We stopped in here on Wednesday evening, were greeted right away, and able to grab seats at the bar. There's a lot of great character in this space, plenty of seating and bar seating, which is also full-serve. The bartender provided menus, and waters, very quickly while we perused the menus. I ordered a mask off (bourbon, lairds, cynar, lemon, ginger, celery bitters) - it was really tasty. We both went with the specials - cacciucco - which was a very generous sized bowl of shrimp, salmon, muscles, half a lobster tail, grilled bread, and an amazing red tomato, fennel, red chilli, wine, sage sauce - that was perfect when you dipped the grilled bread into it. Bob went with the venison special, which came with mashed potatoes, and since they subbed cauliflower since they ran out of broccolini. It was cooked perfectly, and very flavorful. Horrible experience tonight at Salt! I made sure to book their cellar for a special 30th birthday dinner for our daughter in law. I called to confirm the cellar the day before and it was confirmed. Once we got there, we were told by the Manager that they booked another private party in the cellar. We were very upset as this was a big deal and d we wanted it to be special. The Manager clearly did not care at all. She never came to check on us during the meal. Also--steak was like shoe leather, only not as tasty. Desserts were awful! Mom and I stopped into SALT while doing some daytime shopping. Let's be honest, spending money gives you an appetite! This place has a cool interior, with a great ambiance. There's plenty of seating and the big windows offer the warmth and sunshine throughout the restaurant. We opted for bar seats, and were greeted by a friendly bartender. Splitting a beer is a regular occurrence for me and Mom (you know when you just want those few tastes), so we went with a Belgian ale on tap. A little different than beer we'd normally drink, but still enjoyed it. As far as food goes, the special of the day - salmon tacos - we're most definitely a win. Topped with slaw, and mango pico de gallo, it made for a great mix of flavors. We shared those, and also went for the organic power bowl. I'd give it a solid three stars, as it wasn't the most flavorful and the listed quinoa was hardly there. A bit on the pricey end for what you got as well. But hey, we ate almost the whole thing. This spot is a-okay! It filled out bellies and hit the spot with the cold brew we were craving. I wouldn't be opposed to giving it another go next time I'm in town. read more

We spent the afternoon in Boulder and stopped by SALT for lunch. We had pups with us so we sat outside in the shade. Our waitress was super nice and accommodating. For food I had the power bowl, my husband had the burger, and our friends had the egg sandwich and the summer harvest salad. The power bowl was good but my one complaint is there was barely any quinoa and chickpeas so wasn't that filling. The egg sandwich was also surprisingly small, especially in comparison to the burger. The harvest salad was also smaller than expected but my friend added the salmon which helped. In general, the food was really fresh and the menu items had the potential to be super good but it just missed the mark on a few things. My husband did really like his burger though! read more

Made a reservation (recommended) and came late (past 15 minutes, heads up) but they were still able to get us service seats at the prep bar area. Very nice ambiance and top tier service. We ordered the vegetarian dish, a salad and tomato soup. The soup and salad were very good, the vegetarian was a mess (no other term for it). It was cold by the time it got to us, the spaghetti squash tasted weird, the cauliflower was under seasoned and the beans were fine. It's weird the dish is so disproportionately disappointing compared to the soup and salad and I'm sure the other dishes are awesome but I need to review based on this experience alone . I'm not sure if this place is new or not but they may be getting their footing in the dishes. Like I said, ambiance and service are commensurate with the price point, that dish is not. read more

