Love that they opened a Salt & Straw at the Americana! Service was quick and friendly. We ordered the Pots of Gold seasonal flavor - our favorite every year! We got a single scoop in a waffle bowl and it came out to around $8ish. The shop was clean and flavors were well laid out on the menu. We will definitely be back!
Stopped by the other day after catching a movie and got a single scoop of Pots of Gold and Rainbows, which is one of my favorite flavors from Salt and Straw! The service was friendly and quick. The store itself was very clean too. Definitely would come back to try more flavors.
This Salt & Straw can be found at the Americana at Brand, specifically next door to La La Land. We (as in my husband, our little girl dog, myself and Tora M) made our way to Salt & Straw after having a nice dinner for some dessert. We came on a Sunday evening, a little after 8 pm. After looking over the menu board, we ended up getting: Single Scoop ($6.95) + Split Cup ($0.50): Because I couldn't decide which flavor to get, I ended up taking Tora M's suggestion of getting a split cup and choosing Huckleberry Cornbread Pudding and Honey Lavender. Huckleberry Cornbread Pudding is part of their current berry series so I wanted to make sure I got a scoop of that, which I did like. I thought the ice cream was creamy and had a nice huckleberry flavor (which I really love). But it is on the sweet side. The honey lavender was very creamy and had a really nice balance of sweetness and can see why Tora M had told me that she always gets this flavor because it's just too good. Single Scoop ($6.95) + House Made Waffle Cone, ($1.65)- My husband also decided to get a scoop of the honey lavender but also wanted to have a waffle cone so that he could break off some of the pieces and share with our little girl (she also got a few licks of the ice cream too). ----------------------------- (Total= $16.05... Tora M was so kind to treat us) Service was friendly. I tried a few different flavors when it was our turn to order. The employee who helped us never rushed us and was more than happy to let us try more than one sample of ice cream flavors. After paying, we ended up sitting at the bench right in front of the register (and believe this is the only seating they have inside). Please note that Salt & Straw is dog friendly, in which they do allow dogs inside their store and they also sell dog friendly (non dairy) ice cream as well (you can find their Apple and Carrot w/ Sweet Potato Ribbon flavored pup cups in the freezer. Overall, we had a great positive experience and most likely would come back the next time we are visiting the Americana at Brand.
Great way to end a meal at the Americana. Salt & Straw offers unique flavors that cater to any ice cream connoisseur. You can ask to sample the flavors that interest you. Was so hard to make a decision. My scoop ended up being a little more decadent than I originally thought since my sample didn't have a big chunk of the toffee bits but it was a treat nonetheless.
The Salt & Straw ice cream store is located in Americana shopping center, and it's usually busy during peak hours. The staff members working here were friendly. I've had their Strawberry Honey Balsamic with Black Pepper, very sour.

I love walking here and eating my ice cream on my walk home :D They have unique rotating flavors at this shop and the ice cream itself is so thick and creamy. I am not the biggest fan of lavender flavor, but coming here and trying their honey lavender has become my favorite flavor when coming here. The shop is always busy, but they have many helpful staff members. They allow you to try as many flavors as you would like. Coffee and love nuts is also a delicious option, it's very salty with a hint of the coffee flavor. They have nondairy/vegan options as well. A single scoop is around $8.
I already love this ice cream brand, and I'm so happy they brought one closer to my home. It's such a nice feeling knowing I can enjoy specialty flavors and never a long wait. Also love that all the stores have a similar vibe.
I love coming here for the Arbequina Olive Oil scoop. Don't knock it until you try it! It's my favorite flavor. The texture is very different, but good. Service is always friendly, ambience is lovely as well. I really like the eagerness of the staff to explain the seasonal flavors and to encourage sampling flavors. It makes me comfortable trying to indulge in new flavors they create. They also have dog friendly ice cream in their freezer by the front door!
Salt & straw is our go to place for yummy ice cream! We love the salted caramel and salted malted chocolate cookie dough.

I have been wanting to try this chain for a long time and finally came by! Employee was real friendly and let us try a couple flavors. They use these really cute metal sample spoons that they wash and re-use. Loved all the unique flavor options. Ended up getting "death by chocolate cake" and a snickerdoodle cookie flavor and loved both. They use high quality ingredients and with all these unique flavor options I will be back again!
My friend and I had a wonderful experience at Salt & Straw.The shop is located at The Americana. It was small but very clean. They have many delicious flavors to choosefrom, the tacolate, ice cream cakes, and ice cream pints.They let us sample different flavors.The staff were very nice. I ordered a single hazelnut cookies and cream (vegan). It was absolutely refreshing, rich and silky, just excellent. I understand they're niche exploratory ice cream (IC) flavors, but nothing really stands out. Service 5 stars: Server was excellent; pleasant, non- judgmental. Said we could sample any or all flavors, didn't give eye-rolls or attitude when line built up behind us. Didn't rush us at all, which we appreciated. I love coffee ice cream, but found it weak, needs to be stronger w a punch like TJ's coffee blast IC. My date loves strawberry, he got strawberry balsamic & strawb. Coconut water. Both tasted like strawberry. I got Lavender Honey,which was lovely, tasted both without overpowering. Tried the other flavors but tended to be too sweet and not much pronounced in its flavors. I minus 1 star for IC temp which was too soft, warm & melty. We love the frosty cold scoops at Baskin Robbin's that stay cold until the last lick/bite & they have seating to enjoy IC in air condition. It was 95' outside, scoops quickly melted out and pissed us off!!! Hey, Salt & Straw, I understand flavors are more pronounced when not frosty cold. We don't prefer warm temp ice cream that melts immediately when you have no inside seating available and have to eat melting IC in 95' weather. I believe BR compensates for their wonderful icy cold scoops by upping their flavor profiles to make them more pronounced and delicious! They provide seating to allow us who enjoy cold scoops to eat in A/C and not outside in 95' weather to eat ruined melted mess! read more

