We celebrated my mother's birthday dinner here last weekend. My family has been going to Carlucci's for years, but this was my first time. First, the restaurant is beautiful. Such an old school Italian vibe, you can't get better than that! So many restaurants focus on being modern looking, it really removes the charm out of places. Carlucci's was such a vibe. I can't wait to bring my husband here. Onto service - our waiter, Sal was incredible! Had an amazing personality, and took wonderful care of us. We were never without drinks, our food came in a timely manner, couldn't have asked for better service. Onto the food! My mom and I split a salad, so fresh and delicious. We also split the octopus which was great! Very tender. I ordered the chicken Marsala as my main and it was delicious! The chicken was perfectly tender, the Marsala sauce was perfectly balanced and tasted incredible!! I was hoping for personal redemption because the last time I ordered chicken Marsala at a different restaurant, it was awful. So happy Carlucci's hit every mark on making it a perfect dish. Everyone else in my family loved their dishes. I did take a bite of my mom's bolognese, and it was so meaty and delicious. This was an easy and convenient option as it was in the building connected to my Marriott hotel. My server and runners were friendly and efficient and the dining room was cozy. I enjoyed some wine, bread, soup and butternut squash ravioli with gelato for dessert. Everything was good but nothing amazing. I got the fettuccine with filet mignon and it was delivered as meat scraps well done with a side of fettuccine. Nobody could tell what was mushrooms and what was "filet mignon". Delicious meal served by excellent staff in a superb ambiance. Outstanding experience, highly recommend and plan to return! As out of town tourists in comfortable travel clothes and a bit road weary we weren't sure if we would be comfortable dining here, however we were treated with utmost attentive and thoughtful service. Overall, this restaurant was just okay but I would not come back. First we got the charcuterie plater which had a variety of cured meats and 2 types of cheeses. The meats were sliced way too thick and the cheese was just okay. Then we ordered the Bianca pizza which was pretty good! Finally we ended with the cheese wheel which was underwhelming. it literally tasted like buttered noodles. I was expecting them to really melt the cheese with a flame to get the pasta nice and cheesy but it literally tasted like butter. Also it came with peas and they were undercooked. Also, went for my parent's anniversary and they didn't even acknowledge the occasion. The place was very old and château like with modern music playing. Interesting atmosphere. Carlucci is gives off a very cozy, and romantic, yet somewhat old school type of vibe. I loved it. Came here for dinner with the hubby and we left very full and satisfied. I had the Fruti Del Mar, a seafood pasta dish. It was very filling and a nice sized portion. Also got the Caesar salad and the arancini which were great appetizers to our meal. I also loved the complimentary bread that our meal came with which tasted great dipped in olive oil and cheese. I love Italian food and the vibes here are so nice and homely you just feel like you're at home. For dessert of course I had to go with the tiramisu and it did not disappoint. Had a quick business meeting a prospective new hire, it was dinner service time and the servers seemed a bit rushed to get appetizers and coffee. They didnt ask us for refills, and the coffee was lukewarm. But our server who brought us the bill was informed got me a piping hot coffee to go. good customer service. The assorted pizzas, Insalata della Casa, Orecchiette con Salsiccia, Costolette di Manzo and tiramisu were all fantastic ! The cocktail and wine menu is pretty vast, so there is definitely something for everyone! I'd recommend Carlucci to anyone wanting Italian food without spending an arm and a leg. Amazing prices for the portion sizes in a calm, dimly lit, clean environment with excellent, attentive service. Mike was my server and took amazing care of me especially after I accidentally ordered the wrong dish named similarly to the one I wanted and he corrected it in no time. Carlucci's in Rosemont truly lives up to its reputation of making customers feel special. After a rough day, I arrived without a reservation. Valet Kfeyis Yelcif kept my car up front in case things changed. Once inside, a minor interaction at the bar ruined my mood. When I returned to get my car, Kfeyis noticed I was upset. Despite my objections, he insisted on notifying the manager. Two manager came at Kfeyis' insistence to resolve the situation. Everything about the Italian dining experience was great. Food is very good and generous. Service is attentive and friendly. Wine list has some nice Italian choices. We started with cocktails at their bar, dirty martinis with blue cheese olives and went on to the dining room. Great date night place, great for groups and special occasions. They have complimentary valet and love that we avoid traffic into the city for a special dinner. Our group had the Osso Buco, short ribs , the radiottori pasta and the pasta special; all were great and with leftovers. We saved room for dessert, bread pudding and tiramisu. Yum! read more

