My favorite spot on the island! We came to visit the island for a wedding this past weekend and came to the spot every single morning from our house! It's a perfect location right on the water, and they have absolutely delicious coffee! My favorite thing was the vanilla latte, but they have a ton of options for syrups and drizzles. I also loved the açai bowl and my husband loved the breakfast burritos. Everyone was really kind, and the food took a while to come out because of the ferry, but it was worth it! If you were trying to catch the ferry, I would get there at least 30 minutes before. Such a cute spot! read more

Salty Fox Coffee is definitely a must go to coffee shop whilst in town on vacation or if your a local. The shop is right next to the ferry landing, which is perfect. Leave your car in line and just walk next door. The coffees are amazing and made to order just right every time. Definitely try The Islander Açaí bowl, fresh and made to order. The pastries are made fresh daily. There's many ideas in the shop for gifts. I bought the un paper napkins and un paper towels. Best choice ever. I use them for everything. The bright colors I chose as the perfect amount to my table. I also highly recommend the Poppy & Pout lip balms. On Oprah's list of favorite things in 2021 and 2022. Best lip balms I've ever bought. I had to buy one of every flavor. My favorites are the coconut and peach. After I got home I ordered the trio lip tints. Definitely a must if you like your lips hydrated. The owners are actually active with the customers and locals and the baristas definitely know their stuff. If I ever become an islander, Salty Fox Coffee will definitely be my to go place. Lovely ambiance, in and outdoor seating and it's handicapped accessible. There is street parking for 15 minutes, or you could drive around the block and find 2-4 hour parking. Salty Fox is one of the first places you'll see when you get to Friday Harbor- it's a cute, charming little cafe on the water that honestly doesn't need to be as good as it is. It overlooks the harbor and ocean, making for a relaxing, picturesque view when you sit outside. The staff is also fast and friendly, and when my group of friends and I visited, we were able to get in and out in less than 10 minutes. I appreciate when a restaurant or bar or cafe hires enough people because it ensures your experience as a customer will be as smooth as possible. They're always getting something done and you can tell they enjoy working with each other. In my last visit, I got a hot mocha and it should not have tasted as good as it did. I'm not sure what chocolate they're using, but it is ridiculously good and didn't taste like a generic chocolate syrup that you can get anywhere. Everything here, from the interior design to the merch to the service, is meant to make you feel comfortable, and it succeeds. read more

I am so happy to see this place transformed from an overpriced tourist trap into Salty Fox, a great local spot! The owners have turned the front of the shop into a small store with local goods and fares for sale, and even a small secondhand rack with children's items. They have kombucha, (local) wine and cider for sale by the can or bottle, and a full coffee list to order. They have several food options, including the usual breakfast sandwich (made with waffles and bacon, on the sweeter side!) and some healthy options such as a pesto bowl and other veggie options with proteins to add. The coffee, food and service is great and I am so happy to finally have a solid spot to get a bite while waiting for the ferry downtown. read more

We ordered chocolate croissant, almond croissant and chai latte. The chai latte was very good. Also, the filling inside the croissants was a generous amount. This place has a great view facing the harbor. I would recommend this place especially for folks who are waiting for the ferry out of the island. You can keep an eye out for both incoming ferry and the your vehicle waiting in the line to onboard to the ferry. Also, this place is cheaper than some of the other cafes in the island. read more

Sweet spot. Convenient spot located right at the harbor. With parking right at the front of it it's very accessible to get in and out. Looks like it has a walk up drive thru. Coffee shop vibes with good indoor seating to be able to study or do work or even to Lounge. Their bagels are very tasteful & the açaí bowls are a must. A little pricey and they close early so it's kind of inconvenient. Stuff are kind and patient as we didn't know what to order. read more

What a great place to go and have breakfast or brunch. The breakfast burritos were outstanding and even though I'm not a coffee drinker, the other couple that was with us said their cappuccinos were wonderful. They took all the necessary precautions during COVID-19. Ate here twice this past weekend. The view is incredible from the front porch of this coffee shop. The drinks were good, but each need some adjusting to get it just right. Items Ordered: Breakfast burrito: sausage was excellent, the rest of the burrito needed more flavor Pesto Egg Bowl: ummm yesss! This was the best dish but I personally did not love the texture of the chia seeds with my eggs. The Salty Fox Coffee is the first place that will greet you with open arms when you disembark the ferry to San Juan Islands. It has a kind of well worn majesty and homey welcoming facade which is pretty much fitting for SJI. There has been a changing of the guard with regards to ownership and I THINK the coffee has improved. As well as the baked goods. It is hard to determine if they bake on site or "import' from local sources. Some things from the case live up to expectation, while others do not. The barista skills are on the moderate side. There are a couple of places on the island that do a better brew but for those who like a tongue lashing dark brew, you won't mind one bit. The best for a connoisseur who likes mild and fruity thoughtful brews, may be an iced latte to temper the bang of the dark roasts. I love sitting outside tucked in the corner watching the ferry load and unload passengers and goods. I have yet to have a savory meal there. Because desserts matter. read more

This is the best place I've encountered in a very long time. And I am a foodie who lives in San Francisco, so a praise like this from me is not common. I was blown away by the Pesto Rise Bowl, and took Veggie bagel to go, but the cream was so light and fluffy and all the fresh flavours smelled so good that I devoured it on spot. I've been back every day during my stay on this island. The food is so fresh, the flavours well composed and everything breathes quality here. 10 stars out of 5. I guess my only complaint is that they don't serve dinner. Cause I would have eaten dinner here every day too. I hope they do next time I visit this beautiful place. read more

This is a great stop for coffee/breakfast once you are off the ferry at Friday Harbor. It's one of the first restaurants you'll see right along the harbor. Their interior is extremely cute with a small shop as well. They have amazing coffees, which pair well with their great breakfast selection. It's not a full dining place, but they have amazing croissants, rice bowls, burritos, etc. to choose from. For us it was a great way to start our day. read more

This is the perfect stop for a quick bite! After an early morning hike, my husband and I stopped by to grab coffee and some breakfast. Their food menu was surprisingly extensive with options from oatmeal to breakfast burritos. Ordering due to COVID primarily takes place through a takeout window on the back side of the restaurant with a small patio area to wait around on. Our order took a little while to prepare and I wasn't overly impressed with the coffee but the breakfast burritos my partner and I received were delicious, and came in hearty portions.
