Five years ago, my entire basement was flooded in 2 inches deep of water at 2 AM. First, I ventured into the pool in the basement and turned off the main intake valve for the house, then at 2:30 AM I phoned his emergency hotline. A half an hour later, at 3 AM he phoned me back. He instructed me that as long as the water was not turned off, he would send someone at 8 AM. Sure enough, two plumbers arrived at my doorstep at 8 AM, and located and fixed a busted valve. Six months ago, his crew replaced the faucets on two sinks and fixed a leaking drainpipe on one of the sinks. But five months later, the drainpipe began to leak again. This time, Ed himself arrived. As usual, he fully explained to me the problem. I did not hint that maybe the leak had not been properly fixed six months earlier, and was ready to pay for his visit and quick fix. He told me that in life I might need to call a plumber some day and you better know some basics before signing a contract with someone. He began to give me a grand tour of all the plumbing that A&L Plumbing did on the job site and kept telling me how clean, orderly, and efficient they are. Just from the looks of it, I would have to agree. Being in IT, I know when little things are out of place and its the little things that make all the difference. Let me tell you (not knowing much about plumbing), these guys had everything in place and in an orderly fashion. Properly labelled pipes, state of the art products and from the looks of it, had tons of experience in this area. I work with modern technology all the time and would have to say that when the Forman showed me around and what types of plumbing technology they were installing, I was blown away! I had no idea all the tech that is now involved within this area. I thought the profession was kind of behind with technology and sort of playing catch-up... I had no idea the setup they that was involved with some of the plumbing equipment. Remote-in with your phone to adjust the temperature of your water heater and analyse just about any stats you want? WHAT? Seriously, Yeah, these guys know their S#it. He began to tell me these guys are the ones to call even if I had a small plumbing concern and that they are the most reasonably price contractors around. In addition, handed me a their number on a scrap piece of paper, should I ever need them in the future. None, the less my friend recently bought a house and they happened to call them and they did all the plumbing in their house ha! Crazy! They began to tell me how nice of a crew they are and how efficient they were with the installation upgrades and their requests, that even they recommended them to me. That's twice now from two different sources that when the time comes for me, I will certainly call these guys and have them do all my plumbing needs. I would not feel comfortable having someone else do the work, when my closest friends tell me they are good. Seeing first hand what these guys can do on the job site I was working at, it is certain I will call them. I had to write this review because I feel they deserve a good review seeing how hard these guys work and the quality of work that it would be nice of me to express my thoughts online. I called this company to clean my furnace. They charged me over $1000 to get my furnace cleaned…read more They claimed that it was especially dirty and that is why. When I reviewed the itemized costs, they broke down the costs as being ~$750 dollars in labor. That $750 is further broken down into two men working 4 hours each, from 10 am- 2 pm. In addition, I paid for a "smoke test" $150, which they had to come and do a the next day. First of all, they arrived well after 10 am the first day, the second guy arrived close to 11 am. They left ~15 minutes before 2 pm, so their costs for labor are off. Additionally they told me the next day that they would come at 10:30 to perform the smoke test (which I had already paid for the day before). At 11:10, I called their office and asked where they were. The wife is the secretary. She asked me who I was, and she made a comment "you are the person who's furnace my husband cleaned yesterday, he was so dirty when he came home." Lady, your husband cleans furnaces for a living and he charged me over $1,000 yesterday, he better have gotten dirty. These guys are crooks, find someone else!

My pipes froze a couple of years ago and when I called Jim he came over in a flash with heaters to try and get things warmed up. I'm sure he had plenty of people he was helping that day. however he never seemed rushed or acted like I was an inconvenience. he never charged me for his kindness and help. he told me the pipes woudl unfreeze when the temp reached about 36. he was exactly right. he does all the work for us around the complex. every one loves him.

Our first experience with Plumbums was excellent - we had an emergency issue, Jim was able to come…read moreout within an hour or two and get it fixed, and he was on his way. When our pipes froze during the big storm this January (thankfully, without water in them), we decided to hire Plumbums again. That didn't go as well. Quality of work: The fixes Jim suggested (a series of individual junction fixes) seemed reasonable for the repairs needed, but in some cases replacing whole sections would have been more time- and cost-efficient (according to other plumbers we've had in our home who have seen the work done). And we needed four return visits within our first three days living in the house to address issues that had not been resolved or that popped up as soon as we turned systems on. One problem (heat running constantly on our first floor, making the house over 80 degrees in the winter) was unresolved until I researched possible causes myself and communicated that to Jim, who sent out one of his guys to implement the fix. Professionalism: We were frustrated by the lack of care shown toward our property. Jim's guys left plumbing debris (not just the stuff our homeowner's insurance requested, but just straight-up trash), food trash, and drywall dust in our basement and living areas. This means that the first thing we had to do after driving 3,200 miles to move in was clean up after them. Drywall was removed roughly in several locations, and although patching was not included in the estimate, the cuts themselves appeared unnecessarily sloppy (and our new plumber neatly cuts and replaces drywall as a matter of course, leaving the mudding to us, which is fine). Plumbums did work well with our insurance company to get our claim handled, and ultimately we have working plumbing. But our experience wasn't great.
