I've been going to Sam for about 4 years now, ever since another hair stylist fried my hair with bleach. Not only did he give me a cut that covered up the damage, but he also treated it and made it look normal again. He gives awesome haircuts, knows how to color (i.e. doesn't fry your hair, knows what colors are right for your skin tone, uses good quality products), and to top it all off, they provide great customer service!!! I will not go to anyone else for my hair after going to Sam. His cuts have always gotten compliments. If you are looking for a trendy, fabulous cut/color or any other service (such as eyebrows or makeup), I would definitely suggest Sam Pierre and his skilled staff. Parking is very convenient, right behind the salon. The salon itself is clean and very nice. I had an experience from HELL with OFELIA! Just look at the photos! She left ORAGE lines and spots in my hair, made the bottom of my hair GREY, and FRIED my hair! Ofelia told me she could lighten my ombre color. She tried and ended up leaving ORANGE LINES in my hair from her attempted ombre. After I told her how unprofessional it looked, she told me not to worry because it takes several attempts to get ombre (this obviously is far from the truth since I've gotten ombre before from an amazing hair stylist in L.A. named Lala. Lala was super busy so I tried Ofelia. Anyways, she left LINES of ORANGE in my hair and then she had to give it a second try (claiming it was part of her "process." She started putting more bleach on my not even fully dried hair (yeah - there were parts that were still wet). Then she washed it and OMG she put ORANGE spots EVERYWHERE in my hair and the bottoms turned out GREY. Look at the photos!! At this point, I started crying and called my mom to come since Ofelia was being very aggressive. My mom quickly came and was horrified. Ofelia, out of shock that there was now a second person to point out the disgusting mess she had created, told me she would give it yet another try (and of course, she claimed it was part of her ombre "process"). I went outside and gave Lala (my old hair stylist) and emergency call to ask what I should do. I was crying on the phone. She told me to not let Ofelia touch my hair further as the more bleach damage she did to it, the more impossible it would be to bring to a normal condition. I told Ofelia she was not allowed to touch my hair again. She then told me how lucky I was that she was only going to charge me $180 instead of more money. I was in SO MUCH SHOCK that I didn't even know what to say. That's probably not something you want to say to someone after you RUIN their hair with bleach. My mom and I, in our entire lives, had never experienced such unprofessional, rude, passive aggressive, and aggressive treatment. I told Ofelia I was not going to pay her and she told me that I was NOT allowed to leave her salon without paying her. Let me repeat this part again. She said I was NOT allowed to leave. So she coerced me into paying her. I came home and wrote a bad review about Ofelia on YELP which she immediately had removed, since I made a judgment about her character (this is in violation of Yelp policy). Then I filed a complaint with American Express. Ofelia, after ruining my hair, didn't even offer to give me my money back. She actually wrote to American Express several times and said how she had a policy where American Express could not deduct the money and that I should contact her directly. Something she knows I would not do as she coerced me into paying her. I had to pay Lala over $300 to fix my hair (she even put the before picture on her instagram that has over 15K followers to point out how bad some hair dressers are). So in the end, I paid over $500 to have my ombre lightened...something a good hair dresser could have done for $150-$200. I later had to chop off a great deal of my gorgeous hair because Ofelia had caused so much damage. Have a look at the photos! You will be ABSOLUTELY shocked. Based on my experience with her, I believe (again, this is my opinion) that a lot of her 5 star reviews on Yelp are written by her family and friends. I was in her salon for a long time and she didn't have clients lined up for her at all. No other clients besides me and she claimed it was because it was a week day...Lala has new clients every 30 minutes. She even has to have an assistant helping her. Probably because she knows how to do a GOOD job. Good thing I graduated law school because I will be suing Ofelia. I think she needs to learn that you can't treat people this way. You can't ruin their hair (orange spots, orange lines, and gray bottoms), lie to them about being able to repair it (only to damage it further), coerce them into paying, and then have the audacity to actually claim you weren't in the wrong with a credit card complaint. It's just too much, even for me to handle. BEWARE! read more

Sam is absolutely the best. He knows how to run a business, how to please a client, and most importantly, HE KNOWS HAIR! I have been getting my hair cut by Sam for over 9 years now and I can tell you that his outstanding quality remains just that, OUTSTANDING! I have fine, long, curly hair, and he knows just how to layer it without butchering my cut. I do not look like a Christmas tree when my hair is left curly and I do not look like a scarecrow when my hair is straight - which is the problem I see many people face, I just keep quiet or kindly refer the to SAM. lol Months after a haircut with Sam, you will still experience the shape originally intended. Also, ever feel that the stylist blowdries your hair after a cut and it looks great, but once you do it yourself, it never works out the same? You will definitely not experience this with Sam. Unlike previous hair studios I've been to, I never walk into Sam Pierre's with a feeling of fear or dread in my gut because the results are sure to