Went to Saltgrass today to celebrate husband's birthday. Whoever was cooking today was amazing! The last time we ate here, the Brussels sprouts were so over cooked, to the point of being burned almost beyond recognition. Even after I sent them back and they made a new order, the new order was better but still way overcooked. Today they were perfect! I've attached a picture. I also had the ribs with bbq shrimp. Ribs were fall off the bone tender and the shrimp were so decadent. Absolutely perfect. The only complaint was that service was pretty slow. Not sure if it was an understaffing issue or what. Our server was very nice and took good care of us. It just seemed like everything took longer than normal to come out. We had dessert to celebrate the birthday and they were huge and so delicious. We agreed, again, that we could just eat dessert here and be completely happy. read more

My wife and I tried Saltgrass in Tyler this week and man was it good! Our waitress (Ritchie) was the best. She was there when we need her, and basically did a great job! We had the shrimp cocktail for an appetizer. The shrimp were large and the cocktail sauce was great. Then we had the Wedge salad. Very large Wedge ! Excellent! My steak (hamburger steak) with mushrooms and onions was very tasty. Cooked just right and the loaded baked potato was good too. Customer Service was HORRIBLE!!! Food was cold by the time they gave it to me on a To-Go order. My order was supposed to be ready in 20 minutes, I waited an extra 20 minutes passed the ready time. The To-Go host left and went home and did not give any details or updates on my order. Finally, the bartender noticed that I had been waiting for a while and asked me if I was waiting on an order. So, the bartender is the one who went to go and retrieve my COLD food, that had probably been ready. This was definitely my last time patronizing this restaurant. Made my yearly visit to saltgrass today and was very pleased with the service and food. Received my meal in a very timely manner and my only regret was when I found out that they no longer served potato au gratin, but I had the most amazing asparagus cooked to perfection and well seasoned,I also had the sautéed mushroom. We love coming to Saltgrass! When you come here, be prepared to eat. The brown bread they serve when you are seated is decadently delightful. I recommend the fried mushrooms as a shared appetizer (they are scrumptious). And their steaks... tender, juicy, and plentiful. The servers are friendly, will help you make the right choice, and are very attentive to customer needs. If you meet Big Lucas, be prepared to laugh. KJ (the manager) has trained her staff perfectly. Sad, sad, sad.... the 12 oz. Pat's Ribeye was served at almost 1/4" thick so obviously medium rare was out of the question, more like medium well. The asparagus was hardly cooked and too crunchy to eat. My advise is to keep looking for a steakhouse as this one has gone down hill. read more

This was my first experience at Saltgrass and I was not impressed. I got the soup & salad. The salad was huge and very good but i was only given a small ramekin of dressing, which didn't cover much and the baled potato soup looked like there were grits in it and the potatoes were very waxy. My husband and kiddos ate here last week. Food was great. Our server was good as well. What I had a problem with was a manager. The manager Kimberly? She came by our table just checking on us. She was very rude and short with us. She might have been having a bad day, but that does not excuse how she was to my family. Went in last Sunday night and sat in the lounge. Outstanding service, good food and loved the fact that the music was not blaring. It was nice to have a pleasant conversation and drinks that were worth the price, meaning they were not skimpy. So I had went into the restaurant once before and had excellent food, friendly service but a server that was still learning. Went first time for my son, as he wanted to try for his birthday dinner. The meat mediocre at best. Plenty of servers so that was good. The best item for me was the fried shrimp. A little spicy, but large and cooked well . I will give them a 9 if you like shrimp. Also expensive. $150 for 6 . I was only one had a small beer. read more

Disappointing... very inconsistent with service and the kitchen needs an overhaul! The temperature on a steak means nothing, flavor depends on who is working that day, and the overall attitude of those working in the kitchen seems negative as servers are afraid/nervous to ask for things to be done right. Maybe I'm just Old School and figure that folks want to honor each others work ethic... problem is, servers and bartenders expect 20% or greater when providing less than attentive service and the cooks are just angry in general. This restaurant needs a lot of staff training!!! read more

Our dinning experience began with sitting for 10 mins before anyone comes to the table. During that time 2 wait staff & 1 mgr walk by with nothing. Average service from this point until the steaks come both ordered MR. They come, one is WD the other Med at best. Unfortunately no one comes by to check to see if steaks are ok, so hubby had to track someone down. Waiter finally comes & immediately says the steaks are wrong. 20 min later new stakes come. They are ok but still service is lacking. We get the usual mgr visit say sorry. End of experience was a full price ticket for mediocre steaks that I had to wait an extra 45 mins to get because they can't cook a steak correctly. I gave him a 10% tip because it wasn't all his fault but know I tip VERY well for good service so he did miss out. When I left I told the Doe eyed mgr how disappointed I was in the entire experience that I would never go to another Salt Grass. She didn't look like she really cared & pretty much said nothing. I just dropped almost $200 in your place for a meal for 2 & you aren't concerned about my piss poor service. read more

This was my first visit and I will definitely be back! The meal was superb; very tender and flavorful steak, cooked to perfection. The soup starter was delicious as was the rice side. Initially when we got there for lunch is the staff was courteous and worked quickly. We got our drinks and salads very quickly. My husband's salad was to have Thousand Island Dressing. On my husbands steak he ordered the Cajun Ribeye cooked to medium. It had a mixed sauce with veggies and crabmeat, or they said it did. His steak was not just well done, but REALLY, REALLY well done. His also didn't have any crab on it, which it should have been. For mine I got a ribeye to be cooked to medium with grilled shrimp, My salad should have Ranch on it. I could only locate maybe less than a teaspoon of dressing. My steak was just as my husband's, way overcooked. As with his lunch with no crabmeat, there was no shrimp on mine at all. They did bring an order of the overcooked shrimp after I said something. This was by far the worst Saltgrass we have ever visited. They did discount the ticket by about half. I assume they think that was fair, considering that all of the food had some sort of problem with it. All in all, I don't think we will visit this Saltgrass again. read more

Came for my dads birthday and it could have been better. Everyone enjoyed the meals but me to be honest mine was mid. I got a cheese burger but the patty was overcooked and tasted burnt, only thing I liked were the Brussels sprouts. My dad asked to have a smaller Quaso with chips and they charged us for the one with brisket. The manager came to check on the issue but didn't do anything but apologize. I have been to many Saltgrass Restaurants in the chain. The Tyler location on Broadway is by the far the best I have been to so far on many occasions. I went for my 4th or 5th visit today. I sat in the bar area today for the second time and Lucas was my server. He was outstanding!! And I must say, so was the server in the bar by a different name I saw a couple months ago, and the server I had in the main dining room the visit before. The reason this is the best location is that they are the most consistent! The steaks are always perfectly cooked and I like mine medium, and so does my wife. She also said today, the shrimp was the best she has had in Texas! She is by far more a foodie than me. We are foodies from the West Coast originally. It's more than just the steaks, all the sides are outstanding as well. Yelp has invited me many times to be a local expert/reviewer. I must say in the hundreds of restaurants I have reviewed across many platforms, this Saltgrass is among the best! Also, thank you to KJ the GM who checked on us at our table! I would give zero star, but I can't. I placed an order for curbside pick-up. I waited 15 minutes past the recommended pick-up time for someone to bring out my order. When I finally go inside, the hostess points to a table in the back and says "oh that may be your order back there". My food was no longer hot and the customer service was garbage.
