The restaurant is located in area by water and marsh. Not good lighting at night. The view was beautiful. The parking is very tight. The ground wet and muddy. We went for an event and they had pre planned meals. The waitress was nice and polite. I had the cowboy ribs. They were tender and fell off the bone. The catfish was deep fried but a little bland. The ladies's restroom was not cleaned.

Hole-in-the-wall spot that is tucked away off the road... I love that this restaurant is homey & eclectic! The menu offers plenty of seafood and nonseafood items! The crab cakes are seasoned to perfection! Try them - your tummy will be so happy! Thank you to our waitress that kept our glasses full, attended to our every want, & was so cheerful!

O.M.G. After striking out three times we found this hidden gem which is located in a neighborhood off of A1A!!! Wow ! Just wow! We found the Salt Water Cowboys by accident. Staying at Beachers Lodge, we were hungry and decided to go to the Oasis; which was closed. Thank goodness it was! Anastasia was our server and with her southern charm, we decided to eat a TON of food! Coming from NE my husband had the absolute BEST Clam Chowder in his Life!! It's located in the Inter-coastal and the view is gorgeous!! Run here!! You will not be disappointed!

The ambiance was so cool and we enjoyed the cowboy combo appetizer, really good music, good atmosphere nice waitress. All in all a great experience probably would come back for the shrimp.

    So pretty!

I'll share some tips and then I think you will be okay as the food was good, the prices what you expect, and the service was cordial. There were just the two of us and a few larger parties were waiting to be seated. We were offered a chance to sit on the patio. I usually don't mind that and the evening was lovely. We were seated toward the back and the neighborhood with a house being constructed is not as charming as the salt water marsh. If you are from the area and see beautiful marshes all the time that might not be important to you. Our food was very slow in coming out. LOL when we left the restaurant was nearly empty so all those other folks waiting had left and gone home. To be fair they adjusted our bill without us asking for that. So using this info I think you could make it work.

Interesting spot with great views. Very friendly service and cool coastal decor. Full bar with seafood and other options. Fried chicken was delicious. Creamy grits were good but shrimp trio stole the show!

Roasted Potatoes were nice actually. Not too greasy and not under or over cooked.

The vibe of the place is 100% fish camp feel. Since I have been to a "fish camp" type restaurant in the past. So that was fun and the kids thought it was cool. Problem was food took a long time to come out. Nearly an hour for small portion appetizers. Then roughly the same amount of time for overcooked bland food. Our waitress was nice so that was a plus. The kids ate their food but when a 6 year old says "their food isn't good" that's a problem... So for the future something should change in the kitchen or their menu items. We will not return in the future. Sorry

We have been here before and it remains a fine spot. The location is lovely. Staff was courteous and helpful. The food is fine. I had the shrimp and it was fine.

This is more of a 3.5. First of all, service. Lexi was 5 stars; she put up with all of our questions and family banter with a smile. She was fantastic! The appetizers: I thought the fried pickles, gator, and calamari were all great. The coconut shrimp was disappointing. Main dishes: No one was super impressed with their meals. Stuffed shrimp were over cooked so they were stuck to the bottom of the pan. They were ok, but not what they rave about. Crab legs were good but served cold. Bbq shrimp were weird; they need to change that. No one liked them at our party of 8. Burger seemed like a bubba burger and not fresh. Cheese grits were over cooked. Mac and cheese was ok. Everything was just..ok. Sunset grill was closed today and the only reason we visited this place. It kinda ended up being a let down, but we still had a good time.

Pretty good. Service was very good. This place is located on tge intercoastal so the views are really nice. Did the shrimp 3 way for me. One complaint when you have saucy shrimp remove ALL the tail so you can eat with a fork and not worry about getting sticky fingers. Sides were black eyed peas and mashed potatoes. Candyce did the chicken fried steak and said it was very tender. Just the one gotcha but that is me..... Other than that.... pretty good and food was great.

We had the sweetest waitress! We'd visit again just to be seated in her section. She was so friendly and very accommodating. The $5 Thursday margaritas was amazing but the food! The food was one of the best meals we had all week. We will definitely be back soon!

