Niman Ranch Lamb Tartare! Sooo good!!

I can see why Urban Hill's Executive Chef Nick Zocco was a two-time James Beard Award semi-finalist and winner of Food Network's Beat Bobby Flay in 2025!!! My dinner here was AMAZING!!!! Without reservations, my coworker and I were able to sit at the bar right away although the restaurant was popping for a Monday night! Everything we had was DELICIOUS!!! The lamb tartare in harissa sauce intrigued me because come on, you never see lamb tartare; it is always beef tartare! It was so good and the grapefruit added a nice citrusy note to the dish! It paired perfectly with the potato chips. I saw several people at the bar with the Golden Eagle Black Cod dish so I felt reassured that I made a good choice and me oh my, did I!!! The cod melted in my mouth yet had a nice crispness to the skin! I devoured the whole dish and scraped off all the gochujang glaze too! For dessert, they were out of Lemon Blueberry Bliss which was my first choice. We got the Pistachio Entremet and for the pistachio lovers out there, this is your dessert!!! It has pistachio everything!! ;) Our bartender/server had great energy and customer service as well as the hosts! I left feeling so satisfied and blissfully full with the amazing meal! Kudos to the team at Urban Hill!!!! One quick side note: I appreciate how the restrooms had individually packaged floss picks! A nice touch indeed! ;)

First time in Salt Lake City and wanted to eat at this well known restaurant. The atmosphere is beautiful and elegant with staff paying attention to every detail. Our server was great and attentive. We ended up ordering a bunch of appetizers which included skillet rolls served warm, the grilled calamari chilled lobster tails, shrimp cocktail, marinated cucumbers and the Mac n cheese. While everything was delicious, my favorite hands down was the Mac n cheese, I also had the most delicious cocktail, the night bloom, recommended by my server based on my love for sweeter drinks. If you find yourself in Salt Lake City, do not miss out dining here! You won't regret it!

From start to finish was a great experience . The place is much larger than I realized from the outside . They have a beautiful wine collection enclosed in glass . We sat near the bar in the high tops . Service was exceptional with great knowledge of ingredients and how the chef curated each dish . Drinks from the menu were excellent and our server even recommended an off menu spicy marg made with chiles . The food was incredible . Every dish unique and bursting with flavor . I plan to go every week the rest of summer while I live in salt lake .

Amazing experience and meal from start to finish. Host was welcoming when we arrived and told us our table would be ready in a few. We were seated promptly in a corner window table. It was a romantic spot as it was our anniversary dinner. We started with a crudo. It was delicious and the flavors were incredible. I repeat this appetizer was delicious. It was delicate and tastes so good. I had the special halibut main. It was in a broth and it had a spicy flavor. It was great. Hubby had the sea bass, he loved it too. For dessert we had the sticky pudding. We also had a chocolate special anniversary dessert. It tasted like a big Godiva candy cake. The service was excellent and we had a wonderful meal. I would def recommend Urban Hill as they are welcoming, the food tastes so good and the prices are appropriate for what you receive.

Had a team event here and had an OK time. It is not much to look at from the outside but the space inside is beautiful. Service was courteous and friendly. My beet salad, steak and toffee pudding were very good. The challenge was the wait. It took forever to get the food and many of the folks in the party were getting very frustrated and semi joked about leaving. Would have been a 4 or a 5 star if not for the wait.

Great service from Jesse tonight! I'm in town for work and was looking for something really good to eat. Once again, Urban Hill did not disappoint. It's become my go-to spot in SLC. I ordered the filet and swapped the broccolini for Brussels sprouts... and they brought out both, so I guess I'm doubling my veggie intake tonight Jesse was friendly, efficient, and really knowledgeable about the menu and wines, which always makes the experience even better. The music playing in the background added just the right vibe. Hands down one of my favorite places to dine in Salt Lake City; absolutely worth a visit if you're in town! PS: i'm mortified to realize I did not take a picture of my beautiful fillet ‍ Attached is a photo of Brussel sprouts.

Awesome brunch all around- well done across good service, and ambiance as always with UH and a satisfying brunch with some classics. We got the blueberry lemon pancakes, brisket hash, and eggs Benedict. Everything was prepared well for what was expected of these classic dishes and we enjoyed it.

