    Cheese burger and cheese dog

My parents always come here. Tonight they invited myself and my fiancé to join. The band playing tonight was "The 90's band." All music from when I was growing up and what I listen to now. There also wasn't a cover to get in, which was great. You order your food at the counter and wait for your buzzer to go off. It didn't take long at all. I had a Caesar salad and added shrimp. There was a generous amount of shrimp too. The shrimp had a nice sear. My fiancé got a cheeseburger and a cheese dog, which he said was just okay. My mom enjoyed her coconut shrimp. My stepdad didn't like his clam strips at all. Why? There wasn't any clam! It was all breading. Not one iota of clam was present. The fries it came with were crisp and had some good flavor though. Drinks were a little pricey, but that's expected. My fiancé said the men's bathroom was absolutely disgusting. He also said there was an attendant in there telling folks which stalls were free. This is all good, but with an attendant he doesn't feel the bathroom should've been as gross as it was. I cannot speak of the ladies room as I didn't use it. Parking isn't the best either.

Had such a great first experience at Salt Shack. We came on a Monday afternoon for the August family night- they had bouncy houses, face painting, popcorn and balloon animals all free of charge for the kids. Drinks and food are ordered in different stations. Drinks were 2 for 1 until 6pm. We ordered at the food counter and then searched for an open table. The lobster roll was amazing! And the drinks were so good! Such a nice place on the beach to visit during the summer time.

We hung out at the Salt Shack last Night after a nice afternoon at the beach. The place is nice, the music good "DJ Theo" drinks good, we didn't try the food cause we were too busy dancing. Service was good and fast. We danced the night away, everyone had a good times we'll def come back. Go check out this place guys! We need more spots like this in NY.

First time at Cedar Beach and enjoyed every bit of it! A staycation that felt like an actual vacation. It was about an hour drive from Howard Beach for us but we get a room Friday night-Sunday close y so we don't have to drive further and explore the town a bit. Entry for non-residents is $40 and free for Babylon residents but totally worth it. Just be sure to arrive earlier, it can get busy and while parking is ample, it can fill up. The beach itself and Salt Shack is clean and well taken care of. Salt Shack was such a lively and fun vibe. Plenty of outdoor seating on the sand with comfortable seats or picnic tables. Plenty of drink and food options. The staff are great, just overall great visitors and people all around. Definitely the go-to for weekends during the Summer!

Honestly, I'm just confused with this place. My husband and I ate here the other night after seeing beautiful photos of Salt Shack. It really feels like you're at a tropical oasis! Unfortunately, that was pretty much the only best part. Not sure why, but my husband and I were expecting a sit down meal, not an "order at the counter and take your tray to a table" type of place. Oh well. My husband ordered carne asada and I ordered chicken fingers and fries with no salt, but guess what?! They couldn't make the fries without salt because they are already prepared with them on!! That's a first. The kids at the cashier couldn't have been bothered. Food was average. Fries weren't that great. The place has way too many entrances and exits that I felt like we were queuing for a ride. I wouldn't come back here again.

Can you set up on the beach with a blanket and chairs an umbrella and still go up and get food and drinks? During the day?

    Yes you can .

Is it kid friendly and do they take reservations for parties of 10 or more?

Its a beach bar type of place. Kids can run on the beach right outside the Salt Shack. My only gripe is that bar drinks are very expensive.

What time are they open until? Is this a good spot for a night like 7pm on?

Salt Shack is open nightly until 11pm It's a great spot for any night like 7pm on.…

Depending on your timing, you can park in the available lot on site or even in the LIRR station across the street. On a saturday night, me and my friends ended up waiting 30 mins for a table which wasn't terrible! To start, we ordered the Capri Sun, a seasonal Mango 2 Tango cocktail and a spinach artichoke dip to start. The Capri Sun was phenomenal . A perfect blend of Pacific Cooler and vodka served in a cute lil pouch. The Mango 2 Tango had a good jalapeno kick and the spinach artichoke dip was torn into with an extra serving of tortilla chips. Once we got our main courses though, that's when things started to go downhill. I ordered the hot honey fried chicken sandwich and was underwhelmed. I was expecting a craggy hunk of chicken but, it was just a chicken cutlet surrounded by ciabatta. No hot honey taste, and I had to utilize the ketchup to give it some moistness. The seasoned fries were good though. Around our table, everyone was kind of whelmed with their entrees as well. Even the desserts, deconstructed brownies, were a let down as well. Dry brownies with too much plain peanut butter to make it palatable. Overall, I appreciate the mission. And maybe for drinks alone, this place is excellent. But maybe, pass on the food.

