I arrived early and they had the table set BEAUTIFULLY! There was a long table right next to the window with white table clothes, flowers and candles all across. I had just dropped off some flowers but they made it look even better. Our server Bryn was the sweetest and cutest girl ever. She was on top of everything even with our large and crazy group The couple got free champagne and desserts, she came out with sparklers and made it such a special night overall. Had the most amazing dinner and the U2 tribute band was fun Yvette the new manager has really been an asset to the restaurant! Completely turned the food and service around pretty quickly! Restaurant is really nice and the outdoor space is incredible with a sand pit area and everything! Also dog friendly so that's always a plus!! Parking is easy because it's a huge lot! We had NY steaks and the char was delicious and meat very tender! The sourdough stuffed loaf is to die for and the Ahi tower is a must!! Ordered their Creek Burger and fries. Food was really good. It's all the other aspects that fell apart. There were a ton of tables open and we had a reservation. Still had to wait between 5-10 minutes passed our time for a table. Not so fun with 2 toddlers. Then it took about 20 minutes to get our drinks. I saw about 7 waiters around the outside bar at one point. No clue why it took so long. And then when I got my draft beer, it was 12 oz in a plastic wine shaped glass. How is a pint not the standard size? And in plastic? The food came out quickly after ordering. The outside sand area that's enclosed is a great idea, with view of street. After last night's experience, we might be done with them. - 35 minutes to get drinks - 45 minutes to place food order - Entrees arrived literally -one- minute after salads and soup. They did not remake, but put under lamps for five minutes to nicely dry out our fish dish - Had to ask for water refills multiple times - Got attitude from server towards us when our dishes came out with wrong sides and we asked for a correction - If we have to pay for a birthday dessert on top of a $500 tab, at least let us choose which dessert There is a certain level of service and quality control we expect when paying $56/entree, and SCG is missing the mark on both. We live nearby and used to come here all the time, but just can't support their current state. We appreciate how beautiful the patio area is and that they are bringing in live music, so would consider returning for drinks and a band but not likely anything else. read more

We were celebrating my cousin's birthday, and from the moment we sat down, Kiana brought such a warm, positive energy to our table. She was incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely cared about making sure everyone was having a great time. Her positive attitude and joyful spirit was infectious, Kiana was very sweet and attentive. She constantly checked in to make sure we had everything we needed without ever being overbearing, allowing us to enjoy our time together while still feeling well taken care of. She also gave fantastic recommendations, and everything we ordered came out timely and perfectly prepared. One thing that really stood out was when I asked if they happened to have truffle fries, even though they weren't on the menu. She explained that they normally only serve them during happy hour, but she offered to check anyway...and to my surprise, she was able to bring them out for us! That small gesture meant so much and showed how willing she was to go above and beyond for her guests. To make the birthday celebration even more special, she brought out a beautiful tres leches cake with a candle so we could all sing happy birthday to my cousin. It was such a thoughtful touch and made the moment feel truly special. After we paid, we had the chance to chat with her, and it only confirmed what we had already experienced throughout the meal--she is such a positive, uplifting person. She's the kind of employee who lights up an establishment and makes people want to come back. We left talking about how wonderful she was, and she played a huge role in making our celebration so memorable. The food was just as amazing as the service. We started with the crab and spinach dip and the bacon-wrapped shrimp appetizer, both of which were absolutely delicious and the perfect way to start our meal. I'd revise my bad review from a few months ago if I knew how...but last night was a complete turn around. It was wonderful! Went to see our favorite band "Pinch Me" (who I hope will be there again!) We sat outside, a comfortable and lovely patio, waiters were prompt and our drinks were great. The food was much improved also. Definitely try the short ribs...and the chicken piccata was lovely. This has been the first time going to Salt Creek since the remodel and it will probably be the last time. How on a Friday night at 6:00pm can I order beers and they are out of them, a Trestles and then an 805. So I order another beer and they did actually have it but are you kidding me $12.00 for the beer. Not even a 12 oz pour because we measured it with a Pacifico bottle. Then the food was so so. I got the wedge salad and you would have thought it came off the kids menu as small as it was. My son got the steak which he said was not that great as were the fish and chips we got. I was disgusted to be seated at a table with cigarette ashes, or some sort of black residue on the seat. In addition, there were dirty plates given to us as well as dirty silverware. We ordered two fillets & the ribs. The fillets were so hard to cut through there is no way that was a premium cut of beef. Also heavily over seasoned to compensate for the texture. My husband's ribs were average. They came out so hot. He couldn't eat them for several minutes which indicates to me they were probably microwaved. I don't know how these people get away with charging so much money for this below average food quality. Not to mention half the restaurant seems to be renovated while the other half looks depressing with carpet. I would never recommend this place for your family to come eat. It's basically an elevated Sizzler type place, but you pay $$$$. read more