please. This one's for you Sam. I have had my hair done all over the country and never have I found a stylist that can work with my hair quite like Sam. I can walk in to the salon tell Sam to do whatever he wants and my hair will always look fantastic. I have never had so many compliments on my hair before visiting him. Granted I have never had green, purple, and burgundy hair before either but it suits me! Yes he gave me rainbow hair, but with a sophisticated cut and he did the color job with enough subtly that it just adds a fun touch to my style without being obnoxious or trashy. If you doubt it just ask Sam yourself to see the pictures. My wavy curls are easy to manage with the short hair do he gave me. The layers are just right, so wash and go is sexy and blow dried is classy. No matter where I find myself living I will continue to go see Sam. Once you find a gem like him, you don't give it up. Ok, I've had countless hairdressers from countless different hair salons cut/style my hair (why do I even bother going anywhere else???) and NO ONE has done a more stunning job than Sam at Sam Pierre. The best thing about him is that he's an artist and absolutely knows his craft. The newly located salon is very high end with decent prices. The vibe is very cool, the staff and stylists (or shall I just call them "artists"?) are totally chill and friendly. I have gotten more compliments on my hair than I have from anywhere else. First of all, understand that an average man desiring a quick haircut walking into an "upscale hair salon" for the first time is already a fish out of water. That said, I decided to try Sam Pierre's place on Verdugo instead of my usual place based on the location of the salon and good reviews on Yelp. Upon walking in, I noticed that the place was decorated in a trendy/hip fashion, and there were women and girls getting their hair trimmed and colored. However, I was not greeted by anyone upon entering the place (not a "hello, how are you, welcome!" or even "Hi, give us a second and we will be with you"). I walked the salon to the back (!) stainless steel hemisphere desk where a woman was talking in an angry tone to someone on her cell phone. One of my first thoughts was "Why isn't the reception desk right out front and staffed by a greeter?" I thought she might be the receptionist, but she turned out to be a stylist and she went back to working on a customer without acknowledging me at the counter. A man briefly walked by me (Sam, presumably) and gave me a quick look with no communication while he went to work on another customer. I stood awkwardly at the back desk while waiting to speak with someone for 30-45 seconds. The man-in-black returned to speak to me about my haircut needs. I asked him if he could fit me in and he said "no, not right now, maybe in a hour." He gave me a card and told/asked me to come back in an hour, or make an appointment. Although he was fundamentally polite, I left feeling unwelcome. Mr Pierre: I fully understand that women are $$$ and men are s@#! in the stylist business. You are so close to our house that, if I had been acknowledged with courtesy by ANY ONE of your stylists or you, and had been made to feel fairly welcome, I probably would have not only come back, but suggested that my wife try you out as well. If you had treated me well, I might have asked about the Yoga studio in the back and became a paying member. You lost our business, and you lost business for the Yoga studio. Acknowledge EVERYONE who steps in your door, even if just to say "Please sit down for a moment and we will help you." read more

If, on the other hand, you ask for something particular, within the realm of reasonable cuts, you may be disappointed. At $65 per cut it is too much disappointment for me to bear another time. I've been blessed with great hair and most hair dressers love working on it. I have to agree that Sam is an artist who know his craft and as an artist myself that is important in any creative field. I was referred to him by someone I trust and has great hair, and that is why I decided to give him a try. The important thing with him is he knows HOW MUCH to cut in porportiion to your features. I got a great hair cut last night from Sam! I live in the neighborhood and found Sam Pierre on yelp. Based on the the great reviews, I decided to give it a try. Making an appointment was easy, which this mom loved! Since it was for a same day appointment, I called and was given an appointment with Sam. He was able to squeeze me in at the end of the day. No wait, and I got a great cut and blow dry (straight) in under an hour. Sam is very personable and clearly very talented. What can I say except that OFELIA IS A GENIUS! I went to several expensive salons and wanted a more natural blonde look and to make a long story short made me look awful, the colors did not go with my skin coloring at all and the way they did it would force me back into their salons every there weeks for maintenance - I really can't afford that especially from these Beverly Hills Salons. I did a lot of research to find a salon that had great reviews and wasn't going to force me into bankruptcy. I liked their website and also Ofelia has blonde hair so I thought she must know what she is doing. I went in their nervous and started showing Ofeila pictures of the hair I wanted on my phone, she quickly said she knew what I wanted. I was skeptical b/c I had shown these to other top L.A. salons with no use. I was so nervous the poor girl washing my hair must have thought I was a freak b/c I kept trying to take pictures of it while she was washing it what color it was. When all was said and done, I wanted to cry, it was absolutely perfect!! I didn't even show her picture that was what she did and she did EXACTLY what I wanted ( I think she's a bit psychic ;) Also she did it in about half the time the other salons took.
