I got a double of the Jasmine Milk Tea Almond Stracciatella to share & it was so delicious! The floral jasmine notes mixed with the chocolate almond was perfection, satisfying on a warm sunny day. First time coming into Salt and Straw. We have heard so much about their ice cream and wanted to give it a try. I have to say it was delicious. The popular flavor called coffee love nut and my husband tried the chocolate chip cookie dough. They let you try some flavors before you make your selection, which is very helpful and super kind. The worker on duty was super helpful and kind. Now we know where to come on a hot day. read more

They offer some unique and unusual flavors--which some people might really enjoy--but nothing really stood out to me when it came to the more basic options. Super friendly service. The store is dimly lit but in a coffee shop kind of way. Must be for the ambiance. No seating. You order and go. They have limited edition flavors in addition to regularly offered flavors. I got the pear and blue cheese and my friend got the limited edition cacao pulp stracciatella gelato. Pear and blue cheese sound weird together but it's actually pretty good. Fruity with a hum of creamy saltiness. The stracciatella had a fruitiness to it too due to the cacao pulp. The ice cream is realllly sweet, so you must like sweet things to enjoy this. The great part about salt and straw is they let you try lots of flavors before ordering. We decided to share the cinnamon snickerdoodle which was amazing. Tasted like the horchata ice cream at Trader Joe's. The portion was pretty large for a single scoop and waffle cone but it did come out to almost $10.. we definately enjoyed it though. There was a pretty long line and wait but moved fairly quickly. This was the best experience my family and I have ever had. My mom and I came to visit my grandpa and wanted to try a new ice cream spot. The manager, I believe her name was Jasmine was the absolute sweetest and kind hearted individual. We are definitely going to be visiting again whenever we come to LA. The ice cream looked good, my review is because NONE of the employees were wearing gloves while serving the ice cream! I ordered a scoop of ice cream and a gentlemen scooped the ice cream and got ice cream all over his hands then put the scoop into the cup and wiped the excess ice cream on his apron and handed me a sticky cup with sticky fingers... It seemed very unsanitary, i didn't see anyone washing their hands and even after the guy served me he didn't rinse his hands or anything! Who knows if the apron is clean or what else he touched in between or how long he went before washing his hands. I highly recommend using gloves between each customer. Also when i asked the cashier about it, she said management encourages employees to not wear gloves. If employees aren't wearing gloves they should be washing their hands between each customer, which i did not see. Sorry but i was so grossed out i threw my $6.50 one scoop of ice cream away. read more

Omg now I'm obsessed with.. super different flavors I've never tried .. like Mac n cheese .. sounds weird but was weirdly delicious lol.. the service was amazing they let you try every flavor and don't make you feel bad for it ,they actually encourage it! I I ended up getting one scoop of the sour cherry pie .. I've literally never had a better ice cream .. my new fave ice cream place for sure ! Prices were ok .. The wait line was way too long .But we waited for kids,because they were excited to try the salt and straw ice cream.For me it was toooooo sweet,I couldn't finish my one scoop 2flavor cone(cinnamon snickerdoodle and banana cramble) ,so I had to throw it.My son choose the Honey lavander and Marionberry flavors,they were less sweet.For me it's too overpriced for the flavires and sweetness.I'll choose Yogourtland ice cream iver Salt and straw. read more

Why are the portion scoops so small here? My boyfriend and I normally go to the Pasadena location, and they fill our cups to the brim. Here in the Americana location, we ordered 1 scoop each and it barely filled half our cups. The only positive experience I had was a girl who stood at the back of the line and offered us samples before we got to order our ice cream, so that saved us some time. read more

Skip it if you can. Every flavor I tried so far tastes...weird, like... something else entirely different than what the name says. The day-old bread pudding flavor is like a bucket of cinnamon mixed with vanilla ice cream, which naturally overpowers everything else, making it impossible for you to taste anything other than cinnamon, and if I wanted that I could've just bought a bottle of cinnamon powder and sprinkled some on my tongue, like hello! This was my first time going there with friends and let me tell you the service was awful!!! The guy who works there (not sure about his name, he was African American) HAD SO MUCH ATTITUDE AND VERY RUDE! On top of the attitude, he gave a me kids size scoop when I obviously asked him to give me the same exact cone as my friends. So yummy! As soon as you step into the establishment, you are greeted with the delicious smell of fresh waffle cones. They have a wide variety of unique, funky flavors which is cool since it's stuff a lot of people have probably not tried before. The staff is super friendly and allow you the opportunity to sample flavors before picking one. I chose the coffee & love nuts and it was so delicious. Their ice cream is so soft and stretchy! Love Love Love this place! Salt & Straw at the Americana is dangerous because you go in thinking "just one scoop" and somehow leave with three flavor samples, a waffle cone, and no regrets. Their flavors are always creative and surprisingly good -- even the ones that sound questionable at first. The Honey Lavender absolutely lives up to the hype, but Coffee & Love Nuts is my ultimate favorite -- I always end up taking pints home for the family because everyone requests it at this point. Staff was super patient and friendly while we stood there debating flavors for way too long. The shop itself is cute and perfect for a dessert stop after walking around the Americana. Only downside is the Americana parking situation can test your patience, especially on weekends, but at least there's validated garage parking. Definitely worth the wait if you're craving ice cream that's a little extra in the best way. read more
