could do without them. My husband and I made a visit to Spain during a new year's trip to OC. They give directions on parking, but it can still be a little confusing when it's dark. The restaurant is in the Cambria hotel before ocean gateway, and you take the elevator to the 8th floor. We had a reservation and were seated about 10 minutes later. The waiting area was absolutely packed, as was the indoor and outdoor dining areas. We had Lourdes as our waitress, and she was absolutely fantastic. She was super friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive! I'm a huge fan of Del Mar in DC so I was excited to see how Spain compares. Spain is fantastic for the OC area, and you wouldn't necessarily expect such good tapas in the area. For those more familiar with tapas, it's very good some dishes better than others but not the best I've ever had. The service and drinks also made it an amazing experience. We sat in the outdoor rooftop area, luckily under heating lamps but some people weren't and requested to be moved indoors. For dinner, we ordered the flank steak, gambas, tuna tartare, mussels with chorizo, croquettes, and patatas bravas. The steak was done medium, and was quite tender with chimichurri on top. This is a good portion for 2-3 if you're doing a bunch of tapas or other items. The mussels were very good and it came with diced chorizo (not ground). It was fantastic and good with the bread. It definitely could have used maybe some diced onion or a little more herbs. The tuna was absolutely fantastic, and could serve 3-4. It came with avocado and cucumber which added a perfect crunch. I'd have loved if the crackers were plain or another flavor besides everything bagel seasoned, but my husband loved it. The tuna tasted fresh too. The gambas / shrimp were good, it came with about 6-7 pieces that were medium sized. It wasn't very hot when it came out, just a little warm. The chilis and garlic added the perfect spice and flavor to the oil, which is the best with the bread! The patatas bravas were in a huge dish, double other tapas places. It did have a little more mayo and sauce than needed, but super good and crispy. Lastly, the croquettes were amazing. I forgot to order them upfront and I'm glad I remembered to add them later! They were perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Came dusted with paprika. They were probably tied as a top dish if I could give ties lol. They have a great drink and wine selection, the food comes out quick, 2-20 minutes depending on the item. My husband and I ranked our tapas by favorites: tuna, mussels, croquettes, shrimp, steak, patatas. (He liked the mussels more than the shrimp, but I liked the shrimp more!). The pricing is a little higher, but it's also a nicer spot in the OC, so it's as expected. We will definitely be back next time we're in OC! So good! read more

I don't even know where to begin with Spain wine bar. This place blew all my tapas expectations out of the water. I don't think I have ever been to a better one. To start, we were gifted a last minute date night from the grandparents. I called to see how long a wait would be for a walk in and the hostess very happily squeezed us in for a reservation even thought they were booked online. We drove to the hotel and they only have about 15 parking spots. I thought, this will be a tiny restaurant with only this much parking. Wrong. We found a park mobile spot about 2 blocks away and it was nice to walk after eating the way we did. When you walk in, they give you the feel of a small Spanish wine cellar. The bar is trendy, all the wine vibes, and breezy from the open air windows. Then they walk you to the back and you are truly transported to Europe. It was magical. Almost like a Disney restaurant where you don't feel like you are anywhere that you actually are. Once we sat down, we ordered probably about half the menu. I couldn't even get pictures of everything and I don't even know how to advise you because literally everything was that good. The cocktails were on point, the food was phenomenal, and the service was outstanding. Our table was never crowded with plates, the waitress was quick to refill drinks and make sure we were attended to, but never bothered us too much. Some of the must order items for next time are the tuna crudo, the short rib poutine, and the bacon wrapped dates. I felt like somebody feed Phil because the dates actually made me dance. Even the free bread was probably some of the better bread I've had at restaurants! This is one of my new ocean city favorites. We had reservations for dinner at Spain Wine Bar and it was a fabulous dinner experience. It's a Spanish tapas bar on the roof of Hotel Cambria overlooking the bay, so the ambiance is quite upscale and classy. We ordered about 6 different tapas and the small Valencia paella for our party of four that it was plenty of food and we had leftovers. We tried the lollipop chicken, mahi mahi, shrimp, croquettes, beef sliders, and calamari. All dishes were delicious and tasty. We even finished dinner off with the coconut cream flan for dessert, which was a delicious ending to our meals. So beautiful located on the eighth floor of the Cambria hotel in O.C. with beautifully draped white wisteria and roof that opens