Fabulous place on Pearl Street mall. I had Bridget as my server and she did a spectacular job! Being a bartender I'm a little particular about my drinks and she didn't bat a night. She also helped with the selection of something off the menu. This is a great place. I actually asked a woman walking down the street who is a local for her suggestion on where to go for a late lunch and she suggested This restaurant. It was an absolute winner! I had the egg breakfast sandwich with the jalapeño cream cheese. It was very tasty. And the jalapeño spice tequila is on point. We were walking by and it looked quite inviting, and we were thrilled to hear there was only a 5-10 minute wait. The environment here is really comfortable and approachable, which I always appreciate. If you're considering ordering a bloody mary, definitely do it. It's perfectly spicy with a ton of horseradish, and I was so glad that's what I went with. As far as the food here goes, three stars is about right. The beet hummus was so pretty, but mostly tasteless. The slider trio, however, was the star of our lunch. There was a quinoa patty, a beef patty, and chicken salad. It really was spectacular. Literally, the cup of Tuscan bean soup we got as an appetizer was fantastic, while the bowl of the exact same soup received as a main dish by another in our party was barely edible it was so salty. The trout ordered by one of us was great, the lamb I ordered had to go back three times. Ordered medium rare. First were two hockey pucks. Brown and shriveled - so bad I can't believe they were let out of the kitchen. Next time they were raw. The third were back to hockey pucks again. Extremely disappointed. I'm really disappointed with my experience at SALT. I reached out to their team to organize a happy hour for a group of 20, and the communication was terrible. I've coordinated events across the country and have worked with numerous restaurants and community spaces, but this was by far the worst experience I've had. Shockingly, I found out that I had been communicating with the owner the entire time. The communication was disjointed and confusing, with miscommunications before and during the event. For instance, I received a text from the owner confirming that I could arrive at 4:15 PM, but when I got there, his team informed me they didn't open until 4:30 PM. He also instructed me to order from the main menu for everyone, yet his staff had no idea we were even ordering food and assumed it was just drinks. I even texted him to confirm our tables, and he claimed he "never heard back from me," despite the fact that I had a text message confirming I was opening registration for the event--with no response from him. The only saving grace was the staff at the venue. They were amazing--sweet, caring, and wonderful. If it hadn't been for them, I don't think we would have had a space for our event. I especially want to acknowledge the host, who was the only one who seemed to care about us. Unfortunately, the manager never apologized, spoke to us, or had anything to do with our event. Firstly - when we arrived we were told that main floor had been bought out - that would have changed our plans for the evening had we known. we were seated downstairs, and it is a completely different vibe. In addition, they appeared to be understaffed - or at least unprepared - possibly due to preparation for the private party on the main floor...? that's no excuse, imo. we all ordered steaks - I ordered the 8oz Wagyu Sirloin - delivered at the right temperature, but had zero marbling and was chewy - the opposite of what one would expect. My friend ordered the tenderloin - it could barely be cut with his knife. my Wife's steak had minimal flavor, but at least you could cut and chew it; and our other friend's steak was reasonable - but not what you would want and what is supposed to be fine dining. the hand cut truffle fries were good, the broccolini was over priced for the portion. the flatbread appetizer was very good. They did take my steak off of the bill, but they were tone deaf to the overall lack of quality in all of the steaks. so be it. We had the best brunch of our vacation at Salt. I ordered a normal eggs, bacon, toast dish and my husband had eggs benedict, but both were exceptionally delicious. Fresh ingredients and "wisdom" eggs from a local farm made the difference. The bacon was extra flavorful and the sour dough toast I had and English muffin in the benedict were crunchy and delicious. Stopped by SALT since there was no wait time on a Sunday afternoon relative to the other restaurants we wanted to visit. That should've been the first red flag. 3/5 service: nice staff, decent speed in service. Unfortunately our waiter clearly didn't know the menu well and wasn't able to answer follow up questions and didn't seem sure of his recommendations. I did notice, on the way to the bathroom, that some of the kitchen staff weren't wearing masks while food prepping, which was off-putting in the age of omicron. 2/5 food: it's really, really hard to mess up pasta. That's why I ordered the penne bolognese. Yet, the sauce came out funky and the meat tasted old. My family also ordered the famous Tom burger which was overly peppered and small. The fries were the best part of the dish! My brother looked so miserable poking through his dish. My mom kept trying to offer me the rest of her burger. If we aren't starving and can't wait for another restaurant, don't think we'd come back. read more

The food is good, but...portion sizes are pretty small. By small I mean, 2 thumb-sized slices of bread for $4, a couple bites of the most delicious brussels for $13...like seriously? The bread was an outrage. I go to stupidly fancy vegan/gluten free joints in LA all the time and even then we at least get a full slice of toast for $2. Not a THUMB sized bread... With the price and mouse-sized appetizers out of the way, the entrees are a lot bigger, albeit still overpriced in my opinion. Food is good overall (their fries are stellar!) with the most bang for your buck entree being the good ol' burger. Everything else you should be expecting at least $20 or above for dinner-unless you are vegetarian and go for the salads. read more

We went for happy hour at salt. We sat outside. They have set a lot of tables on the street. They are safely spaced and the whole atmosphere is cozy with umbrellas. Happy hour is from 3-5pm. It was too early for a real dinner so we ordered drinks and a flatbread to share. Flatbread was really tasty. My cocktail based on tequila was very yummy. It was nice to sit in the sun on comfortable patio chairs. Drinks were $11 and the flatbread was $14. Overall I think it was overpriced for happy hour. But I know they are suffering from the Covid crisis so we decided the price was fair because of that. Overall it was a nice experience. read more

