Historic old and grand hotel with an impressive front porch and architecture. Once upon a time,…read morethis was a college for young ladies. We had read mixed reviews of the hotel and had chosen not to stay here, but we came to tour it. We were allowed to wander the public areas, but the front desk refused to allow us to look into any vacant rooms, not even one. Which is unusual considering the reviews and their pricing and do I want to stay for 3 nights at $350 ish per night when I'm concerned about the mixed reviews without being able to see what I'm renting. Nevertheless, walking the halls, the rooms being service had their doors open and we could glance in as we passed by. The inn is grand, for sure. The library and fireplaces are very welcoming in atmosphere, decor and interesting artifacts and such. However, it is unlikely that we would choose to stay here for more than one night, the rooms were not "wowing", especially as compared to the grandeur of some of the public rooms. So we will give it a try, but for this trip, our VRBO is more than satisfactory.
