Oh my goodness. This place was like wow. I was incredibly hungry and this place did not let us down. I haven't had steak that delicious in a long time. My husband and I shared the Chicago cut steak along with a house salad and a yummy potato. His colleague had the sweet potato and filet mignon. Shout out to the Gibson staff for their excellent customer service and props to the chef for their service and dedication to their steak cooking skills! Another warm shout out to our server, Millie! She was the best! So fun, kind, incredibly accommodating. Great experience overall! The ambiance was a hustle and bustle on a Wednesday evening. I think it is because there was a conference in town. My husband and I celebrated our 12-year anniversary yesterday and drove from Palatine, IL to dine at Gibson's. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. When we made the reservation, we specifically mentioned we were celebrating our anniversary. When we arrived, the host acknowledged it, and a manager even came to welcome us and wished us a happy anniversary. So it was clear the restaurant knew. Our server Alberto was attentive with checking in on us, but never acknowledged the anniversary during the meal. When he brought the check, he didn't say happy anniversary or acknowledge the occasion. We actually had to remind him. His response was, "Oh, good to know you're celebrating. Happy anniversary." We then had to ask if there was anything complimentary for the celebration? Seeing we've celebrated special occasions before, of course this was the Gibson in Chicago downtown and received thoughtful touches like a note or rose petals. Only after we asked " well, what do you guys do for your guest for celebrating " just to see what he would do or say , then he said " we only give a complementary scoop of ice cream ". Of course I know that was not true because the couple next to us got cake; however, I did say OK. Are you going to bring it out ? Alberto then go and bring a small scoop of ice cream with nothing that shows we appreciate you for choosing us happy anniversary on the plane plate Instead. He brought with what seems like a little attitude as he set the bowl on the table and the spoon, as you can see in the video then walks. It was like a waiter with no respect for us and he wanted us to leave. What was disappointing was not simply whether we received something complimentary, it was the lack of acknowledgement and not feeling that extra touch for a very special 12-year milestone, especially since we had told them ahead of time. Food, 5 out of 5. Service, 1 out of 5. Atmosphere, 1 out of 5. Overall, our night at Gibson's rosemont was less than satisfactory for such a meaningful milestone. read more

I got there early for a business dinner after walking from the outlet shops, so I first popped into the bar for a drink while I waited for the rest of my colleagues later that night for dinner. For a good 40 minutes in the bar, it was an absolute sausage fest. The only other females were those working, so it was a little uncomfortable. This is a manly place in general. A loud obnoxious table of meatheads was behind us at dinner but the steak was truly the best I've ever had so one must endure. I had the filet with peppercorn and our shared sides and apps sampled were crab cakes, mashed potatoes, double baked potatoes, and brussel sprouts. All stellar. We all split the famous macadamia nut turtle pie which easily served 8 people. Amazing meal but would be nice to throw a little estrogen in with the testosterone overload. I could not be a bigger fan of this place. Everyone knows the food is top notch and it was this time as well. We were there on Saturday 8.29 for a 6:30 reservation. The host saw that it was our anniversary and so they brought us to a private table that was off to the side from everyone else.. Our server was flawless. Engaging, fun, thorough but also allowed us to have our night. A true professional. We split a 10 oz filet and she cut it for us. We also tried four sides and she and the busser made it all work. A manager named Dianne came by to congratulate us, gave us her card and bought my wife an espresso martini. That gesture will make us return to this location again and again. Finally we tried the macadamia turtle dessert and the one tip I have food wise from this visit is... you probably need 4 people who are still hungry to finish this dessert. I've never had a bad experience here, and this past visit was no exception. I came on a Saturday afternoon for lunch and was seated promptly. The staff and ambiance were lovely; for my main course I tried the steak sandwich which was really good. It came with fries, and instead of ordering an appetizer I ate the house chips (which are brought to the table for free.) My daughter went with the burger, and that was excellent. Huge portion and cooked to perfection. No one else at the table good anything