Had such a great first experience at Salt Shack. We came on a Monday afternoon for the August family night- they had bouncy houses, face painting, popcorn and balloon animals all free of charge for the kids. Drinks and food are ordered in different stations. Drinks were 2 for 1 until 6pm. We ordered at the food counter and then searched for an open table. The lobster roll was amazing! And the drinks were so good! Such a nice place on the beach to visit during the summer time.

We hung out at the Salt Shack last Night after a nice afternoon at the beach. The place is nice, the music good "DJ Theo" drinks good, we didn't try the food cause we were too busy dancing. Service was good and fast. We danced the night away, everyone had a good times we'll def come back. Go check out this place guys! We need more spots like this in NY.

First time at Cedar Beach and enjoyed every bit of it! A staycation that felt like an actual vacation. It was about an hour drive from Howard Beach for us but we get a room Friday night-Sunday close y so we don't have to drive further and explore the town a bit. Entry for non-residents is $40 and free for Babylon residents but totally worth it. Just be sure to arrive earlier, it can get busy and while parking is ample, it can fill up. The beach itself and Salt Shack is clean and well taken care of. Salt Shack was such a lively and fun vibe. Plenty of outdoor seating on the sand with comfortable seats or picnic tables. Plenty of drink and food options. The staff are great, just overall great visitors and people all around. Definitely the go-to for weekends during the Summer!

Honestly, I'm just confused with this place. My husband and I ate here the other night after seeing beautiful photos of Salt Shack. It really feels like you're at a tropical oasis! Unfortunately, that was pretty much the only best part. Not sure why, but my husband and I were expecting a sit down meal, not an "order at the counter and take your tray to a table" type of place. Oh well. My husband ordered carne asada and I ordered chicken fingers and fries with no salt, but guess what?! They couldn't make the fries without salt because they are already prepared with them on!! That's a first. The kids at the cashier couldn't have been bothered. Food was average. Fries weren't that great. The place has way too many entrances and exits that I felt like we were queuing for a ride. I wouldn't come back here again.

This is a very popular spot that's right on the beach. The atmosphere is pretty fun and the best part is the live music. The band is pretty good, and there's also a dj that plays in between sets. The crowd here is pretty diverse, with everyone just having a good time dancing and enjoying the music. I've been here a few times and it's always fun! The lines for drinks and food are separate and are usually pretty long. I was not particularly impressed with the food, I got chicken fingers and French fries, and my friend got a wrap with sweet potato fries. The drinks were OK, just a bit watered down. If you come earlier in the day, you'll need to pay $40 for parking, which is probably why it's so crowded later at night when the parking is free. Set your expectations accordingly and go for the music and fun beach atmosphere, and you will have a great time.

Salt shack is a nice place to visit if you're mainly going to enjoy the beach. Non- resident will need to pay $40 for parking. The food was ok. I got a burger and coconut shrimp. I heard their salads are really good from other patrons. Drinks were a decent price. There is no waiter service here. You order your food and self seat. The outdoor seating is nice if not too hot. You can then walk to the beach or take shuttle.

Avocado salad with grilled chicken and a strawberry daiquiri and margarita mix

The atmosphere and environment itself was safe comfortable and clean. The food was good of course I had the avocado salad with grilled chicken. The drinks were OK. It could've been a little stronger. The service was good no complaints.

Great place to come down to enjoy the sunset and a cocktail while listening to live music! Truly feels like you're on vacation.

Always wanted to try the Salt Shack, the old OBI. So, on a warm Saturday night we took a ride to Salt Shack to see what it's all about. We arrived just before 6 and it was already hopping. Found a parking spot rather quickly since it was early. Had no idea if it was sit down or counter service, well it was all counter service and sit wherever was available. There were several counters for drinks and food and a bar on the beach. We ordered our drinks, my wife had the Pain Killer (Captain Morgan, Malibu, cream of coconut, pineapple and orange juice) and I had a Frozen Original Margarita - Made with Silver Olmeca Altos Tequila. Both drinks were pretty good even though my margaritas I make at home are better. We received our drinks, and the food line was stating to grow so I went to the beach to grab a table and my wife stood on line for our fish and chips dinners. There were tables inside and plenty of tables on the beach. There were more room on the beach and a nice evening, so it was a good choice. Diso Unlimited was the band that night, they have bands almost every night in the summer. We hung out, drinking and eating. The fish and chips were very good, crispy fish and crispy fries. Not a healthy portion of fish but plenty of fries. Even though the band came out late we enjoyed the music. Then it was time for a second drink, my wife had another Pain Killer and I wanted to try something different, so I went with the Rocket Fuel (Cruzan Rum, pina colada, amaretto and 151 floater) It was pretty good, now I will try to make it home and compare. We continued to hang and enjoy the music, drinks and the atmosphere. By 9 PM we were there for a little over 3 hours and time to go, now it was chaotic, we went to use the restrooms and the lady's line was so long now there were women in the men's room. Luckily there was a staff member in the men's directly all ladies in the stalls and my wife said there was also someone in the lady's room keeping everyone moving like a drill sergeant. Salt Schack is a cool place to hang with good vibes on hot days with some drinks, food and music. Definitely a beach restaurant. Would return and will enjoy since I know what to expect, could be a good time.

lots of improvements to this place since my last visit.there are four large sitting areas one inside the restaurant another on the deck outside were there is a stage for entertainment, another large area on the beach with umbrellas and a beautiful roof deck.they also have a nice menu selection and the coconut shrimp and fries I had were good.the bar has a large selection of cocktails and beer and my rum Punch and wifey's margarita were delicious.