Tried Salt & Straw for the first time after a show at the Alex Theater. It gets a 4/5 for me. The store is located just outside the Americana and around a 2-3 block walk. The location is beautiful and the interior was well decorated. I liked the look of an old parlor and it fit the aesthetic of the Americana well. There was a slight wait at around 8 pm but it wasn't too long. The staff was patient and helped out the customers with recommendations and samples. I liked how the samples were on little metal spoons that added to the aesthetic. Salt & Straw has a lot of unique flavors and even seasonal specials. Unfortunately, I was not a fan of some of the flavors. The hazelnut cookies and cream was weird because it tasted more like coconut flavor than anything though the staff did warn me about. The salted malted chocolate chip cookie dough was also too fudgey/chocolately for me. It was also a little salty for my friend. I ended up with the classic mint chocolate chip and waffle cone but I wish there was something experimental that I liked. However, the ice cream I got, which was a single scoop, was quite large and reflected the price point of $7 (+$1.65 for the waffle cone). It was quite tasty and I would maybe try another flavor again. I do think the flavors are generally just too experimental for my tastes. read more

I love salt & straw. I've been going since there was only one location in Larchmont Village. The ice cream is so good and I love that they have limited flavors every month. I tried the Marionberry oatmeal flavor which is a limited flavor and chocolate gooey brownie from the regular menu. Both were delicious, I usually get it in a cup but today I treated myself to a waffle cone. The customer service was great too. The ambience was nice and cool. read more

The flavors are kinda out there and you wouldn't find them at other ice cream shops so this could be a fun adventure if you're up for something new. They do let you sample flavors so you can give it a try before you order. Also a single scoop is pretty large. I ordered a double and it was too much ice cream. Never thought I would say that. The honey lavender is a classic and popular favorite. The lavender scent is really strong so you can actually taste lavender. It's not just purple for disguise. Surprisingly the olive oil was also quite rich and tasty. It was a nice balance between the two combinations of flavors. The ice cream was very thick and had a really nice consistency and texture. It's like a close soft serve but not. The staff is friendly and very helpful. There aren't seats inside the store but they have two benches outside or you can find a spot to sit somewhere at the mall. read more

Staff was super friendly! A younger blonde girl helped us and she answered all our questions, took her time with us, and gave us recommendations. As someone who is dairy free, it's hard to find dairy free ice cream that actually tastes t like ice cream but this place has multiple amazing flavors. Only thing that could make this place better is if they had seating. Will be back! read more

This is my second favorite Salt & Straw (see another review, elsewhere on my Yelp site). It has two things going for it, right off the bat: location at Americana -- a vacation spot in the heart of Glendale and superb ice creams. The menu is limited but unusual. Where else could you find something like Baked Brie and Fig Cheesecake ice cream? Or Chocolate Potato Salad? I chose the Salted Caramel Okara Cupcake and it was utterly out of this world. The service is very basic. Offering anything chilled or frozen on a three-digit temperature day is a challenge and the place was packed, as these S&Ss always seem to be. The people behind the counter have to be fast and flexible and you sort of feel their pain when you are on line, if you can call it a line--customers of all types and ages just swarm in and range all over the place. Still, they generously offered almost unlimited sample spoons of any flavor we wanted to try and only the scale tipment kept me from indulging. I know my flavors, so my choice was just right. Others with us chose Chocolate Gooey Brownie and Arbequina Olive Oil (olives are fruit, after all ... !). The space is fairly clean given the challenges of keeping it that way on a frantic weekend, the wait was minimal due to the staff's efficiency and were it not for a lot of size 4 outfits, I would have come back for seconds and thirds. Best of all, see the luxurious vibes of Americana that we could bathe in while consuming our ambrosia across the street. read more

Salt & Straw is the best ice cream ever, I will never say no to this place. The texture is thick and smooth and the portions are huge. They have super unique flavors that are fun to sample, and amazing flavors that are available every time. My favorites are the Cinnamon Snickerdoodle and Coffee & Love Nuts, but here I tried the Apple Pie vs Pumpkin Pie (which had chunks of pumpkin pie) and it was so good!!! Expensive but so is everywhere else, this is worth it for sure read more

The shop is a good place to get a sweet treat. One thing to let you know is that it is great but melts fast. So be sure to grab some napkins for the road because there is no seating. Service is welcoming and helpful. It is a very simple and clean esthetic. read more

We heard about this place from a friend. When we walked in, we checked out the list of flavors to pick. My friend who was with us was thrilled to know that she could try any flavor before she decided on one to get. My friends and I tried a few that interested us. The employee was more than happy to give us those cute little spoons to try to our hearts content. Afterwards there was a little square on the panel to return the spoons. How cute! My friend and I ended up picking the strawberry coconut sherbet. While my cousin picked the sea salt caramel ribbon. We were all so happy with our choices and the sherbet and ice cream were delicious. Definitely recommend this place to try where you're at the Americana. read more