special, which meant the bill was reasonable (about $40 a person.) I honestly did not expect to enjoy my experience at Gibsons. I had some friends that invited me to come with them so I did. I hate stuffy/fancy restaurants and I'm not a steak eater so I assumed that I was doomed. I was so, so wrong. When you walk in they have a wall of photos of famous patrons that have visited over the years. There's a very crowded bar area up front that a lot of people were waiting to sit at. We were able to be seated rather quickly even though the restaurant was very busy. They start you off with bread and a bowl of BBQ potato chips, which I thought was incredibly random. These aren't store bought chips. They were obviously made fresh and ours were still warm. The thing you have to understand about Gibsons is that while the prices are high, everything you get is enormous. We ordered a sweet potato appetizer and it was the size of a coconut. My club sandwich was at least 3-4 sandwiches with a large portion of wonderfully seasoned fries. My friends didn't miss out on steak like I did and they were quite happy with their meals. The service was absolutely impeccable. I can't remember our waiter but he was a nice young man with a mustache who was so helpful and patient with all of our questions (including what to do with the lemons that came with the hot towels after finishing). Steakhouse staple to stop by when in Chicago! The clients we visit in Chicago always makes their way to take visitors to Gibson's! This was my second visit and I learned that Gibson's is the only restaurant to have their own USDA beef offering. Our server brought a platter of meats, while giving us the specials of the night. Due to double steak dinner nights, I ended up getting the smaller 14oz ribeye along with shareable sides. We ordered shrimp cocktail and crab cakes as appetizers. Always a good choice! Steak was a little over cooked for a medium rare, but still very juicy and tender. I do recommend adding seasoned butter, if you like a richer flavor profile. This spot is always very busy, noisy, and they use every bit of space to get people seated. Note this, if it makes any difference to the experience! read more

My family and I came here on Thanksgiving. While they have lots of steak and seafood options, we all got the Thanksgiving dinner. For appetizer, we started with a bowl of lobster bisque. For the entree, it came with a few slices of turkey, green beans with almonds, stuffing, mashed sweet potatoes, spiced cranberries, and a side of gravy. For dessert, we got a slice of pumpkin pie. Gibson's is known for having a good selection on good quality beef cuts. They even offer grass fed meat from Australia. They also have a good amount of sides. I found that Gibson's is an old traditional steak house. I would not compare it to Texas Roadhouse or Outback. The quality here is a lot better. It is old and tradition;can tell by the sides they have to offer. Their food is excellent, but it didn't "wow" me. Again, nothing wrong with their food, but I found it alright. They cooked everything right per request. There is so much competition in Chicago so this would not be my number 1 pick. It is quite expensive here as well. I wouldn't think it is worth the price. My husband and I made reservations to Gibsons for our anniversary after receiving a nice gift card to the restaurant. Based off of the hype in the reviews for the Chicago cut, I knew that's what I had to order. My husband has been here before (my first time though) so he recommended that we get the twice baked potato, and my insistence on having something green on my plate led us to also order the Brussels sprouts. My steak was good, not the best steak I've ever had, but cooked to my desired doneness so I was happy enough with that. My husband ordered the farroe island grilled salmon which was absolutely delicious. The twice baked potato was very good, I'd liken the flavor to potatoes au'gratin. The Brussels sprouts were a little bit of a let down, I feel like they could have had more maple flavor. We also ordered some cocktails; I got the coconut Mai tai and my husband ordered the blackberry smash. Both cocktails were good, but nothing special. All in all though, I'm glad to have finally checked out Gibsons! The staff was very friendly and helped us to make sure our special day went very nicely. read more

