I so immensely enjoyed the food, service and ambiance of Harry's that I came here not once, but twice for dinner while on vacation in St. Augustine! Expect a wait. That is a given for either lunch or dinner, unless you come on the earlier side. The first time, we waited 30 minutes and the second time about 20. For food we tried Harry's Gumbo, Crawfish and Shrimp Etouffe, Shrimp and Scallops Orleans, and Crabcakes. The portions are large, and some of the entrees on the heavy side, but absolutely delicious. For dessert we ordered, Key Lime Pie and Banana Creme Brûlée. The desserts did not live up to the rest of the meal, but still capped off the evening nicely. The first time we were sat downstairs and our service was fantastic. Our waiter was personable, knowledgable and effortlessly managing several tables at once. The second time we were seated upstairs and waited on by the bartender, this scenario was not as great, but the food still was.

I rarely give restaurants a five star review but Harry's Seafood Bar & Grill deserves every bit of it. We were in town visiting friends who live locally and they brought us here and put a lot of thought into it. I got the crab cakes dinner and I got one side with it. I chose the red beans and rice. Both the entree and the side were delicious. My friends got Jambalaya, grit cake, Fat tire, boudin balls and red fish. Everyone loved their food and our waitress Kayla was amazing. She was so much fun and right on top of everything.

Yum! After a couple of days near Orlando and having too much fast food and pizza (because of my kids) I was really looking forward to some good seafood. This place did not disappoint! We started with the crab cake appetizer which was fantastic. I ordered the crab dusted redfish royale which was delicious! I love the smashed potatoes and corn maque choux. Unfortunately I was stuffed from the crab cake appetizer and the side salad I ordered so I couldn't eat too much. My husband had the andouille crusted grouper which he said was fantastic. My son ordered the southern fried chicken tenders which he said were just ok since they were kind of soft and not very crispy. We sat in the alley/patio area and the seating and ambiance was absolutely beautiful. Service was excellent as well. I'd definitely recommend this place!

I took a day trip with some friends to St. Augustine and we discovered this incredible seafood restaurant. Harry's Seafood Bar & Grille is a cozy rustic and modern venue. You know it's good when there's a long wait. It's a cute two story building with an outdoor seating area. Since it was a little chilly out, they had lamp heaters available and even live entertainment. The particular singer that day was phenomenal with her unique raspy indie tone. We had a 20 minute wait for our table which happened to be outdoors, so we bought drinks at the bar. The Bloody Mary and Sangria were both better than expected. The downstairs bar was a little tiny for the amount of patrons, but cozy. There's also a bar upstairs. When we finally got seated, we were pleased to have an awesome server. He was attentive, helpful, and had a good sense of humor with our silly group. The staff in general were friendly. I can honestly say that everything we ordered was good. For appetizers we chose Fried Green Tomatoes, Cheese Dip, Fish Strips and Seafood Dip. Dinner included Seared Tuna, Seafood Pasta, Crab Cakes, and a Redfish special. Everything was well seasoned, savory, and rather sizable portions. The only downside is that there may be a wait for the restrooms since this is definitely a high traffic restaurant! There's plenty of pay parking lots.

Taste: 5/5 Value: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Every time I'm in St. Augustine, someone tells me to go to Harry's Seafood Bar, and honestly, they're right! The food is consistently delicious, it really lives up to the hype. Definitely a must-visit if you're in St. Augustine, especially if you're in the mood for flavorful, New Orleans-style seafood dishes. The outdoor setup is a big part of what makes it so enjoyable. It's a really comfortable and well-done space with a great atmosphere, laid-back and yet still lively. They've got heaters going when it's chilly and umbrellas for when the sun gets a little intense, so it's a solid spot no matter the weather. On our most recent visit, our server Jesse was super helpful and made sure everything ran smoothly. He checked in at the right times, had great recommendations, and really added to the overall experience. All around, it's one of those places that's easy to recommend. Great food, great vibe, and solid service, definitely worth checking out.

