I have always loved this deli. I have been coming here as long as it has been open. Today I was on a ride and dropped down out of the hills pretty hungry.. I thought about a couple spots.. I have never been to the deli here so this review is for the market itself. First of all, the people that work at the register are always SO nice, particularly Ahmad! The nicest man ever! The beer and alcohol selection is remarkable. Lots of craft beer, wine, and drinks in general. They have a ton of prepackaged salads that are fresh to bring on the go as well. I've always considered myself a foodie - love to cook too. But I really hate making salads and they're probably the last thing I would order at a restaurant. BUT, the salads at this market are so amazingly delicious that I find myself craving them on a regular basis! The vegetables are so fresh, and they add a nice variety of them. The Boars Head products of meats and cheeses they include really add a gourmet touch. I also love their homemade salsas, guacamole and freshly prepared entrees to go. I came in this place late at night right before closing 9 o'clock looking for some bagels because I had some loxs at home. The young man Tim was so helpful. He went out of his way to look for bagels back in the deli and found four and sold them to me, he was also very helpful and finding a nice bottles champagne. Came in here a few days ago to check out and see what they were all about. Sad to say they do not have much of a selection on food it's just the bare minimal. They do have a deli area and offer a large selection on deli items. They also cater big events. They sell wine, beer, a few imported Italian pastas and pasta sauces. The prices are a bit up there so this is like a last minute fast run to the wine store type of place. They do have fun Knick knacks and touristy momentos but not an everyday store visit. They also have a section of Amy Organic frozen items but they are asking $15.00 for a frozen Burrito, that is a slap in the face high. But yes I will return and no I am not buying that fancy frozen burrito. Cute outdoors patio small but nice to have a quick deli Sammy and a cold kombucha with my hubs. read more

Cool place, very clean, cool stuff, good vibe of music playing in the background, but super super slow customer service. Three stars because waited almost 15 minutes. I had to Cancel the order. But, While waiting I ate a yummy an Ohi plant based bar you can find it in the cooler near the deli sandwiches I talked to the manager on the way out.. The manager was honest, cool and understanding. I hope y'all understand I was in uniform in need of a juice, specifically the "T-street" revitalized. There was no one offering to help until I asked can I order a juice... Bummer for me I needed to get back to work. Suggestion to me, if I go back I will ask them to please expedite my juice. If it fails.... there won't be a third visit. Sorry time is precious. I went here on may 31st and I went here right after going to da beach and the food was gud, I recommend this place over subway due to the fact that it is cheaper and ya that's why it gussdss. Great little store and neighborhood market. Plenty of easy parking and they carry many local items that you want find elsewhere. They have a large selection of alcohol as well as a small seating area to sit down were they offer one foods. Service is friendly and the store is very clean and well-maintained. read more

I was really banking on going to this place because it was a closeby small business that I wanted to support. The setup inside is complete and impressive, really catering to beach day/picnic needs. For example, they have grab-and-go salads, bottles of wine and some really cute journal books for a reflective time outdoors. We ordered a couple sandwiches from the deli that came nicely wrapped and made with Boar's Head meat: the Sausalito Turkey and the Blazin Buffalo Chicken. Eating them, however, did not present the best balance of flavors. The Sausalito Turkey was overdone with bleu cheese and the Blazin Buffalo Chicken was overdone with buffalo sauce, in my opinion. Also, the wait time was about 20 minutes. Maybe the other sandwiches are a better try for next time. Other than that, I love a small market with hot options (and booze) to go. read more

The sandwiches are prob 3 stars but the service is so bad. I ordered online today and it took over an hour to get my sandwich. Was it busy or crowded, no. Whatever you order, just assume it will be wrong and take foreeeeeeeever. Does anyone that works there care..nope. Be prepared to wait for a long time as they try to figure out what an order is and what to do with it. My order has been wrong every time. Recent visit - Ordered Cajun turkey, Italian and two sides. After an hour, and asking about the order - they had no clue where it was or the status. Then they tried to give me the order without my sides. I asked for my sides - oh you had sides. Yes. Got home and the panini was not grilled and Italian was not good. I give up on this place. Shame on me for going back after similar experiences. Bummer but I am done with this place. read more