Went Xmas eve, party of ten and the bill was well over $1,000.00 Calamari appetizer over cooked and flavorless, octopus was overcooked and mush, served with chunks of potatoes, weird. I ordered the Osso Bucco, served in a strange brown canned gravy sauce, not good. Three others ordered the same and all were disappointed. Pasta was dry, cheese wheel never made it to the table and servers seemed aggravated throughout the entire service. What is the spinach thing? Why is this draped over all your dishes? The service was just OK. When I asked how the non-alcoholic beer tasted, he replied "Italian". Not very helpful. My tilapia was cooled wekk but the sides were not what was listed on the menu. It was supposed to come with carrots and a farro in white sauce - no peppers. The bread pudding was good. The bill for two dinners was over $140 without drinks. We did not order dessert but they do have some. Food was mediocre at best. Got the short ribs, which came with spinach and mashed potatoes/gravy. There was no flavor to the ribs, like at all. Spinach in and of itself has flavor so that was no problem. The mash was decent, it had some seasoning, but overall everything just lacked a depth of flavor that you expect from a restaurant of this caliber. My business partner got the ribeye steak, it came with a corn souffle and cherry tomatoes. She said it was flavorless as well. Everything was cooked perfectly, but just lacking flavor. She also got a iced tea, which she said was also not the best. We also got dessert- I got the chocolate cake, she got the cannoli. Both of which was underwhelming- we did not finish the desserts at all. Actually only took a bite of each and called it a night. We did have an appetizer (calamari) which was arguable the best thing of the night. I wouldn't recommend and I'd only return if someone offered to take me there, and I'd only say yes as to be kind, but if possible I'd strongly deter. Food was THAT mediocre and simply not worth the price they charge. It was also very cold in the restaurant and took a while for them to bring the entree. The restroom is about a 3 minute walk down the hall from the actual restaurant, which is also a negative. It was a thursday night, and the restaurant was kind of empty, which is also not a good look. I think they are at the point of running their course, but because they are near O'Hare, it's probably keeping their business afloat. Cooked to absolute perfection, each bite was a revelation of succulent flavors. I ordered the filet for my main snd was not disappointed! I had mine with asparagus, foregoing the potato This was a work trip dinner, so, I did not chose the wine, however, we had a superb barolo, that was perfect with my steak. I had a very simple lemon sorbetto to end my meal...while I watched my colleagues indulge in cheesecake and tiramisu. Only wish I had video taped the serving as they placed the hot pasta in a large chunk of parm cheese to add delicate flavor. I was thoroughly disappointed in this restaurant. My husband had the veal piccata, I had the chicken marsala, both of them had a raw flour taste from the coating. It's almost like they forgot a step like maybe the egg wash. All I could taste was flour. The marsala had tiny little pieces of mushroom in it, not one whole piece. It's definitely was a premade sauce. The caprese salad was OK, of course the tomatoes were not ripe, but what do I expect for May. I truly expected a better meal than what we got. Our waiter was excellent, the service was excellent, was a nice atmosphere. But this is not good Italian food. Not by a long stretch. We will not be back. read more

My fiancé and I came to Carlucci before a concert at Rosemont Theater - it was the perfect dinner before a show! We booked reservations and glad we did because the place was absolutely packed. With that said, the service was outstanding to get our drinks and order in right away. Our waiter, Mike, gave great recommendations on wine and suggested the Linguine Con Prosciutto Di Parma, which we both ordered. It's spun in a cheese wheel at the table and is very good. My husband and I attended this dinner and we had zero complaints everything was incredible the house bread, appetizers, drinks, entrees, and especially the dessert! The service was super and fantastic and on top of everything and honestly our server was such a sweet man so thankful we had him he gave us a great experience! Well this one was, as they say in Boston, a "pissah"! Carlucci, a venerable Chicago restaurant name. I haven't been to one of their places in a quite a few years. Wife and I celebrate the day we met in person as an anniversary, and for us that usually means steak. On the first day we met, I took her to the Tiki Mecca: Hala Kahiki in River Grove, Il., which was to be this evening's final stop, so I needed to find a SteakHouse somewhere on River Rd and environs. There's plenty to choose from in that corridor. I should say there's plenty to choose from if you just hit all 5 plus the kicker in the MegaMillions. I don't mind paying a tidy sum for a fabulous steak, but of late we've gotten burned on the premium chophouses. (q.v. "Ruth's