One of the most unique fusion restaurants: Mediterranean and Sushi. We decided to stay firmly on the Mediterranean side of the menu. We started with the crispy Brussel sprouts. The seasoning and topping were tasty. The sprouts were crispy, but a bit dry. We then had the carrot hummus with short ribs. It came with pita and we ordered raw veggies as well. This was one of the best hummus stylings I've ever had! The hummus was slightly sweet, the short ribs were savory and the crispy pieces on top made every bite "umami." For desert we tried the olive cake, also very good. The octopus and filet were perfectly tender and the salad was a nice complement of fresh flavors. We were in the neighborhood for my birthday and decided to go to this restaurant. Good decision on my wife's end because everything was delicious. My favorite thing on the menu by far was this whipped feta like appetizer that was just to die for. I would come back just to eat that. With these little baby peppers on the side. Great touch. Even the drinks were great! We came when it was happy hour so it was kind of empty unfortunately but hope this place is doing good because they deserve it. What a lucky find! I was staying at a nearby hotel and found this gem...and was in time for happy hour....and I'm a sucker for a good happy hour. This is a really nice place. Very classy, but not stuffy atmosphere. I ordered off the happy hour menu. You need to sit at the bar to order from the happy hour menu, but you won't mind because it's a nice bar. I had the HH Calamari$8, the HH Seafood Salad, $9, and the HH Filet Tips, $12. All were perfect!! Super high quality. I forgot the bartender's name, but he was awesome. I returned to this restaurant a few times after my original review when they first opened. That review wasn't very favorable. After giving it a few more chances, I realized I was wrong -- so I took it down and I fully retract those statements. Today, I can confidently say this is one of the better restaurants in the Rosemont entertainment area. It's a great spot for date night or a night out with friends. Our waitress delivered amazing service from start to finish. The drinks were excellent -- I had a Dirty Martini with blue cheese olives and Grey Goose vodka. Knocked it out of the park. We ordered the Kiss on Fire Maki Roll with seared salmon, tuna, and yellowtail -- fresh and delicious. The Spanish Octopus with corn purée, cherry peppers, sausage, and chimichurri was a standout -- a pleasant surprise and perfectly prepared. On a whim, I asked our waitress what appetizer she would recommend for us to share. She confidently suggested the Salmon Tartare. I was feeling adventurous and trusted her instinct -- and I'm glad I did. It ended up being my favorite dish of the night. The funny part? Afterward, she admitted she had never actually tried it herself -- she had just heard great feedback from other guests. After seeing how much I enjoyed it, she said she might finally give it a shot. Great space, delicious food and friendly service. The standout for me was the whipped feta and honey dish, which was amazing. The grilled bread and the creamy spread were so good! The baba ganoush was also very well seasoned with just the right amount of heat. The Baja roll was huge and very fresh. And the drinks we ordered were interesting and delicious. Came here on a Saturday evening right after happy hour. The place looked nice inside, somewhat dark despite the daylight outside because of what I assume are heavily tinted windows. We sat at the end of the bar where the servers congregate to put in their orders and chit chat. However, since our server was the bartender, service was slow despite the constant action in front of us. I had came here looking for some fish and chips based on a photo of the menu from last year. My fault not to confirm on the website that the menu had changed because it has changed. What used to be entree sized portions and prices for their seafood dishes are now smaller plates. No fish and chips either. I ordered the salmon and it was the cut of about half a filet. It was seasoned well in the Mediterranean style. Might as well been eating a fattier branzino. My friend had a lobster bisque which he didn't find exceptional. He had been hoping for a non-seafood entree from the previous menu and wasn't keen on ordering kebabs from the current one. read more

I had such high expectations for some of the seafood but some of them let us down. Our go to: The calamari was DELICIOUS. We got two orders of it. The potatoes were so perfectly crusted and soft on the inside. The baked oysters were so good! Skip: The octopus was something we all looked forward to it tasted just way too slimy! The pics were so cute and we were optimistic but when we got there at 5pm, with pretty much an empty restaurant, we were greeted by the host with an uppity "do you have reservations? No? And the manager dude who was also at the front, tell her "see if there's room." (In an annoyed way) Really? You basically have an empty restaurant and you're potentially going to turn a party of 4 away? Food was "tapas" style but nothing like Spanish tapas. It's just smaller plates. Rosemont is usually fun but I was pleasantly surprised it had such a good seafood restaurant! High quality seafood in a sit down restaurant in the Midwest is not easy to come by. Add to that it being reasonably priced and contain a menu that has everything from lobster rolls to sushi...this is a very rare find. The relatively new restaurant is an incoming tenant of the Rosemont entertainment complex which hosts a variety of venues. You can find pretty easy parking in the garage and it's an easy walk from there. The sea glass cocktail was refreshing to start. The sushi world specialty roll was amazing along with a very buttery lobster roll. Service was prompt, friendly and attentive. Overall a very good option in the area. read more

