I got there early for a business dinner after walking from the outlet shops, so I first popped into the bar for a drink while I waited for the rest of my colleagues later that night for dinner. For a good 40 minutes in the bar, it was an absolute sausage fest. The only other females were those working, so it was a little uncomfortable. This is a manly place in general. A loud obnoxious table of meatheads was behind us at dinner but the steak was truly the best I've ever had so one must endure. I had the filet with peppercorn and our shared sides and apps sampled were crab cakes, mashed potatoes, double baked potatoes, and brussel sprouts. All stellar. We all split the famous macadamia nut turtle pie which easily served 8 people. Amazing meal but would be nice to throw a little estrogen in with the testosterone overload. I've never had a bad experience here, and this past visit was no exception. I came on a Saturday afternoon for lunch and was seated promptly. The staff and ambiance were lovely; for my main course I tried the steak sandwich which was really good. It came with fries, and instead of ordering an appetizer I ate the house chips (which are brought to the table for free.) My daughter went with the burger, and that was excellent. Huge portion and cooked to perfection. No one else at the table good anything special, which meant the bill was reasonable (about $40 a person.) I honestly did not expect to enjoy my experience at Gibsons. I had some friends that invited me to come with them so I did. I hate stuffy/fancy restaurants and I'm not a steak eater so I assumed that I was doomed. I was so, so wrong. When you walk in they have a wall of photos of famous patrons that have visited over the years. There's a very crowded bar area up front that a lot of people were waiting to sit at. We were able to be seated rather quickly even though the restaurant was very busy. They start you off with bread and a bowl of BBQ potato chips, which I thought was incredibly random. These aren't store bought chips. They were obviously made fresh and ours were still warm. The thing you have to understand about Gibsons is that while the prices are high, everything you get is enormous. We ordered a sweet potato appetizer and it was the size of a coconut. My club sandwich was at least 3-4 sandwiches with a large portion of wonderfully seasoned fries. My friends didn't miss out on steak like I did and they were quite happy with their meals. The service was absolutely impeccable. I can't remember our waiter but he was a nice young man with a mustache who was so helpful and patient with all of our questions (including what to do with the lemons that came with the hot towels after finishing). Ordered a filet and the Gibsons steak mushrooms, hash brown potatoes, and Brussel sprouts for the table. Was not impressed with the Brussel sprouts. Potatoes were good. This was my second visit and I learned that Gibson's is the only restaurant to have their own USDA beef offering. Our server brought a platter of meats, while giving us the specials of the night. Due to double steak dinner nights, I ended up getting the smaller 14oz ribeye along with shareable sides. We ordered shrimp cocktail and crab cakes as appetizers. Always a good choice! Steak was a little over cooked for a medium rare, but still very juicy and tender. I do recommend adding seasoned butter, if you like a richer flavor profile. My family and I came here on Thanksgiving. While they have lots of steak and seafood options, we all got the Thanksgiving dinner. For appetizer, we started with a bowl of lobster bisque. Gibson's is known for having a good selection on good quality beef cuts. They even offer grass fed meat from Australia. They also have a good amount of sides. I found that Gibson's is an old traditional steak house. I would not compare it to Texas Roadhouse or Outback. The quality here is a lot better. It is old and tradition;can tell by the sides they have to offer. Their food is excellent, but it didn't "wow" me. Again, nothing wrong with their food, but I found it alright. They cooked everything right per request. There is so much competition in Chicago so this would not be my number 1 pick. It is quite expensive here as well. I wouldn't think it is worth the price. My husband and I made reservations to Gibsons for our anniversary after receiving a nice gift card to the restaurant. Based off of the hype in the reviews for the Chicago cut, I knew that's what I had to order. My husband has been here before (my first time though) so he recommended that we get the twice baked potato, and my insistence on having something green on my plate led us to also order the Brussels sprouts. My steak was good, not the best steak I've ever had, but cooked to my desired doneness so I was happy enough with that. My husband ordered the farroe island grilled salmon which was absolutely delicious. The twice baked potato was very good, I'd liken the flavor to potatoes au'gratin. The Brussels sprouts were a little bit of a let down, I feel like they could have had more maple flavor. We also ordered some cocktails; I got the coconut Mai tai and my husband ordered the blackberry smash. Both cocktails were good, but nothing special. I ordered the 10oz filet medium rare and what I was served was a brick. Barely pink in the middle. Ugh. This place is the definitely coasting on its former reputation. Where to start... My wife and I hosted a one of my staff and her spouse for a celebratory dinner here tonight. Gibson's is one of the several places in Rosemont where parking yourself is not a workable option, so be ready to tip the valet when you leave. My wife is disabled and must use crutches most of the time. When we arrived, the regular door was locked from the outside, forcing patrons to only use the revolving door. Any patron with an access need should be aware that someone will need to enter and then open the regular door from the inside since revolving doors are incompatible with most crutches and all wheelchairs. They also had a bank stanchion blocking the regular door. I mentioned the inaccessibility of this to the manager when we checked in and was told it was a fire exit only. It makes no sense to place a barrier in front of a fire exit. The manager apologized, but made no offer of any concession at all. Ok. Not a great impression, but we'll make the best of it. The dining room is pretty cramped and navigating to and from the table is more like working your way across a club dance floor than through a restaurant. The atmosphere was very loud and a bit boisterous. It's Saturday evening and we weren't expecting a quiet dinner so this was fine. We settled in, and I propped my wife's crutches and a cane belonging to one of our guests on the bench seat between my seat and the adjacent table. After ordering and receiving our drinks, our server came by for the protein dog and pony show, where they talk about some of the steaks and seafood available. When she arrived, she wanted to stand between me and the neighboring table, so she scooped up the cane and crutches and pretty much just tossed them at me. Then she proceeded to move my beverages (grabbing the rim with thumb and all four fingers) so she could use the table in front of me for the display. She seemed fairly oblivious to any of that being impolite at all, leaving my water and drink in the middle of the table when she left. For the rest of the meal, she did not really improve. At one point, I explained that I could not hear her and asked her to repeat something. This prompted her to share that she also could not hear well, but then did not repeat what was requested or attempt to raise her voice or come nearer to be more easily understood. The food was almost ok. Lobster bisque had no actual lobster in it at all. Each of the three salads ordered were incorrect. My steak was fine. Nothing special. That's the issue. An $88 ribeye should stand out a little. This wasn't anything memorable at all. The filet was well short of the desired temperature. When you're all in for drinks, dinner, dessert at $150-175 per person, you expect something more. This was all just so-so food with bad service. Everything was sort of just going through the motions. Bottom line, Gibson's does not care. Not about their food. Not about their service. Not about their patrons. Especially not about any patrons with access needs. read more

Yes I came to a steakhouse and didn't get any steak lol, but the seafood, drinks, and dessert were enough for me to come back. We got the full garbage salad which was enough for 3 people; it came with a lot of random ingredients in it (shrimp, chicken, artichoke, tomatoes, etc) and it was the perfect accompaniment.