up. I felt like I was in a real life fairytale! I was in town for a conference recently and decided to check this place out based on the great reviews. I love a good tapas place because the portions are better suited for my appetite. As others mentioned, parking is a bit of a challenge, but since it was the off-season for me it was easier. The view is beautiful, so make sure you get a table with a view. My server came around quickly - I was torn between the steak and the lamb, so the server recommended the steak. I also ordered the baby carrots so I'd have a veggie on the side. I regretted my order almost immediately. The flank steak was very tough, although the chimichurri sauce was tasty, it couldn't make up for how chewy the meat was. And the poor, poor carrots! They were simply drowning in some kind of mayonnaise sauce! I couldn't even eat them. I ended up taking them back to the hotel and rinsing them off to see if I could salvage them -- but no. It was so bad I had to go to eat at another restaurant because I was still hungry. And this was the most expensive meal I paid for on my entire trip. Overall, pretty disappointing. Well we hit a home run when we got Lourdes M as our server. She was excellent in explaining the menu. While we have dined here before, it had been some time. Well we were too busy enjoying the food so no pictures. But let me tell what we found delicious. First El Bandarra aperitif's were in order. Then on to a personal favorite of beet salad. They do it wonderfully. Then we had tapas sliders perfect, mixed mushrooms roasted, Lump Crab fritters very tasty and lollipop chicken the flavorings were amazing. Spain bar needs to have MORE bartenders. It took 30 minutes to close out our bill. It "appears" that Spain bar has lots of people running food but not actively picking up plates, I stacked plates numerous times and had to ask runners to help me more than once. So there is a training issue on the runners - they should run the food - which again the food and the location are the only reasons we would come back - I would try to schedule a time that was slower??? We sat next to a table to 20 (that's right) 20 people which impacted our ability to enjoy our meal. They were over crowded and we couldn't move either. Last the chairs are the most uncomfortable chairs I have ever sat in at a restaurant. Making lots of money, I'm sure but there is major room for improvement. This would be my third time here, each has been a great experience! You cannot beat the ambience, the sunset view and the beautiful patio. There's an indoor/outdoor section. The patio is also heated and has an insulating clear cover for when it gets windy. They also offer blankets! They have thought of everything :) To get to the location, you have to park at the hotel it's located in, then take the elevator to the top floor. The waiting area is often heavily congested. If you have a large party, it might be a tight squeeze at prime dinner time. Food is Delicious. Also always presented well, tapas style. Greats for sharing with large groups or even just a a small date. Their largest meal size is probably the paella. They often have multiple options and I've enjoyed every one I've tried. It's good to note that it'll take 20-30 minutes after ordering to prepare. I would have an idea what you would like to try and order at the same time as your drinks to get it in a timely manner as service is rather slow. Following the previous statement... service is SLOOOWW. I had come with a friend to celebrate her birthday and although we didn't order much, our visit lasted almost 3 hours due to long wait times for food, drinks etc. my previous visit, we were even gifted a charcuterie board as an apology for slow service. It's a shame this hasn't seem to improved after a couple months. Regardless, our server did as well as she could and we enjoyed our visit. MAKE RESERVATIONS, especially during peak times. The food was fresh and inventive. The service was excellent. The ambiance was upscale casual. The acoustics are horrible. The main dining room is very loud. The view is amazing if you are at an outside table. The only complaint I have is the parking. It is very limited. It does not appear that the restaurant monitors the parking spots. Excellent service and wonderful ambiance! Mirjana was an excellent server. My sister, a cancer survivor, is limited in what and how much she can eat and she was very well accommodated! What she could not finish they packed up to take home! Her maple roasted sweet potatoes and patatas bravas hit the spot with her. She raved about butternut squash soup. I had a taste and she was correct! Nom! Nom! Nom! My beet salad was delicious as were the lamb chops. We will be back! Family coming to visit and I'll bring them! read more

The food was good, though very expensive. We went with a pretty large group (10 people) and each couple ordered about 3-4 small plates and drinks. The food is served as it becomes ready (not all at once). However, interestingly, some of us waited much longer for the same exact meal than others at our table, which was strange and a bit awkward. That and the beef empanadas (which were not impressive compared to everything else) are the sole reason for the 4 stars instead of five.