So sad as I have always loved having this gourmet market so close to home but the attitude from the cashier tonight literally is going to make me drive past from now on and head up the street to Ralph's or Trader Joe's My wife is coming home from a long road trip with her daughter so I ran out to get her a nice bottle of wine when she walked in and didn't wanna go all the way to the grocery stores. So I go and grab a bottle of Freemark abbey Cabernet and it's marked clearly and 54 bucks so I take it to the register and he rings it up and it 64 bucks... I let him know that it's Marked differently and he goes out and checks with me and says oh sorry yeah that's wrong you're gonna have to pay the higher price. To which I say no, you should honor the price you have marked on the shelf and then if want raise it for the next guy, so then he says well if you need to be cheap like that fine So with that I hand back the bottle of wine and drove to Ralph's and bought it for $55 I wonder if the owners of this place even read the reviews much less train the staff to do the right thing in business read more

I don't know what has changed exactly but MBM has gone downhill significantly in the past several years. I initially started eating there in 2009 when I moved to Dana point. I went there religiously. The place was super laid-back, the staff was friendly and remembered who you were/what you ordered etc. A real local type of place. Couple years later they remodeled and that seems to be when things kind of started to change. Anyhow, today I went in put in my order girl to register wasn't sure how to work it, staff seemed irritated, there were no utensils, they no longer sold the locally made cookies, another item I looked for on the shelves was out of stock. Since 0 Stars isn't an option. Would really love to hear from the owner. Just had an issue where I called in to speak with a Manager and after being passed from not only one "manager" but then to a different "manager" the guy sounded like he was higher than a kite, kept cutting me off, laughing, and ultimately hung up on me after I tried getting an answer other than "I don't know it's just the law" from him. I'm not local and could not return to the store and having worked in restaurants for over 15 years, not to mention being alive and understanding how a general refund works, the fact that a refund can't be initiated over the phone is complete bull just coming from whoever was pretending to be the manager. Really hoping the business owner will respond to this because yes, your business is slow and overpriced but was always satisfying until now. A good place to grab a quick bite, and the price is pretty cheap. What's better, you can get a half size! They have so many good chips :) I got the tuna melt panini today and it was good! Not sure who's been running this place the last few years, but it's gone straight downhill. My family used to get sandwiches here every weekend. The deli workers talk rude and disrespectful and cannot complete our sandwich orders. They gave us wads of cash instead. Very bizarre. read more

Since the remodel, the store looks great but they have made the sandwich ordering process ridiculously complicated (what must be 10 different order forms depending on what you want to order) and they are batting about 50% on getting the order right. :( read more

This sandwich shop has gone downhill. I keep going back as they PREVIOUSLY were good sandwiches, but the last 5 or 6 times I have ordered from them there was always something that went wrong! They are always screwing up the orders. The kids that work there just don't care. Their website does not finish the order on their end, but it does finish on consumer end. Their GF bread used to be really good, then they switched suppliers and it is just terrible. We had to re-order, and they took 40 minutes to make the sandwiches. My family is done with Monarch Beach Market sandwiches. There are too many other places that are very good and we will be going there from here on out! They are overpriced as well! read more

Usually I love this place. Tonight not at all! I will never go back. Got two sandwiches and one was a beef dip and the other was a tuna melt. Let's review the tuna melt first. Melt was so good that the cheese was cold! How can a melt have cold cheese? Now for the dip. Bread was like a rock. Meat was dry. I will post pictures. Then they give me my bag. Dip is on its side and leaking! Get to the car no the bottom rips out leaking the dip onto my seats. The dip was not fully wrapped either.