Chris" here on Yelp among others). Nothing worse than walking out of a joint leaving behind the equivalent of a car payment with the thoughts we had a better meal at the local Longhorn for the same cash outlay as the tip we left at the posh joint. That's actually a true story. Carlucci's menu was attractive and appropriately priced. It's kind of tucked away in an office building north of the I-190 O'hare feeder, the complimentary Valet is welcome. The rooms are elegant in that muted gold way common to posh Italian restos, quite attractive actually. The staff was cheerful. I had eyed the menu earlier in the day, with a nod towards Osso Buco d' Agnello; and the Filetto di Manzo for the Mrs.. We didn't have any boozes, saving it for the later Polynesian destination. We both ordered salads, opting for the "half" portions offered by the waitron; not on the menu. Wife going for the "Casalingo" minus all the accoutrements she disdains, like olives and ricotta salata; with "ranch" substituted over the red wine vinaigrette. I swung with the "Cesare" (with anchovies, natch!). They arrived, in paltry portion; and dont'cha know-her "Casalingo" was dressed with the vinaigrette plus a heap of the ricotta salata on top. Sent back to the kitchen for correction (with no complaint from the server), and returned promptly. Wife said it was fine. My "Cesare" tasted like many things, none of which were a "Caesar" as I know it. However, It was a good salad, with 2 'chovy filets atop-and they were the yummy "Italian Deli" kind, not the bullshit ones in a little tin. The "Filetto di Manzo", on the menu, is accompanied by "Soft Mascarpone Polenta", which wasn't in the cards for Wife, who subbed "Mashed Potatoes" in her order. The Steak came and looked good at first, so did the mashers. She soon found those mashers to be barely lukewarm, and kind of bland. The steak was a center cut, and done to the proper temp, but one side was distinctly grey, as if freezer-burned. The steak also was barely seasoned. The scarce "Marsala Wine Reduction Sauce" didn't do much to help the flavor. Wife asked for some butter and garlic, again supplied quickly and without issue by the attentive Waitron. We also had an order of "Sauteed Spinach" for the table, one of our faves; and Wife put some of the spinach on the 'taters to warm it up, but it was kind of a futile effort-the spinach was bland, too. My Lamb Osso Buco was ok, not fabulous, but edible. My plate had the aforementioned Polenta, and it was a meager souply portion-again, not very warm. It tasted ok, but it was so runny, I almost had to ask for a spoon. Wife passed over a chunk of her steak for me to try, and it was again, ok, but not $50 ok. The filet served at our local Longhorn is superior. I closed my meal with an espresso. It was...Espresso. Asking for the check, Wife mentioned it was our anniversary, and the waitron snatched the folder back and disappeared, re-appearing shortly with a dessert plate featuring a cylinder of dense chocolate cake and a scoop of gelato, with strawberries and shpritzes of whipped cream. The server had a small boat of sauce which she flamed over the cake. Nice! The complimentary celebratory dessert was the highlight of the meal. Go figure. The bill was about $130, pre-tip, and I left a good one, as the service was absolutely top-notch. Can't say as much for the rest of the feed. Our booth was near the path to the kitchen and I noticed a number of plates coming back from other tables with not a lot of the stuff on them consumed. I also saw action concurrent with a flubbed entree order at another table. The great Guitarist John McLaughlin, in an interview a while back said: "you have to know what a Hershey bar is to appreciate Belgian Chocolate". I love that quote, and in my mind, it applies to our stop here at the Carlucci. Think about it for a minute and you can figure it out. Throwing 2 stars for a disappointing experience. PS-The restrooms are almost an Uber-ride away-kinda creepy in a desolate office building after hours. read more

The ambience is elegant, the service was top-notch, and the food was delicious. Stephen was our server and took care of all of our needs and had a great sense of humor. To start off our great meal - we were served their fresh bread at the table. Always a nice way to start! We enjoyed the Campanelle con Gamberi in a chive cream sauce- truly, the best pasta I have ever had. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, and the chive cream sauce was delicious. We also tried the house made ravioli, a vegan penne dish, grilled shrimp and octopus, and a delicious antipasto salad. We were all very pleased with our meals. We spoke to the chef, Moises, he has been there for quite some time and he's clearly doing a fabulous job! It was a fine meal and a beautiful restaurant! read more

The ambiance and atmosphere is authentic, I felt transported to an Italian town. The service is incredible, with the staff being very attentive to our allergies and checking with the kitchen to ensure we were taken care of. The quality of food was a little lacking: some of the dishes were dry but some were very tasty so I have mixed feelings. I got the chicken parmigiana which tasted zesty and cooked to perfection.