What an absolutely incredible steakhouse. My sister and I took our mom here for Mother's Day and were able to book a reservation around a week in advance. They have valet parking or you can self park in their paid parking garage. The service here was impeccable. You can tell they hold their staff to a high standard because seriously everyone was beyond personable and polite! I felt very taken care of. The food..... wow. The food here is everything. Yes I came to a steakhouse and didn't get any steak lol, but the seafood, drinks, and dessert were enough for me to come back. We got the full garbage salad which was enough for 3 people; it came with a lot of random ingredients in it (shrimp, chicken, artichoke, tomatoes, etc) and it was the perfect accompaniment. Their oysters and shrimp were fresh and high quality, not to mention had an incredible cocktail sauce. The Lake Superior whitefish was a straight 10/10 so phenomenal. The mashed potatoes with it were outstanding too. The macadamia turtle pie stole the show for me; I'd come back here for that dessert alone. Ugh. This place is the definitely coasting on its former reputation. Where to start... My wife and I hosted a one of my staff and her spouse for a celebratory dinner here tonight. Gibson's is one of the several places in Rosemont where parking yourself is not a workable option, so be ready to tip the valet when you leave. My wife is disabled and must use crutches most of the time. When we arrived, the regular door was locked from the outside, forcing patrons to only use the revolving door. Any patron with an access need should be aware that someone will need to enter and then open the regular door from the inside since revolving doors are incompatible with most crutches and all wheelchairs. They also had a bank stanchion blocking the regular door. I mentioned the inaccessibility of this to the manager when we checked in and was told it was a fire exit only. It makes no sense to place a barrier in front of a fire exit. The manager apologized, but made no offer of any concession at all. Ok. Not a great impression, but we'll make the best of it. The dining room is pretty cramped and navigating to and from the table is more like working your way across a club dance floor than through a restaurant. The atmosphere was very loud and a bit boisterous. It's Saturday evening and we weren't expecting a quiet dinner so this was fine. We settled in, and I propped my wife's crutches and a cane belonging to one of our guests on the bench seat between my seat and the adjacent table. After ordering and receiving our drinks, our server came by for the protein dog and pony show, where they talk about some of the steaks and seafood available. When she arrived, she wanted to stand between me and the neighboring table, so she scooped up the cane and crutches and pretty much just tossed them at me. Then she proceeded to move my beverages (grabbing the rim with thumb and all four fingers) so she could use the table in front of me for the display. She seemed fairly oblivious to any of that being impolite at all, leaving my water and drink in the middle of the table when she left. For the rest of the meal, she did not really improve. At one point, I explained that I could not hear her and asked her to repeat something. This prompted her to share that she also could not hear well, but then did not repeat what was requested or attempt to raise her voice or come nearer to be more easily understood. The food was almost ok. Lobster bisque had no actual lobster in it at all. Each of the three salads ordered were incorrect. My steak was fine. Nothing special. That's the issue. An $88 ribeye should stand out a little. This wasn't anything memorable at all. The filet was well short of the desired temperature. When you're all in for drinks, dinner, dessert at $150-175 per person, you expect something more. This was all just so-so food with bad service. Everything was sort of just going through the motions. Bottom line, Gibson's does not care. Not about their food. Not about their service. Not about their patrons. Especially not about any patrons with access needs. read more

I ordered the 10oz filet medium rare and what I was served was a brick. Barely pink in the middle. We were told that they do a specific broiling technique for their steaks.. that may need some fine tuning. The service was great though. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. We dined there last night for our anniversary and loved the food and attentive service by our waiter and general manager. Starting off with a nice old fashioned with crystal clear ice cube that was sexy as hell. They also created a special tuna tar tar appetizer that was not officially on the menu. Great start and plentiful! The crisps were delicious too. We had oysters and shrimp special combo and it was ice cold and delicious with plump giant shrimp. Tasty oysters but a bit on the small side. Shared a house salad and they created a special homemade garlic dressing for us. Yum! Shared the 26 oz porterhouse steak which was delicious and cut for us. Cooked to perfection. Juicy and tender. We had button mushrooms which were just ok, I prefer more of a sherry reduction, and a side of their hash browned potatoes. but honestly, we wished they were crispy on top and golden brown. They honestly came out looking like cauliflower so we actually sent those back and they removed from the bill without question.