My family and I came here for lunch on a Friday afternoon. It was a little hot outside, so we sat indoors in one of the dining rooms. I had the blackened fish tacos with a side of collard greens. The tacos were filled with fresh pico de gallo and lettuce, and the greens were salty and a little spicy. All of us really enjoyed our food! Our waitress was great and checked in on us a few times during our meal. I would definitely recommend this spot!

Amazing restaurant. Beautiful inside and out, large patio outside for when weather is nice. Live music of the weekends, I think. Our server was excellent, very attentive and efficient. The bread is delicious, soft, and the garlic butter ... yum... spreads so nicely. I started with a Blackberry Bramble which was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend this beverage. I had shrimp and grits as it was a chilly day. It was as perfect as any can be. The grits were smooth and creamy, shrimp lightly seasoned and served in a Cajun gravy. My husband had the fried shrimp and said it was excellent. He doesn't eat cole slaw, so I had his and it was so good, fresh sweet, and delightfully crunchy. Will definitely visit this restaurant again!!

Stopped in for lunch as a 4 on a Monday afternoon. Casual atmosphere with tables available inside or outside in their courtyard. The day was beautiful so we stayed outside. Our server was pleasant, friendly and willing to please. Libations all around then onto grilled chicken sandwich, boudin balls (sausage and rice-yummy), grouper sandwich and scallops. Everything was delicious, Enjoy!

The food was amazing from start to finish. I had the Crawfish Etouffee which was simply delicious. My wife had Jambalaya and said it was very good.....but she kept stealing bites of mine so we know who chose correctly. It was hot as blazes in the room we sat it or this would have been five stars. Other rooms were nice and cool. We will go back again and again.

We love sitting outside on the patio at this bustling restaurant. We had a drink while waiting to be seated. Service is friendly but a bit slow. We ordered the Fish Tacos (blackened), which were very good and also tried the Shrimp & Crawfish Pot Pie. The fish tacos had a nice crunch. The pot pie is extremely rich so be prepared if you're not ready for a heavy entree. Both entrées came with sides so we ordered the collard greens which were delicious, and rice and beans which also were good, but needed a little kick of hot sauce

Wow! Food tastes just like you're sitting in the New Orleans French Quarter. I'm not sure I had joy like this at a restaurant in a really long time. The fried crab claws were 100000% one of the best things I've eaten. I wish I could have taken a gallon home. The fried green tomatoes were also spectacular and I like all the accompaniments that came on it. All of our entrees were delicious. We had the pasta, fish sandwich, and fish tacos. The best treat was the friend Oreo beignets were the final closing act. We sat outside on the patio and it was really nice and the trees kept us from sitting directly in the sun. 10/10 recommend

Harry's is a staple for my boyfriend for when we go to St. Augustine. And there's a reason for it! They have wonderful food and are conveniently located in the walking area of downtown st Augustine. Service has been a little hit or miss depending on when we've come but it's not been horrible. If you've come for dinner be prepared to wait. Anytime we've stopped in after 5 it's always been about an hour wait and there's very limited seating space to wait. However, while you're waiting they do have a server who will take drink orders and bring them out to you. We love that service as it's very convenient. This is an old home or business that's been converted on each floor to have its own kitchen. We've dined on the first and second floor, and so far I prefer the first floor dining space as it was just a little less crowded. The food can be spicy so be wary of what you're ordering! The mashed potatoes have a kick to them that's not advertised. The pasta has a kick on the aftertaste. I'm not able to handle really spicy foods and unfortunately for me most of the menu is off limits. However my boyfriend finds the spice a lot more tolerable and loves the salmon dish. Overall, it's a bit of a pricier place to eat but it's a nice treat once in a while.

We arrived around 4pm in November, so a busy time since it's during Night of Lights and they don't take reservations. The wait was about 20 minutes; be sure to walk all the way inside to put your name on the list (there was no host outside where guests were waiting). The jambalaya was very good. Everything was seasoned well, and the side of rice and chicken was just okay. Although it was busy, service didn't lack.