Whether dining in or ordering takeout, the food takes far longer than expected. Takeout orders are routinely 15 minutes or more past the quoted pickup time, which is frustrating when you're planning your day around their estimate. Service has also been inconsistent. The waitstaff often seems disorganized, and communication regarding delays is lacking. I understand restaurants get busy, but after multiple visits, the same problems keep occurring. You can risk parking on the main road, but there are parking lots nearby that are much more convenient. The speakeasy style vibe is very cool and the open bar/kitchen is fun to watch the guys behind it work their magic. Staff were friendly and very helpful, but my one qualm was that our server opted to try and just remember our order by heart rather than writing it down, everything came out right, but he did have to confirm with us that he had the order right. Starting with cocktails, which I think is where this place really shines, I got the pistachio martini and their signature old fashioned. On top of just how pretty the drinks are, they match it with the quality. The old fashioned is one of the better ones I've had and was my favorite of the two, but I'm not sure you can go wrong with any choice on their list! Then for food, we started with the blackened scallops and the pork belly empanadas. Both were tasty but the empanadas were my personal favorite of the two. The scallops felt a little over seasoned, but obviously not to the point of being inedible. For mains, I got the lamb meatballs, and I tried a bit of my girlfriend's steak sandwich. The meatballs and sauce were just as good as any Italian place I've been to and perfect serving size. The steak sandwich though was served on THE softest ciabatta I've ever tasted but still held together well and made for an excellent, albeit huge, sandwich. I think she beat me out by just a hair on this one. I had really wanted to get their grilled cheese and tomato soup, but they had just run out, but I think they were just coming up with an elaborate ruse to get me to come back! Well, it's working, because I will absolutely comeback for more cocktails and that grilled cheese! We sat at the very last table in the restaurant, and this raises my only other concern, when the kitchen doors would swing open, you would get a quick smell of that garbage kind of smell which was a little off putting, but it wasn't constant enough where we were bothered to be asked to move our table, but food for thought. Surfing up just a few small things could easily have this place up to 5 stars from 4.

The Brixton is a beautiful restaurant with very relaxed and casual vibes. The word around town is that their drinks are awesome. What about their food, though? They originally would not seat us in the middle of the afternoon because most of the empty tables were reserved. We had to request to sit outside, which was empty, before they decided to serve us. Odd that they did not even offer that to us. The General Tso' Cauliflower was the only great thing served to us. It is incredibly crispy and flavorful. You almost forgot that you were eating a piece of vegetable at times. The Short Rib Brisket Sesame burger was shocking. $18 for two White Castles-sized sliders. It was easily consumed, and I was left much to be desired. This is most definitely an appetizer item, not an entree. The Chicken Waffle was good. Nicely deep-fried and packs a lot of flavor. The waffle looked dubious. If I had to guess, it might not be mad fresh to order. Essentially, it's 3 drumsticks/wings over a possibly frozen Eggo waffle. I would recommend a second dish if you are looking to get full. The Steak frites and Eggs Benedict were the final dishes served. It is hard to mess these dishes up, but the ribeye was nicely seasoned and cut up. The dishes were nicely displayed. Overall, this is just an OK experience. When the deep-fried cauliflower appetizer is the most memorable dish here, it is quite alarming. Portion sizes are on the small end, and none of the flavors for the entrees really stuck out. Perhaps I will come here strictly for the drinks next time.

Whether you're looking to grab a drink, share some appetizers, or sit down for dinner, it's a great setting. The flatbread is an absolute must-order, it was outstanding and easily the favorite dish of the night. The burrata and baked clams were also very good. For our entrees, my dad and I both ordered burgers. While they were flavorful, they were unfortunately overcooked. I ordered mine medium and my dad ordered medium-rare, but neither burger had any pink in the center. My wife ordered the Tuna Sliders from the appetizer menu and they weren't what she expected; she said she wouldn't order them again. My mother enjoyed the French Dip and thought it was very good from what I tried. Magnolias serves "cottage fries" instead of traditional French fries. They're essentially thick-cut fried potato slices--more like a hearty potato chip. While it's an interesting twist, I'm a French fry person and personally prefer traditional fries. My wife and I both ordered the truffle cottage fries, and they came out quite soggy, likely from sitting in too much oil. We mentioned it to our waitress, who agreed after seeing them and kindly removed them from the bill. Overall, Magnolias has a great atmosphere, excellent appetizers, and a unique setting that makes it worth visiting. While there were a few issues with some of our entrees and sides, I'd definitely return, especially for drinks and appetizers in the courtyard.

The fries were a perfect balance of soft but crisped with the creme drizzle and pickled onions. :* The Shishito slaw was a summery, crunch lightly dressed which has me wanting and requesting more the next visit. They should definitely add that as one of their regular listed sides. My husband had a burger with regular slaw and an old fashioned styled cocktail which he mentioned to be exceptional as well. Women-owned and operated, and you can truly feel the heart behind everything they do. We started with the roasted beet salad -- light, fresh, and the perfect opening for what was to come. Then the feast began....elote, cajun lime BBQ wings, mussels, tuna tostadas, chicken taquito, carne asada taco, and pernil with rice & beans... and WOW. Every single dish had its own unique flavor that kept me wanting more. * The elote was seasoned perfectly * Wings were crispy and literally finger-lickin' good * Mussels came in a rich, delicious Cajun cream sauce * Tuna tostada had a delicious soy-sesame glaze * Chicken taquito = crisp perfection * Carne asada taco cooked perfectly * Pernil with rice and beans was a perfect marriage of flavors To finish it all off was churro bites which was the sweetest ending. I also had a classic margarita which was fantastic. Service was just as impressive as the food...waters were never empty and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. They even provided us wet-naps after both the elote and wings. I cannot wait to come back. Thank you for taking such great care of our private party!