Found Urban Hill on social media and was excited to get a dinner reservation last minute. My partner and I were visiting from out of town for our anniversary. They asked if we were celebrating anything when making the reservation and we noted the event, not thinking anything of it. Little did we know it was going to be a complete experience! Curated menus saying happy anniversary, dessert and even a Polaroid picture for us to take home. Truly a one of a kind night. The food was incredible also! We started with the potato gnocchi & sticky rolls which were amazing to share and had fantastic flavor. I got the sea bass as an entree and my partner got the chicken - both fantastic choices! The dessert though was incredible. The baked Alaska was another great highlight - they lit the dessert on fire, which was a fun addition. To our surprise we got a celebratory dessert as well which was so yummy. Overall, truly an amazing meal and experience! So grateful to Urban Hill for making our anniversary one we won't forget.

Searching the internet for a new and trendy restaurant in SLC. A sleek interior, great lighting and a modern look is what Urban Hill is all about. We made reservations as they were busy. The staff here is impressive and they work well as a team to service the clientele. Our waitress, Rinne, was impressive with description, suggestions and explaining the daily specials. We were seated in a comfortable and modern leather booth. The menu was reviewed and honestly, there were so many interesting small plates, we selected 4 small plates to start. The roasted beet salad with pepitos, goat cheese crumbles, mixed greens, basil, strawberry slices, a few small mint leaves with miso honey vinegarette was spectacular. This was the dish of the night and a MUST TRY for anyone dining at Urban Hill. The grilled calamari with preserved lemons, green olive slices, pork chorizo, yuzu saffron aioli and espelette had a beautiful presentation. This dish was disappointing with minimal flavor and burnt / hard slices of chorizo. The tuna crudo with aguachile, jalapeno, brined cucumbers, pickle onions, and a strawberry vinegarette was also chosen. Again, a beautiful presentation, but no real flavor combinations that would have suggested we made a great selection. Our final selection was the spicy harrisa roasted carrots with labneh, tahini and pepitos. The carrots were spicy, good flavor and lacked any sweetness. A small honey drizzle would of gone a long way. Urban Hill is definitely into great dishes, amazing presentations and a cool, sleek vibe in a beautiful space. The staff is very well trained and understand their responsibility well. My only concern was the lack of flavors on a couple of dishes that were not commensurate with the stunning presentation. I would definitely give Urban Hill another chance on a future trip to Salt Lake City. The refinement of flavor on the small plates need to be tweaked. Our hope is that these small changes will elevate them to a "go to" status in Salt Lake City. They obviously have a knack for interesting combinations. Best wishes to Urban Hill, it was an enjoyable evening and the staff took great care of us.

I'm back again! This is one of the best restaurants in SLC hands down. The service, food, ambiance - all top tier. Started with the bread and butter, mushroom tartine and sweet potato gnocchi. Tartine may be one of the best things I've ever eaten, the combination of ingredients and gorgeous presentation for something so simple is phenomenal. Gnocchi great as well. That butter with the bread - yum! Could have just eaten these all night. Friends had the burger and strozzapreti pasta and raved. I ordered the chicken schnitzel which I wasn't a fan of as I found the sauce overpowering and chicken dry. The cocktails and wine were great. Dessert was baked alaska (which is a must) which they light in front of you, and key lime pie. I wish I caught our servers name but she was beyond amazing. She had such a passion for the menu. Was on top of everything. I was sent a survey after my visit and mentioned the chicken dish. They said they wish I had said something live in the moment as they appreciate feedback and would have made it right. That is the sign of an amazing business, so although I didn't like the dish I still give them 5 stars. Make sure to make a reservation or you most likely won't be able to get in. They validate parking!

    Lump Crab Chili Relleno

Urban Hill is located within the new Post District development. This restaurant has a nice modern and hip vibe and a great place for a meal in a small or larger group. Parking is a bit daunting at the Post District as the buildings take up the entire block but if you look carefully there is a mix of garage and surface lot parking as well as valet and limited street parking. Parking validations are available for some of the self-parking options. The menu has quite a unique mix to it and I would call it a seafood heavy menu offering. Many of the appetizers and entrees are seafood type items but look carefully and there are some other choices too. Urban Hill sources from many local establishments which makes for a nice selection on their menu. Reservations recommended. We were welcomed and seated promptly upon arrival and our server did a great job reviewing the menu. For starters we tried Caputo's Burrata and the Skillet Rolls and Grilled Caesar Salad. The mix of flavors with the burrata on top of some sourdough was just incredible. So tasty I could almost eat this as a meal. The Skillet Rolls are O.M.G. full of flavor. They are served in a cozy skillet with herb butter. Don't eat too many as you won't have room for your main meal. I tried Chef Nick's "Beat Bobby Flay" Lump Crab Chile Relleno. While the entree was a bit small it was a perfect portion for me including the starters. It had a nice hint of spice and nice pieces of crabmeat.