Ask the Community - Harry's Seafood Bar & Grille

Are there any gluten free options?

The menu has many options and I'm sure they can accommodate your dietary needs by recommending dishes that are naturally gluten free. They do have their menu available to view as well if you need to look ahead of time. Hope this helps :)

    Are children welcome?

    Yes! Family friendly

    Do they take reservations?

They do not take reservations. You can call them and ask for the wait time, though!

Are dogs allowed in outside seating area?

Both times I was there! Yes. They were truly service animals for some former military guys

    Do I need a reservation?

No reservations, but you need to check in and depending on availability you might have to wait for a table.

    Is parking available?

Yes they have their own lot or you can park somewhere else and walk. We have parked in the street before for free and just walked.

    Is there Happy hour?

I don't know if they have Happy Hour per se; but, they have a slew of daily specials, which makes it worth a visit almost any day of the week. My wife and I ordered cocktails off the regular menu; and, they were not very expensive.

The combination of imaginative cocktails, exceptional food, and a unique atmosphere makes every visit memorable. The cocktail program is outstanding. We enjoy trying a variety of their exotic and inventive drinks, and they never disappoint. The flavors are bold, creative, and unlike anything you'll find at a typical restaurant bar. The Yellow Submarine cocktail is quite possibly the best drink I have ever consumed. Made with curry-infused Bermuda black rum, lime, ginger, and Asian five-spice brown sugar syrup, it sounded unusual on paper but came together beautifully. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered four of them that evening, something I rarely do. That was three years ago, and despite returning several times since then, I have never seen it on the menu again. The food is equally impressive. Two years ago, I ordered the Skillet Roasted New York Strip served with Yukon Gold potato-anna, roasted asparagus and spring onions, watercress, and black truffle hollandaise. To this day, it remains one of the top five restaurant meals I have ever eaten. Every component on the plate was exceptional. The steak was perfectly prepared, the crispy potato galette was irresistible, and the black truffle hollandaise elevated the entire dish to another level. It was the kind of meal that stays with you long after the plate is cleared. I would gladly drive 300 miles just to eat it again. Most recently, I had the wild mushroom bisque, and it was the best soup I have ever consumed. Rich, creamy, buttery, intensely mushroomy, and perfectly balanced, it was everything a mushroom soup should be. The addition of crispy pickled onions and crème fraîche added texture and contrast that made an already outstanding soup even better. My wife and I enjoyed it so much that we returned the very next day hoping to order it again, only to discover it had already rotated off the menu. My only complaint about The Ice Plant is that some of their greatest creations seem to disappear as quickly as they arrive. While I appreciate the constantly evolving menu and understand that seasonal changes are part of what makes the restaurant special, there are certain items that deserve a permanent home. The Yellow Submarine cocktail, the wild mushroom bisque, and the Skillet Roasted New York Strip with black truffle hollandaise are three of the finest things I have experienced there. The fact that I can vividly remember one of these items from three years ago and another from two years ago says everything. Great restaurants serve good food. Truly special restaurants create dishes and drinks that stay with you for years. The Ice Plant has done that for me more than once, and that is why we continue to return whenever we visit St. Augustine.

When I arrived with my pregnant wife and my service dog, he asked somewhat curtly if it was a service dog. After I confirmed and thanked him, he rudely placed the menu on the table, turned around without saying another word or showing any basic courtesy, and just walked away with his back to us. It was a pretty cold and uncomfortable welcome. That said, the restaurant is absolutely charming. I really loved the interior ambiance--it's cozy, well-decorated, and has a very pleasant vibe. The food was extremely delicious. We ordered the Half Pound Ice Plant Burger and it was juicy, fresh, and packed with flavor. You could taste the quality in every single bite--the meat was perfect, the ingredients fresh, and everything very well balanced. Definitely one of the best burgers I've had recently. Despite the initial host experience, I would return without hesitation for the food and the atmosphere. Highly recommended, but they could improve the initial greeting.