We came down to San Clemente on Sunday and stayed and extra night in Dana point. We had my husband's birthday dinner here he ordered the local rock crab dip appetizer and it was delicious. Our server was very kind and welcoming her name was Kiana. I enjoyed the lychee martini that was made so well. He had a ribeye that was supposed to be rare but came out a little more medium they were able to fix it and I had the sea bass that was so good! The Brussels as a side were delicious. It was pet friendly on the patio because we brought our dog along for the trip! Friendly staff and our experience was great overall, his steak is why I didn't leave 5 starts, but the service was perfect. They have a nice outdoor patio we went on a Monday so it was quiet. Salt Creek Grille absolutely knocked it out of the park. Everything we ordered was incredible from start to finish. We started with the bacon wrapped shrimp and the crab dip, and both were packed with flavor and perfectly prepared. The wedge salad was crisp and refreshing, and for our mains we had the sea bass, pork chop, and the French dip. Every single dish was cooked beautifully and tasted amazing. The sea bass was especially outstanding, but honestly there were no weak dishes at all. And then there was the butter cake. Wow. It was the perfect ending to an already fantastic meal and easily one of the best desserts we have had in a long time. On top of the food, our server was wonderful. We were once regulars there. Always had a great service, friendly service and good times. However, lately there seems to be a change. We ordered our drinks which were served promptly. Afterwards, we ordered on more drink and Chilean sea bass. We waited and waited. We noticed that people who came before us were being served. However, we were waiting for our second cocktail for over 45 minutes. I had to flag down our server to remind her of our order. No effect. We continued to wait. We made the conscious decision to leave. The manager apologized and did not charge us. We went to Coastal Kitchen because we were starving. We got seated and fed right away. I was a little disappointed to find out happy hour only applied to the bar, but we sat on the patio and still had a great experience. When we got there around 4:30, it was quiet and we had the whole patio to ourselves. Eventually it started filling up and service became slower (reasonably so). But, I ended up missing all of line dancing! A little disappointing, but I still was able to enjoy the live band and pretty atmosphere. Sorry to report. Not a good experience. First thing we see when sitting down is how dirty the water glasses were... some just had water spots, but others had greasy fingerprints all over them... one steak knife was "sticky". Get a better dish washer and polish your glasses and check the utensils. The service was extremely slow, due to the kitchen that was way backed up. We waited 75 minutes for our entrees. The chicken was dry, but my braised short-rib was delicious. And the restaurant was only 25% occupied from 6pm to 8:30pm on a Sunday night. The molten lava cake wasn't, the creambrule had zero carmelized sugar (it was torched hours before being taken out of the refrigerator). This restaurant has seen better days. Sad to see. read more

Come to find out the machine wasn't working correctly. She gave my husband such a hard time he wanted to leave. The last time I was here was before Covid. I started coming here two weeks ago because my girls wanted to do line dancing on Thursdays. We've asked for our favorite waiter, Sterling, for the second time. He is awesome, tentative, cheerful, personable, and most of all great customer service! I've previously enjoyed Salt Creek Grill and was excited to go this weekend to have a cocktail while the band played outside followed by dinner. Our experience was so disappointing and frankly embarrassing. We checked in with the young overwhelmed hostess an hour before our dinner reservation as outside tables were allocated on a 1st come 1st served basis: they were all booked-no problem-but she promised a seat on the lounges outside in 2 minutes so we waited and waited by the stand for an hour-she had no idea what she was doing and should not promise something she can't deliver. Another more capable hostess seated us for our reservation inside, and again we sat at an empty table with no server coming by for what seems like forever. We ordered drinks, 20 minutes later were told they couldn't make a cocktail from the menu so it was another 15 minutes before the replacement drink finally arrived-now an hour and a half after we arrived! Our poke appetizer arrived with no plates or silverware, but was tasty when we got to eat it. We ordered the 18oz steak to be split with a salad, the steak arrived on 1 plate and was gone for a long time to be split. It was tender and tasty when we eventually got to eat it, but it had quite a lot of fat. The salad was below par. We were celebrating a birthday, they do offer a complimentary dessert but sadly it was a tasteless sponge cake covered in canned cream. This was the worst restaurant experience I have had in memory, disorganization all around and to add insult to injury, the restroom was absolutely filthy. read more

What a disappointing experience. We arrived around 4:30 PM, and the restaurant was uncomfortably hot. It was obvious the air conditioning either wasn't on or wasn't being used until the early dinner rush started coming in. For a restaurant charging these prices, guests shouldn't have to sit through dinner sweating and uncomfortable. The cleanliness was also a major issue. Our water glasses were stained and dirty, and the tables were sticky, making the entire place feel poorly maintained. These are basic details that should never be overlooked, especially at this price point. Considering how much our bill was, we left feeling like we had wasted our evening. We honestly would have had a much better experience at Houston's or Nick's. What makes it even more disappointing is that the location is absolutely phenomenal and has so much potential. Unfortunately, the atmosphere, cleanliness, and overall experience simply did not justify the cost. A beautiful location can only take a restaurant so far. We were really excited to try this restaurant because we were considering having a private dinner here after our elopement with 40+ guests. Unfortunately, our first experience was disappointing. The restaurant was not busy at all and there were plenty of open seats. We were seated and given water, but after 20 minutes, no one had checked in on us or taken our order, even though the guests at the table next to us were being attended to. We understand that restaurants can get busy, but given how quiet it was and the fact that we were hoping to potentially host such an important celebration here, the lack of attention left a poor first impression. The photos on yelp are inaccurate if they are over a year old. We came for happy hour. The bartenders were very friendly and helpful. The food, however, was just okay. We got the buffalo wings, taquitos, sliders, and a salad (the salad was not on happy hour) The taquitos were the best. Clearly homemade and really good. The wings were standard wings. The sliders were inedible. We retuned them. They tasted like they came from frozen meat. The vibe inside feels like a hotel restaurant. Drab colors. No real soul. Just really ho hum. When our dinners finally arrived, the presentation was lackluster for three of us, while our fourth guest had to wait at least another five minutes for their meal. Fortunately, the food itself was good. We then ordered a second round of drinks, but unfortunately, those did not arrive until all four of us were about 90% finished with our meals. To make matters worse, we were shocked to see that we were charged $32.00 for two baked potatoes. Really?