We haven't been to the Salt Water Cowboys for years, and were concerned about a number of the reviews on Yelp. I didn't realize, the previous owners had sold, and there are new proprietors. All our concerns were for naught. We arrived at 5:00, and were immediately greeted by 2 lovely hostesses. The restaurant opens on Friday at 4:PM, and our friends were already waiting for us in a booth. The restaurant is very rustic, Old Florida, and cozy. There is outdoor seating, but today was hot, and stormy, so it was not an option. Our waitress, Gabby, took the drink offers, and she was quite attentive. We had not seem our friends in ages, so there was no rush to put on our orders. We enjoyed the drinks. We decided on 1/2 Rack of Babyback Ribs, Blackened Shrimp, soups and side salads. The creamy corn and crab soup was especially delicious. The food was very good. We didn't have a long wait from ordering and being served. The portions are generous.. There was no room for dessert. Congratulations to the new owners. You are doing great.

Glad we did! We ended up walking there and it was easy to get to. When we walked inside, we were able to get a table inside right away. It was clean and cutely decorated. Our server came by quickly and got our drink and food order in. I ordered the breakfast tacos (comes with 2 good sized tacos) - sooooooooo good! They hit the spot! What got me... it had goat cheese on it! It was delicious. My husband got the fish tacos and he said they were good too! Definitely a great place for breakfast and lunch if you're in the area!! For our visit this time they said about a 30 minute wait which was actually 20 minutes. The vibe of the place is very cool with the old jukebox and a bar as well as tables both inside and outside. We were seated outside this visit which was fine as it was shady. I had the corned beef has with hash browns and 2 sunny side eggs. The corned beef is full of shredded corned beef with just a small amount of potatoes. The hash browns with onions were nice and crispy as I asked and the eggs were cooked nicely with the right amount of run when broken. My wife has the Classic Breakfast which is somewhat similar to what I had but with no meat. Hers was done nicely too. Thanks for a nice visit and see you the next time we're back to St. Augustine Beach!

Friendly, attentive, efficient and professional. She made our experience here seamless and very enjoyable! You couldn't ask for better service. She gave great food recommendations. Also, Jeff (the manager) stopped by our table, took the time to chat with us and made us feel right at home. We appreciated the old-school St. Augustine Southern hospitality that has been lost since the inevitable growth of the area. You definitely can't go wrong with their Fried Shrimp and Chicken Wings (loved the flavors of that buttery Garlic Parm)! Both seasoned and cooked to perfection. The ample outside seating steps away from the beach, feeling the breeze off of the Atlantic Ocean, a truly laid-back atmosphere, sunburnt tourist watching and counting all the Jeeps heading out to brave the soft sand while enjoying an ice cold beer or sweet tea...so priceless.

She started us out with baked oysters and they were good, but it was too much bacon and cheese for me personally. It overwhelmed the oyster flavor, but if you're trying oysters for the first time or wanna please a picky group then these are good. My daughter got the stuffed flounder with corn casserole as we called it, as her side. It was delicious! Probably the best thing ordered! Tacos and kids grilled fish was great too! Definitely a solid amount of fish nuggets in the taco. The fries were some of the best ive ever had. For the seafood feast, we ordered scampi style and it was good, but it reminded me of a clam sauce style, not really buttery and garlicky. It was still good, but what disappointed me was the melted plastic bag served at the table. It was difficult to open, even our server had trouble opening. Idk why everyone loves serving food in plastic bags. It's sooo hot from the steam that plastic leaches into the food. I don't get the infatuation with this, unless you're ordering to go. The fans upstairs are a nice and necessary touch and not too hot up there, despite being summer in July. I would go back and order the stuffed flounder again! Seriously, that was the best thing we ordered. Ashley was johnny on the spot too!

Our server was attentive at the start--she took drink orders as each portion of our group arrived and kept things moving smoothly. As we got closer to closing time (2:00 PM), service shifted a bit. About 15 minutes before closing, as we were wrapping up, our server stopped checking in. This was our first visit, though friends in our group had been once before and described it as "just okay," which felt accurate to us as well. We always like supporting local spots, and this was an easy meeting location, so we were hopeful. It's also worth noting they currently hold a strong 4.5 rating, and it seems like many locals really enjoy this place. That said, the biggest drawback for us was the portion size compared to the pricing. One person in our group ordered a Reuben, and the meat didn't even cover the bottom slice of bread--with not enough to redistribute. The fries portion was very small (more like a kids' serving), and the plate was around $13. That seemed to be the general theme--nothing tasted bad, but nothing stood out, and portions felt light across the board. Atmosphere-wise, it's what you'd expect from a diner--casual, relaxed, and easygoing. We'd consider going back for convenience, but it's not a place we'd go out of our way for. With a few adjustments--especially around portion sizes--this could easily match the reputation it already seems to have with locals.