January 24, 2025 visit. Last evening provided a wonderful experience as we visited SALTWATER in Rosemont Illinois just 4 days after they introduced their new menu which we found to be FABULOUS!! They've reduced the number of items offered, which I always feel allows a restaurant to put more effort into making what they offer more special, and we were not disappointed. The menu features small plate dishes, like Tapas, usually enough to share but certainly won't fill you up allowing you to 'sample' more of the fabulous offerings. For this outing we were a party of four and we shared most everything. The service was spot-on, polite, respectful, and attentive but not obtrusive and the entire staff appeared to willingly assist each other with a smile. The seating has changed in this updated layout with booths running down the middle allowing easy access and egress for all should one need to leave the table during the visit. We all really liked that a lot. The ambiance is soft but not dark. We could read the menu without the help of our phones! Drinks arrived promptly and the foods we ordered arrived with perfect timing, nothing piled up on the table and empty plates were cleared quickly. As the name 'implies', Saltwater features seafoods and they also have a new Sushi Bar making both traditional and unique Maki Rolls. Here's what we ordered: COCKTAILS: To the chagrin of my table mates I sampled each cocktail, they were all unique, smooth and delicious. We'll go back just for drinks. One coffee drinker, about 8 cups (likely up all night) commented the coffee was "super good" while vibrating genly. Glow Up: gin, honey, lemon curd, elderflower... Painted Skies: reposado tequila, mango, guajillo, blueberry Sea Glass; Rum, blue curacao, pineapple, coconut, lime Wine: Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. Crisp and perfectly chilled. APPETIZERS: Raw Bar: Chilled Calabrian Octopus: Calabrese aioli, paprika oil, mango & cabbage slaw on kettle chips. I'd suggest that a slightly larger portion of octopus would allow for the chewier consistency one expects and enjoys from octopus to be more prominent. However, overall, great flavor and the kettle chip adds a nice crisp. Edamame Hummus: Light and fluffy, rich flavor served with a very good soft pita. Shrimp Cocktail: 4 Huge shrimp perfectly prepared (just the right crunch) and a perfect cocktail sauce. Whipped Feta: w/cherry tomatoes, roasted peppers, lemon oil w/ grilled sourdough. OMG, the feta was fabulous, and the accompanying sourdough was a perfect pairing. Cabbage & Potato Keftedes: Wow, totally creamy and melt in your mouth, the house tartar and mustard sauce were perfect. FROM THE GRILL: Bone-In Filet Tips: Mykonos relish, pomegranate seeds, herb-marinade. The flavor was spot-on, I could have ordered more... and more. Tender and juicy, perfectly prepared. Mediterranean Grilled Salmon: yellow pepper puree, mediterranean relish. Fresh, Flaky and fabulous. A bit small in portion, Good for 2 people. MAKI ROLLS: Baja Roll: panko shrimp, avocado, lean tuna, marinated jalapeños. The panko added a wonderful crunch, and the marinated jalapeños were surprisingly not over the top spicy though, they did provide a good heat once eaten. I don't like jalapeños, I liked these! Rosemont Roll: tuna, salmon, avocado, micro cilantro, Japanese spicy mayo, chili oil, lime. OK, what the heck is micro cilantro? (and who really cares?) This roll was fresh, perfectly chilled and the combination of spicy mayo and chili oil really added to the overall experience. Dragon Roll: panko shrimp, cucumber, unagi, avocado, spicy mayo, sweet soy reduction, soybean paper. Again, the panko adds a perfect crunch to this roll and, as I like eel, finding nice slices decorating the top makes this a favorite. DESSERTS: Caramel Mousse Cake. Chocolate, Caramel, Mousse, & More... and less, it's gluten free and very very good. Went in for my dad's birthday and have a delish time! Ambiance is summer vibes all day. The windows were open and the breeze came it, felt like a vacay resturant. Our server was very attentive and understood my father had a shellfish allergy so they were careful with cross contamination. Steak cooked beautifully, I forgot the name of the sushi but that was tasty. Shrimp and scallop pasta was a great size and flavorful. The local whitefish was amazing, but be careful with the bones! Not pictured are the oysters, hummus, and creme brûlée. The oysters are fresh, creme brûlée was just okay could be a bit sweeter and the hummus was just okay as well. Had high hopes for this one, but it was a major disappointment. Walked in-BEAUTIFUL space. We were seated next to a window in a booth, and the insulation from the outside was zero, so the -4 windchill was seeping in. Not a good start. We started with a pomegranate spread that was delicious but became cloying. While waiting for our drinks, the table next to ours was asked 3 times about whether or not the plates coming out were theirs. One of the women said, "is this a joke?" When drinks came out, my sake was pretty dinky in size. We got Brussels sprouts with feta on the side and it came out on top. Once we got the new order, the brussel sprouts were underdone for our liking and the feta on the side tastes like it had gone bad. The kebab we got came on a skewer and when split in half (shared plates) it felt ridiculous to have to pay $20 for it. The couscous underneath did nothing for the dish. Also-some woman was going around taking our picture. Not sure what that was for? So if you see a picture somewhere on their advertising of a smiling couple, know that that those people were laughing more at the oddity of their experience. Underwhelmed. My friends and I came here for brunch. Their brunch menu wasn't exciting. It was a lot basic breakfast entrees which is fine, but personally I wanted something that I couldn't make at home. Because of this, most of us got ordered the lunch entrees. I had the shrimp and scallop pasta that is made with a lobster cream sauce. The noodles were very thick and long. It was really good! I would order it again. We shared the kiss and fire sushi roll. It was drenched in sauce so I found it sweet. I usually eat nigiri and sashimi so that's probably why. Next time I'll have to try it. The interior was very nice. It does reminds me of the Hampton social. Service was great. A lot of the employees were checking up on us, making sure everything was okay. However, the French toast was extremely undercooked, and it was so doughy it stuck to the plate. You also only get 2 small pieces of banana. When we requested the check, it took 15 minutes for the waiter to come back. The kicker, he gave us the wrong check. It took another 15 minutes for him to come back. 30 minutes total!