We have been here once before during the summertime and ordered a burger to-go because we couldn't get a table. It was fantastic! We were passing through town again and stopped here to dine inside. Prior to going, we turned to Yelp for recommendations and noticed they had 3.5/5 stars. We were shocked and wanted to use this experience to focus on improving their rating. Unfortunately, I would have to agree with my predecessors and would recommend that SALT has a lot of room for improvement. We ordered their signature cheese burger and the venison tenderloin. We didn't order a lot of food but what we did order came out over cooked which is kind of disappointing for a steakhouse. Saying the venison was dry is an understatement as it lacked all juice/gravy and was room temperature. While the burger was over cooked, it still tasted good. I ordered a glass of the house wine, which they were out of. My fiancée ordered a beer that had an unnecessary amount of foam. All in all, we won't be running back. read more

As someone who loved their sister restaurant, (PEPPER the Noshery), which closed earlier this year, I was certainly excited to try out this restaurant. Admittedly, the food was excellent--although the menu options were quite limited. And, I greatly appreciated that they expanded their outdoor seating to accommodate social distancing. What's interesting is that they checked everyone's temperature prior to seating. I had no problem with this--and even felt like it gave me additional peace of mind while having my mask off to eat. But I was disappointed that when one guest arrived with a fever (unbeknownst to me), they had her stand in the shade, right by my table! At first, I didn't understand why the greeter asked this random woman to stand there--so close to me. But, it became clear to me when the greeter came back a couple minutes later, and I heard the thermometer in her hand start to beep rapidly. This caught my attention, and when I looked up, I caught a glimpse of the thermometer showing that the lady had a 99.5 fever! I was certain they were going to tell her (and her party) that they couldn't dine-in, but after a moment of shoulder shrugging, the greeter sat them down anyways. What's the point of doing temperature checks if you're still going to allow people with fevers stand and sit near other guests?! For that reason, I have to take away two stars. Otherwise, it would have been a 5-star experience. read more

This place. Wow. Amazing. We went with 7 people while in town for a conference at CU, and the food was amazing. The duck and sirloin were excellent. The drinks were good, and the wait staff were quite professional. I am a cheese guy. My brother in law is a cheese monger, so I had to get the charcuterie board too. It was really expensive. $32 for 6 items. An item is a few slices of meat or a small morsel of cheese. Seriously, the three cheeses I tried on this board were less than an ounce each. Less. We wanted to all try a bit and we only each got a nibble for that price. This is not a place to go if you're on a budget. read more

Very fun place! After a great dinner at Frasca , The night was young so we headed to Pearl Street for an after dinner drink or two. If you find yourself with ample time for a leisurely lunch one of these days and happen to be around Pearl Street, SALT is a great lunch choice. I've been here both during the spring and winter, and it's a solid choice any time of year. During the spring and summer, definitely snag a table outdoors to indulge in some people-watching while enjoying your meal. Another thing I love about lunch here is the farm-to-table lunch option. You can order a half entree from their allowable list, along with a soup or side, AND a tiny treat. It's perfect if you like variety without ordering too much food. I will admit, though, sometimes I just want to indulge and eat something rich and creamy. The most recent time I was at SALT, I ordered the steak risotto with mushrooms, truffle butter, and parmesan. It was oh-so-full of flavor and the steak was the medium rare I loved. I also sampled my husband's gnocchi with tri-tip steak, the special of the day. Original review: We've been eating in Boulder for 25 years and SALT has been on our radar since it opened. It was a birthday celebration and honestly after sitting down I was ready to leave. The service was.... Weird. The waiter was nice enough I guess but he didn't come by enough, our water was never refilled, and our busser gathered up ALL of our plates so quickly we didn't have the chance to tell him some plates we weren't done with. The good things: the cauliflower purée on my husband's scallop dish was great. And the mashed potatoes were good. The Bad: The broccolini was undercooked and had no flavor, the tenderloin was overcooked, the scallops tasted good but they were chewy, and the SALT margarita was probably one of the worst cocktails I've ever had. The inside of the restaurant is cramped and loud and the tables against the wall are not aligned with the windows which is just ODD. If you eat at this restaurant, eat outside. For an upscale Boulder staple, I can say I've had better food at bars and chains. read more

Honestly this place, the service and the food was DIVINE. Myself and my boyfriend decided to come here after a hike, and found this gem. I ordered the sirloin with the chili gremolata sauce and wow. My boyfriend ordered the blackened salmon with corn cake and I don't even eat salmon like that and just wonderful. The corn cake had a heat towards the end that sneaks up on you.. such a surprise. We ordered the red velvet cake for dessert and the strawberry sauce made combined with the red velvet was a very surprising hood combo. Our server Ben gave excellent service as well. On top of everything. We live in Florida and came for a red rocks concert and hike but we are definitely coming back to boulder to taste this food again! read more