A truly wonderful dining experience. Everything we ordered was delicious , good portion and exquisitely executed. We ordered the crab chili relleno .. nice kick with the chili pepper and excellent crab meat. Grilled squid... not my favorite. The chorizo was a bit tough but nice charring in the squid. Filet mignon - perfect size with medium rare, puréed potatoes and broccolini . Can't go wrong with filet. Pork chop -- very think cut, flavorful , juicy with a nice sauce and pineapple salsa on top. Also came with brussel sprouts. Black cod in asian style sauce. Lamb chop were finger licking good. For dessert, we had baked Alaska, key lime pie, and hazelnut tart . The desserts were huge portions! Atmosphere is fun and casual and was packed in a Monday night!

I'd happily recommend Urban Hill! Food was great! Highlighting the bison ribeye - It was cooked perfectly (internal doneness and light charring on the outside) - and the mole pairing was so delicious and interesting. The gnocchi, ravioli, and crudo were some of our other favorites. I appreciate the seasoning - not too salty but enough flavors. We also ordered two mocktails and I think these are some of the most thoughtful and well developed NA drinks I've had in Utah. A lot of times mocktails here are just bubbly fruit juices, but Urban Hill's were complex, interesting, bitter and earthy... I liked it a lot! The staff recommended a mushroom dish (I can't find it on the menu now since they change it periodically) and that was an underwhelming dish. I love mushrooms and I like ordering mushroom at a restaurant because professional chefs usually have more ability and expertise to deliver the right texture through proper cooking techniques. This dish tasted fine, but it didn't have what I expected and tasted more like something you and I can reproduce in our home kitchens. The key lime pie is massive!

However, additional details create a loving connection - it's off-Broadway central location, the copper-paneled ceiling that mimics warm conversations in varied spaces (cocktail, chef's counter, expandable tables for groups, and outdoor), fresh, locally-sourced ingredients with service to match. It's the place where I had my first glass of Turley Zinfandel (education alongside), and the place I will always return for my favorite Wagyu Beef Stroganoff (a comfort from home, but upscale). This one delivered with large, firm, expertly seasoned portobello & forest mushrooms over wide, freshly handmade pappardelle pasta that soaks up rich beef stock (a touch of black pepper) blended with crème fraîche. A generous portion of wagyu is tender and rich. PRO TIP: Mix then let it sit & marinade a minute - flavor pays in dividends. For dessert, a Valhrona Chocolate Pudding topped with whip cream and Maldon flake salt - exquisite, but expensive. The texture is comforting and delicious - olive oil adds a lingering finish with slight fruit.

I informed her that we had a reservation under my name, John, but she simply looked at her list, seemed annoyed, and told us to wait anyway. While we were waiting, we watched several parties of two arrive after us with reservations at 8:10, 8:15, and even 8:20, and they were seated before us. After waiting about 20 minutes, I went back to ask how much longer it would be. I was told it would be another 20 minutes. I reminded Carleigh that we had a reservation, and her response was, "Oh, you did?" She then asked for my full name and phone number, looked up the reservation, apologized, and immediately escorted us to a table that appeared to have been ready the entire time. This was extremely frustrating and disappointing. Reservations are made so guests don't have to wait behind people who arrive later. It felt like our reservation had been completely ignored until I spoke up a second time. Whether this was poor organization or a lack of attention, the level of service at the front desk was unacceptable. We came looking forward to a nice family dinner, but the experience started with unnecessary frustration and left a very poor first impression. I sincerely hope additional training is provided so this doesn't happen to other guests.

Someone ordered the deviled eggs as an appetizer, and they were good, but I wouldn't order them again. A lot of people ordered the burger, which was overcooked for almost every person and definitely didn't seem like wagyu beef. The steak sandwich I got (pictured) was good, but it came with lettuce that had really long stems. I don't particularly enjoy eating stems, so that's as annoying. The rest of my food was delicious. It was slightly overcooked, and the patty was quite thin, lacking the quality and flavor that the beautiful setting promises. On the positive side, the service was attentive, professional, and genuinely friendly throughout our meal. Heart & Hill has all the ingredients to be a standout destination.