Happy hour at the bar is from 12-7pm with the bar bites available after 4pm. The place is very nicely decorated and exudes an upscale but unpretentious vibe. I ordered a glass of the pinot noir which was tasty and at $6 a nice bargain. I got the chickpea fries and was surprised by the texture. It was almost custard like with a slight chickpea flavor in a very light breading. Served with the harissa aioli it made for a nice app. After a while I decided to try the Filet mignon sliders, which I ordered medium rare, the bartender said they don't usually take a temp on those but he'd note it. The meat is sliced very thin but was tender and still had a bit of red. The arugula gave it a nice peppery bite. My only critic is the slider roll was very cottony, but the overall taste was very good. I'll definitely be back and will try something off the regular menu.

As mentioned they try to offer fresh, seasonal apps, handhelds, salads and entrees. The protein entree options only offer two to three chicken, pork, steak, seafood selections along with a couple of pasta infused dishes. They have a full bar, so if a beer or cocktail is wanted you do have options there as well. The Mr selected the Chilled Shrimp & Crab Stack, but eliminated the hard boiled egg aspect and thought it was light, tasty and refreshing. I opted for the Faroe Salmon with shrimp that came accompanied/on top of a risotto and peas. I thought cooked medium was perfect making it soft and fork flaky to mix along together. It was a very juicy sizable piece making it very filling. We didn't have time for a dessert, but noted they did have a few offerings there. Also noted they had very well kept mens/woman's and family restroom with baby changing table. Thanks! Would highly recommend this location to others.

I'll work back with this!! I ordered the bone marrow fries and the crab and scallop ricotta croquette pappardelle. I received a huge dish of bone marrow fries and immediately knew that it was too much for me to consume in this setting. The bone marrow fries were not too bad a little salty in some areas. The crab and scallop pappardelle & ricotta croquette and pappardelle pasta was okay as well. This dish was soothing and not too harsh for my stomach and offered a mild flavor. So when I walked in with my casual attire "all eyes on me" as I stood there to wait for an employee to approach me because I didn't know the procedures, whether I should just grab a seat or not. A Caucasian couple walked in behind me as I was waiting and came and stood in front of me. The guy behind the bar comes around gives them a seat and stood by me asking how can he help me. After I told him my business there he told me to have a seat. I recognize Mike and introduced myself. He welcome me back and tension was lifted a little but all the while I was there it was awkward for a brown person to sit alone and dine in. Interaction from the staff just felt forced. I wasn't expected preferential treatment just equal treatment. Normally I'd walk out just like the 6 people that came in and walked out while I was sitting. I really want to give 3 stars but I will let the consistency of 4 to 5 stars continue. Although there are two ratings lower than 3 stars. There's actually a hilarious story behind why I went. I was originally supposed to have a date that night, but let's be real: you'd think a 61-year-old man would know better than to take a 47-year-old woman to Dave & Buster's. I canceled the night before, dolled myself up the day of, and decided to take myself out instead. Best decision ever. The joint is dimly lit. But your eyes wind up adjusting. It's got a great vibe. Definitely excellent for a date night. The bartenders here are absolute rockstars. I started with a Painkiller. Even though it's no longer on the menu, they whipped it up for me anyway--and hey, it definitely relieved my pain, lol! Next, I tried a Corpse Reviver just because it had absinthe in it. It was different, but I really enjoyed it. Naturally, I had to finish with my signature drink, a Cosmopolitan, because I am the Black Carrie Bradshaw of Long Island. And it did not disappoint. The eats: I got the charcuterie board--fancy and bougie, just like me--and wrapped up the night with the brownie à la mode for dessert. Drowning my troubles in sweets is a must when the Long Island dating pool is an absolute wasteland, lmao. Did I want to spend my night around teenagers, kids, and skee-ball? HELL NO! Whether you're looking to grab a drink, share some appetizers, or sit down for dinner, it's a great setting. The flatbread is an absolute must-order, it was outstanding and easily the favorite dish of the night. The burrata and baked clams were also very good. For our entrees, my dad and I both ordered burgers. While they were flavorful, they were unfortunately overcooked. I ordered mine medium and my dad ordered medium-rare, but neither burger had any pink in the center. My wife ordered the Tuna Sliders from the appetizer menu and they weren't what she expected; she said she wouldn't order them again. My mother enjoyed the French Dip and thought it was very good from what I tried. Magnolias serves "cottage fries" instead of traditional French fries. They're essentially thick-cut fried potato slices--more like a hearty potato chip. While it's an interesting twist, I'm a French fry person and personally prefer traditional fries. My wife and I both ordered the truffle cottage fries, and they came out quite soggy, likely from sitting in too much oil. We mentioned it to our waitress, who agreed after seeing them and kindly removed them from the bill. Overall, Magnolias has a great atmosphere, excellent appetizers, and a unique setting that makes it worth visiting. While there were a few issues with some of our entrees and sides, I'd definitely return, especially for drinks and appetizers in the courtyard.
